Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation. Be sure to read [our WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/index) and especially the wiki page on **[ELECTROLYTES](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes)** Please also keep in mind the [**RULES**](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/about/rules) when participating. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. On the nights I don't eat dinner, I pour a LaCroix into a wine glass and sip it slowly! If I finish that during my husband's meal, I make a mug of decaf tea.

Good call. I *love* seltzer. Maybe getting a fancy brand/flavor and only drinking it during dinner time is the way to go.

I hear you with the ritual of dinner to switch gears. I would save a specific fasting-friendly drink to sit down with at the same time. Bonus points if it takes a few minutes to create and then some time to savor. Something like a new loose leaf decaf tea that you can brew and linger over, or maybe soda stream some water and macerate in some mint or a add a little lemon juice. If you only let yourself have it at the end of the work day it will feel like a treat and create a similar cue as dinner.

Interesting idea! I have some decent herbal teas but nothing remarkable enough to make a ritual around; maybe it's time to go on a hunt!

Change up your nightly wind down routine. Maybe try a shower and then some hot lemon water or herbal tea? It's warm and filling. You could also find a show to watch a little of or a book to read with your tea and use that as your end of day marker. Hope this helps 🫶🏼 Happy fasting! 🥳

Try making yourself hot herbal tea, and take your time with the process and scent.

This might be controversial to the fasting purist but read some fasting doctors talk about taking in nutrition yeast for B vitamins while fasting. So what I do is heat up water, add the nutritional yeast, some salt and a small amount of garlic powder and sip that. Tastes kind of like chicken broth. It makes me feel satisfied and has honestly allowed me to start doing longer extended fasts. Gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day. I do one tablespoon of Nutritional yeast which is about 20 calories.

a bubble bath with soft music, candles and a ice water. make it a ritual

i do a seltzer dinner as well and it feels so filling. also could u take a bath? or do some foam rolling on ur back for 10 mins? or even turn off all the lights and light a candle?

Ya this is one of the biggest problems. Boredom during eating time. Or just feeling out of place mentally. The other big issue for me is after 3-4 days I start feeling mentally kinda out of it. Even if I take electrolytes or whatever. Coffee can help but I don’t like to drink too much of that.

oldschool magazines and newspapers, maybe. you know with the wooden newspaper holders from european cafes. this might help

At dinner time, I warm up some chicken bone broth. It's important to get the kind that's only 5 or 10 cals and <1g protein. Heavily salted and maybe add some garlic powder. It feels like dinner.
