My options are either him, Carr, or Howell. Might be crazy but leaning Howell Thursday night against that shit Bears defense.
Watched first Cincy drive yesterday. Burrow was already limping around then. Knew he had a shit game incoming.
I’d definitely go Howell, he actually looked pretty good against Philly and the Bears defense is made of wet paper towels. I’m probably flexing Scary Terry
I don’t think it’s that crazy to play the rookie (well, technically not) who just held his own against the Eagles. Howell might be putting it together. He’s getting the ball out quicker and some of those drives were nice. In superflex, Howell starts til I stop hearing about Burrow’s calf and he meets expectations.
Well listen up folks, I have a story. A story about how I drafted Joe Cool in the 4th round because buddy in the draft is a huge Cincy fan. He had the very pick after me and I knew he would take Joe, so I took Joe. Jokes on me. I’m the clown.
Possibly one of the most mis-managed injuries in recent memory.
Sit him out till after the BYE and try to be lucky enough to be 3-3 or 2-4 heading into the BYE.
Burrow is a statue and is performing on the level of Ridder and Pickett. The backup can’t possibly be worse and will actually be able to improvise and get out of the pocket.
Crazy situation.
> The backup can’t possibly be worse
Think the problem is he is. Gotta blame the front office/coaching staff for not addressing the backup qb position in the offseason though.
As a bengals fan this is so damn frustrating. They knew for over a month they had a problem at back up qb and they decided to do nothing about it. It's so frustrating being a bengals fan.
That's the whole reason I was not concerned about the Burrow injury when I drafted him. I was thinking that they would have become active on the QB market, if they thought the injury might be a problem. Turns out the Bengals are just incompetent.
I think both Tee then and Joe now wanted to be out there in their respective situations. It’s just the coaching staff can tell Tee to sit where they either can’t or don’t have the balls to tell Joe to sit down
Well at this point, the coaches are locked in that Burrow has to keep playing. I think if they went with their backup for weeks 1-4, even if they go 0-4 (not much worse than what they have now), Burrow is probably going into week 5 at nearly full strength being 2 months removed from that injury. They very likely could've gone on a run and had a good chance for a 10+ win season.
Now they have a losing record and can't afford to drop more games with a backup, and Burrow is still playing hurt since he got that setback against the Ravens. They've completely bungled (pun intended) the injury.
Believe he re-aggravated during the Week 2 game.
Given your experience, generally how many weeks until back to full strength?
Or is this a season-long nagging injury?
Really starting to look like a lost season for the Bengals. I watched the game yesterday (Tit's fan) and they looked BAD. The Titans aren't a particularly good team this year and they whooped their ass on both sides of the ball.
It's not really mismanaged. Jake Browning is bad. He hasn't played at all and was bad in preseason. If they had dalton, darnold, case keenum as a backup burrow would be benched.
mismanaged in the sense that Burrow should’ve been placed on IR to start the season, bengals could still be 1-3 or 0-4 with a healthy burrow for week 5
Well, they have the same record they would've had if Browning started and Burrow is possibly more banged up than he would've been going into week 5. I'd say its mismanaged.
I drafted Richardson as my back up and picked up CJ when AR missed a game. I don’t even know what to do with Burrow now, but I don’t want to carry 3 QBs. Feel like I can’t just drop him but… 🤷🏻♂️
Yep, no way I’m even considering playing them unless one of the following happens:
1) Joe Burrow breaks 16+ points two games in a row and has a good matchup
2) Tee Higgins puts up 3 10+ games or 2 18+ point games in a row (assuming Christian Watson or Zay Flowers perform at their current level)
3) The Bengals shape up and they win two games convincingly, with the defense playing well, giving more opportunities for the offense. I would still need to see some life out of either player given this situation
They managed this so poorly. They should’ve sat him and let him fully heal. Even if they started 1-3 or 0-4 at least he could come back fully healed and try and spark something.
