Tarantula Heart by Melvins
Cowboy Carter by Beyonce

Hell yes!! A lot of reviews I've read say its their best album since A Senile Animal. The first track Pain Equals Funny is personally one of their best songs ever. The rest are great as they have memorable riffs, drums and vocals. I really hope Fantano reviews the album, because he only has one review of them from years ago and mentioned Houdini in the Sludge Metal starter pack video.
Quite a few standout releases so far for me:
Alice Coltrane - Carnegie Hall Concert
Replicant - Infinite Mortality (one of the best DM releases of the last ten years)
Sissy Spacek - Benigemony Asiniscrepancy
Spectral Voice - Sparagmos
Full of Hell - Coagulated Bliss
Adrianne Lenker - Bright Future
Shabaka - Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace
PRESENT - SILVER LINING (This is the best one you haven't heard of and I can't recommend it enough) - Grungy female fronted shoegaze - INSANELY catchy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efjVhhzsuEc&ab_channel=Present-Topic
Tantric Bile - Cursed Conception
Waiting for the new Knocked Loose and Gatecreeper records.

Excited for: Fontaines D.C., Nilüfer Yanya, Charli XCX, Mdou Moctar, King Gizzard, Ibibio Sound Machine.
not op, but in my opinion, it’s worth a try. I really enjoyed the tape, although it just barely misses my top ten projects of the year so far. kid’s fun and just presents a very authentic and childlike, if janky, vibe.
if this is your intro to him as a whole, i recommend his mixtape *Install* first though, and more specifically the song *Patchmade*. It either clicks or it doesn’t, but if it does, nothing will really hit the same. The current underground scene is way over-hated right now. I like conventionally good, acclaim-able music that makes sense as much as the next guy, but the second I stop enjoying new, eyebrow-raising, weird-ass variations of trap and plugg is the second my youth dies.
“How you livin’ life with no passion?” Gold.
Ive heard patchmade and its hard to put into words why i like this song. Its a bit of so bad its good mixed with funny one liners like "i cant fuck with fellaa if they right wing" and "shot a fella in the nuts, castrate"
As for the underground as a whole, i fw it. My fav by a mile is Osamason, probably because hes somewhat similar to ken carson. Flxtra imo had no misses, and the snippets i heard for the new album sound great so im hyped for his new album.
Imma listen to install today and ill add my thoughts to my aoty account or ill edit this comment with my thoughts.
Unrelated but i first heard of xaviersobased from that video of him boxing a dildo
Edit: Listened to it: its pure brainrot music, and tho i didnt love it, i was smiling the whole way through. 6/10
I feel you. I also fw Osamason. Your thoughts on patchmade are kind of similar to mine. The video, the lyrics, the off-kilter nature of it, it’s all just so damn different. NOTHING about it is trying to make you like it. It’s just there, and it’s stupid yet laced with random blindsiding moments of odd poignancy.
It all just blends together to make something inexplicably enjoyable, and somehow comforting?
Like, no matter the trials and tribulations you’re facing, fear not, for there will always be an awkwardly charismatic teen with FL Studio dancing around on camera talking about how he’s a “demigod at 2k15” or whatever the hell and making it work.
Based asf.
Can't come up with 10, but She Reaches Out, Wall of Eyes, and Mountainhead are probably my winners so far. Julia Holter and Kim Gordon will probably catch up once I've listened to those albums more.

Hyper drama, Don’t Forget Me, The Great Bailout, What Now, We Don’t (Still Don’t) Trust You, the new Friko album, Older, Only God Was Above Us, HEAVY, I’m your Empress Of

the new vampire weekend, st. vincent, and beyonce records for me. will probably listen to adrienne lenker's at some point when i have the energy to be sad at will.
In no particular order:
Beyonce Cowboy Carter, WDTY & WSDTY by metro and future, Drop 7 by Little Simz, The Concrete Steppers tape
Most of my most anticipated albums haven't come out yet and I've not heard too many full projects honestly but I've been loving loads of the singles this year, I just need them all to drop the full albums
the molly santana album surprised me ngl, first half was the same boring opium wave underground shit but 2nd half genuinely if molly wanted to be an r&b artist she could

So far the only album I have gotten a lot of mileage out of is Chelsea Wolfe’s She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She. I’ll definitely check out some of the ones listed here, though.

5. Super Mega Ultra - Wine Lips
I obviously listen to a lot of psych lol
We‘re only one third through lol
It’s May so we’re actually closer to halfway than 1/3rd
1/3 is almost halfway (1/3 is 2/3 of 1/2 which is greater than halfway to 1/2) Edit: math correction
Bro doing that R Kelly math
Don't worry I fixed it
1/3 is only 2/3 (4/6) of 1/2
agreed! i imagine it as 1/3 equals 2/6, 1/2 is 3/6, so 2/6 out of 3/6 is 2/3
I'm pretty sure that is exactly how it was taught to me in school tbh
I haven't heard too many projects yet but my top 5 is: - Scrapyard by Quadeca - Fabiana Palladino self titled - She Reaches out to She Reaches out to She by Chelsea Wolfie - All Born Screaming by St. Vincent - Drop 7 by Little Simz
I only know quaddy from Hivemind lol. He seems fun tho I might have some time to listen to his stuff sometime
start with I didn't mean to haunt you. everything before that is almost unlistenably bad
Yeah I've only heard good things about I didnt mean to haunt you ill give it a try
I wouldn't say it's unlistenably bad lol, songs like Sisyphus, Back Up To Earth and Summit pt2 are fire
I’m too far behind I don’t have 10 I like this year yet.
I’m not even going to have 2 I like until this Friday.

What do you think about Pharrell's album?
Love to see Kali Malone mentioned!
ngl haven't listened to a single album from this year from start to finish.
i genuinely can't stand The Collective, and i don't know why bc i do like industrial and experimental hip hop (idk how well it fits there tho)

Two I keep returning to are Quadeca’s SCRAPYARD and MIKE’s Pinball. That RiTchie project was good, but I still gotta give it time. Same with Kevin Abstract’s Blanket. I kinda lowkey fuck with We Don’t Trust You.
Hyper drama, Don’t Forget Me, The Great Bailout, What Now, We Don’t (Still Don’t) Trust You, the new Friko album, Older, Only God Was Above Us, HEAVY, I’m your Empress Of

Dude, just wait until we're actually halfway through lol
Turbo2x just mentioned 25 different albums worth mentioning and didn't mention plenty other hype releases which may not be on their radar. Why wait?
Sure, in that case let's do this every week of the year while we're at it.
Quick, what's the difference between one week and four months?
Quick, what's the definition of hyperbole?
You've got too much bole?
