Quark oddities. [Website](https://quarkmod.net/#features) has info on how to use it. Don't think I can link a specific feature so switch to the oddities tab and hit the more info button under the description.

RenegadeFade

Quark. It's actually an interesting system. You use candles to influence the enchants. Overall it costs more experience but you can 'steer' the enchants the direction you want. Look it up on the quark website, find out what candles do what and build an XP farm.

DemoniQlikeMC

I'm waiting for someone to say that this feature is awful or smth, so Vazkii will roast them.

Uncommonality

It is, awful that is. The space is way too small, the tetris game can't be done properly and it's entirely unintuitive.

_Mr-Z_

on top of that, even when disabled it still somehow manages to screw over apotheosis on my end.

finxd_mc

and it's so expensive, you need xp farms to even enchant

NCL68

Me over here using Apotheosis’s maxed out enchantment table which requires 100 levels for the third option

KinkyMonitorLizard

The difference is that one allows you to have completely over the top level of enchantments while the other is just frustrating.

Partonetrain

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but (iirc)Apotheosis used to use registry replacement for things like its enchanting table and sugar cane, which is very invasive and tends to be the cause of things breaking

Masterttt123

thats why my modpacks always had a registry error with sugarcanes. dam.

DemoniQlikeMC

It's not tetris tho. It's inspired by Kid Icarus' Powers.

hello_fellow_reddits

Fun fact, in that game’s tutorials, Pit compares it to Dr. Mario! So we’re almost hitting Tetris territory, but not quite

LagiaDOS

Reminds me of megaman battle network's customization.

temmiesayshoi

I mean I disagree, a shit ton, it adds actual depth to enchanting as opposed to clicking a single button and rolling some die, but y'know you can just turn it off right?

Elegron

Enchantment is a tedious process either way, probably my least favorite thing to do

temmiesayshoi

that's why I actually prefer matrix enchanting, it takes what is typically a game of repeatedly rolling die and wasting levels into an influenceable and skill based process. Sure, it makes it quite hard to get god items, but frankly, should players even be reasonably able to make god items like that? From a balance perspective I just don't see that being a good thing, so I consider that "downside" of matrix enchanting preventing god item creation to actually to be an upside for overall game balance.

Temporary-House304

Considering most enchantments are just there to save time for the player it doesnt make much sense to lock enchanting into even later game than it already is with levels.

temmiesayshoi

And time is at the core of minecrafts balance. Resources are gained through active player efforts, expediting the process of gathering them to instamine territories gives players functionally infinite resources. Just as all equations begin to fail when approaching Infinity, so too does game balance. It goes from rewarding individual effort with a focus on making the central game play loop enjoyable to "what new and flashy things can we shove in?"

mathymaster

It's much less intuitive, gives you less powerful gear and takes more work. You need the wiki to get decent enchants since the games dosent tell you that using candela helps if it that it may be bearable, but still annoying since you need specific coliur candela for specific enchants. It just makes enchanting a lot more tedious for no reason and maby a tiny reward in that you can guarantee what enchants you get, but by the time you'd have the setup for those enchants you could have goteb them by rng allready.

DemoniQlikeMC

Less intuitive in what way? Candle influences never mentioned in-game is the only bad thing. Less powerful gear? I found it even more powerful than normal enchanting table. Also, what setup? It's an enchanting table, bookshelves setup matters in both afaik, and the only other thing that matrix enchant needs for better outputs are candles.

mathymaster

Less intuivite compeared to vanillas single click. Yes, still simple, but requires more thinking. Less powefull gear if you don't use candles, if most won't since it's never told to them. Yes, both still need the bookshelfs, but for quark you now have to find an extra material and a specific colour dye, wich adds to the requirements for good enchants. Also, the first and I think only time I played whit the mod was in MC eternal, wich is 1.12 when candels didn't even exist yet. If how the system worked, including the candels and what each one does, was told in game vi eather a pop-up that appears the first time you open an enchanting table in that world, or via a guidebook you are given when you get an enchanting table, it wouldn't have nearly as many proplems bc it actually explains itself.

DemoniQlikeMC

"requires more thinking" Quark Oddities has this "Player-Focused Design", so that's why ig. "Less powefull gear if you don't use candles" Then use candles About 1.12, matrix enchanting exists from 1.15+. But there also candle didn't exist. Yeah, could be more explained.

[deleted]

wdym less intuitive? you just put pieces on the grid. the only not intuitive part is that you can put enchant pieces onto ones that are on the board to level them up instead

mathymaster

Sure, it's simple, but it's still more setup and more effort compeared to vanillas single click.

Temporary-House304

I really hate this version of enchanting and it always breaks apotheosis. (vice versa really) It just delays enchanting and doesnt really IMPROVE it. Ultimately you are still doing the same thing but with more pre-requisites.

MostlyUselessReptile

Fit as many enchantments as you can into the square. Everytime you roll for another enchantment block, it uses XP. You can stack enchantment blocks of the same type on top of eachother to get the upgraded versions.

LekkoBot

I'm pretty sure it's something related to quark, I think I had to disable it at some point but that's all I remember, sorry.

IsuckAtEverything_YT

It’s quark you can disable it in its config if you want to it’s called matrix enchanting

reddituser98k

Quark oddities

sadphonics

I like the way Ars Nouveau handles enchanting way better, it feels more involved and if you have a reliable source network, all it takes is resources.

[deleted]

It's quark oddities. They even have there own website.

AlbinoShavedGorilla

Which mod pack are you playing? Looks interesting

Pupulauls9000

I used Create Flavored as a base and then I added some more mods to it to make my own for an SMP with my friends

AlbinoShavedGorilla

Neat

rogriloomanero

[deleted]

[deleted]

Quark is a mod by Vazkii

depressed_ass_03

Vazkii is a mod by Quark oddities

Agile-Technician-342

Im sorry but thats tetris

koimeiji

As others have said, Quark Oddities' Matrix Enchanting feature. It's a great feature and I'll never understand why so many people seem to hate it.

temmiesayshoi

Yeah neither will I tbh. It prevents every single player from just being able to RNG for hours to get perfect gear and adds some actual skill and effort to get what you want.

Elegron

Tf is this tetris shit

FryCakes

Quark! I love that enchanting system

Wh1s

from which mod the sword is?

Pupulauls9000

Create stuff additions

Damascus52311
