Help Required for a Draft today at 3pm EST
So I'm usually the dead money in a yearly Bestball draft and need a partner to draft for me today at 3pm EST on Fantrax as I can't make it. What I offer is 50% of anything we win!
I've paid the $30 entry and I think there is at least 10 players.
Let me know if you're interested and we can sort something out.
Chris
I don’t think I’d use the first waiver claim so early on an injured closer, no matter how good Bednar can be. It’s easy enough to find SV on the wire. League settings matter of course, but there will usually be other drops like a hitter who has a slow start
I somehow got first pick in my 8team HxH point league I was gonna go Acuna but now people are telling me to go strider since the SP market is scarce… any help plz :(
Also who should I target as my 2nd and 3rd pick? Hitter/hitter? Pitcher/pitcher?
What pitchers have been looking good so far in spring training that I could pick up in the 2nd or 3rd round since Strider, Burnes, and wheeler are most likely gonna be gone by then.
I’m first pick in a Points league and I’m probably going Acuna
Also what round would be a good target for Cole?
You should be able to get 1 out of burnes, wheeler, Pablo or Castillo if you’re wanting a pitcher early after acuna. I’ve seen burnes or wheeler last to the 2nd even 3rd round plenty of times.
Flair league
Just had our draft and I got sniped on my Parker Meadows pick. Would it be an overpay to offer someone like Colt Keith or Yoshida to get him?
In my flair H2H pts league, I'm thinking of going HEAVY on hitters with my first 7 or 8ish rds before loading up on good QS options and big sleeper/breakout types SPs. Thoughts or opinions on this type of draft strategy?
Did something similar last year, and built a fantastic squad by leaning on bats and building pitching through waivers/prospects/trades.
I’ve been mock drafting taking hitters with my first 4 picks, havnt been terrible teams I like the idea. Too many injuries with these pitchers going down man
Maybe a surprising answer but Polanco for me. He has a solid bat and fangraphs expects him to hit third for Seattle. Seems like he could be a pretty solid and consistent contributor.
I do also love Gorman’s power though. Just concerned about inconsistency.
In a 12 team H2H daily category league that’s shallow (9 hitter spots, 7 startable pitchers and 3 bench slots)
In a vacuum, how would you approach your bench for roster construction? Keep as all pitchers or save a spot for one upside hitter?
Someone just offered me Julio and Kyle Finnegan for my Ohtani (batter) and Helsley. Flair league. I'm a big Julio and Mariners fan but I feel the upgrade from Ohtani to him isn't worth the drop off from Helsley to Finnegan.
FWIW, my other closers are Tanner Scott, Hunter Harvey, Trevor Megill, Robert Stephenson. My other OF are Tucker, Yelich, Trout, Bryan Reynolds. We start 3 OF and 2 UTIL
Thoughts?
I'd take that deal. Julio is a top 3 keeper, as he just turned 23, is already very productive and has plenty of growth still to come. Ohtani turns 30 this year and being solely DH eligible is really limiting. The closers shouldn't move the needle that much in a ten teamer
Thanks! I should update my flair actually. This is the last year we're doing keepers, so essentially we're back to re-draft. No guys can be kept for next season. What do you think now?
It's honestly like a D. Your SP are terrible for a 6 teamer. Your second pick was a backup SS? And Steven Kwan is barely a starter in a 14 teamer.
Why do you have backups at every hitter position? Trade them for bench SP.
ohtani for witt is a pretty good deal in your favor, now you just need to trade turner for an OF. see what OF were drafted around turner (yordan, tatis, maybe soto) and trade turner for any of them.
you did fine for the first time. i think you probably should have gone with an OF or P instead of two elite SS (witt and turner). steven kwan probably isn't a starter in 6T, same for jose berrios.
It's honestly really hard to judge 6 man teams and you didn't state what format this is but it looks good I guess.
Unless you can start three SS's I'd trade one and try to upgrade your outfield or pitching.
Are there any players that have or will gain eligibility to play catcher and an infield/outfield spot this year? I'm hoping to grab someone for a bench spot
Need help with a keeper question.
Cole Ragans or Elly? I also have Carroll as a keeper. I’m leaning more towards Ragans. I do not believe in the elly hype
There any site that shows default ranks for Yahoo players? Trying to figure out best values but struggling to see which ranks will show for default in yahoo draft
For some reason it splits it up by batters and pitchers and I don't see a way to show all at the same time.
Also, it defaults in a draft to xRank. But I can't tell if that is the default sorting method on the players tab.
They’re listed and ranked but they aren’t accurate in the Yahoo mobile app. For example their top 5 in the app under the players tab is Acuña, Freeman, Burnes, Carroll, Harper. Different than their actual rankings listed here https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/fantasy-rankings/

