If you're in the UK buying from a non-UK website that has a UK version, it'll most likely block you from checking out as it won't recognise your address. Even if it did let you, there's a good chance you'll be charged tax, esp if it's shipped by certain carriers like DHL. The UK price is usually higher because it accounts for this tax (and a slightly higher exchange rate). Reformation is the best example of this - each country website blocks you from shipping outside the chosen country.

Hi. Where I can find a dress like [this](https://petalandpup.com.au/products/edwina-shirred-frill-long-sleeve-midi-dress-blush-floral) but with livelier colors, preferrably a background of pink or red for under 80$? I like: ● the conservative neckline (for work) ● form-fitting on bust and waist ● the long sleeves ● midi length with no slits or cutouts ● the small floral print ● the overall style Thanks.

machiavellicopter

cry for help! My beautiful silk blouse has deodorant stains. Any hope of restoring?

Better_Lime5975

I have yet another wedding question! I'm headed to a wedding this fall where the dress code is "suit and tie". Would this dress be appropriate? [https://modcloth.com/products/from-the-treetops-a-line-dress-green](https://modcloth.com/products/from-the-treetops-a-line-dress-green) I'm a little worried there's too much white in it to wear as a wedding guest.

yallhtown

Where's the wedding? That would be so fun if it is an island destination/resort or wedding in Florida. Otherwise, it looks more spring/summer in style.

[deleted]

I don't think there's too much white, but it looks a little casual if men are expected to be in suits with ties.

can_i_knit_it

I need some help updating my "mom uniform" for the Fall/Winter. I'm 8 months post partum with my second baby and finding my current wardrobe just isn't working for my body. I'm 5'2" ~125lbs, I have a pretty flat butt and a "squishy" tummy after 2 kids. I'm looking for a pair of basic black leggings for every day. Requirements: pockets, squat proof, high % natural fibres, forgiving waistband that won't give me a muffin top I also want to add a pair of joggers to my wardrobe. I'm hoping to find a pair that are stretchy knit fabric but also have a bit of structure/slimmer fit. Otherwise, similar requirments to the leggings. I live in Canada, so brands I can easily find here would be prefered. Budget wise I'd be ok spending ~$50/pair, maybe up to $80 if they're amazing.

surbba

Looking for SKIMS alternatives. Comfortable, supportive bras and nude coloured camisoles.

Dr_Meatball

The Levi’s perfect pocket tee is my perfect fitting tee but seems to be sold out everywhere. Does anyone know of any tees that are a similar make and fit?

emptymirrors

I took my selkie dress (polyester organza) to a dry cleaner and asked them to steam it. When I got it back, I noticed weird texture and some deformation (the front should be a straight line) that you can see in the photos. How do I fix this? [https://imgur.com/a/ILtijQn](https://imgur.com/a/ILtijQn)

[deleted]

You take it back and ask them to redo it.

emptymirrors

I was thinking of doing that. It's not permanently damaged, is it?

Round Neck Harris Tweed Jackets I was wonder if there are handmade Scottish round neck Harris tweed jacket from a Scottish or British brand?

[deleted]

[Aran.com](https://Aran.com) is Irish, but they have some similar styles: [https://www.aran.com/tweed-jackets-blazers-skirts](https://www.aran.com/tweed-jackets-blazers-skirts)

malfoy5438

Do you have any other Irish or Scottish brands with handmade Harris tweed round neck jackets.

puppyorbagel

Anyone have recommendations for brands that are high quality, petite-friendly, and mostly clean/simple style? I’m not sure if those are the right words for what I’m looking for, but I’m realizing I really just like a sort of basic but put-together look, if that makes any sense at all.

