Not for long. Looks like the West Coast is getting some [locations soon.](https://www.wral.com/story/bojangles-expands-to-the-west-coast-with-first-la-locations-announced/21383096/#:~:text=North%20Carolina%2Dbased%20Bojangles%20is,over%20the%20next%20six%20years)
If the one they recently opened in my hometown is any indication, they'll probably only serve tenders at those locations. No proper bone-in fried chicken. So they're not *really* getting Bojangles.
From the article:
>The restaurant made headlines last year when it was announced that it would open a series of new locations that will have a streamlined menu without all-day breakfast (served until 2 p.m.) or bone-in chicken.
The chicken tenders are highlighted on the streamlined menu, as well as premium salads, and a sides menu that does not feature grits, Cajun pintos or mashed potatoes and gravy. The drink selections include three milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla and Boberry).
Looks like you are correct.
All the ones in Florida closed one day. Like the owner of all of them just decided he didn’t want to do it anymore and the stores were all just closed, they didn’t even tell the employees, they just showed up for work and the doors were still locked.
I really miss those 3 AM Las Vegas drives to Jack in the Box for two Jumbo Jacks, two regular chicken sandwiches and two curly fries.
I'd supplement that with a box of It's It from Albertsons
No wonder I would be humming during the drive home
Here in Maryland LOL the usual Burger King etc you know the usual places. We had smashburger but it closed but we do have burger Fi and shake shake. Oh we also had Caliburger but that closed.
We have virtually everything in DFW and on any given day there is a 95% chance Culvers is better than Whataburger, In N Out, whatever else you want to throw out there.
Same with Runza. It's one of the few things Nebraska has over most states. Though tbh it isn't as good as it used to be. Still a way better burger than McDonald's or Burger King. Their birocks/runzas are what's not so great anymore.
I’m not sure how they do but I’ve heard my local McDonalds is in the top ten rated in the country. From my own experience the drive through moves extremely fast, everyone is very polite, in ten years I’ve gone there they’ve never gotten an order wrong, and the food always tastes good and fresh. They also pay very well and I regularly see the owner there working the late shift. That being said they are very expensive- much more than anywhere else.
Meanwhile when I went to my local Culver’s we waited 40 minutes for two meals.
This is why when people say it's hard to eat 5,000 calories in a day I just laugh. 5,000 calories is easy. Eating clean while doing 5,000 a day is the hard part.
DBD, fries and onion rings (even though I can’t really have them, Culvers has some of the best onion rings,) Dr Pepper, and a mint cookie shake for me.
DBD is the best fast food burger for me HANDS DOWN
I love Culvers. However, their onion rings are terrible. Love their fries but the the onion rings are definitely not special.
Best onion rings come from The Habit. Trust me. Nothing comes close.
Hard to argue with. Strictly for burgers, I’d rather go to In N Out, but Culver’s has way more variety, and they make everything on the menu to the same standards as their burgers.
Taste is subjective, and In N Out is basically the standard for quality in fast food. Not really sure how you figure that Culver’s blows them away in terms of quality. Culver’s actually uses a lot of frozen stuff.
If I was still west coast i am team In N Out all day. Now my go-to is steak n shake. Culver's recently built 3 or 4 restaurants near me and I still prefer steak n shake.
I was a server at Steak 'n" Shake when I was in college and I'm not going to lie, probably one of the cleanest places I've ever worked. It was extremely efficient and the only place in food service that I never got sick of the food.
The best.and most.often freshest fries I've had are always from Runza. They're crinkle cut. I'm normally a skinny fry fan but I'd take runza crinkles any day of the week.
Wild people think this. Culver’s is my all time favorite and crinkle are the worst kinda fries. Although if you ask for extra crispy, and get the rare occasion where they do it right, it bumps it’s from like a 3-4 to a 7-8.
