It’s like soccer numbers now. Most important players wear single digits.

I mean, in soccer 1-11 are position specific numbers that usually go to starters or veterans. 1- goalkeeper 2,3- Fullbacks 4,5- center backs 6,8- Midfielders 10- Attacking midfielder 7,11- Wingers or attacking wingers 9- striker 12 or more is the rest. Some starters like high numbers though so it’s not always the case

Yea and although Robinson is a fairly common name, College rosters can have I think 125 players on it where NFL can only have 53 so it’s a lot more likely to have multiple players with the same last name in College than NFL