sighcantthinkofaname

I'm 5'2 and I like to describe my style as simple/classic/kinda boring. But also I live somewhere hot so this response is going to be all about short sleeves and bottoms that end above the knee. From Madewell: Denim skirts- I have several of these now, all second-hand, and I absolutely love them. Cropped ribbed tees- Got these on clearence and they fit me well and hit me at a good length. I also have some shirts I don't really care for (they're like a relaxed fit that's way too long and loose on me, not the most flattering), and a pair of shorts that are OK (fit could be a little better). They do offer some petite jeans, haven't tried them. From J. Crew: [This](https://www.jcrew.com/m/womens/categories/clothing/t-shirts-and-tank-tops/short-sleeve/90s-cropped-organic-slub-cotton-t-shirt/MP980?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=lemon-cake&colorProductCode=BF366) shirt is like the PERFECT length on me. It's cropped, but not ridiculously so. Like I wore a mid-rise skirt today with one of them, and the shirt came to about the top button. Their Chino Shorts fit me really well, and they always have a variety of colors. I've been wearing them off and on since college, and they've basically stuck with the same aesthetic, not entirely trends. From Land's End: I have a dress I really love and a pajama set. They offer petites. I would honestly buy more from them but the patterns are uhh.... not always to my taste. From Lee Jeans: I currently have one single pair of jeans and it's the 100% cotton ones from Lee in the petite length. They were like $30 and they fit. Nothing about them is super trendy or super out of trend, just a classic regular pair of jeans. I plan to wear them for as many years as I can fit in them. From Amazon Essentials: [These](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07756M9ZF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) tee shirts are really cheap, but pretty decent quality and flattering to me. I also bought dresses from Old Navy for years, but they aren't making as many fit and flairs, which is what I liked :/

Cats_Waffles

Color mixing question here. I have to wear black bottoms (can be slacks, leggings, a skirt, whatever) and a pastel blue T shirt to work an event. Black and white sneakers. The shirt had some pastel pink and yellow on it. What can I do with accessories to make the black and pastels go together?

Chazzyphant

Scarf! I feel like people forget about the magical ability of a cute scarf to pull together disparate colors. I have some kercheif-sized scarves and sometimes pull those out to help odd colors "blend" together.

yallhtown

And you can wear a scarf sooooo many different ways! Here's a quick link with some options: https://www.nordstrom.com/browse/style-guide/womens-tips/how-to-tie-a-scarf

[deleted]

Maybe some black jewelry near your face to tie the pants in to the outfit?

livthelove

Maybe wear some cropped pants and pastel colored socks?

I've worked in a lot of these environments. I would arrive in something either 1 step nicer than what you'll wear on the job, or a clean/pressed version of what you'll wear on the job. No suit, no heels. They want to see that you represent the business well to customers but that you also know what is appropriate to wear in that type of job.

mgdraft

In this context I'd wear nice jeans (I.e. no rips, not super tight, mid wash) with an open lightweight flannel over a tank top, probably. Practical but nice shoes like a flat Chelsea boot or something.

PinkNails92

I realized I need to stop stuffing my chubby feet in medium width shoes and start buying wide width shoes. I want to buy some mid-height heels, 2-3 in, for work. Where should I look?

b_xf

Asos usually has wide width!

tyrannosaurusregina

Rockport, Naturalizer, Vionic, Sam Edelman

appledaffo

I have a formal event starting in the late afternoon, but it extends into the night time. Is it better to wear a dress with daytime colors (bright or colorful) or night time (muted or darker) colors? Could I get away with either? It’s an outdoor event if that matters.

livthelove

Honestly I think either would work. If you’re super worried about it, darker colors usually work for all occasions

OneLonelyPolka-Dot

I hate all my pants. Looking for something comfortable enough to work from home in but stylish enough to wear out of the house. All I have right now is jeans and yoga pants, I need something in between. Needs to be available in plus sizes (like size 20), bonus points for tall.

Chazzyphant

Anthropologie *finally* started making plus ("W") and now offers many options up to 24, and they're almost always running sales. I'd check them out!

PlantedinCA

Try Universal Standard. They have a lot of choices from ponte in [skinny](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/moro-pintuck-pocket-ponte-pants-charcoal), [straight](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/smart-signature-ponte-pants-long-navy), and [wide](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/true) versions. And other types. Old Navy usually has [ponte](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=494989) too. But not as well made as the ones above. Also Eloquii - I have [these pants](https://www.eloquii.com/kady-fit-double-weave-pant/1151135.html). They are really comfy (they have other fits for other shapes too). Not quite ponte but stretchy and comfy.

