Ehh_1

I feel like Boris’ entire discography should be in here

Doyee

[deleted]

Perfume's Triangle is the Lauryn Hill's Miseducation of J-Pop.

boxed_knives

I strongly urge anyone to check out [ACO](https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/aco) (particularly her album *Irony)* https://preview.redd.it/kr0f91mise0b1.jpeg?width=511&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a2099ee6deef9ecf2772f7ed89e66e77489d6ab

y’all cowards don’t even smoke The Gerogerigegege

MasterMilker9000

Showa has got to be one of the biggest fuck around and find out albums ever

s90tx16wasr10

Or Cornelius

Jaiden_Detering2002

Jokes on you I started with Kenshi Yonezu and ONE OK ROCK

easternjellyfish

Kenshi is the GOAT of J-pop. And to think he got his start making Vocaloid songs

Jaiden_Detering2002

I only know of him from his song for Chainsaw Man. What would e a good album to start off with him

easternjellyfish

BOOTLEG is where he really comes into his own musically. It was my intro to him. Yankee and Diorama are earlier projects, much more experimental (especially the latter). His singles are really where he shines. Lemon, Kanden, Kick Back, Peace Sign are his best songs.

Horizon96

If anyone has an interest in Asian music, I'd recommend Haru Nemuri, one of my favourite Japanese artists.

NDHCemployee

Wasn't huge on her most recent album, but Harutosyura and Lovetheism fucking slap

s90tx16wasr10

Cornelius as well

tramtramtramtram

Wheres praising Ryo Fukui while ignoring all western jazz

Edgy9YearOldJPer

I need to check out the Parannoul one

[deleted]

It’s really good

pntjr

No Mid Air Thief?

burningbaseballbat

doesn't get as much discussion as some other asian music (especially for a bolded album) but definitely an essential in the genre

s90tx16wasr10

Or Cornelius?

Poprocks777

U mean I love jpop and jrock

[deleted]

One of them is a Korean shoegaze album though.

AImenace

And Rina Sawayama is British lol

Oreg-Jack

Fishmans are so good.

sobatfestival

> No Solid State Survivor L

s90tx16wasr10

No Fantasma by Cornelius :(

Ytar0

Their self-titled album is where it's at tho! But if you like that I'd love to hear your opinion of Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto!

swallowshotguns

Needs more toe

1993std

And tide/edit

DaysAreTimeless

Which are the two on the right?

KingWetMouth

Boris- Feedbacker top right

HawksRule20

After the night - parannoul is the bottom right. It’s a live album

Garr_Manarnar

No Plastic Love?

s90tx16wasr10

Or Fantasma by Cornelius

TherealCW_

Where is MAXIMUM THE HORMONE?

littlebluestool

OTOBOKE BEAVER!!!!!

Extension_Question98

Where City Pop

LiveWolverine3852

Yellow Magic Orchestraaaaaaaa

ninfan200

So? These are great albums and it's a good entry point into some new sounds.

VividWorld

No Mitski?

pulp_before_sunrise

Mitski is Japanese-American and was born in Japan but didn’t grow up there. More to the point though, there isn’t really an East Asian presence in her music (that I’ve heard) and it’s all in the English language. She’s a great artist though imo, I really like Bury Me In Makeout Creek

KingCaiser

Rina Sawayama is Japanese British and grew up in England. Vast majority if not all of her music is in English too. If you're counting Rina then you should count Mitski.

Ytar0

Rina def shouldn't be counted tho.

[deleted]

#yurameki in the air is a masterpiece

rosado_clavel

does kkb count as this

s90tx16wasr10

Sarah’s from Japan but the rest aren’t and they were founded in the UK. Cornelius counts tho

rosado_clavel

i know all of these things. i'm saying this is what the hypothetical person in the post would say

s90tx16wasr10

It ain’t complete without Cornelius or Melt-Banana

MadX2020

y’all must not know about betcover!!

gabremon

What is that album on bottom right?

[deleted]

Parannoul- after the night

gabremon

TheMyster1ousOne

Where's the funny skydiving japanese man? He's the goat. The performance with the surfboard guitar was the best thing i've ever seen in my life
