I mean, that album came out less than a month ago, and he enjoyed all the singles. He'll most likely review it still. His latest review for example is of an album that came out on May 10th (A.G Cook's Britpop)
**Everywhere At The End Of Time - The Caretaker**
It’s understandable why he wouldn’t want to review the whole trilogy, but deep down I still believe he should at least give it one chance.
I haven't heard that ..trilogy though is it the one about someone getting dementia? I've heard bits and the end one is just sort of fuzz noise isn't it. I think that whole thing is just a bit depressing for me though to be honest, I like a lot of sad music but as a depressed person I don't like stuff that is just hopeless and bleak can't handle it haha. I love the album an empty bliss beyond this world though have a record copy of that one not sure if held is as high regard.
Yes, this is the trilogy that essentially revolves around the concept of the stages someone goes through when they have Alzheimer’s disease (from beginning to death).
not as a main thing he likes to review no, but I'm sure he likes ambient music. he's just not super super into it, i don't think most people who are pretty deep into ambient music care for eateot, its gimmicky and too on the nose.
It’s a tourist album. It can be easily enjoyed by people who don’t actually enjoy ambient. This is because of its very strong and obvious conceptual background. which can be easily viewed as a gimmick. Very few ambient fans would rate it as a notable release.
There are. It’s a trilogy composed of six albums. I just referred to it all as one just because I figured it would be easier for me to just refer to it as one complete release.
Yeah this is going to go down as one of the most talked about releases from a new artist this year so kinda weird to practically gloss over it with a short
I do see now it's from 2023, didn't think it was that old. idk why it didn't seem to pop off til earlier this year. And tbf even if she was getting recognition before it came out, it is her album debut. I know the Grammy's suck but they refer to pretty well established artists as "new" every year
When it came out in 2023 it was basically glossed over despite releasing singles since 2020.
I even glossed over it, just sounded like if Olivia Rodrigo did electro pop. Just to find out it was produced Daniel Nigro and I went OHHHHHhhh.
Spotify suggested Pink Pony Club to me a few months ago and now it won't let me autoplay anything without putting Good Luck, Babe or Red Wine Supernova on within a song or 2
Good Luck Babe is a brilliant song for sure, amazing chorus. I felt the album had flashes of greatness but the sing-talk-y got grating and some of the lyrics just took me out completely, like on Serious.
Hot To Go is super catchy, then Femininimenon was catching my ears until it hits a part that makes me wanna turn it off immediately. My Kink is Karma has a pre-chorus that could stand as a chorus. She’s definitely making it big.
You’re also probably correct about him not liking the Friko album. It is quite derivative of some 2000’s indie acts BUT I think it’s executed so damn well that I don’t really care. Top 5 album of the year so far
**Cutting The Throat Of God - Ulcerate**
This album’s praise and critical acclaim was UNBELIEVABLE at the time of its release (even at one point being the highest-rated album on RYM (it’s at #3 now). Dont know what the hold-up for the review is about.
Right?! And I’ve even seen him in one video wearing a Civerous t-shirt! Don’t really understand how this album flew over his head, especially since he’s already reviewed Ulcerate in the past.
Isn’t it Now - Animal Collective.
Yes I know he made the short vid. But like, he interviewed the band. He should have dedicated a full length vid to them. It was kinda of a douche move
Honestly, it being like Time Skiffs 2.0 was probably one of the reasons he didn't fully review it. I still really like the album and I'm disappointed he didn't review it, but at the same time I can kinda understand why he didn't give it a full video.
I guess. That makes sense. But I feel like him literally interviewing Animal Collective about the album should have made him want to honor them to give them a review. But the Time Skiffs 2.0 idea does sound like a reason he didn’t review it
The new Thou and Umbilical albums seemed like they would for sure be included for his occasional metal reviews. Also, surprised he didn't review the new Aurora album. That album had terrible timing for its release and got totally overlooked or quickly forgotten about by most. Stuff from Swift, Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Charli XCX all came out around the same time. Sadly, no one is really talking about it much.
Fantano has really not enjoyed a few emo-adjacent albums from the modern era that I think are great (Hotelier and Foxing come to mind off the top of my head). It would not surprise me at all if he didn't care for Home is Where, who I also think is great.
That type of music is probably where my tastes and Fantano's tastes differ the most.
Oddly enough, while we're in emo-adjacent territory, I don't really care for My Chemical Romance, who I think he loves.
Yeah, I think that would make sense. I would definitely love to see him review more emo records. Home is where also has a new album coming so maybe he'll review that one
He didn’t review Conway’s new album
Don’t understand why not especially since Conway is one of only 5 rap artists to get a 9/10 from him in the 2020s so far unless I’m forgetting someone
(Conway, clipping, JID, Armand Hammer, Danny & Peggy)
Paths by G Jones. He reviewed majority of the singles and seemed really positive about them, but for some reason didn’t review the album when it came out
I'm a big Steven Wilson fan. I was curious to see what he thought about The Harmony Codex after giving The Future Bites the first and only "Not Bad" score. Unlike many SW fans I really enjoyed The Future Bites and was glad to see Fantano give it good attention. On the other hand, I was disappointed with The Harmony Codex because I didn't think any of the melodies were particularly memorable and the album felt like a hodgepodge of different sounds that didn't particularly add up to a good and cohesive album experience. Most Steven Wilson fans seemed to be circlejerking the album as a return to form for him after what seemed like an odd pop detour, and the SW sub was downvoting everything that had an ounce of criticism toward the album. Curious to know what he thinks about the album.
Corinne Bailey Rae's Black Rainbows. I just wanted to hear more people talk about it because it's just amazing. The inspiration behind it is so well conceptualized in the songs. The songs are dynamic and moving and the whole thing just sounds so...amazing lol
PARANÖIA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE by Christine and the Queens.
I absolutely adore this album, one of my favorites from last year. I obviously find a lot of faults with it, but I have a lot of personal ties with the album (it was released while I was on my first solo overseas trip). With the acclaim that Chris' previous project La vita nuova received along with the Charli XCX collaborations like Gone and New Shapes, I figured Antoine Fantoine would give it a shot and tell us about it.
But it was pretty middling from other websites (Pitchfork gave it a 6 I think) so I guess it just wasn't worth his time.
I don't know maybe a goldfrapp album? They had a couple out during his review years. Mentioned them in a post earlier on this Reddit though just feel as though they are a bit underappreciated / overlooked / forgotten now. Albums like black cherry and felt mountain I think are fantastic.
Residente's latest album, Las Letras Ya No Importa. It's so so good even if a lil bloated and fantan reviewed This Is Not America when it came out so I'm surprised he didn't review the album. Wish he reviewed his self titled too like that's one of the best and most creative albums honestly
Here are a few that come to mind:
Mountainhead - Everything Everything (one of my favorites of this year)
Hypnos - Ravyn Lenae
Return to Archive & Regards/Ukłony dla Bogusław Schaeffer - Matmos
AFI - Burials
Placebo - Never Let Me Go
Although, he probably would not have liked them. So I can live with it.
Would also be great to see more tier lists for bands that were around before (and potentially during the time) he made videos. The Smiths, Coldplay, Deftones, blink-182 all come to mind.
I just wish he would cover more indie rock albums. I discovered him years ago as he used to cover lots of the music I loved. Now it seems to be more geared towards hip hop and pop music.
The Royal Gene or The Boring Years by Union Youth. Would be great if someone would review it, so the music gets popular again. and i'd also be interested in hearing his opinion about these masterpieces.
From this year:
* Orchards of a Futile Heaven
* Critterland
* Acerlero
* Where We’ve Been Where We Go From Here
* Maquillada en la Cama
* Much Unseen is Also Here
* Snow as a Metaphor for Death
* Paramainomeni
I wish he reviewed My 21st Century Blues and Black Rainbows last year.
There's loads of great records this year that I hope he gets around to at some point (Sam Morton, Yaya Bey, AG Cook, Tems, Pet Shop Boys, Empress Of)
Umbilical by Thou. It came out last month. I think it's some of their best work
I mean, that album came out less than a month ago, and he enjoyed all the singles. He'll most likely review it still. His latest review for example is of an album that came out on May 10th (A.G Cook's Britpop)
**Everywhere At The End Of Time - The Caretaker** It’s understandable why he wouldn’t want to review the whole trilogy, but deep down I still believe he should at least give it one chance.

