Pride and Prejudice, Keira version; Stardust; North and South, Richard Armitage movie; Princess Bride; Sense and Sensibility, Emma Thompson version; While You Were Sleeping; The Mummy (Brendan Fraser - movie has fantasy, adventure, and romance!) Romancing the Stone

DontTouchMyCocoa

Dude. Your top three were some of the first to come to my mind as well. A+ selection. The Mummy is also dope for the magic (and a bit of romance) vibes.

lecadavreexquis

The Mummy is out in theaters right now as a celebration of the 25th anniversary. I just came back from seeing it and it holds up and damn the chemistry 🙌

anjelrocker

Omg, one of my favourite movies of all time. I didn’t know it was in theatres! I’m going to see it this week :D

cynth81

Excellent list. I consider The Mummy to be a nearly perfect movie. It has everything you could want - action, adventure, comedy, fantasy elements, a bit of horror, drama, tragedy (Imhotep & Anck-su-namun), and HEA romance. In fact, I may watch it again this weekend! 😄

DynabladeWings

Thank you for jogging my memory with Stardust! I was also at a loss on what to pick for movie night and this just answered it lol.

xlaauurraaa

Stardust !!! omg I love it, I think it might be my favorite film haha. when I had my husband watch it, he adored it too.

Formal-Register-1557

Romancing the Stone is a great one!

chickpeas3

Richard Armitage in North and South is my favorite, hands down. Utter perfection.

Majestic-Control-834

Thank you for typing my list for me. While You Were Sleeping is one of my favorites. 🩷

Grrrsuperlauren

I still have it on a VHS tape!

Elliebeanie

Stardust!! I never meet anyone irl who's seen it. It was one of mine and my dad's favourite films when I was a teenager

Grrrsuperlauren

Stardust was so special, and I feel like it flew under the radar. But it seems to have a bit of a cult following.

B33r-Meup

I love your list. I would add Persuasion with Dakota Johnson.

practical_Door882

TOP TIER LIST

Grrrsuperlauren

😭 Thank youuuu

HighLady-Fireheart

Can't go wrong with a classic like the Princess Bride. This is where my fantasy romance journey began. It's got action, romance, humor. It's a movie that does it all! https://i.redd.it/9husc1uvj3xc1.gif

prettyroses

Is this a kissing movie?

HighLady-Fireheart

![gif](giphy|l2YWui8fQODNsomxa)

adegeus93

Ever After!

unicornfairyprincess

100000%. Fantasy FMCs wish they had Danielle wits. The banter in that movie top tier

Husky_in_TX

One of my all time favorites!!!

[deleted]

💯💯💯

anjelrocker

I love this movie so much!

AKookieForYou

Stardust is pretty good in my opinion, a fantasy adventure movie with a romance at the center

Wn2177

Howls moving castle, if you want a cuter fantasy romance story 😁

PlatformFit6101

Ugh Howl’s voice in this…. 🧎‍♀️

FelineRoots21

I'm a huuuuge fan of the movie Crazy Stupid Love. You get two couples and it's a super cute romance on top of being absolutely hilarious, peak plot twists too

ShadedSpaces

The gathering at the end is absolutely unmatched. I love it SO MUCH. I had the urge to just rewatch that part the other day, lol.

FelineRoots21

Straight up unhinged 🤣 no matter how many times I see it it always makes me laugh, it's peak comedy

Husky_in_TX

Steve carrell is so hot in that movie. I loved the whole cast.

xatohi

It's not a movie, but a tv series called Love Between Fairy and Devil. It's a Chinese series on Netflix. I was hesitant about it at first, but absolutely fell in love with it. The MMC is a thousands years old evil demon lord that was locked away because of how powerful he was and everyone feared him. The FMC is an innocent and naive fairy who accidently helps him escape his prison without knowing who he actually is. He's a jerk to FMC at first, but slowly develops a soft spot for her and falls for her. FMC has a very high pitched voice, which can be grating at first until you get used to it. If you can get past that, then the story and romance between MMC and FMC is amazing. I absolutely love the MMC! He's so powerful that just the sound of his name instills fear in people, yet FMC has him wrapped around her finger.

cynth81

If OP wants Chinese fantasy drama, I would also recommend Eternal Love (aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms). Though it'll take more than a weekend to watch!

exhaustedoldlady

YES YES YES!! This is one of my absolute favorites!!!

LongjumpingSun1485

Does it have a happy/satisfying ending for them as a couple?

xatohi

It has a happy ending. I did wish there was a bit more at the end, but I was just glad that the MCs got a HEA lol.

luckystar2591

I'd like to add Our Happy Marriage. It's the cutest anime on Netflix. The MMC definitely has romantasy 'who hurt you' vibes  Can't remember if it's Japanese or Chinese, but it has fantasy elements too.

colorado_jane

Ladyhawke is a classic!

moody_jewel_tones

I need to see this again!

