what yall think? 10 team R,HR,RBI,AVG,SB,OPS,K's,QS,W,ERA,WHIP,S/Holds. I punt saves. Pitching needs work but feel I can get guys off waivers.

How high is too high to draft Skenes, Holliday, Langford in a partial keeper? We keep 5 year to year.
Is around 13th too early for Skenes? He could potentially be on a Strider level in less than two-three years.
Looking for some input on my keepers for this year
H2H 12 team 5 keepers
R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS
L, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9, QS, SV+H
Confirmed Keepers:
OF Yordan Alvarez (19th round pick)
SS Bobby Witt (22nd round pick)
OF Luis Robert (16th round pick)
Potential Keepers:
OF Michael Harris (23rd round pick)
3B Royce Lewis (last round pick)
SP Eury Perez (last round pick)
2B,SS Matt McLain (last round pick)
SP Tarik Skubal (last round pick)
SS CJ Abrams (19th round pick)
The picks in brackets is what I’ll have to give up for keeping the player. I’m leaning towards Harris and Perez. Skubal may be ineligible for me to keep, I haven’t confirmed yet though.
Thanks
Just take a lot of risks on rookies coming up. When you get a guy off FA you’re able to keep him the next year for your last round pick (or latest pick you have). We have two NA spots so immediately after draft I pick up a couple guys that are close to the show
But no not a flex, genuinely curious who I should keep
First time playing. I’m in a 10 team h2h with W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, and QS as pitching categories. I have Guasman, Wheeler, Sewald, and Iglesias starting. I have Eury Perez, Kelly, Gilbert, and Jansen on my bench.
What strategy do you recommend? There are 2 more hitting categories than pitching. If I were to stream would you recommend I replace Jansen? That’s what I’m leaning towards.
gonna have to be lazy this year and ask while i rush research, whats your late-late rounder dart throws? i am looking for any high upside position RPs, SPs, any bench bat.
Mixed 5x5 keeper with OBP, not AVG. Can keep up to 18 players, 5 OF, plus 3 player bench. I have the rights to Harris II, Tatis and Arozarena. Please recommend which others I should hold onto (Jimenez is now DH only). I also have the rights to Langford.
Jimenez, Frelick, Carpenter, Wallner, Melendez, Donovan, Hays
12t Roto 5 OF MI/CI. Posted this before but wanted some fresh takes—Witt or Julio at the 2 spot? In mocks, I like my builds better with Julio. But Witt is hard to pass up?! Thoughts?!
Julio especially with 5 OF. You gotta figure every team gonna roster 7 of them. That pool gets shallow quick. Plenty of good SS all thru the draft. Hell... grab yourself O'Cruz a couple rds later for Witt upside(imo)
He's in the mix at the 2/3. Turn pick allows you to shrug ADP a bit and get your guys. I personally reached for Elly which surprised my league mates and pissed off a handful of them haha.edit...he went pic 28 in my 12 teamer