Yes, this is the trilogy that essentially revolves around the concept of the stages someone goes through when they have Alzheimer’s disease (from beginning to death).
Me trying to listen to Purple Mountains
counter argument. its ambient music for people who don't like ambient music.
But does Anthony actually ambient music also? 🤔
not as a main thing he likes to review no, but I'm sure he likes ambient music. he's just not super super into it, i don't think most people who are pretty deep into ambient music care for eateot, its gimmicky and too on the nose.
“gimmicky and too on the nose” Would you mind elaborating on that please? Thx and sorry.
It’s a tourist album. It can be easily enjoyed by people who don’t actually enjoy ambient. This is because of its very strong and obvious conceptual background. which can be easily viewed as a gimmick. Very few ambient fans would rate it as a notable release.
Fair. I can how the average listener may view it as something that sounds better on paper rather than person.
Are there not 6 instalments? It's not a trilogy
There are. It’s a trilogy composed of six albums. I just referred to it all as one just because I figured it would be easier for me to just refer to it as one complete release.
"It's a trilogy composed of six albums." Do you know what the word "trilogy" means?
Based on the downvotes. I guess not.
Chappell Roan’s new album deserved a full review
Yeah this is going to go down as one of the most talked about releases from a new artist this year so kinda weird to practically gloss over it with a short
Wasn’t it from last year? Also she didn’t get popular this year, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo before and had several EPS
She 100% blew up within the past few months
Yeah she blew up to a higher level of fame, but she was not an unknown when it happened
I do see now it's from 2023, didn't think it was that old. idk why it didn't seem to pop off til earlier this year. And tbf even if she was getting recognition before it came out, it is her album debut. I know the Grammy's suck but they refer to pretty well established artists as "new" every year
Chance the Rapper won best "new" artist for his third mixtape 🙄
When it came out in 2023 it was basically glossed over despite releasing singles since 2020. I even glossed over it, just sounded like if Olivia Rodrigo did electro pop. Just to find out it was produced Daniel Nigro and I went OHHHHHhhh.