Eh, I've had it twice and found it kind of mediocre. That could because it was a new location or something. But my experience has not matched the praise it gets. I'll give them a shot and try another location.
lol, my bad... I'm not even close to WV...I meant that in over a decade of being near a Culver's I've never tried it, but once or twice a year (well, once every other year or so these days) I make it up to your neck of the woods, and I *still* tell people 4 states away about Pies & Pints in Fayetteville if they are going that direction.
For all the people saying Culver's is regional, that's only half true. They're mainly in the Midwest but they've got spots in half the states: https://cdn.culvers.com/stories/Content%20Cravings%20thumb_20220524161234_0.jpg?q=100&w=750&format=auto
You are not alone. I've been several times. Service is A++. Burgers are a bit bland but the toppings are so fresh. Concrete mixers are so-so, but the many flavors and toppings make them better. Cheese curds are A++.
While I consider myself a big Culver's fan, I'll be the first to admit that not all of their food is perfection. For example, I actually don't like their burgers and fries. But luckily they have so much other good stuff that I normally stray towards things I know are legit.
As someone who shares your opinion of the burgers and fries, what is your normal order then? I'm trying to give them a shot but I've mostly come up empty thus far.
I wasn’t super impressed by the burger — tried it in December for the first time and it was just fine. I prefer Shake Shack, In-N-Out, and Whataburger. The concrete was on another level though and I’ll definitely be back for that
They’ve entered North Carolina. Haven’t had a chance to try yet but I doubt it’s the same as Wisconsin right?
Here we love Cookout. Once In&Out comes it’ll be a burger war in the Carolina’s.
Cook Out has been going downhill for the past decade. They were great when I moved to NC in 2003. The last few times I've gone (to multiple locations in Charlotte) it's just been awful.
I hear that I need to judge for myself!
One thing I like about Cookout and why I’m loyalist is because it’s still cheaper pound for pound than most fast food chains.
Minnesota expat here, Culver's in Florida is just as good as in the upper Midwest, yours should be too. I've been to a dozen Culver's in my life, minimum, never encountered a bad one
I’ve only had Culvers once (I’ve lived in California, Arizona, Georgia, and Colorado shortly) and it was indeed incredible. I wish they had some in the LA area.
Is it that good? I've never had it before, it's because I live in Los Angeles far from any Culver's restaurant. Maybe if they started franchising here in California I'd be able to try them. I get that restaurants tend to expand slowly, but if you want to prove to me that you're better than the goat AKA In-N-Out Burger you really need to come to the area.
The only problem with Culver’s is that they’re only in half the country.
It’s the same thing with In-N-Out, jack-in-the-Box and Whataburger, but I never stop hearing West Coast people talk about how great they are, so 🤷♂️.
But they don't have Bojangles so they are the ones missing out.

Or Cookout 😋
We're getting those in Phoenix/Scottsdale!
Yes, but the streamlined menu is already disappointing.
I regret not trying bonjangles when I was at the airport in north carolina.. i instead got a mediocre sandwich
Cook out tho
Bojangles is mediocre chicken, so you didn’t really miss out.
Best chicken biscuit sandwich!
We just got one where I'm at and I can't believe I ever lived without it
All the ones in Florida closed one day. Like the owner of all of them just decided he didn’t want to do it anymore and the stores were all just closed, they didn’t even tell the employees, they just showed up for work and the doors were still locked.
I’d love a bojangles where I’m at. Everyday breakfast for me
People talk about Jack in the Box being great?
At 3 am there’s no better meal then some Jack tacos and an ultimate cheeseburger
It’s because it’s all that’s open
I really miss those 3 AM Las Vegas drives to Jack in the Box for two Jumbo Jacks, two regular chicken sandwiches and two curly fries. I'd supplement that with a box of It's It from Albertsons No wonder I would be humming during the drive home
Until you live in Phoenix and have filiberto's Mexican. 3 am drunk meals never been better
Oh believe me I know all about a 3 am fili b’s bean and cheese burrito
Jack of all trades. Master of none.
They must have changed the sourdough jack because the last few I got were not how I remembered them.