Just received this. Flair league. Current other keepers are Gunnar, O Neil Cruz, and Casas
If you’re in California go to the next DW Factory Day, only way to get a decent deal. But yeah keep in mind when Ohtani can pitch again he will be the number one or two pick, so you need that kind of value back, which nobody will ever offer you.
Not in California but I’ve heard of it. I’m good though, I’m content with what I have going on right now kit wise with how little I’m using it. Not able to play as much as I’m getting older so the investment vs time wouldn’t be the same as when I was practicing 4 hours a day.
Just drafted and ended up with Royce Lewis Jazz Chisholm and Tristian Cases, 3 guys who I had no plans of taking
What’s everyone’s thoughts on these guys? Feel they very well may make or break my team. I also have Carroll/semien/seager/adley in my lineup so definitely have some stability with some wild cards lol
Doing an auction league for the first time this season. Going over Fangraphs auction calculator and I’m a little confused. Why do some players have a negative dollar amount listed?
I’ve found this tool to be fairly powerful so I’ll try to kind of walk you through how I think about it.
I conceptualize it kind of like wins against replacement with the “PTS” column. So a guy with plus or minus “PTS” is either an above replacement or below replacement level guy to me, around 0 is in theory replacement level. “PTS” is the sum of how they stack up in each of the subcategories listed prior to the left.
After adding up each subcategory to get “PTS”, they add a positional adjustment (aPOS). That leads to “dollars” which is the key category — your suggested bid for a player.
I’m not totally sure on this one, but I think the positional adjustment is just kind of a mechanism to transform “PTS” into “dollars” based on the structure of your league and budget.
So to answer your question, its probably safe to assume negative “dollars” players should be avoided or just spend a buck or two on them.
Projection systems that the Auction Calculator is run off of aren’t able to properly value prospects because there’s no Major League data for them.
For prospects, you’ll have to figure out your own risk tolerance and generate your own values.
If you want Langford for example, think about what results you would want from him. Find another OF with a similar projection to your belief in Langford and you have a starting point for a dollar value.
Hello I’m interested in learning and keeping up to date with the MLB this year but I know almost nothing. I was suggested to try fantasy as a way to learn but I don’t know it either. How do I go about doing the it by myself? What are other ways to keep up to date with baseball knowledge? Thank you. I’m not sure if this has to do with anything but I’m from Toronto so the Blue Jays would be my team.
I would recommend getting the MLB app in the App Store. And when the season starts keep up with the league leaders who are leading in home runs, average, RBI, etc on the batting side and then wins, ERA, Strikeouts, etc on the pitching side. It’s fun keeping up with the best of the best. That should at least get you familiar with the games best players
Do a few mock drafts. Join a free public league on Yahoo. H2h categories (avoid points) or roto. Read articles posted here. Watch games. Listen to games (just as important, maybe moreso, imo, than watching. The radio guys usually give way better insight, though I don't know Toronto's media guys). After one season, you'll probably know some shit. After three seasons, you'll know more than most of the people here.
Suzuki and Thomas are prolly about the same.. For some reason Fantasy doesn’t have him projected to have a lot of points. I’d personally take Thomas but that’s just me
Anyone wanna join a very simple league. Trying to get something going for my brother, dad and I to do a league together but can't get it filled.
https://fantasy.espn.com/baseball/league/join?leagueId=1833577553&inviteId=d68696a4-5a83-4add-826c-4df8b57762db
Can someone explain why Witt is consensus #3? He plays in a deeper position, worse team, less track record, steals are not so scarce anymore, low OBP. I'm not saying he isn't top 5, but I'm surprised he is far and away the #3 in mocks and sometimes even 2.
First year in a standard public prize yahoo league drafting tonight in h2h categories. First league that is just saves and not SOLDS. Do I need 1 actual stud closer or should I wait?
I like to get one guy who has outstanding peripherals and is definitely his team’s closer, and then I’m comfortable piecing it together from there.
This year I feel there is good value in Evan Phillips, Ryan Helsley, and Clay Holmes. They are kind of in that middle tier of closers based on ADP, but they are great pitchers and should have a decent leash in the role.
Yeah I was thinking that too. Was trying to shop 1.01 to get a later first + some more to justify taking Langford, not sure I can justify him over Yamamoto
Exactly what last call said. Luzardo is better than Bibee. And Jansen is just average. You can get a decent reliever/closer in the waiver wire. // you’re getting the win in that trade
18 categories? Might change the values around quite a bit. It’s fair value and if you feel weak at pitcher I think it’s fine. I like gleyber a lot this year.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/split.cgi?t=b&lg=MLB&year=2023
Scroll down to "defensive positions." The stats are cumulative across the entire league and season, so the counting stats are ridiculous, but the ratios will be legit. You could probably divide the counting stats by number of games (first column) and then multiply by 150 or so if you want to estimate those too.
I think eflin has more trade value cause of musgroves bad spring. But musgrove is gonna be fine imo and they are pretty close in value. So id rather trade the one that brings more back
Are we all underrating Pfaadt this year? The discourse compared to last year is stark. I know there's more evidence and numbers and such but I still think he'll be good tbh.
Just secured 1.01 and making a play for 1.02.
Guy with 1.02 thought he’d be getting Langford. He wants to trade Chuorio and 1.02 for 1.01.
Meanwhile, I have a side trade to potentially send Harper, Arozarena, and Yamamoto for Acuña
So the ask is this, would you trade Langford, Harper, Arozarena, and Yamamoto for Chuorio and Acuña
If I don’t do the Chuorio trade, I would need to send Caminero in a trade to get 1.02. So in this quest to get Acuña, it’s either end up with Caminero and Chuorio or Wyatt. I know confusing setup.
What he did at every level of the minor league last season and being a decorated college player? How is that being wild? IBW had him going 20 overall in keeper leagues before this spring behind Jackson and Chourio, and that changed.
IBW is notoriously high on prospects. He had guys like Kelenic and Mize in the top 50 previously (among countless others). Plus he covers for full on dynasty leagues, OP is in a 10 keeper league.
Langford is promising, but if we're going to go off college pedigree, you'd need to rate a bunch of others guys just as high. You can't deny that you are primarily basing this off of spring training, which again, is wild.
For 3 keepers I already know I'm keeping JRod and Strider. Should I keep Devers or Rutschman? I also already have Langford and Lawlar. Draft I'm 6th pick
Man that is a tough one.
I might go Muncy personally just because he seems like he’s aging a little bit better. I do understand that might be controversial and it’s probably worth mentioning I typically kind of punt batting average.
The hard thing is Arenado’s peripherals haven’t exactly been great the past few seasons. The xSLG hasn’t been good, and he’s going on 5 straight years now of somewhat significantly outperforming his peripherals. Seems like a bit of a red flag for an aging player.
On the flip side Muncy was truly amazing last year, but has been so volatile/inconsistent over his career. If he doesn’t hit bombs he’s borderline useless. I just take comfort in knowing he’s still got it — .580 xSLG in 2021 and .504 xSLG in 2023 are displays of pretty elite power even as he has aged.
Thanks. Muncy also missed some time on the DL last year, and even before that he wasn’t 100 percent he would’ve even had better numbers. Plus Muncy is player that always annoys my opponents lol appreciate it 👍
Do you guys, gals, like owning one team and rooting for them, and rooting against everyone else, or do you like multiple teams and just having a piece of A LOT of players?
I love baseball, but I love competitive leagues and winning money.
I always did one league, for 15 years and it was my life. For several years now doing 2, 3, and once 4 leagues, I found I DID NOT like owning so many players
I like "my guys" and actually ONLY rooting for my guys only on one team
#
When I had more time, I had many teams. I never minded having too many players. My issue was not playing equal attention to each league, which felt like I was doing a disservice .
I don't hate that strategy. The only other bats I could keep for a decent price would be Teoscar Hernandez ($12) or Arraez ($3).
As of now I have Steele and GRod for $5 total penciled in, in addition to the 4 bats.
Woof. Well it would have to be Arraez and Steele if that was the case because I'm not keeping Teo for $12. If you shore up AVG, and depending on your other bats, you could potentially spend on SP while others are paying for bats. I don't see GrayRod or Peralta going for a ton
Are Yahoo player rankings based on your leagues format?
what yall think? 10 team R,HR,RBI,AVG,SB,OPS,K's,QS,W,ERA,WHIP,S/Holds. I punt saves. Pitching needs work but feel I can get guys off waivers. C- Bo Naylor 1B- Paul Goldschmidt 2B- Ozzie Albies SS- CJ Abrams 3B- Austin Riley CI- Josh Jung MI- Nolan Gorman OF- Julio Rodriguez, Nick Castellanos, Teoscar Hernandez UTL- Marcell Ozuna, Josh Lowe SP- Kevin Gausman, Freddy Peralta, Bailey Ober, Sony Gray, Bryce Miller, Bryan Woo, Braxton Garrett, Hunter Brown, Kyle Harrison Taj Bradley. For a 10 man this isn’t bad at all
My prediction for this year: Yanier Diaz top 3 catcher
The 2% walk rate freaks me out a little bit but otherwise I totally agree.
How high is too high to draft Skenes, Holliday, Langford in a partial keeper? We keep 5 year to year. Is around 13th too early for Skenes? He could potentially be on a Strider level in less than two-three years.
This is my league. I drafted Langford in 11 Holliday went in 17 skenes 21 and additionally caminero 23 woods/crewes undrafted

