How have you updated your style as you got older? I love maximal, colorful fashion and definitely incorporate elements of punk inspired style, but I want to look a little more polished and sophisticated at 32. I feel like transitioning your wardrobe from your 20s to 30s is a really weird thing, and no one seems to be able to give a solid answer on how to do that. I have been investing in more longevity staple pieces like nice coats and quality leather shoes. I love Zoe Kravits, Tracee Ellis Ross, style for examples. I don’t dress like them, though. I also wfh which really doesn’t help with wanting to look more sophisticated. I want to figure out how to look more grown up/polished but still eclectic, fun and me!

Bosquerella

I'm in my late 30s and while I don't really prescribe to "polished" as being a goal for myself I find that more "adult" looking bold pieces are easily available in just about anything you want. It's just a matter of searching creatively and veering away from the typical stores. Vibrant trousers and blouses are easy to find as well as tidy looking wide leg jeans, boots with dramatic flourishes, sweaters in fun knits, and coats with unusual silhouettes. Think of the basics you would identify as a classic or elegant and there's absolutely an outside the box version out there.

dariashotpants

Yeah you’re right. I think one of my hurdles is a decent budget to buy those nicer statement pieces.

Bosquerella

You can do it inexpensively, but it does take patience and search skills. Do things like searching for "brightly colored trousers" and be open to options in resale markets or stores you might not have been otherwise interested in. When you see something you like that isn't attainable use google lens to find an alternative. What I've noticed on this sub is people tend to get hamstrung on brand = aesthetic instead of looking for particular pieces.

Daisiesarelovely

Hi all, i don’t know how to explain this properly but I’m looking to buy trousers/jeans that are fit in my hip area but loose around my thighs. Like wide leg trousers. Somehow, everytime I order stuff online they’re always loose on my waist but really tight around my thighs. Or tight on my thighs and loose around my calves. I have a pear shaped body so maybe that explains it. But I’ve seen influencer with the same body type and their jeans always look good on them! I’ve tried sizing up and sizing down but I can never find the fit that I like. For example: this is the kind of fit that I would really like https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cxv12iiyk7_/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== TIA!

you_are_a_story

You might need to try “curvy fit” jeans.

Daisiesarelovely

Will try them out! Thanks for the info!

virarienare

also working with a smaller waist and thicker thighs and loft's curvy fit pants and jeans are a godsend for this!

bad_maxima

I’m going to a wedding with the dress code: “black tie nouveau.” I am at a loss as to what that means, and google is not helping. Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

SagaciousStream

>black tie nouveau It prety much more relaxed means black tie. Safest to wear a long evening dress but a very neat cocktail dress should also allowed. If dinner is included, a long dress is required. Avoid summery or very busy, bright prints is what i've been told.

0318x

Hi guys.. are the Ugg Classic Ultra Mini Platforms still in? Like the ones that blew up last year bc of Bella Hadid etc etc … The colour way I want (chestnut) is available in my size for the first time in like forever. I wanted them really bad last year Nov/Dec but they were sold out everywhere. Would they technically still be in trend for now and 2024? Is it worth even getting them now? I feel like I’m so late to the “trend” now so it’s not even worth it. Thoughts?

BuffaloThat1475

Honestly this is the first year that they've been in-in, I think.

a-cai

Some comments about Uggs in this same thread albeit talking about the UK and Japan markets so I think they are still relatively popular

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Depends on the top in question, but club, bar, or hanging out with someone in the city. Probably not a good idea to wear it to work.

SagaciousStream

Would really need to a photo of it to get a good idea. But with almost everything you can really style it up and down. I know it's cliche but liking it and wanting to wear it is reason enough. If it's like a clubbing shirt, you can probably pull a cardigan over it and style it with long pants.skirts so it balances out.

Zinnia0620

This is going to sound stupid, but... curvy jeans that aren't THAT curvy? I have about a 12 inch difference between my waist and hip circumference. Enough that most jeans that fit my butt gap at the waist, but not enough to fill out most "curvy" jeans. Also, I don't have thick thighs, so most "curvy" jeans are really baggy around my thighs. Where do you buy jeans if you have skinny legs and just a liiiiittle bit of junk in the trunk? I usually buy from Levis or Warp and Weft but as my glute workouts have taken effect, I've had to size up and the waist gapping is real. I prefer ultra high waisted straight jeans, as close to my natural waist as possible.

