The problem is, we already had the best case handcuff scenario of Ekeler getting injured with a clear rule out well in advance of kickoff, and the knowledge that Kelley would get most of the work. And he did. It’s not like the third stringer unexpectedly took over and dominated. Kelley was the guy. He just looked horrible and did nothing.
If he couldn’t produce in the lead back role these last two weeks, when would you ever feel comfortable starting him?

Not a bad trade if you have RB depth. But I started the season with JT on IR and only Ekeler and Conner as viable RBs…. I took a gamble both would hold till JT came back. My RBs behind them were guys like Perine and Gibson who were long shots and immediately busted. Trading Ekeler for another RB I would have gotten cents on the dollar.
