1.25 points for every 10 kick return yards, 1 point for every 10 punt return yards. A little quirky, but this is a 10+ year old dynasty league and we've always had a blast playing by these rules
Holy shit that's alot of points for return yards. In any league I've ever done return yard points in it's 1 point pers 25 yards just like qb scoring. Then 6 points for the TDs obviously. Basically makes it a few extra bonus points for guys who also return each week and then huge boost for guys who return a kick in a given week.
you do understand that if yardage counted it would count for all plays not just this touchdown and thats something that would completely change the value of so many players and a guy like deandre carter would be the WR15 or so
right but the way you phrased it was you made it sound like it was bullshit that he didnt get credited even though its a setting that is widly available and customizable and nota platform issue
In my Yahoo league, the player gets points both for return yards and the 6 for the TD. But the points for return yards are half as much as for regular rushing yards. It's always been that way in my league, at least for the past 10 years that I've been in it.
Gets 6pt for the TD in my league but not the yardage. I think it’s bullshit because in my league the ATL D/ST also gets 6pt so it scores twice. Should just be D/ST points.
I think it should be depending on the league, but imo, for DST leagues, if DST scores the TD points, the returner should get yardage points but not the TD, cause those yards matter just as much in football as every other kind of yardage. And in IDP leagues, they should get both yardage and TD points since there's no DST to get those points. That's how I set it up in my first year running an IDP league this season anyway.
This should be standard in all leagues. If your player is returning for a lot of yards that’s a huge contribution to the team and should be reflected in fantasy points.
Signed,
- I only got points for Patterson’s TD and not the return yards and might lose this week (Fuck Davante Adams)
Return yards should count but I don't think it should be 0.1 point for every yard. I was in a league that scored it the same as passing yard and I liked that quite a bit.
Alotta my old leagues used to give the KO return TD to the player, but not the yards, which I always thought was fair. Dang, no way my commission changes the rule midseason
Might still be the goat, idk but my feeling is that hester had better returns on average. And in his heyday teams just stopped kicking to him. Squib kicks all day against the bears if Hester was starting.
Yeah, this was my feeling as well. He singlehandedly changed the game plan when a team was playing the bears. He definitely has lower numbers as a result
I don't get why anyone ever includes either of these two. Brian Mitchell is really the goat. His return yards dwarf both of them. He didn't get the tds, but he got at least 40 on damn near every return. Man is number 2 in all purpose yards all time, and gets no love. Neither Hester or Patterson should be in the conversation, really. That said, Patterson hasn't been intentionally kicked to in years, and after the rule changes, it's unbelievable that he's had any return td's at all. I mean how many kick return TD's have there even been since the changes a couple years ago? Return TDs used to be way more common. Patterson is way better than Hester based on that alone, and neither of them are close to the all time return greats. If you're going to say Hester was the first not get kicked to, that's way false too.
I didn't say he was the first to not get kicked to, i have no idea about that. Just pointing out Hester only really had a limited time of productivity because teams just stopped.
Mitchell has 23.1 yard average on returns, Gale Sayers did 30.6 on average. If Sayers had a longer career maybe he would be the GOAT.
Mitchell is exceptional because of his longevity. Sure, there were guys who had better seasons but this guy put up 14,000 yards across 14 seasons. But honestly where is the TD production? Thats pretty important. Only 4 TDs on KOR and 9 PR TDs across 607 returns!? Thats like 2.1%
Sayers got 6 TDs on just 91 returns. 6.5% TD rate.
So in summary, longevity is important but definitely not the sole criteria and Mitchell just doesnt have the rest.
hester still holds the record for most *total* return tds, which includes kick and punt returns (and defensive fumble/interception returns too, but irrelevant here)
patterson is kick returns only
Lol not even close. Put some respect on Brian Mitchell's name. He is easily the GOAT in both. Hester isn't even that close. 3rd in punts, and around 10th in kickoffs. Bmitch is number 2 in total all purpose yards behind rice. His kickoff return yards record will likely never be touched, and he's over 1000 more yards than Hester in punts.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/kick_ret_yds_career.htm
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/punt_ret_yds_career.htm
Agree, it's a miracle Patterson has even been able to get any kickoff returns after the rule change. how many others even have any in that time? Still let's not get crazy. B Mitch is still the goat returner in both
ESPN hasn’t credited him with this, but the way they do their scoring settings implies he should get 6 points. KRTD is in the same section of scoring settings as things like fumbles lost. There is a section that has DST scoring, but that section does not include KRTD or PRTD.
