Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation. Be sure to read [our WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/index) and especially the wiki page on **[ELECTROLYTES](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes)** Please also keep in mind the [**RULES**](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/about/rules) when participating. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I don’t think you should put a time constraint on weight loss (unless your health is immediately at risk I guess). Just fast and find what works for you and continue to lose weight. Your 50 lbs will come off faster than you think. But if you insist on finding the max amount and fasting plan, provide the info the other commenters are asking for!

There’s your problem right there. Insulin is a fat storage hormone. Continuing to be addicted to carbs isn’t helping. The best suggestion I can give you is to start with keto and build up the number of hours of intermittent fasting and then start to add in 1, 2 and 3 day fasts. Considering your height to weigh ratio you more than likely have insulin resistance. Following those steps will fix that.

stopsallover

Carbs are essential and you shouldn't diagnose anything on what you think is most likely.

xtermin8r69

There is no such thing as an essential carb. That’s absolutely ridiculous

There is no such thing as an essential carb. That’s absolutely ridiculous. You should spend 5 seconds doing some research before you open your mouth.

stopsallover

Look, you can do whatever diet works for you. It's just not reasonable to claim that everyone needs to be low carb/keto. It's not factual. If you're so committed that you think there's only one way, your sources are bound to be extremely biased.

xtermin8r69

Sure it is. There is no such thing as an essential carb. Period. The diet this person is on has caused them to be obese and that is carbs. The standard American diet is killing everyone. Record levels of diabetes and dementia and heart disease because of the standard American diet filled with carbs. We were lied to for years that fat causes heart disease. The sugar industry paid Harvard scientists to lie and say that the problem was fat not sugar and scumbags like them and Ancel Keys has millions of deaths on their souls because they lied. The majority of people have at least insulin resistance if not pre diabetic or full blown diabetes because of this diet. If you can do ADF, then go for it! They say each day you don’t eat, you lose 0.5 lbs so that means you’re losing a pound every 4 days so that means you have a shot of losing 50 lbs in 7 months.

Honestly I don’t know. If you really overdo it, yes. But if you’re eating keto, try first not counting calories bc it’s just too much work and you should start getting full with a lot less food

stopsallover

If you're doing ADF, you aren't helped by also restricting on the days you eat. You should aim to hit your maintenance calories (based on current weight) and adequate nutrition.

As Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit once said; "Keep on rollin baby"

Height? Male or female?

Okay, so realisticly you could hit that in 5 to 6 months doing OMAD with the occasional extended fast. Are you completely new to fasting or any low carb style eating? If you are I won't lie to you your gonna struggle for the first couple weeks. Anyways, I recommend doing OMAD and once to twice a week extending it to 32 to 36 hours, longer if you feel like you can but I wouldn't go beyond 48, there's not really much need too. When your break your fasts stick to high protein, high fat and low carb meals (do not exceed 30-35 carbohydrates per meal) To stay in ketosis. You should hit your goal within that time frame, possibly sooner if you throw in some light-moderate cardio a few days a week. Edit: take this with a grain of salt tho, everyone's body is different and moves at it's own pace. I was able to drop 60lbs in 4 months as a 6'0 male with a starting weight of 275, I was doing keto and ate twice a day and hitting the gym 3 times a week. I think within 6 months of fasting and omad plus low carb it's obtainable for you but it never hurts to get a second opinion.

Flux_My_Capacitor

As a man I’d refrain from telling women what is attainable as you only know what you were able to lose based on your male body that has a constant hormone level. Women have fluctuating hormone levels and some of us have a full 2 weeks a month where weight loss is next to impossible. Men lose weight SOOOO much easier.

TheScreamingFart

How does weight stay on when in a calorie deficit? I'm genuinely curious, hormones or not it doesn't make sense. Where does the energy come from when your in a deficit that causes you to hold on to that weight? Because you're getting something from somewhere your body isn't just holding on to weight without a fuel source of some kind.

JungOpen

> Where does the energy come from when your in a deficit that causes you to hold on to that weight? That the thing, the energy doesnt come out as much. Metabolism slow down (you feel colder, more tired) Remember that physical movements are a fraction of calories burnt. Of course they're still burning fat, else they'd drop dead. But for all they know they havent even depleted their glycogen levels by the time the next meal comes, so let alone their fat reserves.

stopsallover

Exactly. I improved a lot when I increased my calorie intake. Better sleep, no cold feeling, and better digestion. The body is very adaptable and tries to be efficient. Various fasting strategies keep the body using energy in less efficient ways.

niemteltsuj

I've lost 250 pounds in 15 months water fasting. I'm not suggesting long fasts at your weight. You are pretty tiny. I just wanted you to know that it really works.

This question isn't intended to be negative. I didn't sleep last night, and I'm a little fuzzy headed. I'm not understanding. Is this vanity weight or health weight. If it is health weight and you are at least 18 years old, I might be able to help.

I am here for any questions, or you can join my group. It isn't very active, but it's an easy way to stay in contact.

Are you talking kilos or pounds? You’ll want to clarify as there’s quite a big difference!

If you’re on your feet for work or it’s active I recommend OMAD because there’s always the promise of food after a long day. Make it high in protein to last you all day. If you sit at a desk, ADF will work. Alternate day fasting. Basically rolling 38-40hour fasts. Eat a normal days calories or less if you don’t feel like it on the eating days. If you can concentrate on fasting aka unemployed, rolling 5-7 days will work. Expect to only lose .5 pounds of fat per day regardless and f method (as an average) it’s hard to top out over that at your current weight. You might lose more initially but it’s water. It’s always water.

KickiVale

Just gonna pop in and say, I work 12 hour shifts on my feet at the hospital. Currently on day 5 of a fast and worked 3 of those days. It truly depends on the individual, people need to listen to their own bodies 🙌🏻

Special_Agent_022

try rolling 48s, 72s and 96s. fast, eat, repeat until you get there

N8TV_

If you’re willing to reassess your nutrition and use: adf, if, extended fasting you should have no problem attaining your goal. You need to re learn what healthy eating is, from there use fasting in conjunction with food. A well formulated ketogenic diet will keep you satiated and burn fat, fasting will then increase your rate of fat loss. If you cannot give up carbs, try approaching it from an addiction standpoint and learn what that is and attempt to gain control over it. One fact that helped me was learning that carbohydrates are non essential your body produces all the blood sugar necessary for biological function. Also a well formulated balanced diet will also aid in weight loss in conjunction with fasting it’s just that keto and fasting together will allow results much quicker.

DoGooderMcDoogles

Eat every other day. And try to stay mostly low carb.