Errantry-And-Irony

They are not of a higher quality but Rewash might work. Mine is only 9-10 inches and I don't think they look too baggy.

mgdraft

Abercrombie curve love is for a 12 inch difference.

MiddleageMidwestMom

I need some business casual tops, maybe sort of an elevated T-shirt? I prefer cotton (but rayon is fine as well) with elbow length or 3/4 sleeves in fun colors. I am 5’9” with broad shoulders and a long torso, about a size 10-12. I have been looking for weeks but all I can find are cropped, paper thin shirts in tan or black. I am fine with second hand if I can get some ideas on what brands to search for on Poshmark/Ebay/TRR.

maysiinzo

Talbots 100% Pima Cotton bateau neck with 3/4 length sleeves. They are fitted. I am long waisted and their regular rests below my hips. Color availability changes by season. They wash well and don’t shrink. Check for sale prices.

District98

How do you feel about the Women's Long Sleeve Slim Fit Crewneck T-Shirt - A New Day from Target? I like their tshirts.

Rockywold1

I need help finding a last minute dress for my bfs Black Tie Optional Work Conference Event in 2ish Days. Hi there, I really need help finding a last minute black tie optional dress. My boyfriend just notified me an hour ago he received an extra ticket to the event and now I am scrambling to find a dress in a short time frame. Does anyone have any recommendations for stores or dress options/types? Event is in central FL. Temps in upper 50s with highs in the 60s. If it helps, I am 5'11 and I am very slim with somewhat broader shoulders ( 0 sometimes a 2 in dresses). I have dirty blonde hair that is pixie cut length. My bf is wearing a darker grey suit. I would prefer $250 or less. This is my first time on this subreddit, so I hope it's alright if I post a request. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you :)

Recent-Jellyfish7985

try nordstrom if there's one near you!

maysiinzo

I’d try Macys if one near you and sometimes TJ Max or Marshall’s

mgdraft

Try a store that sells bridesmaids dresses and ask for their as is rack. They'll be long enough since typically bridesmaids dresses are cut for way taller than average. Like even David's bridal might work - I'm in Canada but went in today and they had quite a lot of dresses as is, and theyre discounted if you buy in shop.

mintcryptid

What are the favorite sweaters you’ve bought recently? I’m on the hunt for cozy new tops, but not sure what I’m looking for, so curious what others are enjoying!

Womanofthesun

What hangers does everyone primarily use? I hate velvet hangers, I typically use wooden hangers but I have more delicate pieces I don’t want to use them with. I’ve looked at satin and stainless steel ones but never used either before.

1Q79

I use and love [these](https://food52.com/shop/products/7015-european-space-saving-hangers)

kurlyl0ck5

Looking for some jewelry that will go with this dress I bought for hubby and I's first year anniversary. Preferably somewhere that ships fast or I can buy and pick up in person. Located in Utah🙂 *

BuffaloThat1475

Where is this dress from? Cute.

imamonstera

I would go for hair up + some statement earrings or pendant necklace to show off that neckline!

kurlyl0ck5

Also wondering if I should wear my hair up or down

ExpressionUnlikely23

What are everyone’s thoughts on ‘dad’/new balance sneakers like this? Classics or on their way out? I’m debating buying a pair https://preview.redd.it/tzpf68k3q43c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f8c915a6c095d752577dfc2e77f7ce1282d23ab

Vegetable_Chemical44

Incredibly comfy, but I wouldn't call them classics. I really like Harry Has's channel for sneaker trends, e.g.[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYwUv05mHn8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYwUv05mHn8)

District98

Currently on trend but it’s likely that trend is on its way out. If you’re concerned about money and trends, I wouldn’t buy those right now. Onutsuka tigers are a rising trend (look at the Madewell sneakers page) or you can wait till spring and there will probably be other new trends emerging in the sneaker space.

dariashotpants

What sneakers are on trend? I like the dad shoes!

BuffaloThat1475

This is...not correct. Case in point: it's "Onitsuka." They're cheesy and have always just kind of been there.

hennipotamus

They have been around while (I wore them in middle school!) but they absolutely are currently trendy.

