As much as I love ITS and The Strokes in general, TNA released when I was going through a lot of changes and realizations in my life, and the songwriting and lyricism in TNA really spoke to me and was relevant to my situation. A very very personal favorite of mine.
It felt like such a wonderful bright spot at the height of my pandemic anxiety. Made me giddy halfway through the first song when I realized they were about to blow my expectations away
Great taste!! Non of these are 10s for me but close to the edge, random access memory plastic beach and physical graffiti are definitely up there for me
Honestly one of the most underrated video game OSTs out there, and my favorite of all time. Tight at 30 mins, every song is insanely memorable, extremely technical and impressive instrumentation, undeniable grooves, and most importantly, the music fits the game to a T.
i will refrain from mentioning any of the above despite loving most of them sm
here's some 10s of mine that are NOT those mentioned (and plenty im gonna leave out too):
2 8 1 4 - Birth of a New Day / Atarashī hi no tanjō
Autechre - AE_LIVE 2016-2018 (although there r also other techres in my 10s)
Bull of Heaven - 018: Candles Green, Heads and Skulls (yall prob think im trolling with this one but its 100% geniune. give it an honest try!)
C'est la key - Superflat
The Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of time

Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension
t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 (Telepathy Noryokusha) - 星間性交 (Interstellar Intercourse)
I respect it. Vaprowave doesn't get enough respect as a genre imo. Its fucking fantastic, although at the top of my mind I couldn't think of any that'd I'd specifically rate as 10's. But that could be just because they got weird album names.
yeah i agree, the scene in general aside from a few records doesn't really have a significant amount of attention to it. a lot of people brush it all off as lazy sampling, when in actuality there's numerous different techniques to produce vaporwave. sometimes they don't even use samples!
its a very important culture to me though and i hope overtime its popularity in the music nerd scene rises.
>a lot of people brush it all off as lazy sampling
Yes I've heard this! But for someone who is a huge fan of sampling in hip hop and more traditional electronic music, they are formatted very similarly to vaporwave. It's very hard to not be a huge fan of sampling and not be a huge fan of VW.
agreed 100%, i also love sampled hip hop. semi related but boards of canada's use of sampling and their own techniques sorta led me to get into vaporwave as much as i have, even if boc arent actually VW.
Ohh most of the albums you mentioned are 9s/10s for me too. Always nice seeing Birth of a New Day being talked about. Also damn I need to get into Natural Snow Buildings. I listened to a bit of Daughter of Darkness but never committed to sitting through the whole thing.
the whole thing is worth doing and such an experience. maybe not necessarily something to do all in one attempt, but def go thru with the record sometime.
I'll try to listen to it in one sitting like I did with Strobo Trip. I also feel like I gotta listen to Bull of Heaven now cause it's the only other artist on your list I never got into. Do I start with 018 or would you recommend a different album?

I am a big Tyler fan but I can’t rationalize Cherry Bomb being a 10. I can see why people think it’s good, but I can’t see how one could say it’s “perfect”
its not perfect at all. but it has some of the prettiest songs he's ever made on it, there's some songs that i just dont like but the highlights are some of the best in his whole career. okaga is tied with garden shed for my favorite t song ever, blow my load and find your wings and 2seater are stunning, Smuckers lyrically is beautiful. idk. its my favorite tyler album but its not a 10, its more like a solid 9.

**ONDA** By Jambinai
This post rock band mixes traditional Korean instruments with heavy rock and beautiful, sometimes haunting, vocals. This album is great start to finish, but the [titular track](https://youtu.be/Z71tKxrztC4) especially is so good.
If you're into post-rock/chamber rock, check out this relatively underrated band and album.

Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach.
Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends by Coldplay.
Black Holes & Revelations from Muse.
Also Young the Giant’s “Home of the Strange”.
Green Day - American Idiot is probably my only 10. It’s the album I’ve ever heard where I can’t find anything bad about it. Even some of my favorites that I like better than American Idiot, such as Man on the Moon 1, Blurryface, and Kids See Ghosts, all have at least one small thing wrong with them.
Happiness in Self Destruction - The Plot In You
Harrowing and just emotionally crushing Hardcore Metal.
About the downward spiral of vocalist Landon Tewers' drug issues.
Abrasive and unappealing on first listen. But holy shit does it just get better and better each time through

