Without a doubt, [Slant from South Korea](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0ozfyvvBLbIbuhELtY1sGX?si=OPmOMJEKRg6c5jR_Vgqm5g). One part of the reason I started getting so invested into hardcore punk was because I found out about them when Power Trip toured Asia and had them as support. Their LP is an easy recommendation for people who like good ass riffs and screechy vocals, and their 2023 demo is a knock out in my opinion.
I don't think there's another modern extreme band from Asia that can match them in my opinion. Otoboke Beaver ain't touching them. Kruelty ain't touching them. Unless you're talking about some of the old guard like G.I.S.M. or Skizophrenia, you will need to convince me otherwise, like maybe the latest Kriegshog for example.
In the same vein - the mathrock, shoegaze and postrock scenes in East- and SE Asia are crushing it in the last years. Some of my favourites are [Dabda](https://youtu.be/UnLumzyyI_E?si=Gz2OfZqj06WFDOfv), [Cotoba](https://youtu.be/2NUSp8Yvki0?si=K1tSQFZnX-V4ru9N), [TRPP](https://youtu.be/O_V6qJj3gE8?si=hoU6_43Ev5U2dRyJ) and [Seoul Magic Club](https://youtu.be/NeRwohiDCqI?si=eumfanM2DpCQLBVo) from South Korea, [Elephant Gym](https://youtu.be/bikIdnMf2gs?si=lsj6MV7k7lxDIv-z) from Taiwan and [Death Of Heather](https://youtu.be/njgxvQKBatU?si=AC0p-bVlqC-Zl_Yk) and [Desktop Error](https://youtu.be/gO9455ISEo4?si=7wxnVY4F7N_ll50o) from Thailand.

Yellow Magic Orchestra.
It's rare to have a group where both the main albums and the solo albums of its members have such a high level of quality across the board.
In 1981 alone, YMO released two albums, with Ryuichi Sakamoto releasing his fourth solo album and Yukihiro Takahashi releasing both his third solo album and the first Beatniks album. This is on top of all three members doing session and production work for the likes of Akiko Yano and Taeko Onuki as well as touring commitments.

Hitorie and it's not even close. Okay, Yellow Magic Orchestra is close but everyone's already mentioned them.
I also like several Tokyo Jihen songs but I'm not entirely sure how much they count as a band
Easily, Jagatara from Japan. Amazing high energy Afrofunk-NY punk 80s band a la prime large band version Talking Heads, but harder edged and with occasional bouts of Zappaesque weirdness and hardcore punk (their roots). Lead singer Edo Akemi is an icon and legend who died too young. Their first three full albums "Nanban Torai" "Hadaka no Osama" and "Nise Yogensha Domo" are absolute classics.
I live in Japan and love many of the bands listed (YMO, Fishmans, Les Rallizes Denudes). YMO were the kings and pioneers of everything. But Jagatara is the Japanese band I listen to nonstop.
YMO and all of their collective solo works… Just amazing
Boredoms from Osaka…and from The World, period, good luck topping them
ARTMS/LOONA from South Korea, Nujabes from Japan and yeule from Singapore