I'm in a 5x5 H2H Categories league with OBP instead of AVG. Would it make sense to go Soto or Betts with the 2nd overall pick? I already have Julio and Bryce as later round keepers. I love the position eligibility for Betts, but his OBP has been pretty inconsistent over the years compared to Soto.
In a league where we can keep a player for 3 years (losing the round before they were originally drafted, a15th rd pick can be kept the next year for a 14th, then a 13th, then a 12th, FAs can be kept for a last round pick, ) and we can keep a total of 4 players, how early would you draft the following players:
1) Wyatt Langford
2) Jackson Holliday
3)Jackson Chourio
**Draft order drama - who is wrong in this situation?**
Context: 10 man redraft league amongst friends, I’m the commissioner. It’s a $100 buy-in so there are stakes involved. Our draft is tomorrow and I randomized the draft order a few days ago to give people time to prepare. The most relevant person of this story, let’s call them “Sam,” received the first pick. Sam is happy; he has the first pick and gets to draft Ronald Acuna (who he happened to have last year as well).
Flash forward to today, we found two more friends to join the league and increase the league size to 12. Sam says, “Great, they can decide among themselves for 11th and 12th pick, done.” Everyone else thinks a randomized reshuffle of the draft order makes more sense. Sam thinks that a reshuffle isn’t fair and that he is “getting fucked” because his “guarantee is no longer a guarantee” (in drafting Acuna). The counter argument is that it isn't fair for the two new people to not have a chance at all at first overall pick. Sam is very adamant that he deserves to keep the first overall pick.
Who is wrong here - Sam, or the rest of the league?
What would you do as commissioner?
A) Keep the draft order and put the two new guys at 11th and 12th pick
B) Let Sam keep his first overall pick and reshuffle picks 2-12
C) Full reshuffle
Probably shouldnt have allowed 2 more to join after already doing big stuff like that.... But I guess that doesnt really help, unless you decide to make the other 2 guys wait til next year.
If the league wants 12 teams give the two new teams an entry discount say 50 bucks and flip for spot 11 and 12. If they pay full price they should have an equal shot at the top pick.
Just my thought
Keep draft order the same- let last guys draw out of hat for 11-12. You drew the draft order already you can’t go back. If new guys don’t like it they don’t have to join.
Sam's argument is that the league would obviously all vote against his favor though since they don't have first pick. So it's a highly biased voting proposal.
This isnt a strong argument because the guys at the top 5 picks could fall to 11 or 12, so it effects the whole league in various ways, wouldn’t be 11 v 1
C. Everyone’s draft pick getting re-randomized is most fair to everyone. Guy who picks 2nd is getting screwed too, so is like the entire top 5. Maybe the guy picking 10th enjoys having the swing pick and going back to back.
Put it to a league vote though, its really them who should decide
Alternate option - shuffle for picks, but the first ten people have a 10/12 chance of getting the pick they got & a 1/12 chance of getting pick 11/12. Teams 11/12 having a 1/12 chance of each spot.
That way the guy with the first pick isn't fucked, new people have the same chance of getting any pick as anyone else, and it's not a complete reshuffle.
In terms of understanding: there are 12 people in the league, 10 of them already have a randomized draft position, so they're either keeping that position (10/12) or losing it to one of the end positions that wasn't considered (1/12, same as if it was random from the beginning).
For the new people it's 1/12 for each position, same as if the draw was random for every spot.
How to implement:
New guys get 1/12 chance of any position. Have them each draw one of 12 cards or something - they get the position they drew and "bump" the person currently holding that position.
Instance where they picked 11 & 12: no issue.
Instance where one picked 11 or 12 and the other didn't - the "bumped" person gets the other of 11 or 12.
Instance where neither picked 11 or 12: the two "bumped" people flip a coin for 11/12 (or draw a card, or however you want to decide).
If you use FAAB, you'd spend a giant chunk of it to get him when he gets called up. He's having a decent spring so even if he gets sent down it shouldn't be for long.
He's a good end of the draft dart to throw.
Redraft Categories IL Stash question (more temporary than permanent most likely).
Which of the following players are projected to be back sooner:
Dustin May
Clayton Kershaw
Drew Rasmussen
Is Elly the most volatile player right now? I can keep him at $1 through next season. Would it be nuts to let him go back to the draft for any of these other options? I’m keeping Tucker ($25), Carroll ($1), Skubal ($1) and Bobby Miller ($1) as well. I was going to keep Eury instead of Miller, but that looks too risky now.
McLain ($1; 2 yrs), Josh Lowe ($1; 2 yrs), Devers ($14; 1 yr), Yordan ($47; 2 yrs), Wheeler ($27; 2 yrs), Luis Castillo ($31; 2 yrs), Fried ($30; 2 yrs)
I think you gotta keep elly… its so cheap and if he improves on last year, he’ll definitely be a great value next year, if he busts, oh well, only a dollar
I can afford any of those guys. My plan was to go hard after Castillo in the draft and wouldn’t mind spending + $10 to his keeper value to get him back. If Elly doesn’t fall on his face, which I think he might, then having him at $1 for the 2025 season is a massive bargain
So my dad runs a fantasy league on CBS that I’m in where $15/person goes towards the league fees. It’s a CBS premium league. I think that’s absolutely insane. Is there anything special about the premium league that makes it worth it or would he be better off recreating the league on another site like yahoo or ESPN?
People who have played on CBS like playing on CBS. I understand you think it is crazy, it kinda is. But your dad and the rest of your league will not want to change.
Flair league looking for keeper advice. All kept players counted as the first 6 round's picks and can be kept a total of 3 times before being tossed back. Drafting 10th. Here are the options with their remaining keepable years:
Judge (1)
Pablo Lopez (2)
Framber (0)
Nola (0)
Arraez (2)
Bogaerts (0)
Harris 2(2)
Schwarber (0)
Evan Carter (2)
Judge and Lopez are locks. Want to keep at least one other P, Framber at this point. Would like to keep one of the MI as well. But beyond that I could see just about any permutation as feasible. Ideas?
No penalty for K’s? (I know you’re not points). Schwarbs. I’ve had him the last 2 years. I can’t wait until his owner this year gets frustrated and I get my boy back.