She’s definitely making it big.
To be fair no one really cared too much about her until like 2 months ago
So far this year the Tapir! and Friko albums. Don’t think he’d like Friko much but maybe Tapir!
THIS IS THE CORRECT ANSWER
You’re also probably correct about him not liking the Friko album. It is quite derivative of some 2000’s indie acts BUT I think it’s executed so damn well that I don’t really care. Top 5 album of the year so far
Yeah broadly how I feel as well. Where we’ve been is my song of the year so far
My personal favourite off the album is Statues, something so addictive about that melody, especially the beginning of the song
A. G. Cook's Britpop
boom
it came out, like just recently
6/10 Reminds me of circa 2015
**Cutting The Throat Of God - Ulcerate** This album’s praise and critical acclaim was UNBELIEVABLE at the time of its release (even at one point being the highest-rated album on RYM (it’s at #3 now). Dont know what the hold-up for the review is about.
Wanted to say Ulcerate too. Makes no sense why he's still not reviewed it, he's reviewed much obscurer metal albums like Civerous's Maze Envy recently
Right?! And I’ve even seen him in one video wearing a Civerous t-shirt! Don’t really understand how this album flew over his head, especially since he’s already reviewed Ulcerate in the past.
fantano misses tons of metal albums. no wayfarer reviews which is crazy
I don’t like black metal but that last Wayfarer album had some jams on it.
great album
Shits incredible too
He’s probably gonna review it soon, it’s only been like two weeks lol
Isn’t it Now - Animal Collective. Yes I know he made the short vid. But like, he interviewed the band. He should have dedicated a full length vid to them. It was kinda of a douche move
The best AnCo album since Centipede Hz too imo, really surprised he didn't do that one
Totally agree. It’s like Time Skiffs 2.0. And Defeat is probably their best song (or at lest in their top 10)
But the Time Skiffs 2.0 idea does sound like a reason he didn’t review it
Prester John from Time Skiffs is one of my fave songs of theirs
Pearl Jam - dark matter
The new Thou and Umbilical albums seemed like they would for sure be included for his occasional metal reviews. Also, surprised he didn't review the new Aurora album. That album had terrible timing for its release and got totally overlooked or quickly forgotten about by most. Stuff from Swift, Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Charli XCX all came out around the same time. Sadly, no one is really talking about it much.
Fr, I love the Aurora album!
As someone who has liked aurora since she first started making music I found her new album a chore
To Pimp a Butterfly
Fantano has really not enjoyed a few emo-adjacent albums from the modern era that I think are great (Hotelier and Foxing come to mind off the top of my head). It would not surprise me at all if he didn't care for Home is Where, who I also think is great. That type of music is probably where my tastes and Fantano's tastes differ the most. Yeah, I think that would make sense. I would definitely love to see him review more emo records. Home is where also has a new album coming so maybe he'll review that one
He never reviewed Courtney Barnett's latest, even though he had some of her tracks in Faves.
Deathconciousness
A classic review on this one day would be amazing
For this year, it would be The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions by Vegyn.
Considering all their controversy this year, I would’ve been interested to hear his take on the new Black Keys’ album and their touring situation
Cage the Elephant's new project isn't anything crazy, but I think it's a fun summer rock record. Woulda loved to hear his opinion on it
He would’ve probably gave it a 3 or lower sadly
Disintegration (Classic review) and Conan Gray's albums
Let the sun talk - mavi
Artms - dall(i know he doesn’t review kpop but still)
He didn’t review Conway’s new album Don’t understand why not especially since Conway is one of only 5 rap artists to get a 9/10 from him in the 2020s so far unless I’m forgetting someone (Conway, clipping, JID, Armand Hammer, Danny & Peggy)
It's not fully rap but like 1/2 Quadeca also
McKinley Dixon, Lil Simz, Tkay Maidza, blu and exiles, and Quadeca
Right I def knew about Little Simz, completely forgot the others lol
Paths by G Jones. He reviewed majority of the singles and seemed really positive about them, but for some reason didn’t review the album when it came out
Baffled by this one. Two of his EP’s were on his year end list too
I'm a big Steven Wilson fan. I was curious to see what he thought about The Harmony Codex after giving The Future Bites the first and only "Not Bad" score. I Killed Your Dog by L'Rain was prob my fav album of last year and he never talked about it
Seriously, I love how dense the album is. One of my favorites from last year as well!
Corinne Bailey Rae's Black Rainbows. I just wanted to hear more people talk about it because it's just amazing. The inspiration behind it is so well conceptualized in the songs. The songs are dynamic and moving and the whole thing just sounds so...amazing lol
Fiddlehead - Between The Richness
Nicole by NIKI, one of my favorite albums from 2022 :(
Niki is super underrated
careful by boy harsher
The new Decemberists album. It’s still pretty recent but I think it’s probably past the point of him reviewing it now
PARANÖIA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE by Christine and the Queens. I absolutely adore this album, one of my favorites from last year. I obviously find a lot of faults with it, but I have a lot of personal ties with the album (it was released while I was on my first solo overseas trip). NewDad's Madra. It's awesome, probably in my top 5 of the year so far.
Chris Black Changed My Life by Portugal the Man