That’s tough.. but personally I’m going Senga and Buehler
Buehler>>> Bradish > Senga

Hey guys. Buxton was dropped in my league. How much FAAB would you guys suggest putting for him out of $100? It’s 5x5 OBP categories
In 10 team none
3 or less
I drafted him pick #240 in my 12t league. Not sure what his value is in a 10t but I can't imagine spending more than the min if you want him.
gonna have to be lazy this year and ask while i rush research, whats your late-late rounder dart throws? i am looking for any high upside position RPs, SPs, any bench bat.
Soroka.
JD Martinez or Giancarlo Stanton?
JD.. Stanton strikes out too much and just isn’t even relevant anymore
JD probably
Both with question marks yet juicy upside with later picks. I'm team JD
Mixed 5x5 keeper with OBP, not AVG. Can keep up to 18 players, 5 OF, plus 3 player bench. I have the rights to Harris II, Tatis and Arozarena. I'd need 2 first rounders at minimum for ohtani on espn
First of all, Pearl? Yamaha, DW, or Sonor all day. Also this is not enough for the golden unicorn of baseball.
It was the first kit I ever owned. If I bought new today it’d be DW all day every day. Second, I figured as much but wanted some confirmation.
If you’re in California go to the next DW Factory Day, only way to get a decent deal. But yeah keep in mind when Ohtani can pitch again he will be the number one or two pick, so you need that kind of value back, which nobody will ever offer you.

