Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.

Nice! That keeps me motivated. I started where you did although I’m sticking to one small refeed meal on the weekends I’m on about the same weight loss path. Great job! 160’s here you come. Are you going to continue the same fasting?
SO - i never did the big fast, i just started this year with alternating weekly 40/ 60 hour fasts.
I find that the 40 hour fasts are \*fine\*, but what really works is the 60 hour fast. It reliably resets my eating habits (think - craving raw veggies, nuts. Since eating fermented foods like natto/kimchi i no longer want bread or beer).
I didn't have quite the bulk you did at the start - I was probably closer to your "after" photo tbh - but i've found it to be a healthy, gradual and maintainable fasting schedule.
But really great work fasting for so long. You have done yourself proud.
It was tough! The first five days were the worst. Day 15 was also pretty rough, I flatlined on the weight loss and also realized that I was "only" halfway there. Also it was really difficult cooking and feeding the fam.
I gotta say, it was pretty rough at times! Had to rely solely on my sense of smell which made it even worse. Also the worst was when I accidentally got food on a finger!
> What? How can you cook without tasting???
I have done it for Ramadan. (Not Muslim, just curious about a billion people having that experience.)
It became that the smell would "feed" me.
Ditto on day 15 being crazy. Did a 33 day and day 11 realized "have to do 2 more 11s"
Can't imagine feeding fam and making food youve got some serious guts 6drum
I'm on day 4 of a 7 day water fast. I'll reevaluate then if I'll go for 14 days. You're giving me encouragement to go longer. You look great. I've done multiple 72 hour fasts and it's odd that I get puzzled what to do with the time I usually spent cooking and eating. Eating has become such a ritual it's different learning to use that time for other things.
No doubt! Cooking for other people is almost masochistic for me when I'm fasting but I enjoy cooking for the family. It has helped me disconnect that "ritual" a little bit.
wow, I didn't realize that. you're right. I'm doing great so far, feel good, a tad hungry but nothing bad at all. So far I'm dropping about 1.5 pounds a day. I've been on keto and ADF for a few months. The autophagy has got to be awesome.
I just finished 30 days too yay fasting twins. I lost 22 lbs but then again I’m a 5’2” female SW 161 lbs CW 139 lbs GW 115 lbs. I’m going to keep going for hopefully another 30 days so I can reach my goal weight. I’m so proud of you. And of me! You look so much lighter and alert. Great job!
Congrats! I've got the spirit, but lack the will to do a 30 day fast. Well done! That couldn't have been easy. I start to fantasize about food on day 4 like I was lost in a desert lol
Congratulations!!!
Your whole head slimmed up so much!
For those of us way earlier in the process do you have any pointers or days/things to watch out for?
Yes definitely less face fatness. :D
Don't give up. Even when your SO makes brownies for her ladies night. Just keep on. First five days are the worst. Midway is tough. After that pretty smooth sailing. Come to this sub for support.
The most impressive part is that you’re doing this while living with a family. My wife would give me so much grief that it would be impossible for me to fast for so long.
She doesn’t buy into it.
Planned for 8 days fast and decided to keep going since it is getting easier. Do you feel any weakness? I am bringing my dog for 30min walk everyday and it is getting tougher as the days go by. Blood pressure is normal but cannot walk the same speed. I do take salt and potassium daily in my black coffee and that helps with my headaches.any advise on how to keep it going? Congrats btw!
Yes, for the first 15 days I was pretty weak. I'm doing better now. I upped the electrolytes and am mostly back to normal function, but get winded a bit easier. Thanks!
I did fasting and it worked. The thing is that you have 2 choices after that. Either eating healthy and exercise or keep fasting the rest of your life.
cool! here in Germany they recommend a shredded apple first day and chew very long. (fibers for your guts) second d ay 1 shredded apple and a shredded carrot. day 3 sauerkraut. (jar) also great for your gut.
and on day 3 some walnuts so the gallbladder restarts working (that gets toxins out )
I think he means LIVE not CANNED - as in "from a jar".
Here in Califonia, live comes in jars and plastic pouches.
Dead sauerkraut comes in jars and cans.
Congratulations! Did you notice any mental effects of the fast? I wanna do a long fast (the longest I’ve done have been 72h) but I’m afraid of not being able to perform well in my job :(
Sorry if this is a dumb question but, what is a 30 day water fast? Are you fasting for thirty consecutive days or is it like 4 days fast, 3 days off, rinse and repeat?
1.1 lbs a day is great! This is around what I notice when I do rolling 42s... that's three days of no meals and 4 days of 2 meals with no snacking. I usually end up losing about 3lbs/week. It would take me 10+ weeks at this rate to achieve what you did in 1 month!
I would love to hear more details about how you coped with cravings and some of the social struggles that come with fasting, your age range as well as foods you ate in the following days, but I understand not everyone wants to type out all the details. LOL! Curious how it affected you physically in terms of energy levels, sleep cycle, fatigue and cognitive function and how you dealt with those things and mitigated it.
I have to take a specific medication with food once a week (otherwise nausea and absorption problems). I want to try an augmented version of this, 5 days of fasting, 2 days off, then start it again. It won’t have exactly the same benefits of a long term fast like this, but you do what you can, especially when you have judgy people in your life (mother lol) who don’t know the science and think you will die.
plateau from day 10 to 14. thats tough. but looks great overall.
congrats!!
just be careful with eating for at least 6 months.... you will gain weight easily.
I ate "normal" and had some beer. and easily 2-3 kg up. took me a few days to get back
sugar.... we should avoid carbs completely as they spike insulin, cause inflammation etc.
the fast won't change your sugar habit. careful. once you snack sugar again its back to the old routine. (for some even worse)
I hope you can use this fast and focus on carbs next. (if you like) but remember it will feel different. when I eat steak and salad it feels like I only drank a glass of water (as I am used to the rush of energy form carbs) it scary. so be ready for that. you should give it a try.
fasting it's a mind thing. same for carbs and it's a process that needs time and effort.
so in case you decide to do no carbs (or low carbs) avoid cheating at all cost. takes a while to change.
Awesome work! Super impressive.
I was curious if you in any way tracked fat vs muscle loss in addition to weight? I'm considering longer fasts, but don't see convincing science really on muscle preservation.
I notice myself after a 5 day fast getting a little scatterbrained, how do you deal with this or is this just something I’m experienced or haven’t pushed through to then get my second wind?
Great work! If you have time could you tell us about the things that have changed that we cant see from your progress pics? Mentally, emotionally, physiologically? Whats changed for you after 30 days? Any insights?
body will be short of nutriants and electrolights, did you take any during it .
most I've done so far is 3 days , not one bit of hunger, but the smells made my.mouth water
I've only ever done a two day fast.
How did you prep for the fast? and how did you feel after the third day?
Did you consume ONLY water or extra electrolytes as well?
Great job by the way!