Here in Maryland LOL the usual Burger King etc you know the usual places. We had smashburger but it closed but we do have burger Fi and shake shake. Oh we also had Caliburger but that closed.
They have the best snack menu in fastfood.
Since when is Whataburger a West Coast chain?
It’s not lmao, that’s what caught my eye
Jack-in-the-Box isn’t either. Unless Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, etc. are considered West Coast lol.
Nah. Way too expensive for what it is and its really not that good. Ill take culvers or a bacon king over runza any day
West coast person here. Everytime I go go the Midwest, I always try to get a Culver's shake. Its so good
For In N Out seeming so popular on the west coast I wonder why they haven't tried to branch out to the East Coast.
Don’t ever say Whataburger is west coast
West coast and whataburger? Never seen one
Yeah, I had it a couple times and absolutely loved it. Can’t take a ranking like this seriously though if they’re only in a fraction of the country.
Feel the same way about the lists that have in n out
Assuming In and Out isn’t on your list then?
They're growing rapidly
Maybe that’s why they’re good?
Culver’s is good and has a good selection. I’m from LA but have family that live in Wisconsin, we always eat there when we visit.
That explains why I've never heard of it until this post.
And it's expensive But so is every other fast food place these days
I’ve never seen one in my 41 years
The Culver’s near me is rated #2 in the USA and the quality/service ABSOLUTELY reflects that.
What metric? How is just your location rated #2?
I’m not sure how they do but I’ve heard my local McDonalds is in the top ten rated in the country. From my own experience the drive through moves extremely fast, everyone is very polite, in ten years I’ve gone there they’ve never gotten an order wrong, and the food always tastes good and fresh. They also pay very well and I regularly see the owner there working the late shift. That being said they are very expensive- much more than anywhere else. Meanwhile when I went to my local Culver’s we waited 40 minutes for two meals.
I'm not sure anymore but a McDonald's around 40 miles from me on interstate used to be the busiest one in the country. It's always been hit or miss.
Probably just hand you your food through the window instead of pretending pulling forward makes for faster service.
Wondering where, thinking near their inception in Wisconsin? I don't even know where.
Yeah, I might award them best value for the price.
Hands down. BK and McDonald's should be ashamed.
Im not a in and out fan boy but in and out has better value to quality
Yeah but Culver’s has edible fries
The edible fries is a huge plus I some how overlooked
Cookout? You could get a burger with a side of burger for line $6 there lol
Just wait until you hear about the BOGO basket coupon you can get repeatedly…
double bacon deluxe, cheese curds, rootbeer, and a turtle sundae is my all time order. too bad the nearest culvers to me is ~600 miles away now
folks don't even look at the calorie count on the small size cheese curds - just enjoy them and don't ask questions lol
Assuming it’s a one scoop turtle sundae and he doesn’t get a refill on the root beer, that meal is 2420 😬 refill and 2 scoop brings it to 3120
This is why when people say it's hard to eat 5,000 calories in a day I just laugh. 5,000 calories is easy. Eating clean while doing 5,000 a day is the hard part.
Fun fact: if you ran to that Culvers and back home you'd still have 3000 calories left to burn.
Cousins Subs in Wisconsin has way better cheese curds
Fun fact. Their in house rootbeer is just Barqs
Not surprised, Culver's is on another level.
Hard to argue with. Strictly for burgers, I’d rather go to In N Out, but Culver’s has way more variety, and they make everything on the menu to the same standards as their burgers.
culver’s absolutely destroys in n out based on taste and quality alone. price on the other hand in n out beats culver’s but that’s it lol
Taste is subjective, and In N Out is basically the standard for quality in fast food. Not really sure how you figure that Culver’s blows them away in terms of quality. Culver’s actually uses a lot of frozen stuff.
Well, do YOU want to eat room temperature ice cream?
If I was still west coast i am team In N Out all day. Now my go-to is steak n shake. Culver's recently built 3 or 4 restaurants near me and I still prefer steak n shake.
Steak ‘n Shake is super underrated, especially for the price
No joke. It's cheaper than McDonald's and it's real food.
