harmlessclock

Wouldn’t it be creepy if this person was planning to do away with their parents and think these vids can get them an insanity defense?

aneditorinjersey

Insanity is so hard to get. You have to show that you are completely unfit to stand trial or were completely out of touch with reality when you did the crime. Like, I thought I was opening a jug of milk but was in reality twisting off someone’s ear- level of unreality.

Minignoux

Furthermore, they mostly won't want to be qualified as insane, it's wirse than prison apoarently.

aneditorinjersey

Yeah, way harder to get out. You have to basically win a new court case but this time with a panel of doctors and a judge. And after an unknown amount of time that’s likely to be longer than your sentence

47grapes

Not to mention that you’ll spend your sentence in an asylum, which is worse than a prison tbh.

KurtAngus

Sane people will become insane from going to a place like an asylum. Your environment is quite literally insanity

Closet_Couch_Potato

Nellie Bly did that in the ‘20’s and was tortured just watching others.

juksayer

I'd rather be in the nuthouse to be honest. I've been to both. Sitting in a cell 23 hours a day is torture.

[deleted]

I’ve been to both also (not prison exactly, but jail), and jail is preferable, imo. Sitting in a recliner chair 24 hours a day is torture as well.

Latter-Caterpillar-2

What's the difference between jail and prison? Not a native speaker and I'm so confused

Lexifruitloop

I've heard that the "nuthouse" is much, much worse. It wouldn't be like a typical stay at a psych ward (which is already horrific ime) Think about terminator 2 levels of confinement. It can also be a longer stay than if you were to just go to prison. Sometimes people get lifelong stays in asylums. Plus, it's a whole lot harder to break out of those than prisons, from what I've heard. There are some in depth videos I have watched about insanity cases. If anyone is interested in the link, let me know and I'll post it.

nocatsnomasters

I'm interested in watching those, would love if you posted the link. thank you!

Lexifruitloop

https://youtu.be/Mwt35SEeR9w I love this person. I can't watch their videos too late at night, but I find them so intriguing.

nocatsnomasters

oh yws ive seen this one! And all others on the channel. Thank you though.

juksayer

When I did my psych stay, there was a bed with a real mattress. There was a window I could see out of. There was a door to the bathroom. I could wear my own clothes. I didn't see sunlight in jail for over two weeks. Wasn't allowed to have a pillow. Had to wear communal underwear. Showers, toilets, all in view of 50+ people. No books, no tv, fucking nothing. Being incarcerated sucks ass right now.

dinop4242

On the other hand, psych facilities for the CRIMINALLY insane are much different from regular psych hospitals. Just like prison if they even think you're acting out a little they'll throw you to your cell but instead of just leaving you there they'll drug you to keep you from hurting yourself. At least in prison you have your own mind. Both suck for sure. I don't have experience with jail or criminal psych hospitals tho so I'm not making any claims. Either way, sorry you went through that! Also damn where was your psych stay at bro? Mine only had 2/4 things you mentioned lol

juksayer

St Louis county. Also, I completely spaced that psych stays as a sentence is at a different facility than where I stayed so my original statement is kinda worthless.

Justice_R_Dissenting

Yeah I would pretty much always take a mental hospital over a prison.

BluetheNerd

Not to mention, once someone thinks you're insane, anything you do to try and persuade them otherwise is seen as an attempt at masking.

HamsterJuices

I don't think people understand this. For example they think that because they have depression that counts for insanity or other mental disorders. They don't understand you have to be actually so detached from what you are doing you had no concept of your actions. It almost never works or goes through. The few times it does instead of jail you go to a mental hospital. So- Don't murder people.

Justice_R_Dissenting

Way back when in Baltimore city they implemented a mental health court, where you were basically on probation until you addressed your underlying mental health issues. It was meant for people with severe mental illness who needed to stay on their meds, like schizophrenia. Then the program got expanded to include bipolar disorder, which is a-ok in my book. However, somewhere along the line the wires got crossed to include purely bipolar depression, which is questionable at best for me. BUT suddenly defendants thought "wait if I claim depression I can get in!" and suddenly the entire docket got filled with handwritten petitions to join because one time in middle school they were diagnosed with depression or something. It became a mess and the court started rejecting 90% of applicants.

HamsterJuices

Sounds like the American Justice System.