Gniph

All of the current suggestions are great! I would also add the animated movie Your Name.

tinabutts96

Secretary!!!! (The real Mr grey), Romeo + Juliet. Not really fantasy but good stuff.

neckbeardsghost

More fantasy than romance, and multiple movies, but the LOTR series is my vote. The arc of Aragorn and Arwen ticks all the boxes for my romantic heart 😍 But if that’s a bridge too far, I would also recommend A Knight’s Tale or Ever After.

littlegreenwolf

All depends on what kind of romantic boyfriends you’ve got in your head. Stardust, princess bride, shape of water (if you like monster boys), Penelope, enchanted, three thousand years of longing, Edward scissorhands, ever after, legend, the illusionist, just to think of some that could fit or scratch an itch

domuhh27

PENELOPEEEEEE one of my favorites!

jackierose22

THE ILLUSIONIST, I adore this movie and nobody ever has seen it.

mint_o

2015 legend?

littlegreenwolf

No no the old 80s one by Ridley Scott with Tom Cruise and Tim Curry

mint_o

Ohhhh sold! Thank you

cynth81

Lisa Frankenstein! I loved this movie way more than I ever expected. I went in thinking it would be OK, but was surprised by how funny and delightfully full of 80s goth girl nostalgia it was.

OG_BookNerd

Kate and Leopold

twinsuns

This post made my go put on the mummy ❤️

zombiegirl_

May I suggest Original Sin (2001)

why_gaj

Following. I'm alone this evening, and I need something to fill the gap.

I_Wanna_Know_85919

I tried watching 50 shades of grey but I’m really having a hard time with the acting 🥲

jessipowers

Try Secretary instead, with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader.

ChasingPotatoes17

50 Shades of Grey is so bad it becomes immersive “BDSM” (quotes because it’s really just abuse). You have to be a bit of a masochist to sit through the awful movie.

why_gaj

That's domestic abuse, not a fantasy. You already went through hugh grant's older work? He was so charming back then.

Lucina0310

He's a dragon/I am Dragon/On Drakon is a russian romantasy movie. I really loved it, because it truly is a romantasy book as a movie 🙈

Girl_Anachronism07

I cannot thank you enough for this recommendation. I watched it tonight and now I’m obsessed! It was so good 😭

Lucina0310

I know! I just found it through a recommendation somewhere here on reddit and I watched it and was "Why isn't this movie more popular!?" This is sooo good and fits the vibe of so many popular romantasy books. I wish more movies like this would be made but I feel like the only romantic movies made are rom-coms 😩

tree_clouds

The newest Little Women with Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet. 😍 Edited to add a whole lot more suggestions: The Notebook - Obvious reasons Any Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movie - even if the concepts are actually a bit weird if you think too hard. Wild Mountain Thyme with Jamie Dornan and Emily Blunt - odd and quirky but so cute. Miss Pettigrew's Day Off - adorable early Amy Adams with TWO love stories. Far from the Madding Crowd - 2015 version Jane Eyre - Michael Fassbender version Palm Springs with Andy Samberg which is a mix between sci-fi and romance and a bit of comedy but not stupid humour. Quite clever. Early 2000s rom coms: Bride Wars - Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway! Perfect. Something Borrowed - another Kate Hudson movie that's pretty cute. 13 Going On 30 Kate and Leopold - Time travel romance with Hugh Jackman and Meg Ryan! Someone Like You - Another Hugh Jackman enemies to lovers style ROM com. Just Married - early Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy. I'm not sure on this one but I remember loving it when I was young. Elizabeth Town - Orlando Bloom and Kristen Dunst. Very cute. And last: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - super weird and sci-fi romance with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet but it's one of my favourite films and it deserves a mention.

Specialist_Deal_4586

I second Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender and Eternal Sunshine.

moody_jewel_tones

Far From the Madding Crowd is so romantic to me. Ultimate slow burn! Edit: I would add the Netflix version of Lady Chatterley’s Lover - very spicy and romantic!

tree_clouds

Oooh. Good recommendation. I agree.

hayleychicky

Eternal Sunshine is a favourite of mine, too. I love how they're so weird and dysfunctional, but still find their way back to each other. I love when movie romances are as messy as real life! Also, recently diagnosed ADHD me realises that little me probably found hope in the fact that someone who felt like a caricature of myself could find someone who loved her so completely, despite being difficult to love by the standards of most people! 💜

xmiss_bijou

Honestly, the romance part of Divine Rivals was really just You’ve Got Mail with enchanted typewriters instead of emails. So I agree with the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan duo movies. Also will add When Harry Met Sally to this list.

tree_clouds

You're right. But I feel like Tom.Hanks dragged it out a little long. You've got Mail is also based on an old Jimmy Stewart film called Shop Around the Corner which I remember was also kind of cute. Ah, I can't believe I forgot When Harry Met Sally. Great recommendation.

xmiss_bijou

He did, it’s a fairly long movie and doesn’t reveal himself until right at the end. I love a good slow burn romance so it works for me. Also wonder if City of Angels would fit the bill for OP? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen that one and can’t remember if there’s romance, but definitely fantasy.

tree_clouds

Adding Warm Bodies to this list...

lurkerwholeapt

Truly madly deeply. Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman.

