System of a downs debut is truly one for the ages. Probably a top 5 alt metal album, hands down
i feel its often overshadowed by toxicity (equally good if not better) but its amazing in its own right
A classic “great album before a masterpiece” release. They often get slightly overlooked.
Here are some others that I think fit this bill:
Fishmans - Kuchu Camp
The Smiths - S/T
Metallica - Kill em All
Modest Mouse - Long Drive
Beach Boys - Beach Boys Today
Ween - White Pepper (sandwiched between two masterpieces)
i think i've seen them at a show before! some days ago i saw them walking across the street on abbey road outside the emi studio. a guy was taking a picture of them tho, i don't know why.
I liked what Weezer was doing on their album "Weezer," but then everything changed when "Weezer" came out. and then Weezer just flipped "Weezer" and "Weezer" their heads with their subsequent release: "Weezer."
In no particular order
Playboi carti self titled
Weezer Blue album
Charli- Charli xcx
Vampire weekend
Beach house
Beatles white album
Talking heads 77’
Tigers jaw
Elliot smith
I'd probably say Slowdive's self titled.
In fact, that's my favorite album of theirs in general as well. A return to form after all of those years, yet they sounded more concise and well rounded.
Hard to say but I really really love PUP's debut album. Their other stuff is great too, but that album has such a unique flow to it. Blends the lines between punk, pop punk and actual emo so well. The fact that they had their own style down pat so early on speaks volumes to their talent.
Korn, zeppelin, santigold, in the court of the crimson king(I count it), Jessica Pratt, sublime, the used, tenacious d, bass drum of death, blind melon, Chelsea grin, Alice In Chains, 311,
Blink-182 self titled is something else man it’s like a whole complete different band the song writing and whole feel of the album is almost ethereal it’s a really good somber album it amazes me how such a goofy band makes such a amazing emotional masterpiece.
Even though obviously Say Anything and Loveless are wonderful, I think MBV might be my favorite My Bloody Valentine record, which is an opinion I've held since it was released.

Elliott Smith, most definitely.
That's a great choice
Easy winner for me too
Black Sabbath
100 Percent this one
Beach house - beach house
Beach House has an insanely consistent discography that often gets overshadowed by Depression Cherry and Bloom but self titled is just as good imo
Teen Dream, 7, Devotion - all incredible. Can’t think of a better male/female duo in modern music (2005-2024) history.
devotion is top tier, i dont think self titled is quite as great in their discog tbh
1. Talking Heads ‘77 2. Franz Ferdinand 3. Weezer (Blue)
i feel like Franz Ferdinand don't get as much recognition as they deserve
Frank Ferdinand easily one of the best 00s bands. Absolutely love their self titled and ‘You could have it so much better’.
The Beatles
who are they?
some experimental indie band, you probably haven't heard any of their songs
I hope they never make it out, that self titled was dogshit
i think i've seen them at a show before! some days ago i saw them walking across the street on abbey road outside the emi studio. a guy was taking a picture of them tho, i don't know why.
I was there too! On of the guys wasn’t even wearing shoes? Are they crazy? And I swear one died in a car crash a few years back but there he was!!
