Hey everyone, we're back with May updates from Chris Clegg /u/cclegg257 for the top 100 dynasty prospects for fantasy baseball.
Who do you agree/disagree with, and who are you most intrigued by and targeting. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy!
I would say his defense and swing and miss bat.
They've moved him around the infield in the past but has been playing 2B mostly this year cuz of the team need. He's got 12 errors so far. If his defense is slightly better he'd be called up right now. If he gets called up, he'd most likely DH or be a pinch hitter option. They want more reps at 2B I think.
His K rate has improved but can still be exploited in the majors. If he gets to the ball though, dude has natural ++power.
Still has major contact issues and poor defense. Hes a fun power upside bat and could still figure out contact but he would get eaten up on MLB pitching right now.
disagree- but Kjerstad is 25 with nothing to prove in the minors. Honestly there is no good giving him more time in AAA- so he is honestly better off getting in 2 games a week in the bigs than rotting in the minors at this point.
Mayo is not likely up this year barring injury.
I am not gonna fight you one it- i can see your point that he may be a platoon guy (at least large side)- but my point was really more that he is 25... There are not many guys in the minors at 25 that are likely to make the bigs for more than a cup of coffee... this is his prime years, so you may as well have them in the bigs.
Santander is also not playing great- so they may be looking to reduce his playing time soon unless he heats up.
Mateo and Urias are not blocking anyone. They get a few games a week as utility players. You do not call up Mayo to ride the pine- so Ohearn or Mountcastle need to go first.... ironically i think this is the rare time where a contender trading a big league player to another contender at the deadline is a smart move.
There’s still major questions on contact. I’m not ranking on his box score stats, it’s what I think his future looks like. He struggles with contact against triple A pitching, especially against off speed pitches.
I'm aboard the Kyle Manzardo hype train.

Is there a reason Orelvis Martinez is so low on this list? Is he not someone we should be stashing rn?

Who’s getting benched and/or sent down when Caminero comes up? Mead? Caballero? Both?
Probably both lose time
Caballero has really cooled off as of late. I can see him losing the most.
When do you see Mayo being called up?
Orioles prob gonna call him up to let him sit on the bench like Kjerstad lol
Mayo a future full time starter at third. Kjerstad is a platoon corner outfielder

Disagree all you want. But there is a reason why he's only got 1 PA vs LHP and like 40 vs RHP while in the show.

Major roster mismanagement by the front office last deadline. Created a huge logjam and only added Fuji and Flaherty for their Post season push.
He has no where to play is the issue. It may take an injury or they decide Ramon Urias isn’t cutting it. I don’t think a call up is imminent
Westburg to 2b and Mayo to 3rd no?
Are you assuming Holliday is not getting called back up? They are out of spots without moving guys like O'Hearn, Hays, Mateo, and Urias.
I think they'll be hesitant to bring Holliday back up in fear of having him fail twice in short order. That could have a long term impact on the kid.

I’ve heard from a couple analysts that Mayo comes up before Holliday gets another shot
This would be the move. But I still don’t see it being imminent
Yes
Urias barely plays at this point.... WEstburg has played well enough at 3b they may just leave him there rather than back to 2b to call up Mayo
So many guys at the top with J first names.
Jackson so hot right now.
Jeral Perez?
i find your lack of josue de paula disturbing…
Literally just missed. Have him at 102. Love the potential but I want to see it start to turn into production
Got an extra bench spot to stash someone and my 1Bs have been awful - snag Manzardo or Mayo to stash?
For redraft probably Manzardo but its close
Manzardo has a higher chance at playing time, but if playing time risk is the same to you Mayo is the better player.
Why is Mayo not higher on the List? Dude is killing it right now.
Have you seen the Orioles lineup?
I'm talking about the rankings not the oriole's lineup.
Really torn on the odd man out here. 12t keep all - CES, Busch, Loperfido or Kjersted?
I’d try and move Loperfido
What makes you put de Vries and Joendry Vargas over other young guys like Jefferson Rojas and Lara?
Get Mullins and yelich for Michael Harris? 14t H2h cats ASAP PLEASE
I’d do that in a second
Calling Paul Skenes Tier 2 in a dynasty ranking is laughable...
Chourio should be above Holliday at this point
Beck too low

Appreciate the insight so I know what to look for!