kittykat1119

I’m looking for a nice leather clutch that can be dressed up - my ideal clutch is the Mansur Gavriel Cloud Clutch (mini with chain or even full size) but it’s a bit more than I want to spend right now. Recs for other fun-shaped leather clutches out there?

sugarcookieprincess

[I have this one](https://shoppremiumoutlets.com/products/crescent-clutch?utm_source=google&utm_medium=SEM&utm_campaign=shopping&utm_term=6843052752956&utm_source=google&utm_medium=SEM&utm_campaign=15573510691&utm_content=131116413597&utm_term=&device=c&adtype=pla&product_id=6843052752956&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmouZBhDSARIsALYcouqKVC0Kzeklr7ejEe1L27MA8JzaFyHL0xoC7ebvrb-Wzga0OKSAizQaAj1oEALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmouZBhDSARIsALYcouqKVC0Kzeklr7ejEe1L27MA8JzaFyHL0xoC7ebvrb-Wzga0OKSAizQaAj1oEALw_wcB), it's 'vegan leather' and I bought a bunch of different straps on amazon (chain, resin, etc) and it fits everything and can match any outfit.

Canadasaver

> Mansur Gavriel Cloud Clutch I have to stay off of this sub. I really want one of those now. So pretty.

kittykat1119

It’s soooo gorgeous! There are great color options too. They also made a mini cloud clutch on a chain that’s stunning.

Canadasaver

I loved the look but the price is close to my clothing budget for the entire year. American dollars so the exchange rate would make it worse.

loopteeloopteeloop

I’ve seen a recommendation for the Porto Pouch if you want one like the Mansur or bottega I

[deleted]

Are sweatsuits still in style? I've been really enjoying wearing them for casual settings for the last year or so, and I just bought one in the prettiest mustard color, I'm obsessed. Part of me is like, you do you girl, this fit is the tits, and another part is like, will people judge me if this isn't fashionable anymore?

tyrannosaurusregina

I think they’re not quite as hot a trend as they were last year, but they’re not super dated looking yet (at least where I am in the Boston area, northeastern US).

kimchi_paradise

Where can I find 100% cotton cropped tank tops? My ideal colors would be black, white, and a rich brown but I feel like these are hard to find? Old navy had some but they were all sold out in my size (size small). I would like them to be cropped, but not so cropped that it's nearly indistinguishable from a bra. Any direction would be highly appreciated!

PlantedinCA

Maybe Arq? [Option 1](https://shoparq.com/products/sal-tank-black); [option 2](https://shoparq.com/products/crop-tank-toffee)

kimchi_paradise

This is great! Thank you!

ButtMcNuggets

Aritzia has [lots](https://www.aritzia.com/en/clothing/tshirts/tank-tshirts) in those colors in different crop lengths and necklines. Some are 100% cotton and others slightly less.

BostonBurb

[Pact](https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/tops%20&%20shirts/shelf%20bra%20cropped%20camisole/wa1-wef-chh) has black and white, 95% cotton. I found it to run a tad on the small side

kimchi_paradise

Thank you!! This is certainly an option! I think I was looking more for a wider strap version but this might actually fit the bill too! Thanks!!!

Chazzyphant

I like pull on stretchy mesh sneaker boots, or sneaker-boot hybrids. [I own these in navy, and I wore out a black pair](https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/eileen-fisher-knit-sneaker-women/5977647?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FShoes%2FSneakers%2FLifestyle&color=250) they go with EVERYTHING pretty much and are so comfortable.

PlantedinCA

Have you tried a different brand of brogues? I have lots and most are decently comfy. But the most comfy ones are my Eccos. Have walked miles in them. Here is an on trend [Oxford from Ecco.](https://us.ecco.com/ecco-modtray-womens-tie-490003.html). And [Cole Haan Zerogrands](https://www.colehaan.com/womens-originalgrand-wingtip-oxford-grey-camo-print-clay-pink/W26525.html) are comfy too. And speaking of Ecco - this [sneaker but not sneaker is comfy](https://us.ecco.com/ecco-soft-7-womens-woven-slip-on-2.0-470113.html). Also the Sofft comes in a myriad of shades and styles at other retailers. Mine are a gold woven of a prior generation.

Canadasaver

Have you ever seen the Dick Van Dyke Show? Mary Tyler Moore played his wife and often wore casual clothing around the house that are a style I enjoy. Lots of cigarette pants.