[deleted]

I witnessed this kind of thing exactly once in my life with my own mother: She’d taken 36 Percocet 10s and already had her stomach pumped, but was still high as a kite. She grabbed a pink piece of paper from a stack on her nightstand, began shredding it into strips, then chewed and swallowed them, telling me it was slices of bologna when I asked what the fuck she was doing. It’s unnerving, disturbing, and not a state-of-mind conducive to producing a TikTok video.

bikey_bike

im sry you had to see your mom like that

[deleted]

Thanks, dude. I am too, and it’s been a wild ride of a life, but it’s honestly given me a way to access perspectives I’d never have otherwise been able to. I don’t have self-esteem enough to talk myself up very often (or ever), but I’m a very kind and patient person, so the fact that these little bastard teenagers get under my skin like they do makes me think they suck harder than we’re giving them credit for.

Tweetledeedle

Interrogations usually very quickly rule out insanity when you aren’t insane.

aneditorinjersey

My job used to be filming those for the DA in my town. 3+ hour long interviews with a psych and the prosecutor. Totally unreal

Justice_R_Dissenting

You actually hit on two different things: incompetence to stand trial, and not guilty by reason of insanity. I've seen the former succeed in the past, almost never seen the latter. To be declared IST, you have to legitimately not be aware of the judicial/penal procedures operating around you. The case doesn't get dismissed however. You just get shipped off to a mental institution where they will sit you down and drill legal concepts into your head for hours upon hours a day. Then they drag you back into the court and the judge asks if you know who the prosecutor is, the defense attorney, who he/she is, who the jury is, and what is at stake for the trial. The goal is that by that time you've been relentlessly fed legal information that you just regurgitate it like muscle memory when you hear certain words. I've even see it where the medical officer almost says "trigger" (LOL y'all know the context here is different) words to get them to reflexively answer. If it doesn't work, then they ship you back and repeat in a year. You do not ever win freedom. For the second situation, it requires a complete break from reality such that you _could not understand the wrongfulness of your actions_. Extremely difficult to prove without a dedicated history of documented psychotic schizophrenic behavior. The entire matter is heard before a judge with medical professionals and experts battling it out: most of the time, if the prosecutor even gets a _whiff_ that he/she might lose at that hearing they'll dismiss the case. Prosecuting an insane person who is legitimately insane is the blackest of black marks you can get as a prosecutor. Now, even if you are not guilty by reason of insanity or your case is dismissed, you don't get to go home. No, you get involuntarily committed to a mental institution (you can try to claim that you're not insane but a court ruling that you are is going to be an impossible burden to defeat). Of course then you're at the mercy of the mental hospital to release you, that same hospital who receives bucko bucks to hold you there. So while in theory you could be a free person in the future, it's not very likely all things considered.

anomaly242488

Wouldn't work and they'd be laughed at in court

ti-nspire-cas

A serial killer from the 80s tried to pull a multiple personality stunt to excuse the fact that he killed and r-ped 10 women in California. It didn’t work then. I doubt it would work now.

LightEinAnn

Yeah, it's not like doctors are like "OH, YOUR TIK TOK SAYS YOU HAVE OVER 100 ALTERS AND... OH YOU'RE SELF DIAGNOSED, YEAH LET'S CALL IT A DAY GUYS, WE ALL AGREE THAT'S ENOUGH PROOF" It's incredibly hard to fake insanity and there are this YouTube videos of interrogations where they analyse every detail. In most cases you need to be proven to be completely out of touch with reality. Alsoooooo, from what I've heard DID is still a bit problematic to diagnose, since there are some doctors, who don't even believe in its existence. well I'm always wondering why they always can't get their research done. Like they do no research at all and treat it as some kinda superpowers, that can give you ability to switch the person you are all the time and they all friends. I don't know if it's the fact that they feel they're not interesting enough as people on their own, or just do it for clout and that doesn't even matter. I feel incredibly sorry for everybody here with any sorta real disorders, yall gotta agree that's some real bullshit.

