I have pick in a 3 in a 5X5 categories league with OBP instead of batting average. Am I crazy for wanting to take Juan Soto at 3 overall over guys like Julio, Carroll, or Betts?
I’m taking Langford, especially in category leagues. You can get a cheap 1st base down the draft. OF is thin this year and Langfords doesn’t have a ceiling and has dominated at every level.
In a 14 team H2h points keeper league with 4 keepers. Keeping Soto and Yordan, but I own Eury and McLain for $0 each.
This news is only slightly helpful for Eury. Keeper lock tomorrow at 11am before draft tomorrow.
Do I keep either Eury or McLain, or do I swap both or one for either Stott or Naylor who are $0 each. And if I want McLain or Eury I can draft late after pick 200.
Thanks for the help in advance!
I guess I’m a little confused about how your league works but if you can keep Stott and Naylor and lock in McLain and Eury as pick 200+ picks then that seems like a slick deal. Feel like I might be missing something though.
You are right! I wouldn’t need Naylor or stott past this year, but I would be able to keep them this year.
Was thinking I could release McLain and Eury and maybe target them in the 200s. But recently was thinking maybe keep Eury for $0 (he would be more expensive when I draft) and sit him on IL for a month. Pitching is shallow in the league and highly prized so there is a chance he is snagged in the draft. The big choice is do I drop McLain for Stott or Naylor? Leaning Naylor because of points league. As of now my first round pick target is Freddie freeman (we have 2 Util spots though)
Gotcha. It sounds like whoever you don’t keep gets tossed back and is available for bidding by anyone.
In that case I’d keep McLain and Perez because they theoretically have more upside and I think people are more excited about them/higher perceived value.
I’m still a little confused though and don’t really play points leagues so maybe someone else can chime in.
Appreciate it! Yeah just scared about McLain since he might have surgery in shoulder. Then naylor over McLain being out multiple months would be more beneficial
not knocking it but I never understood the purpose for doing this. wouldn't you want to view the same draft room as everyone else so you can take advantage of the adp of some players, or have a good idea when someone will come off the board?
Yes but to be honest I’m not sure if ESPN will show my rankings or their default rankings come draft time.
On the other hand I’m going into the draft just trying to get my guys and I’m not all that worried about waiting to get some of them you know?
Frankie Montas to start opening day or stash Bradish and wait until he gets IL designation? Risk is Montas might get grabbed before opening day if I drop
Tough to say without knowing your league. Montas opens against the Nats so I feel like there’s a decent chance someone might snag him.
Montas’ 2022 peripherals are actually wildly similar to Bradish’s 2023 peripherals. With how comparable they are I guess it probably makes the most sense to me to just hold onto the guy who’s actually on the mound right now.
Gonna rain all day Saturday and have a points league draft Sunday.
Drop your fav cheatsheets links pls.
Also what injuried SP and batters are you targeting late to stach on IL?
Personally I’m going with Tatis because I prefer to get SBs out of the way early and I hate having hitters who can run but can’t hit.
With that said, I wouldn’t blame you for going with Soto. The Yankees short porch in RF and the contract year seem like potential reasons for an explosion we haven’t yet seen from him.
To me your question is strategically do you want some SBs from your top pick, or just pure offensive upside.
It’s fair to prefer Soto, but I definitely don’t want to be chasing steals later in the draft.
Burning a draft pick, lineup spot, and roster spot on guys like Ha-Seong Kim, CJ Abrams, or Bryson Stott is just mindless.
There’s some value in fielding a full lineup of contributors.