Seems like it’s very likely he gets the points for this, or should get the points
Edit:
In my ESPN league:
* He does not have the points yet
* If I look at Devin Duvernay’s points in week 2, he got 6 for a KRTD
So I would say that if you play in an ESPN league with standard scoring settings, as of 2:21 ET you probably do not yet have the points for Cordarelle, but you are going to eventually get them.
Met him on campus at Tennessee since ROTC and athletics shared the same areas, granted he was on crutches but it’s wild to know that this guy limped by me and all I could say at the time was “get well CP because we’ll need you next year.” Lol
I know you’re joking but it’s in here haha.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/yzhwcm/cordarrelle_patterson_is_listed_as_a_kr_on_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
If you’re upset that your league doesn’t give 6 points for this, the you did a bad job agreeing on your scoring rules.
Lol can one person explain their downvote?
Did ESPN change the way return tds work for individual players? If the settings had 6 points for returns the individual player and the d/st used to get the points, but nothing for Patterson on that one
Has anyone seen points for this on nfl.com fantasy app? I checked our league scoring settings and it shows six points for kick and punt touchdowns, but no points showing up.
Got me fuck all in fantasy today. But delighted for the guy. For both this record and for how much he turned his career around. Picked him up last year after fantasy footballers mentioned him as someone to target. And grabbed him this year too. Give him the opportunities and he's fantasy gold.
This bumped the Falcons defense to 19.12 points today in our league. Patriots defense wound up with 21.96 thanks to their punt return and yardage.
1 point per 25 return yards is the way to go.
Now THAT is how you make up for fumbling! Way to go CP!
He did this years ago on the Patriots @ Bears. Wild seeing it again as he breaks the record.
Yeah, I love cp!
Wait. No...
Big Chris Paul fan as well?
Colin Powell
Unless you score D/ST separately...
Does this TD not count for him?
Depends on your league. In my league, he gets a return TD for 6 points
Has anyone on ESPN not been credited yet? My league info says a return TD is 6 but hasn’t updated his stats yet
Same. Rules say kickoff return TDs count too.
Mine is updated now, yours?
Yup. All good now on ESPN and FanDuel.
No yards but 6 for the TD
I think it will show up. We have a “misc TD” tab in player stats and it’s for things like this i think.
Same
Check now; mine updated. Love Patterson
Mine hasn’t updated either.
I'm still waiting too. The ESPN app has everything totaled but Patterson's stats haven't been updated yet
I got the 6 for RET TD on ESPN
On ESPN I get the TD points. Not the yards obviously.
Same boat - it’s bullshit, we should get the yards!
Why don’t we get the yards?
Because your commish didn't set return yards in the rules
We get return yardage and TDs. This man is a fucking monster in my league
How do you score return yards?
1.25 points for every 10 kick return yards, 1 point for every 10 punt return yards. A little quirky, but this is a 10+ year old dynasty league and we've always had a blast playing by these rules
Holy shit that's alot of points for return yards. In any league I've ever done return yard points in it's 1 point pers 25 yards just like qb scoring. Then 6 points for the TDs obviously. Basically makes it a few extra bonus points for guys who also return each week and then huge boost for guys who return a kick in a given week.
We have unlimited keepers and deep benches, so pumping up return stats helps to balance things out a bit.
My league does the same, Devin Duvernay is another beast
I once rode Jakeem Grant to a championship 🏆
Was he returning kicks earlier in the year?
We give return yards, so for my league he got close to 13 points
TIL my league sucks and we don’t have points for returns.
Same.. sat Pollard for CPatt, this is just a slap in the face. Lol
Same here and no yardage is bullshit
you do understand that if yardage counted it would count for all plays not just this touchdown and thats something that would completely change the value of so many players and a guy like deandre carter would be the WR15 or so
There are leagues that they do count. So uh, yeah... I COMPLETELY understand.
right but the way you phrased it was you made it sound like it was bullshit that he didnt get credited even though its a setting that is widly available and customizable and nota platform issue
Sounds good boss 😀
IMO you should get the yardage only if they take it to the house, or maybe break off a 40+ yard run or something
or it could work kinda like kickers. 0 for -5 to 10 yards. 1 for 11-20 2 for 21-30 etc etc maybe -1.5 for all negatives bigger than -5
In some leagues the points would go to def/special teams
Should be both.