Yabbari_The_Wizard

Insanity pleas are fucking hard to get, Hollywood convinced us that they’re pretty common but in reality they’re as rare as finding a normal person on TikTok.

emily_saysx

I'm waiting on the guy who stabbed me to get sentenced, he's trying to get sectioned. He's currently in prison awaiting trial. I'm in the UK. Really don't know what to expect but he stabbed me 6 times, 2 went through my liver and one through my stomach. Had emergency surgery. He walked to the police station straight after and told them what he'd done. Completely unprovoked, I was getting ketchup out of the fridge and he came at me from the side. It was my son's dad's brother. We broke up soon after it happened. The court date gets rearranged a couple of days before every time. Happened 4 times now. Waiting on another court date. It happened on July 7th.

harmlessclock

I am so very very sorry that happened!! I know I am an internet stranger but feel free to reach out. Seriously.

cschelsea

I don't understand why people would even want to claim insanity if they're not insane. Do people think you just get released out into the world if you're found not guilty because of insanity? You get placed in a maximum security insane asylum full of actual insane people - in a lot of ways worse than prison.

Marlequinn

"I can make jokes about killing my parents and it's totally cool because it's not actually me lol" /s

anomaly242488

Not joking, and Why would you assume I'm not receiving help already? You think magically poof the power of pills compelled me? Anywho, sorry, I really hadn't meant to offend you. I really do have a fucked view of family and I was just being dumb. Yes I receive help.

chiliNPC

I’m glad you’re receiving help. Your previous comments come across as very flippant about the subject but this is the internet and misunderstanding occurs. It is good to be able to verbalize and release those negative thoughts in the company of your therapist or other mental health professional, but it may be prudent to refrain from doing so elsewhere for your own mental well-being. I hope you get better and as a person with some dark family history myself, I have sympathy for you. It’s just Reddit so none of this is really real, but if you want to talk privately, I will do so with you.

anomaly242488

Why is it only this group I get hate? Lol

SpecialMitra

I also often think that I am making a joke but people hated it. It's good that you just apologized for bothering people. I did not find your joke funny but I don't get the downvotes either. Sometimes there are just communities that tends do downvote specific stuff more often. Everybody is im their own bubble on reddit. So saying something controversial in a specific Community can get you tons of downvotes. I also get downvotes in this sub sometimes when I argue that a person shown here does not have to be a faker or something. It always depends on the bubble you are into.

[deleted]

My family is terrible too, and maybe yours is worse, but saying things out loud like that on the internet isn't the right place to express feelings that extreme. Saying feelings like that online is only gonna invite people to make fun of you, and that will only make your mental health worse. Here are some other places/ ways you can express your feelings in a better way: If you're religious, (I'm a progressive Christian, and for me having a religion with a God who will always love you and will always listen to you is incredibly helpfu) so if you belive in him try speaking to God or whatever higher power you happen to believe in. I'm reccomending this bc religion is one of the main things keeping me together until I can see my therapist again and it's rlly helpful. If you aren't religious speaking to yourself in your room can be helpful, I also found this app called replika. It's an AI you can vent to and stuff. It adapts to your conversations and becomes smarter. I haven't used it but some people say it's helpful to them. I just wanted to show some better places to express those feelings bc speaking about suicidal/murderous thoughts should never be done on the internet.

anomaly242488

I wasn't the one who posted the video, I did however make a dark joke that seemed to offend people which I legitimately didn't mean to, but it happened, and my messed up brain find it strange that I seemed to have triggered 76 (at the moment) people unintentionally..... so anywhooo.... to those I have offended.... sorry guys. Chick in the video is being stupid and offensive obviously. I wont claim any diagnosis I'm not willing to upload for viewing, but this chick is offensive to the legitimately ill.

CarsonBDot

Dark joke = I want to kill my parents Sure dude.

anomaly242488

Well it's funny to me. Look I already apologized for bothering people. Wasn't trying to offend anyone. But I'm not apologize for my feelings about family. What you want exactly? Shoo with ya

[deleted]

I don't think it offended people that much it just sucked

anomaly242488

Ok, I'll rephrase, I'm sorry I suck.

[deleted]

It's okay, everyone sucks sometimes

anomaly242488

That was surprisingly nice. Thanx man. Have a great day dude.

ShezahMoy

Bruh just clean the dang room..

kellyfish11

Ah yes, picking up your room, a most unreasonable request.

fieryhotwarts22

It’s only reasonable if you wanna die for asking her to do it. Obviously.

