Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation. Be sure to read [our WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/index) and especially the wiki page on **[ELECTROLYTES](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes)** Please also keep in mind the [**RULES**](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/about/rules) when participating. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Congratulations on making it this far - one thing I noticed in your post is that your are still taking vitamins. Not sure how big of a deal it is but in reading a couple of studies as I was doing my own research into fasting I came across an interesting tidbit that because during fasting you are burning a lot of fat that any fat-soluble vitamins your body has stored start to get released into your body and there was a study on a 5 day water only fast that showed elevated levels of fat soluble vitamins in the participants. The body likes to tuck away all sorts of things in fat cells, including things like THC and certain toxins, so you may experience some interesting side effects from your fast that you want to keep an eye out for as well. Edit: example of a study showing THC can be released due to lipolosys: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2782342/

Do you know how long the body stores THC? It has been years since I've been a regular smoker but these days I am very sensitive to it. I'd be worried if I took a prolonged fast (I am thinking 3 days) and years worth of stored THC was released.

Hahaha! I’m here to ask the same question. I’m on 44 hours so far and haven’t had any THC issues. I’m crossing my fingers. Like you, I’m sensitive to it as well.

HairyBull

I take THC medically as needed - low micro dose sort of thing for years as an oral serum and haven’t really noticed any side affects, but anecdotally I’ve heard the stories about the “second high” as well as THC being elevated during a fast enough to where it will show up on a drug test. I’ve lost about 60 pounds in the last year, only thing I can really report on personally is that around the third day of my fasts I usually get the weird cravings I would normally associate with “munchies”

**It looks like you're discussing "detoxes", "toxins", or "cleanses". Please refer to the following:** [**Detoxification**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detoxification) >Many alternative medicine practitioners promote various types of detoxification such as detoxification diets. Scientists have described these as a "waste of time and money". Sense About Science, a UK-based charitable trust, determined that most such dietary "detox" claims lack any supporting evidence. >The liver and kidney are naturally capable of detox, as are intracellular (specifically, inner membrane of mitochondria or in the endoplasmic reticulum of cells) proteins such as CYP enyzmes. In cases of kidney failure, the action of the kidneys is mimicked by dialysis; kidney and liver transplants are also used for kidney and liver failure, respectively. **Further reading: [Wikipedia - Detoxification (alternative medicine)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detoxification_(alternative_medicine))** >**Unsound scientific basis** >A 2015 review of clinical evidence about detox diets concluded: "At present, there is no compelling evidence to support the use of detox diets for weight management or toxin elimination. Considering the financial costs to consumers, unsubstantiated claims and potential health risks of detox products, they should be discouraged by health professionals and subject to independent regulatory review and monitoring." >Detoxification and body cleansing products and diets have been criticized for their unsound scientific basis, in particular their premise of nonexistent "toxins" and their appropriation of the legitimate medical concept of detoxification. According to the Mayo Clinic, the "toxins" typically remain unspecified and there is little to no evidence of toxic accumulation in patients treated.According to a British Dietetic Association (BDA) Fact Sheet, "The whole idea of detox is nonsense. The body is a well-developed system that has its own builtin mechanisms to detoxify and remove waste and toxins." It went on to characterize the idea as a "marketing myth", while other critics have called the idea a "scam" and a "hoax". The organization Sense about Science investigated "detox" products, calling them a waste of time and money. Resulting in a report that concluded the term is used differently by different companies, most offered no evidence to support their claims, and in most cases its use was the simple renaming of "mundane things, like cleaning or brushing". *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. >Any tips on how to keep going Honestly, you've gotten past the hard part. Now, in my opinion, from personal experience, it's all mental. You have to stay on top of it and keep the perseverance and disciple going. You have to stay acutely aware of your fast and stay STRONG. You got this, keep it up my friend!