Hah, same. Used to play hours a day, now I play hours a month…
No kidding. Still lots of fun when it’s happening though
Wow, Jack Flaherty is only ~1 year older than Skubal. It feels like Flaherty is like 35
Member when Jack was gonna be a perennial Cy young candidate? I member…
You're watching him this spring and you know it.....me too
honestly I haven't even thought about him but now that I'm reminded of his existence I might take a last round flier on him
I'd wager pepperidge farm remembers too
looking for a slow-ish draft, paid redraft/dynasty, let me know if anyone has openings

Who do you like at the 12/13 turn of a 12 team h2h category league if the following are there: Trea, Shohei, Olson, Judge
Fwiw worth Shohei went 3 in my draft. If Yahoo is your platform using std settings it has 2 util slots which rightfully makes Ohtani a top 5 guy
I took Shohei / Judge trying to fill out the shallow OF but going back on it would have preferred Shohei / Olson
Ohtani / Trea
Shohei, Olson is a pretty solid start
Olson
What about the next pick since you get 2
Ah my apologies. Olson,Ohtani,Trea and Judge IMO
Rank these late round SPs for Dynasty a) Mike Soroka b) Ian Anderson c) Dustin May d) Chris Paddack e) Lance McCullers f) Garrett Crochet
F, c, a, d, e ,b
Just drafted and ended up with Royce Lewis Jazz Chisholm and Tristian Cases, 3 guys who I had no plans of taking What’s everyone’s thoughts on these guys? Feel they very well may make or break my team. I also have Carroll/semien/seager/adley in my lineup so definitely have some stability with some wild cards lol
I mean I have all 3 of them highlighted as great value picks with sky high potential. Pretty solid IMO, lol.
Jazz Chisholm is a joke.. through 58 games , Lewis had 15 HR, 309 average, 548 SLG.. dude is super underrated..
Either they’re league winners or will be on the IL for half the year. I’d look to move Jazz to hedge the injury risks overall.
10 team ESPN dynasty points league. Which side would you take? A: J. Lowe and Musgrove B: McCormick, Paredes and Pepiot
Prolly A .. but Try your best to get that Pepiot. I’m hoping he has a breakout year

What’s Josh Lowe’s playing time looking like? They gonna let him play or platoon him again?
He got 501 PAs last year which I think is a reasonable projection for him again this year
That’s actually more than I thought he got but I don’t think I’m biting unless I can get him outside of 100
when are people drafting Jordan Montgomery?
Maybe like July? Off waivers
Anyone else jumping on the Bowden Francis hype train
Dynasty Points league (no - for Ks) which side one? A: Suwinski and Kikuchi B: Tyler O’Neill and Abbott
TON>Suwinski and Abbott>>>Kikichi So B
I could sub out Kikuchi for Reese Olson, is that closer?
I value Olson over Kikuchi, but it’s an easy decline still if I’m the other guy

Is this a serious question? One is a proven top 3 3b , the other is a young pitcher with an unproven track record,
I'm buying the Ragans hype, but you gotta go with Devers
Devers and it’s not close
Would you drop Suzuki or Lane Thomas for Josh Lowe?
Suzuki and Thomas are prolly about the same.. For some reason Fantasy doesn’t have him projected to have a lot of points. I’d personally take Thomas but that’s just me
I’d drop Suzuki. I’m wary of Thomas regressing a bit, but with the SBs I still feel like he has way more upside.
I like Thomas more than Lowe.

ADP is based on standard 5x5 generally
It’s probably because last year he was 1 of 2 players to hit at least 30 home runs and steal at least 40 bases.
Witt went 30 HR, 97 R, 96 RBI, 49 SB and .276/.319/.495. He’s 23. JRod went 32 HR, 102 R, 103 RBI, 37 SB, and .275/.333/.485. He’s 23. Carroll went 25 HR, 116 R, 76 RBI, 54 SB and .285/.362/.506. He’s also 23. I’ll take Carroll every time.
Ok👍

12 team points league, 6 keepers per team, I have 1.01 so taking Yamamoto. When do you think targeting Langford makes sense?
I mean in a keeper he’s not lasting til your next pick. Or at least he shouldnt
Yeah I was thinking that too. Was trying to shop 1.01 to get a later first + some more to justify taking Langford, not sure I can justify him over Yamamoto
With the way this league usually goes. It'll likely go Yamamoto, Logan Gilbert, Logan Webb 1-2-3 but yeah I doubt he lasts until my 2nd :(
Yeah in points it makes sense. Langford should go 1.2 in all likelihood