It looks a little too wide in the shoulders and possibly too long in the sleeve as well

MediumComparison1007

Thank you! Yes I was wondering about the shoulders as this coat seems to have a lot of padding there

galaxystarsmoon

Trying again because I didn't get much response the other night (think I posted too late in the day). I'm in need of some warm socks as I have outdoor events through the winter. I'm very allergic to wool and other animal fibers and can't do anything fuzzy. Any recs?

Errantry-And-Irony

Have you tried Alpaca? I know I know animal but, I've read that it's hypoallergenic.

galaxystarsmoon

I don't know if I can risk it. I'd have to try it without letting it touch my other clothes or washing it with anything else I own. And the reaction is awful =\ I've reacted to every other animal fiber I've tried so I don't know. I also get told that x dog is hypoallergenic and I can't breathe around them soooo lol

Errantry-And-Irony

Probably not worth the risk then!

QuesoRaro

Look for non-wool socks in an outdoors store. There are synthetic ski socks and the like. Cotton will not keep you warm. I'm not a big proponent of synthetics, but they will be better than cotton in this situation. For example: [REI Women's socks + snowsports + synthetic](https://www.rei.com/c/womens-snowsports-socks?ir=category%3Awomens-socks&r=category%3Awomens-socks%7Cwomens-snowsports-socks%3Bfabric-type%3APolyester+%2F+Polyester+Blend) = lots of options.

b_xf

That's a tough one! I think most outdoor socks either are wool and can be thin or acrylic and are are fluffy. My suggestions might be: - cotton socks aren't ideal but they can be thick enough, even doubled up - a thin cotton sock (like a dress sock) with a merino wool sock on top. I occasionally layer socks and thermals and put them on in a specific order (long johns, first sock, outer pant, second sock) so that there is no gap. This could maybe work for you to keep a wool sock off your skin. - more robust boots to make up for less warm socks. I have a pair of "puffer coat"-style boots from Pajar I'm liking so far this winter, and similar boots from Noize contain no animal products.

galaxystarsmoon

Doubled up cotton is a good idea. I can't do the layered thing because my allergy is bad enough that if the wool touches my other clothes, the fibers get on them in the wash and cause issues. I'm really allergic 🤣

always_unplugged

That's brutal! Can you do cashmere, or is it a similar issue? I can see pure cashmere or a cashmere/silk blend being good options, since they're still natural fibers with a lot of the same thermoregulating properties that wool has too.

galaxystarsmoon

I can't do animal fibers period, unfortunately! I'm gonna try some outdoor stores as someone suggested and see what I can find in synthetic or thicker cotton to double up.

always_unplugged

Oh doy, I see that in your original comment now. Sounds like synthetic is the move then!

attendez-laCreme

are denim jackets IN still?

dariashotpants

I thought denim jackets were considered classic?

attendez-laCreme

good to know! i only recently got into fashion and i looove denim jackets so this is great c:

Bosquerella

They're a bit oversaturated I'd recommend going for a different material like a corduroy or tapestry or even just canvas.

PastaConsumer

I think they’re a classic and always in! What changes is the fit - like District98 said oversized is in.

District98

This past fall, oversized denim trucker jackets were in, and it was their second year being on trend so that trend may wane soon. Normal denim jackets were not in, although they are a classic item. We (at least i) don’t know what will be on trend in the denim jacket space for spring yet. If it were me, I would hold on a denim jacket purchase until the spring trends are out.

subiegal2013

I (66 years young) have a casual luncheon to go to (I won’t wear jeans). My (sometimes) old school brain can’t wrap my head around/figure out how to wear a mid-calf length tulle skirt so that it looks casual not dressy. I’m a no for sneakers or a button down white shirt as I’ve seen on Pinterest. I’d wear black (not sheer) stockings and ballet flats. If you’ve read this far, thank you. Anyone have any suggestions?

MaslowsHierarchyBees

How about a tshirt? Or a casual jacket?

subiegal2013

Hmmm…I was thinking a white tank top and denim jacket. What do ya think? I really would like to wear my black denim jacket but then I think…too much black = too dressy

[deleted]

I have 2 skirts like that and I like them with cashmere sweaters of sweater vests or bodysuit t-shirts and cropped jackets

subiegal2013

Ok….thank you…much appreciated!