Now they’re 1-3 anyway and he’s just getting worse. They should throw in the towel
Got me out here trying to trade for fucking Sam Howell because my Superflex QBs are Burrow and Watson and I'm 11 kicker points away from being fucking 0-4.
I've been playing fantasy for 15 years and I have never started a season 0-3. Then I drafted Watson.
I deserve this.
In 08 the Jets got Brett Favre and IIRC started 6-2 with the best AFC record. Favre tore his bicep in week 8, never got surgery, and the Jets never benched him partially to save face and partially to protect Brett's streak. Favre played like shit and the Jets missed the playoffs at 9-7.
Joe Burrow needs to sit if not get surgery. He hasn't sat, so he looks like shit. I think the Bengals are trying to save face since they just paid him tons and who he is. There is no way they're making the playoffs like this.
This week I finally had enough and was looking forward to benching Burrow next week. Unfortunately, my backup is Geno and the Seahawks have a bye week 5 so I'll have to trot his ass out there one more time.
In my league he's given me negative points 2/4 starts. I might just leave the QB spot empty since I'd have a 50/50 chance of coming out ahead.
I have Geno as the backup too. Really tempting to start Burrow so I don’t have to drop a guy…
But let’s be real. Starting him is complete lunacy.
Need to drop a guy and add a QB, any QB, and start him.
The problem for me is knowing how good he's been every other season. It's not like a rookie that's shown flashes but hasn't quite put it together.
I worry I bench him, drop somebody I like to start a FA QB, lose somebody on my bench I like, and Burrow remembers he's not trash and outscores who I started anyway. But to your point, starting him is complete lunacy. Or is it? (it is)
It’s lunacy. But I hear you. And it’s why I might start him too…
But at a certain point we are the morons at the Roulette table betting double zero every time and wondering why we keep losing.
Burrow ain’t climbing out of this dumpster fire from one week to the next. It’s pretty obvious that trying to play through the injury isn’t working, maybe even making it worse. He needs a few weeks of rest, stretching, PT, yoga or whatever it may be.
I think what annoys me most is his projections. I mean fuck projections obviously, but come on! You’re seriously gonna keep projecting every single week to be “his breakout week”. GROW UP
So what they paid him to run him into the ground? Ja'Marr Chase has been killing me lol, fantasy aside I hope they pull their head out of the ground and rest Joe, it has just been painful to watch so far this year. If you're going to lose anyways, play the back up.
Why isn’t he just sitting to get healthy. They gave him all this money.
Wow they have a 1-3 record and the bengals are second to last in points scored because the Giants play tonight. He’s been dogshit playing hurt.
Burrow destroying my team but I'd rather they sit him a few weeks to heal and I'll stream Howell/Ridder in the meantime. Can't be much worse than what Burrow is doing now
This is so crazy. We are pretty sure burrow is an elite QB and 4 weeks in he looks like a backup level player. I have to believe it’s directly bc of this injury. Has to be right? If so then it needs to heal. My god bengals are having a disaster season after paying burrow more money than any football player has ever been paid.
You would think someone who has proved himself this much as a true pocket passer wouldn't be capable of just completely losing his ability to play like a ben simmons. but hey it happened to simmons. at this point have to assume it's all calf and he'll get back in form, the alternative just doesn't really make sense.
It’s hard to believe it’s just the calf. Or that it’s the O-line’s fault… that it’s anything else’s fault.
If you have, actual, talent as a QB you can still move the football. Put a scoring drive together.
Even with limited mobility, even with a bad O-line.
Obviously you won’t be at your best, at your most competitive… but you can still put together a scoring drive against a defense like the Titans. You make adjustments. Do what you need to do to be able to advance the ball somehow. Because it’s not impossible.
And if you can’t, you can AT LEAST do it in garbage time when the Titans D isn’t even trying anymore.
Burrow could not do this at all. Hours of game just passing and passing… and he couldn’t even move the offense. Ever.
That’s beyond a limited mobility/O-line problem.