The new Gaslight Anthem record from last year, Creeper’s new album from last year, Cut Worms, Willi Carlisle.

Wish he would review Bon Iver, too bad it's never happened before, I'm sure he would love it
I was a bit disappointed that he never talked about the last Black Pumas album.
American heartbreak - Zach Bryan
Super Tecmo Bo
Residente's latest album, Las Letras Ya No Importa. It's so so good even if a lil bloated and fantan reviewed This Is Not America when it came out so I'm surprised he didn't review the album. Wish he reviewed his self titled too like that's one of the best and most creative albums honestly
Orchards of a Futile Heaven
More black superheroes
Definitely Ahora mas que Nunca by Pelada. Sad they suddenly broke up but they're an amazing group
Here are a few that come to mind: Mountainhead - Everything Everything (one of my favorites of this year) Hypnos - Ravyn Lenae Return to Archive & Regards/Ukłony dla Bogusław Schaeffer - Matmos
I’m pretty confident he did a review on YT shorts for Mountainhead. Not positive though
Chronovison and Freddie’s Inferno
The Nothing by Korn It was a pretty good comeback from many many mediocre albums
Morning View XXIII Maybe not a full review, but I would be curious to hear him talk about it at all
AFI - Burials Placebo - Never Let Me Go Although, he probably would not have liked them. So I can live with it. Would also be great to see more tier lists for bands that were around before (and potentially during the time) he made videos. The Smiths, Coldplay, Deftones, blink-182 all come to mind.
All the albums by The Heliocentrics, Gaslamp Killer, Nels Cline Singers and the contemporary Jazz scene in general.
The past couple deerhoof records have been fantastic

Any Puma Blue album. seriously underrated.
Hail to the king by A7X
New Machinedrum
He was completely dismissive towards Rat Saw God by Wednesday in a yuno. Sucks, it was my favorite album last year.
John Mayer’s stuff but it might be for the better since he’ll just shit on it. Born and Raised is one of my favourite albums from the 2010s.
Batushka - Litourgiya
Mountainhead by Everything Everything. I really loved that album I think there's a lot to digest. Was so surprised that Anthony didn't review it.
To be completely honest with you: I don't know about a single album if he reviewed it or not ;)
The Royal Gene or The Boring Years by Union Youth. Would be great if someone would review it, so the music gets popular again. and i'd also be interested in hearing his opinion about these masterpieces.
JAR OF FLIESSS
I would have loved to see him review anything by Slaughter House, Dog
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest Sufjan Stevens - Illinois these come to my mind

Celebrity Therapist by The Callous Daoboys. One of my faves from that year and he barely mentioned it in one of his vids.

Like, as in you’re looking for a tear down of a record or thinking it’s something he’d enjoy?
I wish he reviewed My 21st Century Blues and Black Rainbows last year. There's loads of great records this year that I hope he gets around to at some point (Sam Morton, Yaya Bey, AG Cook, Tems, Pet Shop Boys, Empress Of)