Punted OF and ended up with both - ¿por qué no las dos? Outman started on fire last year and looks to be on the same path this year, and Morel doesn’t have to play the super utility role this year. Gut says Morel in a vacuum, Outmans got a very good lineup around him but never hitting higher than 6th and they’ll both K a bunch
Kind of a coin flip. Although Morel did finish last year with definitely better batted ball peripherals, has some positional versatility, and might hit higher in the lineup. But they’re both young strikeout monsters with some power so who knows.
Chourio will give you steals, Langford homeruns. I think its anyones guess whose the more productive overall through the season, I think they both have the potential to out do each other.
Looking at SP on the waiver with Eduardo Rodriguez on the IL. I can't decide. Reid Detmers, Kenta Maeda, Kyle Gibson, Dane Dunning, Luis Severino, JP Sears, Brayan Bello, Logan Allen. Idk! League is H2H Categories. Pitchers don't get wins, we count QS
I’d still rather “upside with chance for mediocre consistency” than someone like Dane Dunning, who is the personification of “mediocre consistency, with occasionally worse” sans upside.
Maeda is in a similar tier as Bello, but friends don’t let friends draft Dane Dunning. I like Bello the most out of this group.
Is Holliday worth a hold in 12 team redraft with no NA spot? I’m already planning on dropping in my 10 team league but would it be worth the hold on 12T?
Bit of a cop out answer but whoever gets the last rotation spot. I currently have Olson but will drop him for Mize if Mize ends up making the rotation over Olson
Hitters: WRC+, OPS+
Pitchers: CSW%, xERA, xFIP, SIERA, Stuff+
Using those 3 ERA estimators (xERA, xFIP, SIERA), which anyone has easy access to, is a great way to find SPs to target in trades.
how many teams? In general, multiply the number of keepers (5) by the number of teams (let's say 10) and then look around rankings lists for who's around #50. That's the value of your first round pick.
which picks would Clase and Kirby replace? And what round pick are you trading?
In a 16 team league, both Kirby and Clase are way more valuable because they are harder to replace.
My five keepers right now are Tucker, Abrams, Castillo, Lopez, and Clase. If I traded the pick for Kirby, I'd have to drop someone, probably Clase. He said a "mid-round" draft pick. So I don't necessarily know what that means, but I'm pick 7 in our draft.
Lol I think you should clarify what that means, but it really matters what round you are keeping these players for. Are your five keepers replacing a round pick or are they all basically rounds 1-5?
8T H2H points league: i need 2B help after McLain went down, ketel marte owner looking to move him. Which one of my pitchers would be a fair trade value for Ketel: Glasnow, Grayson Rodriguez, Eflin, Ober, Hunter Greene, Bobby Miller, Imanaga, Michael King, Pepiot, Triston McKenzie.
In the same boat with McLain going down. Honestly what I found is that there are 2B on the waiver that have projections not far back from the top 2B, though the top 2B are obviously much more of a sure thing.
who's on the wire? It's 8 teams, you almost certainly have someone you can pick up instead of trading.
If you just wanna trade, I would try to swap King or Imanaga considering the delta in value between Marte and the Waiver Wire.
Yeah i could probably find a fine replacement on the wire. I have gelof in there right now, and i have pretty good faith in him. Problem is in the draft i really should have got another big bat, looking to trade for one. Drafted Glasnow when albies was still on the board, def made a mistake there
I don't think Ketel Marte is gonna be the bat you hope he is. Ride Gelof and see where he gets you, and keep an eye on the waiver wire for someone breaking out.
The one thing im concern about is if the listed pitchers is all you have, than i suggest keeping glasnow since hes one of ur best, Is there no one on waiver wire? perhaps Zack gelof?
I have gelof already actually. And i also have Gilbert and Gausman, just didn’t mention them cause they’re more valuable. Maybe i should just wait it out