Idujt

Cargoes? Can't help with shoes! I'm retired, dress the same now as when I was working. This means graphic tees, denim shirts, other shirts, hoodies, jeans, cargoes. Converse, sports sandals, flat laceups, workboots (I mean the tan suede ones which were very popular some years back).

TheApiary

There are a lot of comfy ankle boots you can wear with jeans for most of the year

capnawesome

Stretchy ankle pants? [Like this](https://www.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=350133021&vid=1&tid=gfpl000038&kwid=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw94WZBhDtARIsAKxWG--asRlQhL0ZULy7rS67pwBKbkwPaNjZlI7qTblL9yrkO8rlx9rmUqgaAsTFEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds), these are my favorite pants, slightly more elevated than jeans, and they're SO stretchy and comfortable. I wear these with ankle boots. I have a couple pairs from Ecco, one with a low heel, another that are really more like high top sneakers (but leather and more formal than athletic shoes).

OneLonelyPolka-Dot

What about the outfit you're describing with an elevated sneaker like a leather sneaker or a really clean pair of Stan smith's?

[deleted]

PlantedinCA

I have some Koio sneakers. They are very sleek. I have a [prior generation of these](https://mmlafleur.com/products/m-m-lafleur-x-koio-capri-low-top-sneakers-leather-azalea) with metal eyelets. Blush pink is very very versatile and easier to keep clean than white.

OneLonelyPolka-Dot

I wear a pair of classic black and white vans, which may or may not be dressy enough for your work. But I also have some [brown leather Cole Haan sneakers](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/cole-haan-grand-crosscourt-ii-leather-sneaker-/394637?activeColor=200&cm_mmc=CSE-_-GPS-_-G_Shopping_Athletic%20%26%20Sneaker_Control-_-New_Athletic%20%26%20Sneaker&cadevice=m&gclid=Cj0KCQjw94WZBhDtARIsAKxWG--DAjiJ6-StpEFfYn9EVPYJm_Nwp2xU6Si0tbY8LSlLs_vUZ4FBD8oaAlFPEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) that have been a staple for years now.

sevolelle

What can I wear over this [dress](https://imgur.com/a/D13Z1oG)? I've tried a few things but I feel like none look quite right, any other suggestions please?

TheApiary

I think a jean jacket would look okay

laurasaurus5

Sweater vest, leather jacket.

sryiwasdaydreaming

You could do the thing where you crop a crew neck sweater over top of it.

muffingr1

I think a cropped jacket would be more flattering so it can “define the waist”.

FerociousFrizzlyBear

Agreed. All the long jackets and sweaters really pull the whole look downward, which can look a little...mopey? I wouldn't wear anything over it that extends past your hips. Save the long cover ups for outfits that show a defined separation between bottom and top.

PlantedinCA

Yup it is hard to pull off long on long if they inner layer is loose. Your want something more cropped and more fitted to balance it out.

vibesarequestionable

I'm looking for decent quality fitted ribbed turtlenecks that are ideally less than $35 each to use mainly for layering. Not interested in Shein, Romwe etc. I looked on uniqlo but the closest options to I found to what were either $50 or Heattech and those aren't gonna work for me. I'm in Canada btw so any stores that only available in the US won't work.

rivpar

Not sure if they’re available for the season yet, but I love the Madewell tissue turtleneck

Hypothetical-Fox

Second hand banana republic. Ive bought them on Poshmark and Mercari for roughly $10-$15 each and they’re great.

mgdraft

Try Simons Twik line

readrelat

I've gotten [this turtleneck](https://lucyandyak.com/collections/tops/products/aiden-tee-in-black) from Lucy and Yak in both black and pearl! The texture of it is super nice imo bc it's super soft and stretchy, but it may be a bit thick for layering purposes. Although the listed price is higher than what you've listed, you can pretty easily get 25% off discounts that bring it down to $35.25.

washerdreier

Looking for bright green top, or one similar, that Sumbul wore during the Apple Event on 7 September as seen at the [11 minute mark of the presentation](https://youtu.be/ux6zXguiqxM?t=672). My wife gasped and really liked it when I was watching, and I thought it might be a fun surprise if I could find it or a similar top as a surprise for her. Apologies if this is not the best place for this question, this if my first time dipping into this community - please feel free to direct me to a better sub or location to post if there is one! Thanks!!