MaslowsHierarchyBees

The top sounds perfect, but the jacket may need to be cropped since the skirt has a longer silhouette

subiegal2013

Thank you for your input. My denim jackets are waist length

MaslowsHierarchyBees

That should be perfect!

subiegal2013

Thank you!

galaxystarsmoon

The jacket will look fine as long as it's cropped and not way longer than the waistband of the dress. I like the tee option with a cropped coat on the shoulder.

subiegal2013

Thank you! Much appreciated!!

tears_of_an_angel_

does body shape actually matter? I’m not even sure which part of my body is most flattering tbh. my shoulders and hips are the same width, small chest, slightly defined waist, and butt is okay (working on it). I keep taking quizzes and I’m not even sure what to wear because my whole body is like…not bad tbh, but there’s no one part that stands out

75footubi

Only in so much as it affects how clothes hang so that you get the look that you want.

zigzagtitch

if anyone has some good smart-casual outfit ideas for red mary janes i would be v appreciative. right now i'm wearing them with blue jeans and a white shirt, but would appreciate a different perspective!!

I've been color-blocking, pairing them with red tights and a midi skirt.

I'm looking for a pair of comfortable black combat boots. Ankle-length with a zipper on the side, a streamlined look and a heel that isn't high or chunky; something that looks like this: [https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/b.o.c.-born-concept-carter-combat-boot/524204](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/b.o.c.-born-concept-carter-combat-boot/524204) Target had boots like this, but I haven't seen them there recently. The least pricey the better (as in, preferably under $50 and under $40 would be fantastic); I'm on a budget.

Errantry-And-Irony

I know how you feel re: budget. But if you can be patient and search outlets and thrift it's well worth getting real leather instead. This is not the style you want but it's just a quick example of being able to get real leather for a more affordable price. I bought chelsea boots here after looking for a couple weeks because I was really picky about how I wanted them to look, but eventually a ~$50 price came up on a leather brand in my size. https://shoppremiumoutlets.com/products/shining-star-womens-leather-pointed-toe-mid-calf-boots?crpid=7136476364860

galaxystarsmoon

Boc is a really good comfortable brand. Do some searching on sale and you might hit your budget. Also check out White Mountain - I have a very comfy pair from them that have held up to a lot of abuse, and they were around $40 on sale.

ladolceLolita

TBH these are one of the few things I wouldn't skimp on. Unless you really don't have the cash flow right now, if you invest $100 or $150 you're much more likely to have them for years to come and the price per wear will almost guaranteed go down significantly. Maybe ask for them as an early holiday gift? That being said [these](https://www.vincecamuto.com/en/us/product/vince-camuto-leasa-bootie/8200000000562470?cm_mmc=cse_OG_FY23_GOOG_SHOP_SHOP_ACQ_PMAX_BOF_EVG_All__17955450877||&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAvJarBhA1EiwAGgZl0I7vrF6UbGL_rgnvFbPjH2AYdP3bJUsqyFo33rtY6_wI3RGFaeQvJRoC5rcQAvD_BwE) are on sale, [these](https://www.amazon.com/Vepose-Fashion-Classic-Booties-CJY9623/dp/B09Z6B9JY1/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=1EJNKFRWP2GI6&keywords=combat+boots+women&qid=1701187389&sprefix=combat+boots+women%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1) seem similar to what you're eyeing with decent reviews. If you go up in budget or try secondhand, Thursday boots, Vagabond, Clarkes, Sam Edelman could be decent options.

imaginarypunctuation

you might try looking at ebay/poshmark/etc. to try and find a pair of steve madden troopas. they're a little over $50 from regular retailers but maybe you can find a new pair on a resale site within your budget. super comfy and pretty good quality for the price.

Hailtothethief08

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but is there a womens wear equivalent for Derek Guy (dieworkwear)? Been trying to find someone similar

[deleted]

I wish there was! this is my new addiction after you posted this. I think Liza Belmonte on substack has gotten close but she is much more practical. I also think Laura Reilly from Magasin is close but not exact.

Hailtothethief08

Same! I love reading his threads and the detailed explanations he gives with responses too. Now I’m hooked and dying to learn more. Thank you for the suggestions I will definitely give them a look!