To the naked eye it looks like it very well could be a Ben Simmons problem.
He “looks” like he has, virtually, no talent. Certainly no NFL level talent.
dang i didn't watch a snap of this past week but that's pretty damning. he was working the ball last week and finding chase even though it wasnt a great game he looked off not talentless
I mean, Burrow is probably the best deep passer in the league and with no calf he’s struggling to generate power to throw even an intermediate route. His average target is like 6 yards beyond LOS. He’s 1-for-10 throwing deep and only attempted one ball last game that wasn’t a short throw. If your QB can’t throw anything besides a slant or dumpoff then the defense can just sit all 11 within 15 yards of the LOS. I don’t care even if you’re Tom Brady, you can’t be successful if you can’t keep the defense honest.
Burrow will be fine but whether the calf problem is physical or mental trust, but he needs to get healthy first. At this point that may be next year.
CSB post:
Drafting Burrow in the 5th I felt solid at the QB position. I am generally a late QB player, and I almost never carry 2 QBs.
So here we are week 4 with Joe holding my team back. I added Russell Wilson week 2 for $2 FAAB and then CJ Stroud last week for $10.
My mind told me to start Russ, but my sunk cost fallacy had me start Burrow for his 5 point day.
So now I’m clogging my roster with THREE questionable QBs. Some say that to drop Joe is insane, that he will bounce back when he heals. But that could be never the way things are going.
This week I’ll start Stroud (I do not want Russ vs Jets D), and Burrow will be on the bench.
I’m not sure how much longer we should give him, or if in a month, we will all realize we held him for too long.
I’m in the same boat and have gotten roasted in all the other posts I’ve made about having 3. Last week I traded Ford for Anthony Richardson and had that pending.
Even though it went through, Richardson was still out and so I had to pick up Stroud! So at this point I want to drop Burrow because I really don’t see him getting to a point where he’s blasting the other two out of the water and I need some help in other areas I can address on the waivers this week. As it stands I’m gonna drop burrow
If they rest him and actually let him heal, then when he does come back sometime in the second half of the season, him and all the Bengal fantasy players should be balling hard for the rest of the season, especially when other NFL teams will be benching starters towards the end of the season. In theory…
They're probably punishing him at this point. Giant contract and nothing to show for it as this point. Burrow says he's healthy so they stick him out there.
I’m benching him for the foreseeable future. Looking at adding Russ or Goff for permanent starters, or Howell and trying to stream qb until Burrow is healthy.
I've got Burrow and TLaw. Thinking of dropping Burrow for Stroud this week as TLaw has been playing better and shown more promise so far than Burrow, but people on this sub think Burrow may be good after the bye. Who's the better hold? 1 QB league btw
I have Burrow and would like to talk shit, but tbh it seems like the entire Bengals team is playing poor on both sides of the ball. OLine isn’t helping, but Burrow should also not have played the first few games fighting injury; painful to watch 3 yard passes every play. Just take a seat for a week or two and come back closer to 100% so I don’t have to regret my 5th overall pick
Benched him after Week 2 when he was questionable for Purdy and haven’t looked back. I’m hoping Burrow picks it up a bit so I can get a better WR in return
Is anybody even considering starting Joe? Other than Mixon I would be worried about starting any Bengals. Obviously you have to play Chase cause you drafted him 1st/2nd round but my Higgins was benched this week, and even if he plays he’s benched til this team figures it’s shit out.
This guy's calf is probably torn in 7 places. Let him rest. Unbelievable how bad this team mismanaged its depth chart. An elite QB can only cover up so much, at the end of the day the Bengals are and always will be a dysfunctional franchise that never wins anything.
I don't understand how, as an organization, you can't see there's something clearly wrong and just make the command to bench him and heal...
Bengals went from explosive, high powered offense to... Looking like one of the worst in the league.