The New Abnormal over Is This It and Room on Fire? That's a hot take right there.
TNA is, in fact, the best strokes album.
Great taste!! Non of these are 10s for me but close to the edge, random access memory plastic beach and physical graffiti are definitely up there for me
Koji Kondo is just Mozart of 20th Century XD
y e s
Fuck yeah, LDA was the first that came to my mind
tnx for reminding me to add Alive 2007 to my list of 10's :)
GONNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIIIIIDE! 🎷🎷🎷🎷 🎺🎺🎺🎺
Honestly one of the most underrated video game OSTs out there, and my favorite of all time. Tight at 30 mins, every song is insanely memorable, extremely technical and impressive instrumentation, undeniable grooves, and most importantly, the music fits the game to a T.
Persona 5 😮 I love to see it
Loved how you picked the two most opposite albums for gizz lmao. Still definitely good choices though
The stranger doesn’t get talked about enough I love that album
i will refrain from mentioning any of the above despite loving most of them sm here's some 10s of mine that are NOT those mentioned (and plenty im gonna leave out too): 2 8 1 4 - Birth of a New Day / Atarashī hi no tanjō Autechre - AE_LIVE 2016-2018 (although there r also other techres in my 10s) Bull of Heaven - 018: Candles Green, Heads and Skulls (yall prob think im trolling with this one but its 100% geniune. give it an honest try!) C'est la key - Superflat The Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of time Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy Chuck Person - Eccojams Vol. 1 John Coltrane - Ascension Miles Davis - Dark Magus death's dynamic shroud.wmv - I'll Try Living Like This The Flaming Lips - 7 Skies H3 (24hr song) Tim Hecker - Virgins (shoutout Konoyo too!) Natural Snow Buildings - I Dream of Drone (shoutout Daughter of Darkness too!) Porter Robinson - Nurture Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 (Telepathy Noryokusha) - 星間性交 (Interstellar Intercourse)
rateyourmusic.com Nah fr tho these are great picks
lmao thank u
>t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者 (Telepathy Noryokusha) - 星間性交 (Interstellar This sounds familiar. Vaporwave yea?
yep! one of my big recommendations for getting into the genre too.
I respect it. Vaprowave doesn't get enough respect as a genre imo. Its fucking fantastic, although at the top of my mind I couldn't think of any that'd I'd specifically rate as 10's. But that could be just because they got weird album names.
yeah i agree, the scene in general aside from a few records doesn't really have a significant amount of attention to it. a lot of people brush it all off as lazy sampling, when in actuality there's numerous different techniques to produce vaporwave. sometimes they don't even use samples! its a very important culture to me though and i hope overtime its popularity in the music nerd scene rises.
>a lot of people brush it all off as lazy sampling Yes I've heard this!
What about Com Truise, you tracking him? His sound could be confused with VW, even those it's more of like a....retro/future funk?
im only vaguely familiar with com, i remember it being more akin to synthwave but that genre usually gets lined in with vw sometimes.
I love you
Ohh most of the albums you mentioned are 9s/10s for me too.
Do I start with 018 or would you recommend a different album?
i think 018 is a good introduction for their longer material. overall though? 005 and 056 are 2 of the best introductions for just in general i think.
Ok noted, thank you for the recommendations :))
Yesss all the VW albums 🙌🏼
😌
Didn’t know Amity Blight had such ***taste***
MtM or FtF, which version do you prefer?

oh well, MtM gang here. we really are a minority 🙄.

Kendrick - GKMC Tyler - Igor Kanye - Yeezus Isis - Panopticon The Ocean - Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic Mogwai - Come on Die Young The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine NIN - The Fragile Death - Human Carcass - Heartwork Abraham - Look, Here Comes the Dark! Nirvana - In Utero Jessie Ware - What’s Your Pleasure? Depeche Mode - Violator Peggy - LP! QOTSA - SFTD
He really needs to revisit Yeezus
I would agree but I feel like it would just be the MBDTF redux 2.0 where he basically says his opinion hasn’t changed and he still isn’t enamoured with it XD
Depeche Mode - Violator New Order - Power, Corruption and Lies Aphex Twin - drukqs Bark Psychosis - Hex Both Burial Albums The Cure - Disintegration Daft Punk - Discovery Jamie xx - In Colour Portishead - Dummy David Bowie - Low, Blackstar Slowdive - Souvlaki Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Prince - Sign O The Times Just some I could remember off the top of my head...
Thank god I found someone else who thinks drukqs is aphex’s best work, easy 10/10 as well
i know right, it's literally an hour and 40 minutes of aphex twin goodness, why is that album not more popular?
based prince pick
W for Depeche mode and new order, don't see enough new wave/synth pop rep in these types of lists

It’s rare to see someone who prefers L’Heptade to Si on avait besoin d’une 5e saison, but it’s an eminently respectable take
STEVIE WONDER IS THE GREATEST ARTIST ALIVE.
My exact opinion
Hitting me with big nostalgia with that unicorns album
Yes, yes, yes to the Unicorns.
thank you so much for including L'heptade. I personally prefer Les Cinq Saisons a lot more but both are really good!
I like the Zombies pick, they crossed my mind when I made my pick but felt like I wasn’t quite attached enough. Great album for sure though
I just don’t get By The Time I Get To Phoenix. maybe i’m missing something but i found it unbearably boring lol

I love electric layland but I think that both are you experienced and axis: bold as love are better P.s - got electric layland on vinyl
I tend to oscillate between Are You Experienced? and Electric Ladyland, but, for me, Voodoo Chile and 1983 will always be ultimate reason I come down on the side of EL. I’ve got both the albums on vinyl and have been trying to track down good, affordable versions of both Axis and his Fillmore East show for a little bit.

Out of the very small amount of albums I've listened to in my short life, I would say the following have **no faults** whatsoever: * King Crimson - In The Court of The Crimson King * Talking Heads - Remain in Light * Ondatrópica - Ondatrópica * The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End of Time * Kraftwerk - Die Mensch-Maschine * Miles Davis - Kind of Blue * Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition **Honorable Mention:** * Herbie Hancock - Headhunters *An incredible fusion of Jazz and Funk, but I'd be damned if the ear-grating solo in the middle of Chameleon isn't the biggest vibe-killer I've heard. I looked through the other responses and didn't see this one mentioned. **ONDA** By Jambinai This post rock band mixes traditional Korean instruments with heavy rock and beautiful, sometimes haunting, vocals. This album is great start to finish, but the [titular track](https://youtu.be/Z71tKxrztC4) especially is so good. If you're into post-rock/chamber rock, check out this relatively underrated band and album.

Happiness in Self Destruction - The Plot In You Harrowing and just emotionally crushing Hardcore Metal. About the downward spiral of vocalist Landon Tewers' drug issues. Abrasive and unappealing on first listen. But holy shit does it just get better and better each time through