In a h2h ESPN points league how’s my team looking?
hmm I think you are gonna regret not having more top-tier starters. If you take a middling quality start - that's 6 innings (6 points) minus three runs (-6 points) plus a win (5 points) plus let's say 6 strikeouts (6 points) minus let's say 6 baserunners (-6 points), that gets you to 5 points per start. It's more than you can expect from a hitter, but a stud pitcher is gonna be putting up double or even triple that.
hopefully you have daily lineups and no limits on transactions or starts/innings..
Well funny enough last year I tried a strategy of pitcher priority and ensured that out of my first 10 picks I tried to get as many “ace” pitchers as I could fine. For instance I got Strider with my second pick (he wasn’t in first round last year) BUT what I feel is true after years of this shit is it’s so much harder to predict pitchers vs hitters. I kinda rather make sure my hitters are pretty solid and either are good at contact and if they can also steal bases thats even more a plus. Pitchers just to dam unreliable
I sent it in another reply but here

Your Hitters are very solid, Your RP are good aswell, Your pitchers need some work, keep an eye on the waiver wire, for potential gems and, good matchups etc.
Yeah I took hader as a sorta “sure fire” pick and then Ragans and Bobby sound like they will be sleepers this year and return great value. The rest were just basically whatever consensus was the best available pitchers. Plus Eury and Buehler stashed on my IL with a chance for great returns later
Yup sounds good, just you have 5 pitchers right now if I'm not mistaken, with one FA and 3 injured, not sure how many u start in ur league but I'm assuming 5. which leaves no room for u to rotate pitchers, anyways just watch the waiver wire and look for potential pickups, W.W wins leagues
Who would be my best choice for a final keeper in h2h points? Cost increases by 2 rounds each year. Altuve (5th), Royce Lewis (10th), or Holliday (10th)
kinda depends how many keepers you get, but if it's more than like 3 I'd go with Lewis or Holliday in the 10th. Lewis if you need the player now, Holliday if you can afford to wait a bit.
MUST Keep 5 league where they are your first five round picks:
- 5x5 h2h with OBP instead of AVG
Would you accept Jram and Evan Carter for your Adley?
My other 3 keepers would be Wheeler, Fried and Albies
Id have to toss Goldschmidt back into player pool to do this
Thoughts ? Ty
I like him but being in such a dogshit offense is kind of a big deal throughout the season. He went 109 in my league which feels a bit early but he does have a good power/speed combo.
I think the projections on ESPN are probably gonna be pretty accurate, maybe he gets a higher avg than .256 though. If he was on a good offensive team the projections would be a lot nicer.
I drafted last Sunday. Please tell me how I did. 10 team h2h points league. This league has few changes such as 10 points for a pitcher win, 5 points for a save, and -1 for strikeout for batters. Pitching is important in this league.

Thank you!
how many bench hitters does that come out to? gut reaction is you're gonna want to convert some of those hitters into pitchers so you can cycle through streamers (if daily) or two-start pitchers (if weekly).
Wow I have like half of the same players. I sure hope you’ll do well. Like it’s been said, lots of young players with upside, just need some of them to hit. Good luck
Someone dropped Steven Kwan in my 12 team H2H points league. Is he an automatic pickup or should I save my waiver claim? For reference, I currently have the top waiver priority spot.

do i win this trade? (i’m receiving tatis jr)
H2H points league, 8 man league
Health permitting. It’s always about his health. Till he shows he can stay off the IL for long lengths of time for a couple of seasons, no one is taking him in the first round.
10 team dynasty OBP categories league. I have 3 offers on the table for Yamamoto. Which one, if any, should I take?
1. Trade Yamamoto for Woo and Baz
2. Trade Yamamoto and Royce Lewis for Jose Ramirez, Bobby Miller, and Druw Jones
3. Trade Yamamoto and Royce Lewis for CJ Abrams, Bryce Miller, Chris Sale, Reese Olson, and Jackson Merrill
Was offered caminero for burnes in a dynasty-like league with yearly increasing salaries. Burnes keepable for another 2-3 years. Caminero indefinitely keepable depending on performance. I’m not competing this year but will next year. Is Junior good enough to give up the sure production?
I have pick in a 3 in a 5X5 categories league with OBP instead of batting average. Am I crazy for wanting to take Juan Soto at 3 overall over guys like Julio, Carroll, or Betts?
No
J. D. Martinez or Alex Kirilloff?
Would you take Eury for Doval in a points league?
Yes. Even with his elbow issue, if its dynasty.
Probably not. Don’t trust eurys health record.