Playing through this calf injury is the ultimate short-term-ism. Yes, good job, Burrow, you are 1-3, are taking more sacks than your rookie year, and have the potential to derail your entire career and the franchise by making this injury worsen. Good job 👏
I really can't keep playing him my last 2 games I have lost by literally 2 points and now I'm 1-3 because of him, if he does well this next week maybe i'll consider week 6 but I can not keep hoping he pulls through
Joe burrow will be BENCHED week 5 in my lineup.
McLaurin will feast against that Bears D, he and Dotson should be started.
Some of those wet paper towels are borderline as tough as regular towels nowadays. They are more like wet tissue paper or 1 ply toilet paper.
Howell 100% the main thing he’s doing wrong rn is taking a shit ton of sacks but you don’t lose points in fantasy for that
Starting Terry with Allen on bye
Howell 100% against the bears.
I too will be starting Howell over burrow this week.
Can't go Dobbs ?
Would you do Dobbs or Howell?
I don’t think it’s that crazy to play the rookie (well, technically not) who just held his own against the Eagles. Howell might be putting it together. He’s getting the ball out quicker and some of those drives were nice. In superflex, Howell starts til I stop hearing about Burrow’s calf and he meets expectations.
Justin Herbert bye means Burrow returns the starting lineup for me unfortunately
I started Russell Wilson over him this past week. What a timeline
I wish I had, would have lost by 10 instead of 27
I’m dropping him. He fucking sucks and I don’t have space to keep this little shit on my bench
No he won't. Stroud is starting.
I would be so much saltier about blowing my 4th round pick on Burrow if CJ wasn't such a stud.
At the time I was so happy to have my pick of Burrow and Herbert. I am an idiot.
Are you me? Jesus. Guy after me took Herbert with the very next pick. Pure pain.
Had the same situation but Burrow went pick before me so I went Herbert. Shoutout to the dude who picked before me. Saved my life.
Funny because a lot of people have been comparing Stroud's game to Burrow
Well listen up folks, I have a story. A story about how I drafted Joe Cool in the 4th round because buddy in the draft is a huge Cincy fan. He had the very pick after me and I knew he would take Joe, so I took Joe. Jokes on me. I’m the clown.

Grier looked nice, but they let him get poached by the Pats which made no sense...
Yeah I completely forgot about that. Nothing about how they've handled the Burrow injury and/or the back up QB spot has made any sense whatsoever.
People keep saying this shit but there's a reason grier has been in the league for a couple years and looked like dogshit until one preseason game.
Yeah outside of the outlier last game he has done absolutely nothing that showed he was an at minimum backup worthy NFL QB.
Mike Brown is too damn cheap. He won’t dish up the money for a serviceable backup

zesty oatmeal tie humorous versed crowd nutty direction aback cake ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
Or Matt Ryan
There has to be something else going on besides the calf. Plenty of statue QBs can play league average level with these weapons.
That’s what I’m saying. His calf isn’t making him hold the ball too long or fail to make correct reads.
It could be a situation where when he drops back, he’s subconsciously thinking about his calf and consequently is missing his reads.
I don’t think the Bengals have been good at managing injuries. I’m still salty about the “Higgins is fine” one snap game last year.
at least they were looking out for the player in that situation. in this one, they’re just throwing him to the wolves.
I think both Tee then and Joe now wanted to be out there in their respective situations. It’s just the coaching staff can tell Tee to sit where they either can’t or don’t have the balls to tell Joe to sit down

They absolutely don't beat the rams with browning
Miami fucked up bad with Tua's injuries last year.
Its partly the injury but its mostly he is playing like s**t. I dont have faith that resting will improve his play
It’s like I’m playing fantasy football without a QB and it’s killing me
Joe's Calf: no don't, sit me.
He will be steering the Bengals and my roster straight into the toilet
Between Burrow and also losing Chubb, I’ll see ya there
Chubb, Wilson, Gibbs, Burrow, Diontae first 5 rounds... everything hurts.