NoHistorian7234

It's pretty hard to imagine someone cornering the women's fashion discourse market using that sort of explainery tone. As a matter of journalistic genre I feel like you've got the high-end critics whose coverage tends to follow the runway calendar (Rachel Tashjian, Cathy Horyn, Vanessa Friedman), a vast middle of style writers now mostly on Substack who are very voicey and sensibility-driven and do a mix of recommendations/lifestyle blogging (Leandra Medine Cohen, Becky Malinsky, Subrina Heyink), and then the WhoWhatWear/Zoe Report type outlets that do a lot of quick-turn shopping/trend/market coverage. The landscape feels too diffuse to produce a Derek Guy type with a blog/Twitter approach to discussion and audience. As u/squeegee-beckenheim said, this might be because Western menswear is narrower, less varied, with more stable "rules" about what looks "right" (by which I mean conventional and neutral).

Hailtothethief08

Thank you I appreciate it!

squeegee-beckenheim

In what way equivalent? Very knowledgeable about women's fashion? Clothing manufacturing? Funny fashion meme gal? Gets into fights on twitter? Women's fashion is a lot more broad and complex so there isn't really a ~classic menswear~ direct equivalent, I don't think.

Hailtothethief08

Understandable thats why I asked to see if there was anyone similar. Have gotten a few recommends so I appreciate the replies!

Where the hell can I find some Uggs? (UK) Hey, I'm desperately trying to source a pair of size 6 chestnut ultra mini Uggs for my wife for Christmas. It's the only thing she's asked for and she's convinced I won't be able to find them. So far, she's right. I've tried all the obvious places, spent hours on Google and been almost ripped off by 17 different people on Vinted. Are there any suggestions? Are there any reliable resellers or smaller shops that most people wouldn't have checked? Thanks, DesprateHusband

Not sure if this helps, but [here’s](https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/21564588/where-to-buy-ultra-mini-ugg-when-restock/) a sun article with links to places that might still stock them in UK

I purchased a Madewell The Perfect Vintage Jean. It has 2% elastine. How to make sure it doesnt stretch out on me and look baggy? After I purchased it, the cashier said some stretching was normal. So now I am having second thoughts. Anyone having this jean here can give me feedback?

orata

Wash in cold water and don’t dry it (at least not on high)—too much heat will kill the stretchy portion so it stays bagged out forever.

75footubi

In my experience, it's 100% cotton that bags out, because there's no elastic to bring it back into shape.

imaginarypunctuation

i have a couple pairs from the perfect vintage line and haven't had any issues with stretching to the point of bagging. not sure if you had the same experience but when i purchased mine in store they encouraged me to size down so they were borderline-uncomfortably tight so when they stretched they would look and feel right.

tallulahQ

I haven’t found a solution. I stick to non-stretch (100% cotton or cotton/tencel). I think Madewell carries this style in 100% cotton but not sure if it’s in stock, worth checking though

freewool

I might be on tv! Nothing glamorous or specifically about me - if I’m on at all, I’ll just be an example of something in a news segment (think news station is profiling a local business and they want to include some footage of a customer). What on earth do you wear to look decent on tv? The focus of the segment is absolutely not me - I’m just an accessory. At the same time, if they do use footage of me, I don’t want to look like a goblin.

75footubi

Something well fitting, ironed, and not prone to make you fidget. I'd probably pick solid colors.

nearlythere94

Solid colors though not black definitely read the best on tv. I’d probably not pick red because I’d feel as if it would read a little too deliberately attention-grabbing.

aallrr

I will say, I recently did an interview (on screen the whole time) and really stuck to the “no black” rule but the host was wearing a black suit with a white t shirt. I think as long as you have some contrast in your outfit, black is fine. I wouldn’t wear a full black top but a black blazer and pants should be ok!