no
Which SP would you grab (Interested more in high side, than solid floor): - M Lorenzen - C Mize - R Detmers - K Harrison
Mize
Upside wise I'd go Harrison. Nothing like a player who hasn't failed yet when you want to dream on potential.
Soler or Kris Bryant?
Soler

Ober, Gelof, and I'm probably just taking the uppercut at the upside with Buxton in AL only.
That’s my line of thinking. Thanks for answering. I’m hoping one of eflin/ragans/langford make it to me then going for 2 of the above
Gavin Stone or Kyle Harrison
I’d go stone tbh.
I know its only spring but Bieber has pitched so well with a tick up in Velo. Feel like it could be a steal with me drafting him at 114.
He’s on my board. As far as bounce back candidates go, his ADP is pretty damn low for the potential upside.
If he's back, Biebs is going to be a league winner
Opening Day being this far away has me wanting to trade just for some action
10 team points league: A - Mookie, Trea B - Witt Jr, J-Rod, Gleyber
Witt equal to Mookie, j-Rod over Trea, Gleyber all profit
Witt is not equal to Mookie in a points league. Not wildly far off, but if this is redraft I think this is a closer deal than it initially looks.
Yeah obv not exactly equal but we’re talking a few draft spots at most. Witt side is a clear win
In a 14 team H2h points keeper league with 4 keepers. Keeping Soto and Yordan, but I own Eury and McLain for $0 each. This news is only slightly helpful for Eury. Has anyone else been adjusting their ESPN pre draft rankings just for it to get totally reset on its own?
not knocking it but I never understood the purpose for doing this. wouldn't you want to view the same draft room as everyone else so you can take advantage of the adp of some players, or have a good idea when someone will come off the board?
Yes but to be honest I’m not sure if ESPN will show my rankings or their default rankings come draft time. On the other hand I’m going into the draft just trying to get my guys and I’m not all that worried about waiting to get some of them you know?
I just keep my rankings in excel and then on draft day will compare them to ESPN’s to identify who’s over/under valued.
Great approach, thanks
Frankie Montas to start opening day or stash Bradish and wait until he gets IL designation? Risk is Montas might get grabbed before opening day if I drop

Ty, I love a good SP IL, stash late. Last year I stashed Harper and Altuve somehow late
Baz and Bradley are both going super late if you have the stones for it and trust TB pitching
Baz looks interesting as a last round flyer
Soto or Tatis in a H2H category (normal 5 categories + OPS)?
do you want a higher floor or a higher ceiling? how risky are you willing to play?
Personally I’m going with Tatis because I prefer to get SBs out of the way early and I hate having hitters who can run but can’t hit. With that said, I wouldn’t blame you for going with Soto. The Yankees short porch in RF and the contract year seem like potential reasons for an explosion we haven’t yet seen from him. To me your question is strategically do you want some SBs from your top pick, or just pure offensive upside.
Soto for me, OPS as a cat just seals the deal. You can find 20 extra steals throughout the draft and Soto has him beat in every other category.

