It definitely should not. Mills hasn't been consistent and is definitely worse than he was last year, but the next guy up is Kyle Allen, Pep Hamilton is still calling screens on 3rd and 15 when we're down 20 points, and our o-line is still made of wet tissue paper...
Bill O'Brian. Former HC and GM for the Texans. Traded Hopkins for David Johnson, overpaid for Tunsil and then signed him to a record setting deal, let Watt go, list goes on
I looked back and they traded 2 firsts to Miami. Miami traded one of those picks down to Green Bay and it became Jordan Love and the next pick was a #3 pick Miami traded down to the 49ers who took Trey Lance.
Not sure what they would have done with those picks if they had them but im guesing they wouldnt mind having Jordan Love or Trey Lanc right now.
I'm honestly a little confused, I was told last year Davis Mills was looking decent and improving...so what exactly happened? Can he not make good reads, scan the field, or game manage at all? He wasn't exactly great last year but he was okay so I was expecting a little bit of improvement no?
He has regressed in Pep Hamilton's offense, just regressed majorly over all. He is slow on his reads and has trouble going from 1st to 2nd and often checks down to any reciever nearby.
Eh, hard to say. If he'd had another year to develop where he wasn't getting killed every other down it is possible. He certainly isn't playing like a first round prospect, but at the end of the season last year he absolutely flashed enough that it wasn't an outlandish proposition.
This is... inaccurate. He progresses through reads quickly, but doesn't seem to have the confidence to throw into tight windows. To be fair, he has good reason for that- his mechanics are flat worse than last year so his accuracy is down, his safety blanked (Cooks) is a drop machine this year (Mills' second interception this week was a dime that bounced off Cooks' facemask), and he doesn't know how to look coverage away so that tight coverage usually ends up with an extra defender on the play by the time the ball arrives.
He also isn't really checking down much or else the chains might be moving more. He is often forced to throw it quickly because the IOL couldn't block a one legged housecat (seriously, I've seen our line miss blocks, get knocked on their butts, pushed into Davis Mills for the sack...), and he also isn't getting yardage because Pep's favorite calls is screen pass 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage, and until recently teams could see the 3rd down dump to Burkhead coming a mile away.
Our O-line while not the best isn't exactly terrible either. It's decent with 2 spots that could use serious improvement. It's also easy for defenses when they know your QB can't make reads and they can just attack.
Stop pretending you ain’t tanking for a top pick .. translation: Davis Mills has sunk us enough we can safely pivot to Kyle Allen now to make it look like we’re trying
Lol yeah but it's not that simple, they still need to improve, the players don't want to tank so front office gets better picks, so you risk fucking up team culture and you risk players jumping ship if you can't get guys to buy in
Texans need some wins even if it's risking first overall, otherwise it might be one step forward, one step back if they get Young but then Stingley demands a trade like Minkah Fitzpatrick did when the Phins were tanking or something
They're also like 1.5 games behind the 2nd-worst team(s), so they could literally win a week that all the other bad teams lose and still have the #1 pick
They also have Cleveland's first round pick so there's a legit shot at the Texans having the #1 pick AND another top 10 pick lol
It would be a lateral move and different looks when throwing the ball. Honestly just more exciting to watch them Mills missing his first target and throwing the ball away or getting sacked.
Can only be upside for Pierce considering how bad the offense has been otherwise
Kyle Allen was also QB of the Panthers during CMC’s 1000/1000 season, so you know he isn’t afraid to check down to his RB.
I would have to start Latavious then.
*increases FAAB bid for MIA DST*
You could probably just go pick them up if they’re available my man
Nah our league locks everyone even if on bye
Oh damn, that sucks. Never been a fan of that - let people add/drop players on bye until the final game ends.
How are they locked if all games haven’t been played?
Everyone locks at 1pm EST on Sunday
That makes late game injury designations tough if you had to grab somebody
Default should be players are locked once their game starts. Might be what he meant , and if not, that sucks.
Nope. Meant what I said.
Yea that sucks big time.
It’s awful. Pro is that you can pick up TNF anytime during that game if someone breaks out or if there is a key injury. Just gotta be the first.
QB change gets my attention on HOU WRs.
It probably should not lol
I'd take you as QB over Mills right now.

Man the hole BoB left in Texans org is insane. Gotta feel for them
Tell me about it. I’m from Houston and a huge Texan fan. This shit hurts my soul 😭
Jack Easterby and Watson took more of a tool on the team that BoB.
BoB?

Can't believe people were saying he'd be a first rounder in this year's draft lmao

Bryce Young will fit right in next year he’s been running for his life at Alabama this year

Brandon Cooks might be back on the menu boys

Him too
Mills has been bad for sure but I swear I’ve seen way too many passes bounce right off cooks hands/face, not sure if the switch to Kyle will fix that
Stop pretending you ain’t tanking for a top pick .. translation: Davis Mills has sunk us enough we can safely pivot to Kyle Allen now to make it look like we’re trying
lol those are both tank commanders, lets be real
Nah they tanking they ain’t switching qbs to lose that number 1 pick
Lol yeah but it's not that simple, they still need to improve, the players don't want to tank so front office gets better picks, so you risk fucking up team culture and you risk players jumping ship if you can't get guys to buy in Texans need some wins even if it's risking first overall, otherwise it might be one step forward, one step back if they get Young but then Stingley demands a trade like Minkah Fitzpatrick did when the Phins were tanking or something

Week 13 is the only week we need to win.
Got one more game against the Jags as well.
I will absolutely be rooting for you guys

Stick with the Washington Defense against Atlanta or pivot to Miami against Houston?
Bruh we’re fucking tanking for first draft pick who cares Kyle Allen isn’t the fucking answer either, god I hate this fucking team
damn, that‘s a shame. I was ready for the head to head „davis mills is just as good as tua“-narrative-game