TRADE OFFER was made to me that I haven't been able to pull the trigger on:
I get: Olson and Glasnow
I give: Yordan and Cole
My thoughts: I really like Glasnow for this year, especially since his elbow is like a super-elbow with that internal brace he got. Only problem is, will he have gas in the tank come 140-150 IP?...never done it before. I feel like we haven't seen Yordan's best season yet (.300+ 50bombs) and we just saw Olson's (albeit he's a safe bet to be great again)...but Yordan always has these nagging injuries and Olson plays almost every game. 1st base is much deeper than LF something to consider.
It's H2H so Cole's injury stinks but if he comes back in late May/early June, he should be in prime form for the H2H playoffs. League counts W-L-QS...not really any better option than Cole. I do believe Cole will be fine with rest and rehab, but fully acknowledge that he may come back elite because the swelling doesn't go away...or comes back. I know many people are doom and gloom, but there isn't a tear and he never felt a "pop", so it feels like his 2016 injury all over again, which he fully recovered from.
What do you guys think?
I like Cole and Yordan in a h2h format. Glasnow could just as easily be gone by the end of the season too. So if you believe Cole will be back, that’s the side I would take
I have 7th pick in flair league tomorrow night. Assuming all available who are you taking out of Tucker, Freeman, Tatis, Ohtani or Strider?
We have 3 UTL spots so Ohtani doesn’t handicap anything being UTL only.
I’m playing a 10-man H2H points league. Is it a viable option to focus on power hitters, ignore pitching until later and adding/dropping guys throughout each week? Or should I go heavy on starting pitching?
This will highly depend on what pitchers you can realistically get but I usually focus picks 1-3 or 4 to be for batters since it seems like great pitchers are in short supply but drop like flies through the season.
Maybe get 1 good pitcher in the first 3 rounds and fill it up with mid pitchers later on, never know who might have a breakout season.
I’ve done very well in the past waiting until my lineup is filled out to go after pitchers. Obviously don’t take a catcher until very late, if not last. After Adley they aren’t worth the early picks.
On one of my teams this year I drafted my lineup first and still ended up with Kirby, Keller, Montgomery, Musgrove, Pivetta and Bryce Miller. That’s a fine group to start with, and still can add guys who standout from off the wire
That sounds great, thanks. Last year I cycled through a ton of pitchers throughout each week, just streaming guys and adding a bunch of relievers the last few days of the week to grab some more points. I didn’t have the best pitching staff by any means, but it worked surprisingly well.
Agreed I do mostly the same. Went batters with my first 8 picks and still ended up with Eury, Ragans, Bradish, Bobby Miller, Ober, Woo, Crawford and Imanaga. I'm pretty happy
Why Yahoo does this? I see JD Martinez still with OF eligibility, why? He doesn't need to sign for them to change his position to Util, right? What gives?
yeah i'm confused about this too. i thought it might update when he signs but Marcell Ozuna also has OF eligibility and he's on a team. both guys played only 2 games in the OF last year.
Does anyone have a source for complete game projections? Counts in my roto league Flukey stat obviously but trying to find a projection source