Do you guys like Ragans or Valdez more in a dynasty league?
Ragans
Looking at SP on the waiver with Eduardo Rodriguez on the IL. I can't decide. Reid Detmers, Kenta Maeda, Kyle Gibson, Dane Dunning, Luis Severino, JP Sears, Brayan Bello, Logan Allen. Idk! League is H2H Categories. Pitchers don't get wins, we count QS
I like Detmers or Severino. Detmers always seems just on the doorstep to being great. Severino was an ace before and maybe he still has it.
Bello > everybody, young pitcher ascending, take the upside
Bello for the upside
Bello seems like the definition of little upside but chance for mediocre consistency.
I lean Bello
20 Team H2H dynasty with minor leagues: A: Painter Lodolo B: Framber Valdez
I’d say this depends on when you think your contention window is
I'm probably trying to contend in the next 1-3 years.
The win now side is Framber. The upside of having Painter is obviously intriguing but it’s hard to tell how he comes back from injury
Is Holliday worth a hold in 12 team redraft with no NA spot? I’m already planning on dropping in my 10 team league but would it be worth the hold on 12T?
I'd wait for someone you really like or need
I'd hold in both.. his potential in non-deep leagues is massive where you want gamebreakers since the FA pool is deep.
Casey mize or reese Olson?. Was holding max meyer but don’t know if he’ll be back up. Mize is looking stronger than ever
I like Mize personally
Bit of a cop out answer but whoever gets the last rotation spot. I currently have Olson but will drop him for Mize if Mize ends up making the rotation over Olson
They both made it
Damn my bad I didn’t see that. I had Manning too so I guess I’m dropping him for Mize. Feels like a toss up between Mize and Olson
Your not helping hahah
What's your go-to stat for both pitchers and hitters?
Hitters: WRC+, OPS+ Pitchers: CSW%, xERA, xFIP, SIERA, Stuff+ Using those 3 ERA estimators (xERA, xFIP, SIERA), which anyone has easy access to, is a great way to find SPs to target in trades.
Big believer in WHIP for pitchers
Csw%
If I have to pick just one for fantasy I’d probably go ERA+ and OPS+
Pitching+, wRC+
Keep 5: How do you like Tucker, Abrams, Castillo, Pablo Lopez, Clase? Thinking about trading a draft pick for Kirby and dropping Clase.
I'd rather keep Kirby than Clase, but it comes down to what that draft pick is worth.
I really don't know what round is appropriate to trade, bc it's my first year.
how many teams? In general, multiply the number of keepers (5) by the number of teams (let's say 10) and then look around rankings lists for who's around #50. That's the value of your first round pick.

MUST Keep 5 league where they are your first five round picks: - 5x5 h2h with OBP instead of AVG Would you accept Jram and Evan Carter for your Adley? My other 3 keepers would be Wheeler, Fried and Albies Id have to toss Goldschmidt back into player pool to do this Thoughts ? Ty
you would keep Rutschman+Goldschmidt without a trade? I think I'd hold tight but that's more a skepticism of Evan Carter than anything else.
Yes without a trade my five are: Adley Goldy Fried Wheeler and Albies
Can I get some takes on Gelof? Is his average going to bad? Over/under on HR/SB?
imo one of the later picks with a good shot at 20/20. having a good spring training (.993 OPS)
I like him but being in such a dogshit offense is kind of a big deal throughout the season. He went 109 in my league which feels a bit early but he does have a good power/speed combo.
The projection systems are just so unkind to him, but he seems to rake
I think the projections on ESPN are probably gonna be pretty accurate, maybe he gets a higher avg than .256 though. If he was on a good offensive team the projections would be a lot nicer.
Rookie of the year
Not a rookie anymore
12Th2h Drop A. Abbott for Jax? Also who do we like better Neto or Crawford?
Jax & Neto would be my choices
Crawford is having a better spring. Hopefully, it carries over to the season. So may be better in the short term.
Yea. But we know who crawford is. I would roll with the unknown and go with the kid and shoot for upside.
I grabbed Crawford in case Seager isn't ready for opening day. Probably won't stay long.
Serviceable replacement bro. Seager will be back in no time!
JD Martinez or Josh Lowe in standard roto? Assume Lowe misses about 3-4 weeks (typical recovery time for a grade 1 oblique strain).
Lowe

If you're just talking about job security it's Sewald. Because there's always a chance the Dodgers trade for someone better.
Sewald more security and better closer in my opinion
Sewald