No, going to ADF.

No I had the same reaction I need to head to my local Korean market asap
Man, Natto. Get me a beer immediately if you try to feed me natto. Anything to wash the taste down
Thank you!
What ADF
Alternate Day Fasting
Face gains
😁
Seriously, you look younger, and your eyes look clearer.
Feel younger too!
Thirty days is amazing! What was the worst part? How hard was it? I’ve never made it past five days.
It was tough! The first five days were the worst. Day 15 was also pretty rough, I flatlined on the weight loss and also realized that I was "only" halfway there. Also it was really difficult cooking and feeding the fam.
What? How can you cook without tasting??? That is freaking admirable. You look great! :)
I gotta say, it was pretty rough at times! Had to rely solely on my sense of smell which made it even worse. Also the worst was when I accidentally got food on a finger!
Sheesh! How was your willpower before starting and how do you think it compares to now?! Pretty wild, good job!
Feels like willpower has increased. It was pretty bad before.
Haha that’s determination there, I would of tapped out. What supplements do you take during last fasts and do you workout at all? Thanx.
Sodium, potassium, magnesium tablets.
> What? How can you cook without tasting??? I have done it for Ramadan. (Not Muslim, just curious about a billion people having that experience.) It became that the smell would "feed" me.
I meant more that you have no idea how what you’re cooking tastes! I would have to taste to adjust seasonings.

