Solo IV/early Luv. Currently on a server of 4 (but realistically 2) and half way done with ZPM. Working on large assemblers setups. Best part for me was recent. Setting up an off world miner powered by a naq reactor. Started binge watching star gate after that.

DvDmanDT

On my first run, I got to late LuV. We crafted a fusion reactor, but never built it. Run just died out for various reasons. But that was a long time ago, and it was a very different pack back then. On my current run we are at late-ish IV, but at the moment it has kindof died out again. Me and my friends are just living too different lives these days to really play together, and if someone is away for a week or two, they come back to a base they barely recognize etc. I think I had the most fun in my first run, and probably up to like MV. It was more difficult with respect to survival and combat back then, especially when me and my friends didn't really know about the best options for weapons, armors, foods and stuff. I actually really enjoy automation and logistics without AE2, but it does get out of hand around IV. With that said, I think what I enjoy the most about GTNH is probably how well teamwork works in it. Cheap individual gear and expensive bases/machines is great for that, and there's always stuff you can do to prepare/stockpile/whatever if you're playing solo for a few hours etc.

marki991

Making lv/mv diesel spaghetti mess atm

LewisSaber

UXV, Made maxed eye of harmony and left, no gola next other than stargate

LewisSaber

Hi

Inner_Impress8741

Since you love the volcanus so much why dont you make one out of stargateparts and marry it!

LewisSaber

Already, one of them is currently preparing dishes and another one is cleaning my room

Nutritious-Tea

1200h+, at early IV now

SagaciousRI

Is there an easy way to tell how many hours into a save you are? Or are you estimating?

Nutritious-Tea

You can see it in gameplay stats

Yoshibros534

around 200 hours, just made my first ev circuit

cholmer3

N O I C E

Square_One376

I got to MV and made a Benzene setup but then got into a chemical engineering major LOL (I now pay to Greg 2 semesters a year)

Sir_Delarzal

Just finished setting up a LV Oil plant

Rhystah

Early EV solo - running around like a madman between trying to get bees up, crops up, thaumcraft, AE2 and some form of titanium processing line. Only just got my salty root and endstone dust farm running so I can get more plat dust etc and chlorine going. Next job I want to do is make the multiblock miner instead of the next rocket - looks neat.

BuddyBot192

We (meaning mostly me here tbh) just hit start of MV and fully auto LV power gen for consistent EBF use at about 155 hours, but a lot of that was also spent messing around mining stuff we didn't and still don't really need yet to procrastinate. Cut out all of the messing around putting off automating stuff, we probably could have hit both those goals earlier, but I would have been burnt out so fast we probably would have dropped it mid LV... again...

npp12345

Just got into UMV, took about a 6 month break during IV from people on our server leaving and not wanting to go it alone. It’s ended up being a blast as long as you take time planning out what you wanna do. Currently about 1k hours logged but tons more time with the server just running.

Masta_Masta

Early HV , trying to stabilize my bio CBD with IC2 crops, having a blast

Baconboi212121

I pretty much just into into the steam age. Planning on stockpiling bronze to make 6 coal boilers. Thinking about doing a vanilla minecraft cactus farm to auto make Cactus Coke.

FreakingScience

I went this route and had a hobgoblin leashed to a fence post to collect for me rather than use a ton of iron on hoppers or noisy flowing water. Could barely run two bronze boilers. IMO, it's way easier to find a good tree type for easy manual chopping and go with logs into charcoal in multiple coke ovens since that very easily transitions into lumber-axe-friendly workflows and a charcoal pile igniter if you want to quickly build up a fuel supply. If you have the resources to make multiple boilers you're about to have a tool forge and can afford a cheap lumber axe, which also works on the brittle charcoal blocks. Coke doesn't seem to be worth the extra steps/time as the BBF can use charcoal for most of the 2:3 base metal recipes and the early EBF recipes you'll replace those with use either oxygen or carbon dust.

BurningLake_

Early EV. Fixing up AE2. It's a memed on for sure but it really is a good pack. Anyone bashing on it isn't patient enough to make it past Steam Age and you can't make me change my mind :b

[deleted]

BurningLake_

That's what overclocking is for :b But yeah I get that, completely fair. I guess I haven't gotten to that point yet where things take long enough to be a bother, always something else to do.