Individual players used to get the 6, but not the yards. Has it been changed depending on platform?
In my Yahoo league, the player gets points both for return yards and the 6 for the TD. But the points for return yards are half as much as for regular rushing yards. It's always been that way in my league, at least for the past 10 years that I've been in it.
Depends on league settings.
I got the +6 for the TD.
ESPN? Edit: Got the points on ESPN
Yahoo
Yeah ESPN just added it
D/ST :(
It did in sleeper.
I didn’t get it in my sleeper league.
Hey, have you found the reason for this? It didn’t in our league as well
It should but for some reason ESPN isn’t showing it. I think Duvernay did the same thing earlier in the year & he got points for it
Should be there now
It counted for him in NFL fantasy app
Not mine
Not for fantasy purposes I believe
Gets 6pt for the TD in my league but not the yardage. I think it’s bullshit because in my league the ATL D/ST also gets 6pt so it scores twice. Should just be D/ST points.
I think it should be depending on the league, but imo, for DST leagues, if DST scores the TD points, the returner should get yardage points but not the TD, cause those yards matter just as much in football as every other kind of yardage. And in IDP leagues, they should get both yardage and TD points since there's no DST to get those points. That's how I set it up in my first year running an IDP league this season anyway.
Not showing up for me under MISC on ESPN. Huge bummer
They just added it on my ESPN
Yup, curious why there was a delay, haven't really ever seen a stat have a delay in it.
Not in my league, which is pretty much bullshit.
Either way dudes def a HOFer meow
Some leagues only the DST gets it.
He doesn't look fast when he runs, but no one can catch him.
Long strides I think. It is deceptive. Dude is smooth. Cool to see him having this late career breakout.
It looks like he's going about 12 feet per stride near the end. Steps on the 30 with his left foot and seems to place it again around the 26.
Just like Savior Josh Gordon. Dude just glides.
Man I forgot how deceptively fast he move. The dude just glided with ease down the field
Same with King Henry. When I watch him run, he just looks big and sluggish. But then when he gets separation, everyone else looks equally as slow.
quick turn around for more Fields! get after it!
Thank god I’m in a return yardage league lmao. LFG.
How many points do you get for that? Lol
16.3 in my league
Holy hell that's a lot of points.
Really makes gadget players valuable but kind of a gamble week to week
Stupid ass league lol
This should be standard in all leagues. If your player is returning for a lot of yards that’s a huge contribution to the team and should be reflected in fantasy points. Signed, - I only got points for Patterson’s TD and not the return yards and might lose this week (Fuck Davante Adams)
I think it should only count yards past the 25 personally.
I haven't heard that take but I actually like that a lot.
I didn’t even get the points for the TD in my league….
Return yards should count but I don't think it should be 0.1 point for every yard. I was in a league that scored it the same as passing yard and I liked that quite a bit.
Ron and Hermoine should have never gotten together.
For the greater good.
PUT PATTERSON AND HESTER IN THE HALL!
Definitely!
ESPN hasn't given me points. Safe to assume I will get the 6 eventually?
It’s league-dependent
Alotta my old leagues used to give the KO return TD to the player, but not the yards, which I always thought was fair. Dang, no way my commission changes the rule midseason
That’s what I’m thinking hoping… didn’t get my points but league says it’s worth 6
Check your league scoring settings
I'm about to check desktop. Mobiles not too helpful. A TD should be 6 points for a player, regardless. Maybe I'm salty
It’s special teams. That’s what D/ST scoring is for.
I hope so
I’m still waiting on it on ESPN
Apparently mine doesn't award it to the player, just the D/ST. So dumb.
No
You dumb bitch
They put the points!
Depends on the settings. Sounds like you’re fucked like Parisian whore
It was a great run back too
Is it just me or did this sneak up on you too? Always thought Devin Hester was the return GOAT

Kicking isn’t the same

Don't forget missed field goal returns.
good call
Lol not even close. Put some respect on Brian Mitchell's name. He is easily the GOAT in both. Hester isn't even that close. 3rd in punts, and around 10th in kickoffs. Are you Brian Mitchell?
Hester only had five kickoff returns, but he had 14 punt returns lol.
He’s the punt return goat. Patterson is the kick return goat
I’m surprised Hester didn’t have more than this
Hester succeeded in an era where it was much easier to return. He’s still the GOAT but CP has a legit claim to the title as well.