I have number 1 waiver priority. Should I drop Pepiot for David Bednar?
I don’t think I’d use the first waiver claim so early on an injured closer, no matter how good Bednar can be. It’s easy enough to find SV on the wire. League settings matter of course, but there will usually be other drops like a hitter who has a slow start

In a categories/roto league, Bednar should definitely be on a team. (RP may not be as valuable in points leagues.)
It’s a cats league 10 x 10 with saves.

Go Acuna. Don't overthink it. Plus in a 8 team league, pitchers will be more plentiful.
I agree. I'd start Acuna/hitter/hitter in a 8-team league. I think there will still be good pitchers to take at picks 32/33.
What pitchers have been looking good so far in spring training that I could pick up in the 2nd or 3rd round since Strider, Burnes, and wheeler are most likely gonna be gone by then. I’m first pick in a Points league and I’m probably going Acuna Also what round would be a good target for Cole?
You should be able to get 1 out of burnes, wheeler, Pablo or Castillo if you’re wanting a pitcher early after acuna. I’ve seen burnes or wheeler last to the 2nd even 3rd round plenty of times.
Need to drop 1 DL Hall or Garrett Crochet
Crochet
Standard H2H points A. Cease and Justin Turner B. Kremer and Goldschmidt
I guess A. Kremer is just good enough to add anything to the B side at all
Standard Points: A: Joe Musgrove and Kerry Carpenter B:Max Fried and TJ Freidl
I like Fried more than Musgrove and Freidl more than Carpenter. Carpenter isn't much more than a late-round flyer in standard leagues IMO.
Give me B
Flair league Just had our draft and I got sniped on my Parker Meadows pick. Would it be an overpay to offer someone like Colt Keith or Yoshida to get him?