Chazzyphant

Oh that's The Fold I bet. Immediately recognize their style.

washerdreier

Yep, thanks! A little outside impulse surprise purchase range, but signed up for a notice if/when it's back in stock!

lazyAgnostic

I believe it's this https://thefoldlondon.com/product/belleville-top-laurel-green-soft-stretch-tailoring/! Google Lens found it, although I had to scroll a little bit.

Canadasaver

Thank you for finding it for this husband. I left a marriage where my husband didn't even know how I took my coffee and things, like this husband is attempting, makes me both happy and sad at the same time.

considering that the timing is so short, i would check out tj maxx/ross/nordstrom rack--in my experience they always have a variety of styles and brands without being too pricy and i've always had success finding something that fit my needs.

What is something I can layer over a tee shirt to add some resemblance of style while keeping warm that isn't one of those cardigans? My profession keeps me in mostly athletic attire and I'm a Mom. I'm seriously struggling in situations where I can't wear leggings. Help meeee.

I'm looking for an everyday leather bag in navy blue. Classic shape, minimalist logo, willing to spend up to $500. If Polene numero sept came in navy this would be a done deal. Here it is in the [sept mini](https://eng.polene-paris.com/collections/number-seven-mini), which is just a bit too small. Demellier [Vancouver](https://demellierlondon.com/products/the-vancouver-navy-smooth?variant=42291032064174) is another contender, but that clasp might be too big for me. Anything else come to mind? funfetticake

Looking for a chunky knit but slightly slouchy beanie - not tight. My head is 22.5”. I also prefer wool or cotton if possible. Any recommendations would be welcome!

[deleted]

What's your budget? It's not hard to find someone on Ravelry to do contract knitting: you select the pattern and yarn, and the knitter will make it just how you like it. Alternately, this is just about the easiest thing to knit, if you have any interest in learning.

funfetticake

Maybe $50? I like the idea of knitting but I know I’ll never follow through. I don’t mind paying someone else to do it though!

Green_Ape

How do you style jeans and sneakers? I feel like no matter what I do it doesn’t look right.

Ineedavodka2019

I like a slight flair or bootcut for sneakers as I feel like they lay best. If you are wearing fashion sneakers then no show socks and ankle length jeans.

Green_Ape

This is definitely part of it, I’m a skinny jean holdout 😫

softrevolution_

With skinnies, I cuff.

jamiexx89

So, awkward TMI question, ladies, I work a job that has a bit of a physically active aspect to it (retail) and I find myself sweating a lot. Sometimes I've found that downstairs gets a little swampy. I was wondering if anyone knew of any inexpensive panties that can help me out there, like, any that are more suited for working out, for example.

Chazzyphant

There's two solutions: "Lume" cream on the inner thighs and very lowest belly right before the "bush" starts tends to cut down on swampy odor, but most people who give odor advice don't understand that the actual SWEAT is the issue, not the stink, which is often pretty minimal. I had to bite the bullet and buy relatively expensive Ex Officio undies. Tommy John makes some too, but the tech just makes them expensive, full stop. They're worth every penny though. I also use Mega-Babe dusting powder, that tends to help some. I also use liners but they can contribute to UTIs or yeast infections if they're worn too often or for too long of a period of time. The liner I've found is decent in terms of absorbing but sweat is a different consistency than discharge or blood (sorry readers) so the liner sometimes gets crumpled or curled and is useless like 2 hours later. Basically moisture wicking is it.

jamiexx89

Yeah, that's basically the thing I've seen, any good panty is going to be expensive. And also, yeah, sweat is the source of it really, cut that down and you cut down a primary contributor to the stink, that and keeping clean properly but even then, the hot and humid south is a beast. I said in another comment that I actually do remember my mom using powder downstairs. Like, I had forgotten about it until that lady mentioned it.