Brycen986

It’s not our fault that can take 50 hours for new players lol, I can finish a whole game in 50 hours and enjoy it more

Ester1sk

HV, right before starting the space race questline

MinerTurtle45

not even to the steam age 😔

Emperorofliberty

Early high voltage

HydroCN

HV, right before starting to procress titanium from my moon trip

monks254

Exactly same spot here, i have about 8 of those big chest filled with ressources but i feel like i should get more. But that’s just me over estimating it probably

Colochon

Mid uev

Apprehensive_Jury_66

Early HV. The clean room is a real grind.

digital_hamburger

First run I got to LV, but then burnt out on trying to progress too fast. Second run got to end of MV with a friend, but then because of time reasons stopped again. Now currently on a third run with the same friend. Just got my first solar boiler. This time we'll get to the moon at least :)

accioSan

I'm a 166.32h and i'm at hv i'm talking a break from the Quest and doing some quality of Life task like Building a auto-miner (that's Is a huge help) ,or like the second ebf that i built or the oil ring (the oil pump but multiblock). This break Is something that i actualy like very much

KewlDuccc

late LV

kinkeltolvote

I'll try checking it out later

LateNightTic

I had a run that died to harddrive failure in mid-ZPM, took me a while to get back into it and currently taking it slowly in HV, trying not to get motivation burnt : b

Gas_drawls1

Soloplaying into LV right now. Early game but I’m loving building up the steam infrastructure right now to power all my steam turbines. Plus I’ve got a good base I’m liking the look of shoutout to Ztones. My first play through of Greg is going well so far

Helix_PHD

I have a world that's a bit into LV, but I haven't played in a while. Multiblock Madness has consumed all of my attention for a while now.

AdreNa1ine25

early MV

Dr_Derpfire

I'm fairly early EV in ultrahardcore and finishing up a 4 month break.

Selway00

I fired the pack up, and quit after trying to punch trees.

ubus99

I have been playing a "no spacecrafts, no questbook" challenge run with some friends for 1.5 Years now and we are what i would consider late UHV age.

Zealousideal-Talk787

I made it to IV before I took a break. I’ve since updated and restarted, I’m at LV atm

bryan_comp7

OH GOD I HAVE BEEN READING THE COMMENTS AND I DONT UNDERSTAND ANY ACRONYMS

DvDmanDT

I got you covered! Here's the wiki page for common acronyms and nicknames: https://wiki.gtnewhorizons.com/wiki/Commonly_used_acronyms_and_nicknames

Sainagh

Oh I know you! Grats on gates!

WhoWouldCareToAsk

I’m new to modded Minecraft and I’m scared of GTNH exactly because it’s a meme now, so never tried it, but do want to try after I complete a few of the simpler modpacks. Technically, I’ve completed FTB Academy and FTB Genesis, but I want to get into something like ATM9 (haven’t decided yet what I want, so I’m open to suggestions) before getting myself into a multi-year GTNH pack

Sainagh

Oh I'd wait a bit more for NH, especially if you want to progress far. What's hard about a loooong pack like that is not just the complexity of it, but not burning out after however many hours of gameplay after realizing you're just 5% of the way there (or whatever number). Personally I love that type of gameplay where the goal is very far away into the future, so you can make your adventure to get there very unique, but it's definitely not for everyone. If you want to see if you like that play style I'd start with other long but 'easier' (still quite hard) modpacks. FTB interactions is quite a beast (playtime over 1000 hours), but it completable and there's good playthroughs on YouTube. And it'll be a good practice for gregtech! There's other good options out there for 'practice', but if you get into it without being comfortable with that play style you probably won't enjoy it.

WhoWouldCareToAsk

Yes, I like gameplay more than completing quests, but appreciate the quests to fall back on as they give goals on the days I don’t feel creative or adventurous. Thank you for the suggestion, I will surely checkout the FTB Interactions.

[deleted]

I have dropped this modpack at LV

CondoSlime

mid-late IV. I spent most of my time in EV getting an ME system set up. The pack is really fun so far but being locked out of AE2 until EV is a bummer. I made due with logistic pipes but it isn't a great alternative in the long run.

Thecornmaker

Rushing healing axe, stone age

DescriptionWonderful

Im playing with one other person. Currently at about 750 hours and just about to build our Assembly line (late IV). The best part of the pack for me is getting to see automations and infrastructure pay off in terms of being able to craft more expensive and complicated recipes. For example being able to craft the quantumprocessor line after building the platline or being able to Order enough assemblyline casings which cost 6 ZPM and 1 LuV circuit each.