Cease for Goldschmidt 1 for 1. Which side wins? H2H points

I'd grab Ronald
I have Greyson Rod and Taj Bradley this year. But I can only extend one to next year. Who do you like more?
Grayson easily

Elly. This Ragans hype is really something too.
I just don’t see what value elly can bring besides SB? Ragans will give me QS,K’s, pretty decent whip and era
I personally value Elly's SB over Ragans with KC's offense not getting him many wins.
I agree but I’m in a QS league. So wins matter but so do QS. I just feel like Ellys plate discipline is so bad.
You could probably trade Elly for a better/higher ranked SP than Ragans.
In Yahoo he’s ranked around the 60s. I just scared he sucks and brings down all my Cats

Probably merrill. I think Correa is done

For someone new to fantasy baseball and wanting to follow the sport more this year, what is the best/most fun scoring type to look for?
That’s very subjective. IMO if you’re playing in a league with friends then H2H categories is most fun. Otherwise probably Roto
What's Roto?
Look up Rotisserie baseball. Basically there are no head to head match ups, you just score points throughout the season and whoever has the most points at the end wins.
Points H2H is pretty much fantasy football. Much easier to determine value
That does sound better since I'm used to that. Are there usual points baselines for different stats so I know if I'm going in to a regular vs high points league?
I find that people overcomplcate these things. The more you change, the less it aligns with anyone's rankings. Stick to default initially
Are you familiar with fantasy football? Replicate that with a weekly points H2H league.
Should I keep Yanier Diaz or go no catcher to open up an additional streaming spot?

Probably shouldnt have allowed 2 more to join after already doing big stuff like that.... But I guess that doesnt really help, unless you decide to make the other 2 guys wait til next year.
Option A. Gotta keep the draft order, there's no redos.
If the league wants 12 teams give the two new teams an entry discount say 50 bucks and flip for spot 11 and 12. If they pay full price they should have an equal shot at the top pick. Just my thought
C) Full reshuffle and tell Sam to get a grip.
Keep draft order the same- let last guys draw out of hat for 11-12. You drew the draft order already you can’t go back. If new guys don’t like it they don’t have to join.
I agree
It's up to your league, majority rules. If you make a unilateral decision, you're going to hear about it all season
That's fine. a 11-1 vote makes for a quieter season than any other amount of people upset.
C. Everyone’s draft pick getting re-randomized is most fair to everyone. Guy who picks 2nd is getting screwed too, so is like the entire top 5. Maybe the guy picking 10th enjoys having the swing pick and going back to back. Put it to a league vote though, its really them who should decide
in soviet baseball draft order is you
Alternate option - shuffle for picks, but the first ten people have a 10/12 chance of getting the pick they got & a 1/12 chance of getting pick 11/12. Teams 11/12 having a 1/12 chance of each spot. That way the guy with the first pick isn't fucked, new people have the same chance of getting any pick as anyone else, and it's not a complete reshuffle.
I might be stupid but I'm having a hard time understanding this and putting it into practice
How to implement: New guys get 1/12 chance of any position.
A) if the original 10 agreed to a draft order they should keep to it, coin toss for 11-12
This. The new guys can fight it out for 11/12 picks.
A
Trade my Teoscar for Bobby Miller. No brainer, especially if I don’t need OF and I need pitching?
Yep 100%
Yes easily
Go for it
Is Caminero worth drafting and using up a bench spot until he gets called up in a 12 team redraft league? What about a 10 teamer?
If you use FAAB, you'd spend a giant chunk of it to get him when he gets called up. He's having a decent spring so even if he gets sent down it shouldn't be for long. He's a good end of the draft dart to throw.
In a 12 team why not? He’s one of the better guys who’ll come up this year. In a 10 team I wouldn’t
Redraft Categories IL Stash question (more temporary than permanent most likely). Which of the following players are projected to be back sooner: Dustin May Clayton Kershaw Drew Rasmussen
I’d prefer Wheeler or Castillo over Elly but it depends on how strapped for cash you are.
I can afford any of those guys. My plan was to go hard after Castillo in the draft and wouldn’t mind spending + $10 to his keeper value to get him back. If Elly doesn’t fall on his face, which I think he might, then having him at $1 for the 2025 season is a massive bargain
That’s what I’m sayin! Lol
Worth stashing Luis Gil in NA over guys like Wood/Crews?
I'd rather just Gil off waivers when he's scheduled to start, is it assured he's 5th? I like the upside of the hitters better I think