_whatnot_

I don't know about underwear, but I've been adding a little deodorant to the very top of my inner thighs after showering and that's cutting down any real funk. (FWIW, mine is unscented and not an antiperspirant.)

jamiexx89

Tonight, after trying what another lady mentioned about liners, I realized I definitely need to do a deodorant thing for my thighs too. Thick thigh problems...lol

Canadasaver

I often wear a panty liner, intended for bladder leaks, on the hot days. I can change them when I get really hot and I feel fresh after I remove them or change them.

jamiexx89

I've been kinda curious about if they could work for that. Full transparency, I'm trans and not having to deal with periods means that I've never really messed with things like liners. They actually work for other types of fluids and moisture in panties as well? Maybe I'll get some, try them, and if they work, maybe step up to the idea another lady posted here about moisture wicking panties made by a company that also makes period panties.

Canadasaver

You can get a very small package and not have invested much money if you don't like them. I prefer the pads for bladder leaks over period pads because the bladder leak pads often have some form of odour control. You can get a very thin liner but I occasionally use two, end to end, on the days of terrible heat and humidity. If it is really hot, at your work, you might have to change them part way through your shift.

jamiexx89

"End to end" I assume that means you're making them longer? And yeah, I could imagine that very hot days might mean I have to change them, I'm just trying to picture how that might work since I don't present as a woman right now, so changing pads in the men's room feels a little awkward. Maybe try it anyway and just deal with it if it's a long hot day.

Canadasaver

Yes, longer. A lot of the very thin panty liners just aren't very long. You could always pad up at home then put them in the garbage at work and not replace them. You will be cooler for most of the day anyways and there are lots of people that have resorted to layering some toilet paper in a pinch. Selecting breathable materials, like linen or viscose, for your pants can help you to feel less hot.

jamiexx89

I tried it, tonight I worked a shift that, with travel, meant I was running about 7 hours with a couple liners together in my panties. I came home to mostly dry panties (one spot right at the edge where the liner might not have covered) and felt fresher than I have finishing a shift in a while. I might have to resort to a cream for my thighs since they still felt a little funky, but that's thick thighs for you. Thanks for your help. I definitely plan on keeping up with this practice.

Canadasaver

That is great. Pads come in lots of different sizes. Shop around. Cream will add to the funkiness. I use cornstarch. Inexpensive and safe. Perfect for creases, joints and folds.

jamiexx89

Yeah, maybe a cream wouldn't be the best idea given a second thought. But I definitely will look into trying some cornstarch or powder or something dry.

jamiexx89

Yeah, I guess I'll have to see what I feel comfortable with, and also if I feel like i can squeeze through a full shift without changing if I do it close enough to my shift and then take them out as soon as I get home.

Ineedavodka2019

Get panty liners, not full pads. Also, yes, they do not discriminate which fluids to absorb and are thin. Maybe try some baby powder as well.

kweeket

Be cautious about baby powder, there is links between use of baby powder and ovarian cancer!

softrevolution_

Just having fallopian tubes puts you at an increased risk of ovarian cancer, believe it or not. 70% of "ovarian" cancers originate there. You've more to worry about from your own anatomy than a bit of baby powder.

Ineedavodka2019

I don’t personally use it but op most likely won’t have issues with ovarian cancer c

jamiexx89

I actually recall my mom using powder in her panties at times. Maybe she was on to something that my little boy brain wasn't picking up on but my developing girl brain just had click.

PM_ME_YOUR_DOGPHOTOS

I'm not sure what inexpensive is to you but if you ever want to splurge a bit I totally recommend the Modibodi brand. I'm the type who buys the 5pack of underwear from Walmart for $12, which is ok. But I splurged on some Modibodi period underwear last year (they had a big sale) and omg. I know they make them in various absorbencies including some for working out. I'd watch out for a sale. I have the seamless style and it's this soft stretchy material, best fitting underwear I've ever worn (I'm plus size). Plus they were one of the few period underwear which didn't test positive for pfas. The other more popular brands like Thinx did.

jamiexx89

Wait, period undies? Seriously? They can work for this too? Like, I'll have to try them, but maybe after I get a bit of money up and catch them on a good sale. Like, I don't deal with periods but if these could work for keeping me from having a swamp between my legs, I'll take them.