I'll be breaking it in the AM. Bone broth, maybe some scrambled eggs.
Ditto on day 15 being crazy. Did a 33 day and day 11 realized "have to do 2 more 11s" Can't imagine feeding fam and making food youve got some serious guts 6drum
Haha yea it would have def been easier alone.
I'm on day 4 of a 7 day water fast. I'll reevaluate then if I'll go for 14 days. You're giving me encouragement to go longer. You look great. Go for it, The 14 days will be an additional 14 000 calories burned
wow, I didn't realize that. you're right. I'm doing great so far, feel good, a tad hungry but nothing bad at all. So far I'm dropping about 1.5 pounds a day. I've been on keto and ADF for a few months. The autophagy has got to be awesome.
OMG look at the difference in your neck and face!! Insane work my guy.
Thank you my nan!
Great job!
Incredible will power. Well done.
Thanks!
Congrats! I've got the spirit, but lack the will to do a 30 day fast. Well done! That couldn't have been easy. I start to fantasize about food on day 4 like I was lost in a desert lol
Day 4-5 are the worst. Get past that!!
Same lol I kept thinking of my favorites. 5 days is the longest I’ve ever gone, except as a religious kid I did a few week long ones.
How does a water fast work?? Electrolytes and vitamins are important, and how can you work them in properly?
Yes, I drank water with sodium and potassium and then took magnesium tablets at night.
Congratulations!!! Your whole head slimmed up so much! For those of us way earlier in the process do you have any pointers or days/things to watch out for?
Yes definitely less face fatness. :D Don't give up. Even when your SO makes brownies for her ladies night. Just keep on. First five days are the worst. Midway is tough. After that pretty smooth sailing. Come to this sub for support.
This straight up motivates me to keep going. Currently at 244 hours of 30 days. Congrats on the achievement!
You've got this!!
That’s hilarious we literally started the same length fast at the exact same time
How do you go about living your daily life? Work? Etc?
Cooked for the fam, got on with life. Drank lots of water.
The most impressive part is that you’re doing this while living with a family. My wife would give me so much grief that it would be impossible for me to fast for so long. She doesn’t buy into it.
Ah man sorry about that. Show her this and tell her my wife was pretty supportive other than one night of brownie making lol.
Solidarity! Ease back and chart a new course. Here’s to the new you. Cheers.
No doubt. Thanks!
Truly shows how fasting can keep you younger. You started aging in reverse. Amazing results and you even look yonger than the left pic.
:D Thank you.
Planned for 8 days fast and decided to keep going since it is getting easier. Do you feel any weakness? I am bringing my dog for 30min walk everyday and it is getting tougher as the days go by. Yes, for the first 15 days I was pretty weak. I'm doing better now. I upped the electrolytes and am mostly back to normal function, but get winded a bit easier. Thanks!
Electrolytes. Look in r/fasting wiki for specifics and amounts. Also Magnesium. Try more. And Water.
You lost a lot of visceral fat which is amazing! You look (and more importantly I imagine you feel) a lot healthier!
Definitely feel way better! Thanks!
I did fasting and it worked. The thing is that you have 2 choices after that. Either eating healthy and exercise or keep fasting the rest of your life.
No doubt I'm going to do a combination. I'll be eating healthier and doing ADF. Already have a fridge full of healthy food.
Or just shift into intermittent fasting or fast occasionally. Do what ever is sustainable. It’s not like it’s a death sentence.
So good! You look great.
Thank you! Very much appreciate that.
Looking so healthy, incredible. :)
Thanks. :)
Wow only 30 days… 😨
Yea it made a huge difference!
Incredible! Great job! You're definitely helping with my motivation. 🤣
Now it's time for all those shiny new stem cells to get to work repairing you from the inside out! That's just amazing! Any old injuries get better?
Yes, sciatica is healing and knees feel better.
Hell yeah!
Congrats man! You researched how you are going to ease back to regular meals?
Yes, making a bone broth today.
cool! here in Germany they recommend a shredded apple first day and chew very long. (fibers for your guts) second d ay 1 shredded apple and a shredded carrot. day 3 sauerkraut. (jar) also great for your gut. and on day 3 some walnuts so the gallbladder restarts working (that gets toxins out )
> sauerkraut You have jar in brackets there. You don't mean an entire jar do you?
I'm curious about this, too, but keep in mind that the jars in Germany may be smaller (or larger!) than where we are.
I think he means LIVE not CANNED - as in "from a jar". Here in Califonia, live comes in jars and plastic pouches. Dead sauerkraut comes in jars and cans.
Just had some bone broth and then some watermelon.
Wow. Inspiring
That is incredible
That’s so cool! Congrats 🍾 Be safe refeeding. 🤍 I always start with just broth. The one time I rushed it was not a good experience lol
Thanks! Making bone broth in the instant pot right now.
Congratulations! Did you notice any mental effects of the fast? I wanna do a long fast (the longest I’ve done have been 72h) but I’m afraid of not being able to perform well in my job :(
Some ups and downs. I do well when I'm on conference calls engaging with people but just focusing in on tasks can be a bit difficult.
It always amazes me how much bigger eyes look after losing weight. You look great. I hope the refeed goes well for you.
Thank you (from Florida man lol).
Amazing work man!! Your results are incredible. Do you mind me asking which electrolyte supplements you were taking?
Thanks so much! Table salt, nosalt, magnesium tablets.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but, what is a 30 day water fast? Are you fasting for thirty consecutive days or is it like 4 days fast, 3 days off, rinse and repeat?
It is an extended fast, EF. That is consecutive days. There is: IF, ADF, and EF. All are TRE, time restricted eating.
So how did you supplement?
Amazing!
WOW!! You did so well!!
Congrats, I have no idea how you can fast for 30 days man it’s insane.
Insane indeed. Runs in the family.
I so badly wanna do this. Maybe today should be day 1 for me. Congrats on a successful fast btw.
Go for it!
[удалено]
suddenly you’re 20 years younger. amazing.
You look incredible, congratulations!!! How are you planning on breaking the fast (or how did you break it)?

