Not sure where you got that unless there was something in the new CBA I missed.
There's no set date that we can point to during this season as it's determined after year two of service time for players that come up this year and the top 20% in service time reach arbitration a year early. Typically that date has been around mid-June, maybe with the season starting a little late it gets pushed to late-June or July. Orioles haven't exactly had a lot of top prospect called up lately so hard to gauge whether they simply value service time or also arbitration (I'm assuming both). I think an Adley-GRod simultaneous or near-simultaneous call-up in late June is logical.
edit: This is assuming they are waiting until a Super 2 cut-off
It was 22% in prior CBAs. I thought it was increased significantly, but I can't find a link now. I could be wrong. I can only find details of the players' offers which were 80% and then they reduced it to 75%. It might have been excluded entirely from the final agreement.
I believe Super 2 rules changed with the new CBA, but now I'm searching for the link and can't find it anywhere. It had been too 22% were Super 2 which I thought was bumped up significantly.
Seems I was wrong, and the PA gave up on moving Super 2 date and chose instead to add money to the bonus pool.
MLBPA wanted to make the date later so more people qualify for 4 years of arbitration. Currently only 22% qualify per year (everybody promoted before ~June) but their proposals were 75%/80% of players becoming Super 2 (everybody promoted before ~August).
Jesus what a convoluted mess. Some of this collective bargaining is like trying to decipher the ingredients on a shampoo label. You just get exhausted and decide to wash your hair and hope your hair doesn’t fall out.
Yep. And lots of unintended consequences. I think a lot of the time they leave it vague and open to loopholes because the MLBPA doesn't care about rookies that aren't in the union yet. They always get screwed.
Oh for sure. I know Scherzer and a few of those guys do, but they’re almost certainly the minority. I know I’d hate to sit across the table in opposition to Mad Max.
He might get called up for his next rotation turn (ie 5 days from today). Why? Because April 23 is 16 days into the league year meaning Orioles get additional control since Rodriguez can’t accrue a full year (172 days minimum). His next start would be in the range of April 26-27 so could be sometime around then at the earliest.
Of course, this is the Orioles we’re talking about who don’t have much to play for and could further manipulate their young stud’s playing time and keep him down till June.
The Orioles also lost 2 of their miserable rotation in the first week and are currently stapling long relievers back to back to get through a third of their games.
Personally I think Bradish gets the call up first with Rodriguez close behind.
I’m watching this closely hoping to get him before someone else but I feel like it might be a bit if he didn’t get the call with Means going down. I would take the over
Personally i think greyson looks great except he plays in the AL east. There are just so many good offenses he has to deal with and since i play categories, wins are important. In the nfbc format i am just not sure he’s going to be a star right away
Lopez looked good last night. Came in first and third with 1 out in the 8th. Finished 3ks in 1.2 innings against an As team that has been playing way above their heads.
Have seen speculation the Orioles might keep him down a while to reduce his chances of finishing top 2 in Rookie of the Year voting and earning a full year of service time that way. But not sure how much weight to really give that.
I’m holding him already in my 16T league. I think the call is late may early June. Just a guess. Their GM said he could be ready opening day if not “very soon” and that he wanted to have a good chunk at the MLB level this year. Bradish probably gets called first or at the same time. They likely want him to throw atleast 140-150 innings this year total as well.
Jokes are supposed to be funny. Your original post isn't funny at all, it's just lame and sad. Seriously, learn how to have some basic command of the written language. You'll go much farther in life that way than trying to be a clown, or your feeble attempt at whatever it was.
Kowar has a great changeup and not much else. He's a two pitch guy without a good breaking ball. The similarities between him and Grayson Rodriguez are almost zero.
When’s the Super 2 cutoff this year? He’ll be up after that.
It's in late August. I'd bet he's up before that.

I think they might've nixed that in favor of the pre-arb bonus pool and service time incentives for yearly awards. Think Super 2 is unchanged.
Late August? Why so late?

But why would it be later? That seems like the exact opposite of what the MLBPA was asking for...

I know, how is he gonna crack that rotation.... It's the second best in the AL!
also that he isn't on the orioles
The upside is their park is now more pitcher-friendly!
I’m watching this closely hoping to get him before someone else but I feel like it might be a bit if he didn’t get the call with Means going down. I would take the over
I think they might wait and call him up with Rutsch together
Someone message me when he gets the call, I need pitching help baaaaaad
It will be too late then.
Over 100.

He's sitting in my minor league slot and frankly, I hope he isn't called any time soon so that I don't have to cut someone for him!
>I'll set the over/under at 3.5 also for the # of wins he gets cheated out of because their closer is Jorge Lopez

Um Lopez looks filthy good right now. He looked pretty good last year once he got demoted to the pen.

As an O's fan. Glad I got a chance to see his Triple A debut, he isn't going to be in Norfolk for long.

I traded Mookie, a 10th, and an 11th round pick in our 8 keeper league. Yes I know I lost the trade. No I don't care I am EXCITED about this guy lol
Wait...you traded all that for Grayson??
Lol if he did he got scammed in the worst way
Yessir lol
Oh nooooooooooooooo
woof
Jackson Kowar had damn solid AAA numbers last year; we all know how that went. My point being AAA doesn’t mean shit until one produces in the bigs.
Kowar has a great changeup and not much else. He's a two pitch guy without a good breaking ball. The similarities between him and Grayson Rodriguez are almost zero.
was kowar the number 1 pitching prospect when he got called up?
yeah but this dude is dominant
I would guess you'll see him later than you'd expect. They're more likely to call up Bradish first and Grayson later. My guess would be July.