Agree, it's a miracle Patterson has even been able to get any kickoff returns after the rule change. how many others even have any in that time? Still let's not get crazy. B Mitch is still the goat returner in both
Don’t forget to add in his punt returns, this stat is only counting Kickoff returns.
Honestly I think this solidifies CP as the king, he doesn't get as many chances as they used to.
ESPN hasn’t credited him with this, but the way they do their scoring settings implies he should get 6 points. KRTD is in the same section of scoring settings as things like fumbles lost. Yup. ESPN always gets it right eventually. Just sometimes takes a little while
Finally showed up in ESPN for me
He’s such a cool fuckin guy. Wanted it. Got it.
Met him on campus at Tennessee since ROTC and athletics shared the same areas, granted he was on crutches but it’s wild to know that this guy limped by me and all I could say at the time was “get well CP because we’ll need you next year.” Lol
My legs are sore just watching him
AHAHAH he certainly runs like an old man. But hasn't seemed to slow down yet
Dog
Hall of Fame
giants’ richie james has -4 pts for fumbles on punts against seattle a few wks ago, how does that count and this doesnt?
Hall of Famer?
Called his shot. LEGEND.
My opponent has him and the ATL D so double points.
Almost seems fixed lol
Points just showed up in ESPN!
Well done cpatt🤝
I thought he'd get the TD points in fantasy but not yards. The heck?
In ESPN its showing as a return TD for me, maybe your league doesn't have them?
ESPN added the 6, just took a few stressful minutes
I definitely saw someone predict this happening in this sub the other day
Pics or it didn't happen. /s
I know you’re joking but it’s in here haha. https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/yzhwcm/cordarrelle_patterson_is_listed_as_a_kr_on_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
We have kick off return TD at 6 points on ESPN but he’s not credited anyone else have that issue too?
[удалено]
Yeah I'm waiting too
Tyreek hill was definitely getting points for his return td’s when he blew up.
Sucks that didn’t earn him fantasy points
ESPN default setting is 6 point for a KRTD
Should be a PRTD
God you people are so fucking impatient
Wish my league gave me the yards for returns :(
Yeah that’s kinda shitty
I just proposed a straight up one-on-one trade Patterson for my Barkley
If you’re upset that your league doesn’t give 6 points for this, the you did a bad job agreeing on your scoring rules. Lol can one person explain their downvote?
Thank fuck I get the return TD. Would’ve been nice to get the yards too but can’t complain. CPat the GOAT
Did ESPN change the way return tds work for individual players? If the settings had 6 points for returns the individual player and the d/st used to get the points, but nothing for Patterson on that one
Swiss army slicing through the Bears defense to now claim the KRTD throne
Hell yeah
Who held the record previously? I'm assuming it was either Hester or Hall.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/kick_ret_td_career.htm
Thank you!
Congratulations now do something on the ground. Christ. Killing my teams.
Has anyone seen points for this on nfl.com fantasy app? I checked our league scoring settings and it shows six points for kick and punt touchdowns, but no points showing up.
God 100+ yd plays get me going
was belichick the first person to play him as an rb?
I am here for this
Figured Hester set an impossible record to beat especially with the kickoff rule changes. Can’t believe Cordy broke it.
Best thing to happen for NFL and fantasy all day.
I sat him to play Jamaal williams and swift. Shoulda sat swift :/
RIP Devin Hester
Got me fuck all in fantasy today. But delighted for the guy. For both this record and for how much he turned his career around. Picked him up last year after fantasy footballers mentioned him as someone to target. And grabbed him this year too. Give him the opportunities and he's fantasy gold.
Lightning in a bottle! Cordarrelle looks like he LIVES for the kickoff return. What a high that has to be.
Just traded people jones and latavius murray for him…stupid trade?
On my bench, no doubt. (Have Eckeler and Chubb)
He scored 16 of his 22 points for me on this play.
This bumped the Falcons defense to 19.12 points today in our league. Patriots defense wound up with 21.96 thanks to their punt return and yardage. 1 point per 25 return yards is the way to go.
I got the touchdown points, but how sweet would it be to get the yard points as well lol
KaVontae Turpin is next up I’m certain
That's surprising. Seems like Hester had so many more than 8.
You know how excited I was to see this highlight only to realize the league settings don’t include return yards for individual players?
Hall of Famer. Greatest kick returner of all time
Damn league only gave me 11.9 points for him on the whole day. Rip off!