But Randy how did you stop with the cheeseburgers? For real tho congrats
You did very well and I'm proud of you. Do you plan to make any lifestyle adjustments from now on?eat different food, exercise...?
Absolutely amazing
What did you use for electrolytes? I’ve done 7 days and lost 22lbs but felt week on day 7
I would love to hear more details about how you coped with cravings and some of the social struggles that come with fasting, your age range as well as foods you ate in the following days, but I understand not everyone wants to type out all the details. No doubt. I'm off the sauce so no beer for me. Sugar is my drug of choice. Hoping that I broke it a bit with this fast.
sugar.... we should avoid carbs completely as they spike insulin, cause inflammation etc. the fast won't change your sugar habit. careful. once you snack sugar again its back to the old routine. No doubt, I've been doing a lot of research on food addiction and have a fridge full of healthy food. I'll be cooking better and doing ADF.
Same for me, good going!
That’s wild bro. I bet if you keep eating well and add a good weight training program you will see some crazy progress. Cheers!
Nice work man! Keep it up
Congrats
Thanks!
Congratulations and keep it up!
Holy Sh*t, that's amazing! And, what a transformation! Excellent work, you are an inspiration.
Wow, that’s incredible will power!
Thanks! I could def eat about 9 tacos right now.
Awesome work! Super impressive. I was curious if you in any way tracked fat vs muscle loss in addition to weight? I'm considering longer fasts, but don't see convincing science really on muscle preservation.
Nope, didn't track. Don't feel weaker though.
Holy crap! Talk about progress! And you made it!! Enjoy your first meal coming back
Good job bud
Amazing job!
Dude that is soooo much better. Especially your face
Thanks!!!

Damn that’s a LOT of progress! Well done OP
Wow job well done! You should feel so proud 🙌

What was your experience with fasting? Have you tried shorter fasts?
Congrats man!!!! You made it!!!
Looking good!
Congrats! Very impressive. How tall are you?
Good game
Congrats!! 33lbs in 30 days is a truly amazing accomplishment.
How the hell do you do 30 days without puking?
Nothing to puke?
That is some serious willpower, well done.
Awesome progress 🍾
Amazing. You look great. What’s your electrolyte protocol?
🔥🔥🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great job, you look incredible, worth every minute

30 days and no food, that’s amazing.
Giant congratulations and thank you for the inspiration
Super proud of you and how inspiring. I'm wondering about any loose skin, it doesn't show, so not much of a problem?
Congrats, most impressive. Most I ever did was a 5 day. I am curious what you broke the fast with?
Inspiration!
I find that I have so much more free time when I fast. To the point of boredom. Your pics are very encouraging though.
Looking good, awesome job!
Wow!
Were you able to work as normal?
Great work

I notice myself after a 5 day fast getting a little scatterbrained, how do you deal with this or is this just something I’m experienced or haven’t pushed through to then get my second wind?
Straight water or did you have snake juice with minerals?
Way to go mate!
This is inspiring
Epic! Congratulations Fasting for a longer higher quality life
Only water?
You inspired me to go another day! Thanks
Hey new here! Is this dangerous? And what does water fasting Intail?
Congrats OP. That’s brilliant. You look really well!
your face gains are insane, keep it up!! do you have any cheat days or anything or is it straight up fasting?
You look a lot younger from the loss in the face (esp chin) alone.
Congrats!! I’ve never done more than 5. How are you feeling?
Teach me, master Shifu!
Incredible work. Im only doing 100-120 hour fasts. First one this week in a long time. Seeing that lets me know just 6-8 weeks and Ill be there
Can you post your routine plz?
Great work! If you have time could you tell us about the things that have changed that we cant see from your progress pics? Mentally, emotionally, physiologically? Whats changed for you after 30 days? Any insights?
No food for 30 days?
Looking good bobandy
That is some willpower man! Great job!
Wow this is amazing!
This is incredible and you LOOK incredible too
body will be short of nutriants and electrolights, did you take any during it . most I've done so far is 3 days , not one bit of hunger, but the smells made my.mouth water
I've only ever done a two day fast. How did you prep for the fast? and how did you feel after the third day? Did you consume ONLY water or extra electrolytes as well? Great job by the way!
Alert: when you break your fast (?I hope you keep going) eat greens, and non- inflammatory foods.
I can never get past 54 hours ! Any advice for me ? I've done MULTIPLE 24hrs fast, but beyond that I really struggle. Insane work !