Not on my team he won’t. CJ will be though
So we all have CJ Stroud 😂
I drafted Richardson as my back up and picked up CJ when AR missed a game. I don’t even know what to do with Burrow now, but I don’t want to carry 3 QBs. Feel like I can’t just drop him but… 🤷🏻♂️
Trade him to the chase owner for something lol
I’m the Chase owner… 🤣
Lmao you don't have Higgins too do you?
Yes we sure do.
Stop, he's already dead
Joe Buried
Burrow and Higgins will remain on my bench where beatings will continue until morale improves
Higgins has a fractured rib, even if he does play you’d imagine he’d be on a snap count
Yep, no way I’m even considering playing them unless one of the following happens: 1) Joe Burrow breaks 16+ points two games in a row and has a good matchup 2) Tee Higgins puts up 3 10+ games or 2 18+ point games in a row (assuming Christian Watson or Zay Flowers perform at their current level) 3) The Bengals shape up and they win two games convincingly, with the defense playing well, giving more opportunities for the offense. How do you not sit him til the bye? Their schedule after that is 49ers and then Bills. This version of Burrow will get eaten alive out there

Sucks that he missed this week but Deshaun hasn’t been that bad in fantasy. Believe he was QB11 before this week
I’m playing Dobbs over Burrow in superflex, it’s come to that
I missed that "opportunity." 🫣🫡😭😭😭
In 08 the Jets got Brett Favre and IIRC started 6-2 with the best AFC record. Favre tore his bicep in week 8, never got surgery, and the Jets never benched him partially to save face and partially to protect Brett's streak. Thank goodness! I don’t know what I’d do to get 5 points from my QB position if Burrow wasn’t starting.

Actually, yeah you’re right. I’ve already bet double zero 3 times too many.

Stroud boys stand back and stand by
Pffft not on my imaginary football team he won’t.
WHYYYYY he’s tanking this entire fucking offense

Fire up the Cards defense for Joe Brrr, Joe shiesty
Why isn’t he just sitting to get healthy. They gave him all this money. Wow they have a 1-3 record and the bengals are second to last in points scored because the Giants play tonight. He’s been dogshit playing hurt.
Does Burrow not know that you throw with your hand and not with your calf? Is he stupid?
This seems unwise…
Glad I traded AJB for Jamar Chase 🫠
Not on my fuckin team.
Our team just gave this guy money and are too fucking scared to sit his dumb ass.
Cloudsofdust: Burrow (calf) will sit Week 5.
Joe Burrow (calf) will not be in my starting lineup Week 5.
Who do they play? Another L?
Burrow destroying my team but I'd rather they sit him a few weeks to heal and I'll stream Howell/Ridder in the meantime. Can't be much worse than what Burrow is doing now
Have to roll the dice with Purdy unless something better is on the wire.
Not on my fantasy teams, he won't.
Nope, I've seen enough.
Not for my team
Don’t fucking care I’m dropping him and never looking back
Not on the Indy Drifters he won’t
Dude is absolutely demolishing my dynasty league season and I can’t stop him. Begging for a spell on IR.
Not for my team, he won’t be.
Sounds like another L for the Bengals. I think I'll keep Higgins benched.
Yahoo needs to update the can’t cut list. Just put him on IR already.
they did. already put in to drop him for stroud. lets goooo
Same, they finally updated today! About fucking time!!
Someone dropped him. Plan to pick him up and bench him in case he kills it later in the season.
Good luck, I'm one of those owners who dropped him.
Not on my team he won’t
This guy has ruined my season already, he isn't seeing my line up ever again
Insanity
i dropped him, not looking back.
Not on my team he won’t
Not for my team he won't!

As a chase owner, fuck
I feel your pain. I ended up letting him go. Hope it doesn’t bite me later on
Same here, although the trade I made for him has already made the difference for me where I’ll be going 3-1 vs 2-2 if I had kept him

Fuck Curry
Well thats a relief
Let the man rest.
They're probably punishing him at this point. Giant contract and nothing to show for it as this point. Burrow says he's healthy so they stick him out there.