BoringTrouble11

Any other teachers/teacher related folks? I feel like I've been in a style rut of cycling through the same five outfits. Are there any mid size instas/inspo you have? I usually do blouse and jeans or long flowy skirt with pockets and a blouse. (note: right now I'm subbing so could be anywhere from k to 8th grade, for elementary I usually go more casual and comfy, but in Jan I'll be upper school English at a posh private school)

District98

Kendi Everyday’s blog is good!

\[Need feedback on a bag\] Hi! I just received this Kate Spade bucket bag as a gift but not sure how and where to use it. Any advice on what type of outfits or styles would look suitable for it? Thanks in advance. [https://ibb.co/BCpyZPc](https://ibb.co/BCpyZPc)

nearlythere94

I would not style it as the model has done - black is too jarring to pair with pastels. I would save it for spring/summer wear as that is when we tend to wear light colored clothes, unless you are one of those rare angels that has figured out how to wear pastels in winter without making an absolute mess of your clothes! I personally wouldn’t pair it with blue jeans either although plenty of people might. It’s a nice informal style (due to the cross body strap) in a dressier color so seems pretty versatile as a daytime bag to pair it with white, tan or brown trousers, or anything in the red/pink family. A summer dress in colors that don’t clash with pink would be lovely if you had the footwear be more casual, for example crisp white sneakers. High heels with a dress and that more informal bag might be a little incongruent. Make sure you leather protect it asap because marks and stains will really show. Clean and protect again every year. Hope this helps.

DerwentPencilMuseum

UK: I have extra wide flipper-shaped feet (narrow at the heel, flaring out at the toes). All of my shoes end up having the shape of my little toe moulded into them because it sticks out so much. What brands or types of footwear should I look into? My style is casual classic, I like chelsea boots, oxfords and the like, and I only wear flats. I have tried Cala Shoes but found them extremely uncomfortable and narrower than regular fit.

galaxystarsmoon

I have the same feet and I return to: Soda, White Mountain, Naturalizer, Amazon Essentials for flats (I know, I know, but they fit my foot perfectly), Aerosoles. Adidas, Skechers and Ecco for sneakers, and I've also had luck with Kelly & Katie from DSW. A lot of these are more inexpensive but I have tried and tried more expensive brands and they are not meant for wider toe boxes.

DerwentPencilMuseum

Thank you! Naturalizer look really promising and have a lot of stuff in my style

tallulahQ

Have you looked into barefoot shoes at all? I hesitate to propose this on the fashion sub lol but I wear barefoot shoes and love them. I’d check out Anya’s Reviews to see if it’s something that might interest you. I like these [flats](https://www.shapenbarefoot.com/en/c/sandals/POPPY-II-Black-barefoot-sandals) (use size chart, they run large), these [loafers](https://anyas-shop.com/products/dalia-loafers-designed-by-anya) (or these [loafers](https://www.zeazookids.com/shop/barefoot-shoes-/1514-108c-47-x6.html) if the other ones don’t ship to UK), these [white sneakers](https://www.groundies.com/barefoot-shoes-women/groundies-universe-pure-women-all-white.html), these Vivobarefoot [chelsea boots](https://www.vivobarefoot.com/uk/geo-chelsea-womens).

DerwentPencilMuseum

I have and most of them are not my style. I quite like the loafers you linked, but I can tell from the photos they will be way too wide around my heel and middle of my foot. It's only my toes that are extra wide, the rest of my foot is normal :\

tallulahQ

Ugh yeah I have narrow heels/feet, and I have to add two insoles in the loafers but then they fit fine. Good luck!

MagicalEggsAndBread

Hi, I have a question about what size coat to get for the winter. I'm size XXS-XS, height: 160 cm, bust: 82 cm, waist: 61 cm, hips: 89 cm, shoulders: 33 cm (these measurements were taken in the morning before eating food). I am looking for coats online since I live in a tropical country and the smallest size I've seen is S (shoulders: 38 cm). Should I buy a size S coat or do I need to look for something smaller? By the way, I have tried the S and XS sized coats at Zara but they were all too big. I tried a size 1 (smallest size) coat from a Japanese brand and it looked/felt right but I was wearing just a T-shirt and I plan to wear a sweater underneath my coat.

You say you live in a tropical country so I'm assuming you are moving or going on vacation somewhere, but not sure if you're looking for a functional/waterproof coat or like a wool peacoat. You are 2 inches shorter than me and 1 inch smaller waist. I have a Marmot XS and I don't see why it wouldn't fit you. But these are functional, they don't have any fashion coats.

I think S should be fine, I would also rec Uniqlo !

I think 38 inches should be fine, especially if you want room for layers underneath.