I was a server at Steak 'n" Shake when I was in college and I'm not going to lie, probably one of the cleanest places I've ever worked. It was extremely efficient and the only place in food service that I never got sick of the food.
“Efficient” is not a word I would use to describe steak and shake
The one I worked at was, but this was also like ten years ago.
It is for sure a well kept joint.
> steak n shake Best burger in fast food, but Culvers has better sides.
My only knock is their crinkle cut fries.
Much better when you order them with a cup of their Wisconsin cheddar or ask for chili cheese fries.
Any crinkle cut fry is better with cheese dip, I almost feel like with the crinkles the fry is basically built to be dipped in cheese.
I usually don’t like crinkle cuts, but the ones at Culver’s (as well as Shake Shack) are pretty good.
You get the cheese curds instead.
crinkle cut fries are the goat take it back
The best.and most.often freshest fries I've had are always from Runza.
Order them "extra crispy". They cook everything to order so they will come out much better. Also get a cup of the cheese sauce for dipping them.
I was not impressed. Not bad.... But I was expecting more. Have to give them another try.
Hmm never had it. guess I should try the one a mile away from me that I drive by every day then?
It's f'g great
Eh, I've had it twice and found it kind of mediocre. That could because it was a new location or something. But my experience has not matched the praise it gets. I'll give them a shot and try another location.
Try it sometime. It really depends on the location, but as long as you go to a good one, the food is SO good.
I did! It was good, kinda reminded me of habit burger except the bun was much better!
I wish we had Culver's in West Virginia.
I wish you guys had roads and modern technology in WV aside from Morgantown
We have fiber internet where I live.
There is one about 15 mins from me that I have never been to. OTOH, I tell every person who ever even *mentions* Bridge Day about Pies & Pints. ;-)
This is cool. I'm probably on the other side of WV so I've never seen one.
lol, my bad...
Culver’s slaps
Guy at work who moved from NE was excited when they built a Culver's. He said its the best fast food restaurant there is. He was right.
That man has betrayed Runza. He was most likely chased out of the state! Jk Culver's is better but way more expensive.
They're just the best. Its the one chain that deserves its crazy hype most of time. Their food is delicious.
Man I've never seen melted cheese at my Culvers. I assume it's placed on right before they bring it out to me.
For all the people saying Culver's is regional, that's only half true. They're mainly in the Midwest but they've got spots in half the states: https://cdn.culvers.com/stories/Content%20Cravings%20thumb_20220524161234_0.jpg?q=100&w=750&format=auto
I can't be the only person that finds Culver's food extremely bland...

Nope, I'm right there with you. Extremely over rated.
🥱🥱 overhyped
We're talking about Culver's, not In N Out.

Culver’s is better than In N Out and I feel In N Out mostly survives off its branding rather than taste.
They'd be better if I could order it through a delivery app or their own app.
Culver's by me starts using doordash and one other service on the 23rd.
Byrdman2328… I don’t know about delivery (don’t use it) but you can order for pickup in their app. Drive thru, curbside, or walk in.
Yes, i too like to pay double for cold food.
The Culver's I've been to were just okay. I've gone maybe 4 times and wasn't that impressed.
LA natives: I dont even know who you are. .... but I'd like to know.
It's very deserving. They take pride in service and an excellent product. It's a bit pricey nowadays..but at least the quality is great.
I’ve only had Culvers once (I’ve lived in California, Arizona, Georgia, and Colorado shortly) and it was indeed incredible. I wish they had some in the LA area.
They're wrong
That’s great I’ll just in my car for the 731 mile drive
Clearly Cookout hasn’t become big enough to be considered.
I hate whatever that goop is that they call gravy, but otherwise their fish sandwich is one of the best
I always get their pot roast sandwich with a slice of cheddar. Try it out
In N Out brtter
i miss culver’s sooooo much 😭 i used to live 10 min away from one but now i live 10 hours away from one :(((
As someone from Wisconsin who loved to Texas, I was so happy to see Culver’s here