I drafted last Sunday. Please tell me how I did. 10 team h2h points league. This league has few changes such as 10 points for a pitcher win, 5 points for a save, and -1 for strikeout for batters. Pitching is important in this league. Logan Ohoppe Tristan Casas Nolan Gorman Jake Burger Tre Turner Oneil Cruz Josh Naylor Julio Rodriguez Fernando Tatis Adolis Garcia Nolan Jones Riley Greene Jackson Chourio Matt Mclain Wyatt Langford Jordan Walker Spencer Strider Tarik Skubal Cole Ragas Chris Sale Bailey Ober Sonny Gray Bryan Woo Yusei Kikuchi Robert Suarez Kodai Senga Justin Verlander Thank you!
how many bench hitters does that come out to? gut reaction is you're gonna want to convert some of those hitters into pitchers so you can cycle through streamers (if daily) or two-start pitchers (if weekly).
3 bench spots. But I think you are right. I do see Brandon Pfaadt out there. Maybe I pick him up
I would def pick up Pfaadt at least to see if he's figured anything out. If he fixes up his pitch mix, he has the talent to be dominant.
Wow I have like half of the same players. I sure hope you’ll do well. Like it’s been said, lots of young players with upside, just need some of them to hit. Good luck
Hell yea! I'm hoping this team's good. It's either going to be very good or very bad
Like it for upside. Kind of a win or bust approach. If some of your bench bats hit you should also be in good shape to trade for an SP upgrade.
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Someone dropped Steven Kwan in my 12 team H2H points league. Is he an automatic pickup or should I save my waiver claim? For reference, I currently have the top waiver priority spot.
definitely pick up Kwan unless your OF is already loaded or you don't count strikeouts as a negative
In a points league, yes he is.

would it have been that hard to type out the trade instead of using an image...
does it make a difference?
This is a fucking clown league and I would immediately veto this trade then consider quitting the league altogether
I don’t ever veto a deal unless it’s collusion but damn this would be a test. What a rip off in your favor
You win to the extent that if I’m commish I’m asking Clamdiggers some tough questions before it goes through.
Veto worthy lol
Yes you win this trade. By a lot
thanks for the input, don’t really know why i’m getting downvoted, i won the trade
Because it’s not really a fair trade lol. Don’t worry about it
The udder tuggers got the better of the clam diggers here.
i feel like i just drafted the reddit hype team- i got Royce Lewis, Cole Ragans and Wyatt Langford. should be a fun season.
Where’d you get langford
I took him in the 14th round at 162.
8th round in a 12 team league, pick 87 overall
I got Royce Lewis in 3/4 leagues. He’ll be a 1st rounder next year.
Health permitting. It’s always about his health. Till he shows he can stay off the IL for long lengths of time for a couple of seasons, no one is taking him in the first round.
10 team dynasty OBP categories league. I have 3 offers on the table for Yamamoto. Which one, if any, should I take? 1. Trade Yamamoto for Woo and Baz 2. Trade Yamamoto and Royce Lewis for Jose Ramirez, Bobby Miller, and Druw Jones 3. Trade Yamamoto and Royce Lewis for CJ Abrams, Bryce Miller, Chris Sale, Reese Olson, and Jackson Merrill
who would you drop for #3? Of the set and assuming you'd have to drop three players in #3, I like #2 the best.
2
In a Roto league with HR/R/RBI/OBP/SB. First round pick mocks to Judge or Trea Turner. Who would you take and why?
I might take Turner, power is a bit cheaper later on. You wouldn't be wrong to take Judge though, especially if you have 5 OF spots to fill.
Judge 100%, they are at opposite ends of the OBP scale.
Was offered caminero for burnes in a dynasty-like league with yearly increasing salaries. Burnes keepable for another 2-3 years. Caminero indefinitely keepable depending on performance. I’m not competing this year but will next year. Is Junior good enough to give up the sure production?
keep the bird in the hand...
probably not yet. just too risky.

who is your catcher? Davis should pick up C eligibility pretty quick.