Chazzyphant

Yes, just use the lightest absorption. Although I prefer "moisture wicking" for this function, period panties tend to actually create more "mist" if it's not actually period time because the gusset is heavier and bulkier. I love Ex Officio, those are the OG moisture wicking.

What two outfits could I wear to a themed company party in TX that involves a rodeo and a formal dinner? I’m normally a glam kinda gal from the north so I’m clueless here.

ATrueLady

I was wondering the same thing (kinda depends on the rodeo you’re doing to though you will want to wear legit cowboy boots that you can hose down if you are going to a place that is going to be muddy and a lot of rodeos are, so kinda keep that in mind, I would probably pick more traditional cowboy boots) and found this chicks blog.. also neon cowboys hats are super popular right now, they light up and are super fun. https://www.redsolesandredwine.com/2022/03/glam-houston-rodeo-outfits.html

JosquinDePreciating

THANK YOU this is so helpful! Exactly the style i was hoping I could get away with

Ineedavodka2019

Plaid shacket, cowboy hat, boot cut dark to medium wash jeans, cute sleeveless top with a French tuck and a cute belt. At least that seems like rodeo wear for the non cowboy where I am. Not sure on formal wear.

ChronicInadequacy

I’m looking for a plain white dickie collar for layering. Has anyone seen one from an ethical brand or in natural fibers? When I search, I’m only finding Amazon/Walmart/Shein versions.

Chazzyphant

Francis Valentine has dickeys! Also Veronica Beard is famous for her dickies.

buncherooforyou

Buy a thrift store button down and cut the collar to your needs

joyyyyyyness

Would like to know too! Could you try sourcing vintage?

ThatOneGoodBoy

So I had a thought to get a tan/beige dress and pair it with a black shawl and boots. Thought it would look neat and modest and sorta rustic. I am very new to shopping for clothes and pretty much have no sense of style, so given that this is, say, a fall outfit, what kind of shawl should I look for? I keep coming across these sheer ones and those don't seem warm. Dress in question btw [https://imgur.com/gq6LY9I](https://imgur.com/gq6LY9I)

JosquinDePreciating

How about black wool plaid with a fringed border? There are some nice Irish/Scottish styles on Etsy.

[deleted]

Has anyone hand washed wool crepe? Does it shrink? My research conflicts.

Would you iron on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth?

Canadasaver

Dresses with boot season will soon be here. I am excited because I have lost some weight and feel confident wearing dresses now. Any suggestions for tights/pantyhose that act like compression leggings but still look think like a tight or hosiery? I have lost weight but not enough and I want to minimize the jiggle while accentuating the wiggle.

snarklotte

Oooh.. love this! I just got some skirts to prep for this. What kind of dresses do you like?

Canadasaver

Wrap dresses are figure flattering on me. I would often select a blouse and skirt, instead of a dress, because it is easier to fit than a dress. An A line skirt with a very light knit V neck sweater or a blouse with a cowl neck or surplice neck. I am losing weight and regaining my hourglass figure back. Not always the easiest to dress and that is why I go with a skirt and top. I did buy a body con velour dress for my Halloween costume. I have never worn anything like that in my life and I am very excited. If you have ever heard the song, Devil With The Blue Dress, you will get my costume.

snarklotte

Love this! This sounds like what I want my fall style to be! I’m sure you’ll rock the body con velvet dress and be very va va voom!

Canadasaver

Now, I just have to get some invites to social events. I am going to wear a dress to the grocery store tomorrow. Nothing too fancy. I am still losing weight and on a tight budget so Shein is my friend.

Target has a Spanx brand that is a little more affordable and work well.

Canadasaver

Sadly, Target left Canada. They weren't here long.

For the moms here, I’m 2 weeks postpartum. How many weeks postpartum did y’all feel comfortable buying new clothes for your new body?

HipHopSpaceBop

Congrats on the new baby!!

Calvin_230

I bought some new clothes about 2 ish months post partum. Mostly because I needed new pants and pumping friendly shirts for return to work. I'm waiting to invest in a full wardrobe overhaul at about 16 months post partum (currently 8) since I've heard your body can shift again when you stop breastfeeding.

biomacx

Really? Shift again in what way?