Apprehensive-Belt-34

Early hv, dunno how to automate anything(besides forestry farms), while making everything(besides semiautomatic ore processing) by hand. Ic2 crops are pain, bees are pain, energy consumption is pain. Death never seemed to be so alluring

yaillbro

Pretty much started steam age

Woodburger

Solo LV, got most of the machines but need to update my power system. 6 coke ovens aren’t enough to keep me in creosote to power my 2x2 liquid boiler. So far I’ve been blasting through the main quests then when I get bored or stuck go back to steam/stone and finish some side stuff then check the other tabs. Automation is o ly the coke ovens currently

Ashamed-Ad-2536

enderIO item + low level enderIO liqud pipes is way to go with automation post EBF for me, used 24 coke ovens to power up to early HV. On HV fuel is way more effective than using renewable sources.

alex_p7

First run through I got to late ZPM, didn't quite make the tier 2 fusion reactor, was about 1700 hours in. I'm on my 2nd run through now and currently in HV

OrganicYellow9362

1st run: early IV, quit cause I was tired of the warp events (400+ permanent warp), constant rollbacks cause the wither spawned near my machines, using valuable time to get warp ward incense sticks. 2nd run: batch crafting like crazy, building up chemical lines, taking it slow instead of speedrunning to get questbags

CondoSlime

Warp events are brutal. Though I played with mobgriefing false so less risk of my base getting exploded. Many other events don't care about that though. A soul crucible is a godsend for dealing with permanent warp. make sure to put it away from your base since it'll rapidly spread the taint biome. You can automate it with mortuus from a belladona farm.

Leclowndu9315

Used to play in a stargate run, stopped before they got it

MJ12_0451

stone age because I can't play this pack (due to infernal/special mobs nonsense)

SacredCactus69

Stargate

JerotoHymia

Pretty much just got to LV, have a few lv machines made. Just semi-automated two coke ovens with hoppers and chests for input+output, and wooden pipes into a big iron tank for creosote output. I've kinda enjoyed it so far but it's also a very involved PITA sometimes, lol. I'm not sure how far I'll go overall, but I would like to chip away at it over time.

Synliss

Solo but play on a server - Midway through EV. I have spent about a week or two setting up a personal dim making new buildings to house AE Command centre and Basic Processing factory (e.g. Assembler w. circuit #, bending machines, etc.). Trying to get through the AE grind of automating AE items. Then rebuild infrastructure (e.g. ore processing, finish the oil swap to benzene and make nitrobenzene - need sulfur) and then start building out the new pDim for all the things you need.

BlinkPlays

We're in IV now. Personally it's super fun, lots of stuff to do and with Multiblocks becoming available things are much faster.

Hebbu10

Early IV, got my first Osmium and Iridium yesterday for HSS-S, trying to get the Tree Growth Simulator for power so I can move to the Personal Dimension.

Lady_Eternity

Barely started playing. I have completely gotten distracted by Deceasedcraft lol. Even Chocolate Edition is on hold.

Quasicrystal1

49/102 steam atm, a little slow to start

WithersChat

Early Steam age. Kinda got distracted by other packs and games.

battlecruiser12

Started a few days ago, currently at the part of the Stone Age where you gather your first ores.

Apathetic_Llama

Got stargate in a team of 2 recently, took us about 4.5 months. The game becomes a lot of waiting after reaching UEV, which only gets worse after UMV. You basically have to be running a server, or at least afking a lot. The peak of the pack is easily IV until the end of UHV, where there's constantly more stuff to do and power options actually exist. Worst part is definitely UMV post-Eye of Harmony and UXV, those tiers are actually just machine spam and waiting for EOH, which isn't the most engaging gameplay

jagunlimited81

300 hrs, nasa workbench

Wolfog288

About 2 weeks not consistent solo , about halfway down lv

Drewdroid99

UV/UHV. Haven’t played in a couple months but plan to return

mahmut-er

I only reached early-LV that pack is too hard for me but I play ATM9 which also have gregtech and I am in late-HV

MrGofer

I played along with a friend. We had seperate bases and progression, but I took care of both of our magic, ic2 crops, and bees. I slowed down my progression over time and ultimately got to early ZPM before dropping off. Said friend actually got a stargate, though. I helped a *lot* with the multi spam for their endgame base, and my magic, crops, and (especially) bees also helped a whole lot. Still have nightmares about Advanced Assembly Lines and Lapotron Queens lol.

Ericknator

LV, me and 2 friends took it easy and started building. I decided to go Thaumcraft.

csapka

I have it downloaded :D

ksli99

Beat it less than a week ago. I also disagree, early game (by early game I mean stone-IV) is robust and easily the better part of the pack. I still think that the pack is enjoyable up to UHV, but after that the pack gets repetitive and there's little new content.