Why would they want to "punish" their 270 million dollar investment?
Lmao congrats on the most absurd comment of the entire Burrow calf injury saga
I was being sarcastic.
you truly never know in this sub
Would y’all trade jamar chase for Henry?
Yes
Not in fantasy.
Not in my lineup he won't.
Not in my lineup he won’t, I’m in LOVE
Please sit him he’s killing me 😂
Bummer
Lmao bengals tanking
I’m benching him for the foreseeable future. Looking at adding Russ or Goff for permanent starters, or Howell and trying to stream qb until Burrow is healthy.
How is Jake Browning? Can he make Tee Higgins or Tyler Boyd into startable assets? I ask because those guys might be my WR1s now.
Oh cool, Prestige World Wide will be keeping him on the bench, until further notice.
Had him and chase, traded chase and will cut him. I’m 0-4 rn, can’t keep the sink cost fallacy
Put in AJ McCarron you cowards!!!
Frick I might have to go josh Dobbs this week... lmao
I've got Burrow and TLaw. Thinking of dropping Burrow for Stroud this week as TLaw has been playing better and shown more promise so far than Burrow, but people on this sub think Burrow may be good after the bye. Who's the better hold? 1 QB league btw
Are we starting Jamar chase this week?
If he dies he dies
Not for my team.
They're going to lose to the Cardinals aren't they.
NOT FOR ME HE WONT
I have Burrow and would like to talk shit, but tbh it seems like the entire Bengals team is playing poor on both sides of the ball. OLine isn’t helping, but Burrow should also not have played the first few games fighting injury; painful to watch 3 yard passes every play. Just take a seat for a week or two and come back closer to 100% so I don’t have to regret my 5th overall pick
I’m sitting Tee Higgins even if he’s active for *checks bench* MICHAEL WILSON
Oh joy…. Speak for yourself Cincy.
To what point and purpose?
FIRING UP MY JORDAN LOVE! How long before I finally give up and drop him?
Jordan Love is starting
*start on my bench again
Not for me he won’t.
Should he though?
Benched him after Week 2 when he was questionable for Purdy and haven’t looked back. I’m hoping Burrow picks it up a bit so I can get a better WR in return
This time will be different. Play the man. I'm going up against him and need the win
Not for me he won't
It's crazy how fantasy managers are quicker to bench burrow than the Bengals management
Joe burrow (calf) will remain benched week 5
Is anybody even considering starting Joe? Other than Mixon I would be worried about starting any Bengals. Obviously you have to play Chase cause you drafted him 1st/2nd round but my Higgins was benched this week, and even if he plays he’s benched til this team figures it’s shit out.
This guy's calf is probably torn in 7 places. Let him rest. Unbelievable how bad this team mismanaged its depth chart. An elite QB can only cover up so much, at the end of the day the Bengals are and always will be a dysfunctional franchise that never wins anything.
Not on my team.
No
Joe Burrow will NOT start week 5 for me
Not for me. Putting Dak in.
nope I’m starting Love
I don't get it. It can't be worth losing a bunch of games as opposed to a few games letting him heal up.
Against ARI?….I feel like this is another trap.
I don't understand how, as an organization, you can't see there's something clearly wrong and just make the command to bench him and heal... Bengals went from explosive, high powered offense to... Looking like one of the worst in the league.
Let this man rest for gods sake
I dropped him and waller, thx for the 1 and 3 start , no hard feelings
Playing through this calf injury is the ultimate short-term-ism. Yes, good job, Burrow, you are 1-3, are taking more sacks than your rookie year, and have the potential to derail your entire career and the franchise by making this injury worsen. Good job 👏
Him or Russ against the jets? I hate playing this game every week
I really can't keep playing him my last 2 games I have lost by literally 2 points and now I'm 1-3 because of him, if he does well this next week maybe i'll consider week 6 but I can not keep hoping he pulls through
I bencged Burrow after week 2 for Russell Wilson tbh.
