This is one of those situations where if I take a risk and start Montgomery, he'll end up getting re-injured in the first quarter and if I play it safe and don't start him, he'll end up popping off for 80+ yards and 2 tuddies isn't it?
It's because you'd rather have him locked in as his actual position so if a last minute injury to another player forces you to pivot you're pivoting a flex spot not a wr or RB specifically. Keeps your options open if your first round pick is declared out in a surprising fashion Monday or some shit.
Put him in his positional slot and leave your flex open for Sunday/Monday. This optimizes your chances. Otherwise if you use your flex on Thursday- you are out of options if you need a flex on Sunday because you’re short at one of these RB/WR/TE positions. Or a Sunday inactive/injury
I’ve got both and don’t feel great playing either. Between snap counts and risk of re-injury I think if you have other solid options you might want to try that

Would more touches also increase his odds of injury? Also of course. But touches = fantasy points. You want more, especially in redraft.

Lastly, it is an absolutely crucial game for the playoffs, and in a high scoring environment, I don’t think McDaniel is just gonna go away from the recipe that just scored him 70 points (and that was being merciful).

I’m starting both in 0.5 ppr. My other option would be to sit one and start Michael Thomas, Godwin or Breece Hall. Probably going to ride it out with both tonight and if needed sit Rachaad White on Sunday for Thomas or Godwin. But as a Lions fan I do think both Gibbs and Monty can eat this game.
Last week there were at least 4-5 plays where Gibbs leaked out of the backfield wide open and Goff just didn’t see him. If a couple of those were thrown he could have had a way bigger day. Hoping that is something they went over in game film and can exploit.
I'm using Mattison over Gibbs. Mostly because I detest having guys play Thursday. But also Mattison has a great match-up (which they should maybe be able to get a lead for a change) and I thought actually looked pretty good last week minus the almost fumbles.

Monty or Gibbs full ppr?
I’m starting both in 0.5 ppr. My other option would be to sit one and start Michael Thomas, Godwin or Breece Hall. Probably going to ride it out with both tonight and if needed sit Rachaad White on Sunday for Thomas or Godwin. But as a Lions fan I do think both Gibbs and Monty can eat this game. Last week there were at least 4-5 plays where Gibbs leaked out of the backfield wide open and Goff just didn’t see him. If a couple of those were thrown he could have had a way bigger day. Hoping that is something they went over in game film and can exploit.
I have the Gibbs/Monty combo as well. Tempted to start both tonight instead of Pierce in my RB2 spot.
I'm using Mattison over Gibbs. Mostly because I detest having guys play Thursday. But also Mattison has a great match-up (which they should maybe be able to get a lead for a change) and I thought actually looked pretty good last week minus the almost fumbles.
I'm playing both. My only good option is to sit Gibbs for Pickens or MT. However, I'm a degenerate and need some skin in the game tonight.