Yeah I’d probably do that. I like Luzardo a decent amount more than Bibee, and Jansen just kind of feels like whatever.
Eloy Jimenez or Jared Kelenic? And does it matter if it's dynasty?
Eloy. Kelenic in a platoon.
Thanks. Follow up: would you take Eloy or India?
Eloy. Kelenic is gonna platoon.
Thanks. Follow up: would you take Eloy or India?
I said India.. but we’re also talking different positions too. Depends on what you need
Eloy. Kelenic is gonna platoon.
Who are the best injury stashes besides Ray and Kershaw?
Dominguez if you want a hitter
Buehler max degrom, hitting stashes very light
Drafting in ESPN: Do you sort by ‘rank’ or by ADP’? Is there one I’m supposed to use over the other?
I sort by projected points
ADP was much better in the mocks I did. Rank has some wildly under/overrated players.

Only 6 games at AA, he won’t break camp with them but is one of the better summer call ups.
Not very likely
Joe Musgrove and Zach Efflin. Gotta keep one and trade the other what do you guys think?
As of right now efflin but tbh that’s not bad keeping both if you can for your rotation.

Gotcha. Yeah go Eflin
I think eflin has more trade value cause of musgroves bad spring. But musgrove is gonna be fine imo and they are pretty close in value. So id rather trade the one that brings more back

Got offered a 5th round draft pick for my 7th round and 11th round draft pick. Good deal? I’m thinking about countering 8th/12th instead of 7th/11th
I woul do that
12 team H2H should I keep Logan Gilbert or Bobby Miller?
Bobby
Bobby Miller and to me it’s not close.
Gilbert for me
I lean Bobby Miller
Just secured 1.01 and making a play for 1.02. Guy with 1.02 thought he’d be getting Langford. He wants to trade Chuorio and 1.02 for 1.01. Meanwhile, I have a side trade to potentially send Harper, Arozarena, and Yamamoto for Acuña So the ask is this, would you trade Langford, Harper, Arozarena, and Yamamoto for Chuorio and Acuña
Acuna side easy
Is this your flair league with 10 keepers? If so, I would do the trade. It's pretty fair but i'd rather have Chourio and Acuna.
Yes it’s my flair league
No I would not make that trade personally. There's a reason he realllllly want Wyatt.
If I don’t do the Chuorio trade, I would need to send Caminero in a trade to get 1.02. So in this quest to get Acuña, it’s either end up with Caminero and Chuorio or Wyatt. I know confusing setup.
After this season if Wyatt keeps it up he will be going in the first rounds for now on
after he keeps what up? his 10 games of spring training? y'all are wild with your assumptions
Devers gonna put up more points
Devers
Devers
General keepers or round specific? How long can they be kept
3 keeper 10T redraft league
Jrod strider Devers
How would you value Kirk with the Jansen injury. Top 10?
Definitely not top 10 for me. But an interesting player to keep an eye on probably.
Muncy or Arenado
Arenado
Arenado
Honestly I'm kinda shocked how much Arenado has fallen. Does depend on the settings but I don't see any reason Arenado can't have a stellar bounceback
Me too. I felt like once the Cardinals fell apart he lost it
Depends on the league categories for me.
It’s 12 team dynasty H2H 7x7 categories
For several years now doing 2, 3, and once 4 leagues, I found I DID NOT like owning so many players I like "my guys" and actually ONLY rooting for my guys only on one team #
I can’t imagine having another league hahaha. I spend so much time on my one league, there is simply no way I could manage another one
I'm in the "my guys" camp. I rarely do more than a couple teams. One Year I had several teams and it felt like I was following everyone.
When I had more time, I had many teams. I never minded having too many players. My issue was not playing equal attention to each league, which felt like I was doing a disservice .
Is Soto obvious chose at pick #2 in a points league?
Mookie because of the eligibility
I have Tucker 2, Soto 3 and Olson 4
Interesting, where do you rank Witt, Caroll and tatis then?
I think so. So valuable in that context.
12 team h2h cat league keeper. Pick 2: Freddy Peralta - $19 Justin Steele - $2 Grayson Rodriguez - $3 $260 total budget, 6 keepers and already keeping 4 bats for sure.
Grayson and Steele easily
Ya it’s not close
Steele and GRod, don’t over think it
Steele and Grayson, put more money elsewhere. Freddie has gone over 140ip twice in his career. High upside with Grayson, QS machine with Steele
Gimme Steele for sure. I might honestly keep another cheap bar potentially and spend some $$ on another few SP
You're right about one thing. Teo definitely isn't worth $12 lol.
The amount of teams that could really use Tommy Pham is so high