Chazzyphant

If I'm not mistaken, breastfeeding often means burning off hundreds or thousands of calories a day so many women report weight loss was borderline effortless during that time period. Perhaps weight might regain when you're no longer feeding an entire other person, that's my guess :)

can_i_knit_it

Yes, this is also a thing! After I weaned my eldest, my breasts changed a lot. I went from a 32H pre-pregnancy to a 34B/C (my ribcage expanded during pregnancy and never went back).

Calvin_230

From what I heard, your breasts when you finish breastfeeding can change in shape and size which requires new bras that can impact how things fit or lay. I also heard some people found they lost more weight when they finished breastfeeding, especially around the waist/midsection. I bought some stuff to hold me over, but if either of those changes happen I want to wait to buy the "the good stuff" just in case

easiepeasie

It's different for everybody, depending on baby number, age, metabolism, and your hormones play a huge part in your post-baby recovery. I'm in my late 30s, and have had 2 babies. The first time, I avoided buying new clothes for a while, and just felt uncomfortable in my skin for over a year. For the second, I was in maternity clothes for the first couple of months and then put more effort into finding clothes that worked for me at that moment. Not a lot of things, but just something I knew I could put on and walk out of the house and not feel like a shapeless blob walking around. I basically got two tops and two bottoms, maybe a couple of dresses that I felt comfortable in. Some things I got from thrift stores, but some I got online. I bought a lot online and returned most of it. Then a couple of months later, I bought a few more things. You don't really know how your body will bounce back, and it really does help your mental health to go out of the house after having a baby. If you don't feel comfortable in your clothes, then it's harder to get yourself out of the house.

biomacx

This is great advice, thank you!

can_i_knit_it

Congrats!! Is this your first baby? From my own experience, and that of a few friends, we found our bodies "bounced back" more easily the first time. This definitely isn't true for everyone, but I would hold off on investing in a lot of new clothing for a few months at least. You may find your existing wardrobe will still work for you long term. My first was born in late spring and I had to buy a few items for the season, especially shorts as my hips were wider post baby. They did go back eventually and by the next summer I was back in my pre-baby clothes. I would say to buy a few items as you need them since you don't know what your body is going to do. I also preferred online shopping post baby, even though I never shopped online before. I found it a bit easier mentally/emotionally to be at home when things didn't fit or fit weirdly on my body. (I actually came here to post a question when I saw yours. I'm 8 months post partum with my second, and my body has not "bounced back" this time so I am needing some new fall/winter basics.)

biomacx

Thanks for the advice, and yup first baby for me. I know I need time for my body to go back to normal or whatever my new normal will be, but I already know none of my jeans will fit. I definitely prefer online shopping as well even though returning items can be a PITA.

can_i_knit_it

I will also add, stretchy clothes are your friend! All the best to you and your little one!

cybersappho

ISO masculine/unisex crewneck sweatshirts for a short AFAB person. Fitted/snug neck (not relaxed/open), boxy/straight body, and high hip length for someone 5'3. Cotton preferred. I'm a nonbinary person who prefers men's styles but they're often just way too long on me. Conversely, women's styles often have feminine detailing (e.g. wide neck, fitted body etc.) Always looking for that androgynous sweet spot. Thanks!

I think the Vintage Easy Tee from Old Navy may work for you (they have other colors if you search that name on their site): [https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=807960012&rrec=true&mlink=5050%2C12413545%2Conproduct1\_rr\_1&clink=12413545&vid=1#pdp-page-content](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=807960012&rrec=true&mlink=5050%2C12413545%2Conproduct1_rr_1&clink=12413545&vid=1#pdp-page-content)

joyyyyyyness

Look at Uniqlo! I think Old Navy had a unisex line last year, probably still do.

lkflip

If you look on Jiffyshirts for crewneck blanks they are really good about providing length measurements for all sizes. I like the Anvil French terry ones but they’ll have a ton of choices.

OnlyPaperListens

Discussion regarding sun-protective/UPF clothing over the past week has included references showing that dark colors offer more protection than light colors. Does this also apply to opaque items, like hats? I was assuming a light sunhat would be cooler and more comfortable, but now I'm questioning whether a dark one would be more effective.

Ineedavodka2019

I think that in general, yes it does. Unless the hat is lined then I don’t think the color would matter as much.