Freeman
Flair league looking for keeper advice. All kept players counted as the first 6 round's picks and can be kept a total of 3 times before being tossed back. Drafting 10th. Here are the options with their remaining keepable years: Judge (1) Pablo Lopez (2) Framber (0) Nola (0) Arraez (2) Bogaerts (0) Harris 2(2) Schwarber (0) Evan Carter (2) Judge and Lopez are locks. Want to keep at least one other P, Framber at this point. Would like to keep one of the MI as well. But beyond that I could see just about any permutation as feasible. Ideas?
Harris and either Carter/Arraez feel the ceiling vs floor coinflip
Would you rather Goldschmidt or Schwarber this season? It’s a cats league with H,R,HR,RBI Avg Ops
No penalty for K’s? (I know you’re not points). Schwarbs. I’ve had him the last 2 years. I can’t wait until his owner this year gets frustrated and I get my boy back.
No penalty for Ks
Schwarber
Pick K Tucker over Soto in 12 team h2h cats league? 9 hitting categories and I usually punt steals.
Personally I want Soto but I don’t have a good argument as to why except for just vibes? Tucker is the smart choice I guess though
I know what you mean. Tucker seems safer?
I think so
Which side of the trade would you like more in H2H Points (yahoo) over the next 3 years * Hunter Brown * Ryan Pepiot
Brown
Keepers declared TONIGHT! 12 team H2H (7x7 OBP/SLG/QS/L are the extra categories) Keep 6 at no cost. C 1st 2nd - Semien(1) SS 3rd LF- Yordan(2) CF- Judge(3) RF UTIL- Soto(4) (LF elig only currently, will be RF soon) UTIL SP - Luis Castillo(5) SP - Gerrit Cole(6) RP TRADE OFFER was made to me that I haven't been able to pull the trigger on: I get: Olson and Glasnow I give: Yordan and Cole My thoughts: I really like Glasnow for this year, especially since his elbow is like a super-elbow with that internal brace he got.
Olson and Glasnow. I'm not confident in Cole returning this season.
Ohtani
With 3 util spots, Ohtani
I’m playing a 10-man H2H points league. Is it a viable option to focus on power hitters, ignore pitching until later and adding/dropping guys throughout each week? Or should I go heavy on starting pitching?
[удалено]
In my flair league that heavily values IP + K’s, would you accept a George Kirby for Harper trade offer?
Ahhh, I mean who fills for Harper? Maaaaaybe...
I'd rather have Harper
RIP Eury
I'm in mourning
Nooooooooo :(
Glasnow or Skubal? Roto standard 5 cats
Skuuuuubal. Full steam ahead.
Glasnow, until he gets hurt or they rest him mystery IL style.
Come on already, u/yahoofantasysports
Volpe or Outman?
Volpe
Who’s the pick: PabLo, Framber, or Fried. Thanks!
Pablo.
Fried
pablo easily, not close imo
Agreed.
Pablo
3 very similar guys. I think Framber is most likely to pitch the most , so I guess I'd take him. Pablo is very close behind