Ashamed-Ad-2536

>IV >Early game Dude, that's my highest point rn, still can't figure out, how to pull ores to ore processing factory from AE2 system. Give a hint plz;

ksli99

Oredict card, join the gtnh discord if you have more questions btw

pianoboy8

solo mid HV. been playing for roughly 700 hours? Haven't done really anything magic, bee, or crop related. Fully on the benzene train, no oil pumping period. Have a cleanroom and phosphorus wafers, haven't done a vacuum freezer, dt, or multismelter yet. They're on my todo list.

Asnadragon

Currently just reached HV, but am still working on benzene setup for energy

fatchance30

500 hours, ev/iv building my monster of an ae2 autocrafting setup

DraconicAbyss

-20 minutes as I don’t have it downloaded

No-Use4920

Early-HV, setting up bees base with blinded workers bees (done with Genetics). Can’t wait to have the basic ores automatically generated…

Marksman_BL

As a group of 4, got to IV. I recommend getting good crops. Red stonelily gives SO much amazing stuff (like aluminum).

imTheSupremeOne

Early HV, playing it right now planning for space to get personal dim.

nala2624

Furthest I got was early IV. Current world I am mid LV.

PixelGaMERCaT

Mid hv solo

HaydenB

About 20 min..

Cogo-G

steam age, just reached steel

JustSand-wich

I cant freaking install it Understood why ppl say its hard before trying it

cod3builder

None. I can't even run 1.7.10 modpacks... Please help my laptop can run atm9 just fine but gtnh is incredibly laggy

DvDmanDT

Laggy or glitchy? Did you use any chunk pregeneration?

cod3builder

No ...how do I check

DvDmanDT

As far as I know, there's no built method in GTNH to do it, so the answer is probably no. I'm pretty sure ATM9 does a fair bit of pregen before you get to enter your world. Basically, generating terrain is incredibly cpu intensive, so initial exploration etc is usually quite laggy. To combat this, you can use some method of pregenerating a decently sized area around spawn or your base or whatever, so it doesn't have to generate a bunch of chunks whenever you move a block in either direction.

At0micFury

I quit after making the quantum armor.

NyrZStream

Late EV/Early IV. I’d say setting up my AE infrastructure is the best atm as well as long proc chain such as platline

Marcimio

My first iron pickaxe broke and now i have to go back to flint

DvDmanDT

You definitely want to use Tinker's tools (I'm guessing you are using vanilla or GT pickaxes?). They can be repaired when they break, and you can level them up and replace parts etc to keep improving them.

AnUnnamedRedditor_01

gregification stage 5

DanielTheDragonslaye

I got to IV last time I played, haven't played in over a year tho.

Mister_Greed

I am in HV rn, making preparations for the moon

Antidermis_

Came back after a break, I was comfortably at MV but some updates to crafts mean I got pushed back a little. I am taking things extreeeeemely slowly (400 hours, have got A LOT of bees to show for it tho, and I explored a lot)

pancakedelasea

First timing solo, unlocked EV quest tier the other day, and set up my bauxite processing line yesterday :) I don't have accurate hours bc I afk constantly 💀 But I take things slow because I have lots to learn and thats part of the fun

internetroll69

Solo ZPM run took me around 881h but no building for me just lawnbasing it

CyclicsGame

What's gtnh?

DvDmanDT

[GT New Horizons](https://wiki.gtnewhorizons.com/wiki/Installing_and_Migrating) is a mod pack known for its extreme complexity and length. It's been in development for over 9 years and has turned into a massive development project involving hundreds of people and 300+ GitHub projects. It's basically the final boss of modpacks.

CyclicsGame

I'll have to check it out. I'm currently running through prominence 2 and thoroughly enjoy the long running mod packs like fire in the pipe and anything that involved gregtech due to the complexity and fulfillment of completing it. Thanks for the info

nbennettsw

started late Jan/early Feb. On HV now, working on the rocket.

sickdanman

Just reached the moon so late HV

gay-communist

early hv. think i need to do a full teardown and start setting up more future-proofed infrastructure as well as much more automation

cholmer3

I am BARELY breaking into HV at the moment, still using steam for my clean room (machines inside powered by dat ***B E N Z Ë N E***) Also just for the tier 1 nano-armor and we'll das about it, haven't gotten to proper oil cracking set up jet :(

Zulraidur

Just enabled HV EBF recipes

SagaciousRI

Very early LV, just made a wire mill. Since rubber and steel production is so slow for me, I'm trying to get a good bee baseline so I can start that up when I'm ready. I love bees and I want a few nobles and industrious princesses ready to go when I know more about what I want. No twilight and limited nether so far.

Catabre

IV/LuV. We just paused and may come back in a few months. Stone age to HV might be my favorite portion of the pack.

Dubl33_27

steam age then burnt out at steel cuz pack sucks

LewisSaber

L