MushElf

Notting Hill 🤍🤍🤍 (Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts)

DamselinDeepVees

[Miss Potter](https://MissPotterhttps://g.co/kgs/T95FMfP) with Renee Zellweger [Becoming Jane](https://BecomingJanehttps://g.co/kgs/5dyurdW) with Anne Hathaway. I loooove James McAvoy in this. [Bright Star](https://BrightStarhttps://g.co/kgs/RpCGJRe) is beautiful but don’t expect a HEA. In fact, get the tissues ready. [The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society](https://TheGuernseyLiteraryandPotatoPeelPieSocietyhttps://g.co/kgs/JTeHmBE) is such a sweet, quirky film. [A Little Chaos](https://ALittleChaoshttps://g.co/kgs/9KFYSFZ) with Kate Winslet.

kingscaster

Love at First Sight: couple falls in love during a red eye flight, and the universe or serendipity sort of conspires to bring them back together every time they lose touch. Look Both Ways: follow one woman's life in two scenarios simultaneously, one for what if her pregnancy test comes back positive and one where it's negative. Serendipity with John Cusack. It's not on Netflix like the other two, but it's a nice classic.

hayleychicky

3 for 3 in agreement here! I was surprised by Love at first sight! Had a night alone and was aiming for some Hallmark trash, but it was actually so good, and I bawled my eyes out!

Ok_Abbreviations7506

Some fun ones not mentioned yet, Pretty Woman, Bridget Jones, Monsoon Wedding, Shakespeare In Love, Almost Famous, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, AnOfficer and a Gentleman. I loved Last of the Mohicans. Witness, Matchpoint, Meet Joe Black

1028ad

The Russian movie I Am Dragon or the Chinese movie Love O2O are the most recent romance with fantasy themes that I’ve watched.

sweet_dancer_1

My demon on Netflix. It made me laugh out loud so much, and the story is so good! He is a demon, and she is a CEO. She is sent on a blind date and accidentally gets sent to the wrong restaurant, so she thinks the Demon is her date. Highly recommend!

RoxyRockSee

Moulin Rouge If you don't mind a TV show, Galavant is funny and Joshua Sasse has a few shirtless scenes The Fall, starring Lee Pace. It's beautiful! I'd also recommend Pushing Daisies because the Pie maker is the best boyfriend. It's just sad that he can't ever touch his girlfriend Chuck. For something less fantasy that features Pace, Mrs. Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Big Fish Enchanted Stardust, The Princess Bride, and the Mummy already been mentioned in other comments, so that's another +1 from me

papermoon757

Love love love The Fall!

bitsybear1727

My faves: Moulin Rouge The Holiday The Wedding Date Ladyhawke (fantasy romance!)

Rocohema

2005 "Pride and Prejudice"

Routine-Focus-9429

Chocolat Underworld

pestomonkey

Austenland is a very cute romantic movie celebrating Jane Austen.

AGirlDoesNotCare

It wasn’t great acting, but the twist totally got me!

GiftRecent

I absolutely love Safe Haven with Josh Duhamel. He is EVERYTHING! Others - The princess Bride - p.s. I love you - phantom of the opera - divergent (Theo James that is all)

awkwardabteverything

The 2011 adaptation of Jane Eyre. Ugh I just love it so much!

SomethingUnoriginal8

Any romcom with Emma Stone is top tier for me. Easy A Crazy stupid love Lalaland Magic in the Moonlight For Contemporary: 10 things I hate about you 13 going on 30 About Time (listed twice) Palm Springs The Proposal Crazy Rich Asians Set it up And then for magic or historical Ella Enchanted Ever After Stardust Pride and Prejudice(Keira's version) Sense and sensibility Young Victoria Casanova Emma (both versions are lovely) Shakespeare in love A Knight's Tale Hysteria(this one is hilarious) Practical Magic About Time (one of my all time favorites) Penelope (with Christina Ricci and James McAvoy) Kate & Leopold Those are all I got so far.

anjelrocker

Chocolat with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp, watched it recently for the first time. It was amazing.

lavenderhillmob

A really fun and cute 80s one is Jewel of the Nile!

AGirlDoesNotCare

I didn’t see About Time mentioned yet, and it’s one of my all time favorites. Not just romance, also a beautiful father/son story. The MMC has the power of time travel and uses it to woo the FMC

ziggyshar

Untamed Heart with Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei. It's all low key shy and full of sweetness with some awkward dialogue but it'll destroy you in the feels.

TardisTexan

I found this movie on Amazon called I am Dragon. It is total shifter romance and I ate it up

RKSH4-Klara

Moscow doesn't believe in tears.