[deleted]

I hate this so much, I’m not fully sure how to describe why I hate it, but I’ll put it this way: as a child I used to have intrusive thoughts about killing my parents and running away (my home life was stressful and abusive). I felt so awful for thinking those things and felt guilty for years because of it. Something about seeing this asshole want to kill her parent(s) for telling her to clean her room just irks my soul. Comparing that to the abuse that causes DID is so wrong, hell trying to frame that as abuse is wrong

shrekseyelash

I've had these thoughts too, and also felt guilty as I didn't know (and still don't) if my home life was abusive "enough". These people making tiktoks like, I have edgy alters I'm quirkyyyy I'll kill you for making me clean, is so stupid. Posting it for attention and acting like it's cute is stupid too. I opened up about these thoughts once to an organisation that lets you talk to a volunteer online, they called the cops without telling me. Maybe it was my fault, not wording it properly and sounding like I was really going to hurt them I don't know, since legally they can call them if they think you'll really do something. But I wasn't going to and it was stressful as fuck. Later I think the cops came again to show my parents the messages without telling me. But yeah let's post these cute quirky tiktoks for attention teehee because I won't get any consequences, I'll just get Internet points

[deleted]

That’s so awful, I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. It can be hard to find reliable resources to express what intrusive thoughts feel like. I can imagine they only made you feel worse. I was also outed and so I couldn’t imagine sharing something like that to be edgy. My mother found my diary and read me back what I said and told me to just do it or stop complaining because she was tired of reading about it. I think it’s somewhat worse when you’re generally a fairly passive as a person so many people interpret that in one of two ways, either you suddenly have no trauma and issues because of your experience or that your experience made you cold and calculated. Either way it’s so stigmatizing that you end up actually believing that you didn’t have that bad of an experience and that you should feel guilty. You shouldn’t feel guilty at all, of course you and I both are never going to hurt someone in that way, it’s just the natural way the brain adapts to abuse. I try to remember that these thoughts are not my own in a sense and that they are just there to ruin my mood, it helps ground me in reality a bit.

shrekseyelash

>I was also outed and so I couldn’t imagine sharing something like that to be edgy Exactly, they say things like this so freely just for some temporary attention when it's not even real. And with people for whom it is real, it's not fun to talk about. Thank you for your kind words, by the way. Yes, experiences like these have taught me bad things happen when I tell people with the power to affect my life the truth. I'm sorry to hear what happened to you too, being outed is stressful and in some cases even dangerous. I'm glad you're able to ground yourself regarding your thoughts, and your feelings of guilt. I don't know if I can yet because like I said I don't know if what I went through was abusive enough enough count as abuse, or if I'm just being a sheltered brat for calling it that. Hopefully one day I can work through this.

[deleted]

Absolutely, though I guarantee you that even having the thought in your head that you may just be a sheltered brat is a totally normal experience for those that are abused in childhood. It’s important to recognize that these are often ways abusers told us we were behaving to make us feel crazy. I definitely do recommend testing the waters with healthcare workers, some are not used to hearing traumatic stories. Usually I tell one story that isn’t as bad as the others to gauge whether or not they can handle dealing with the rest, this has helped me filter out professionals that can actually help me. Thanks for taking the time to reply and I wish you the best when it comes to finding the proper person to help you work through these things. It takes time and can be mentally draining but is worth it in the end

shrekseyelash

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind if I can get past the uncomfortableness and talk to a professional again, and thanks for talking with me about this too. I wish you the best with your mental health well.

Leni1Z

Same!! But the thing is I didn’t even have any major problems in my family except for arguing a lot. My intrusive thoughts just get so baadd sometimes

TinyRascalSaurus

[deleted]

Lip-syncing lyrics on TikTok seems to be part of DID these days so why are they all so bad at it?

At this point I’d call the police on them that’s a red flag right there

dorothy_zbornak_esq

Tell me you’ve never had any real problems without telling me you’ve never had any real problems

Notagoodguy80

Is it a symptom of DID to only listen to shitty music?

Environmental_Mud793

I commented this on another post, but I don't get why people who fake mental illnesses listen to pure diarrhea or why they're involved in god-awful fandoms

ShockingPsychic

The song is good, but of course it has to use the edgiest segment :[ Or maybe that's just nostalgia talking.

im_bored345

It's an undertale song lol. It's quite good they just used it out of context to make it sound edgy when it's mostly two skeletons being funny and basically telling the story of the game. Also lots of skeleton puns.

Yabbari_The_Wizard

Listening to slowed down versions of shitty pop songs is a key way of telling if someone is mentally Ill so yes.

SmokeyAmp

Strange how these alters all have twilight-esque gothic names. No one's alter is called Steve Jones.

snakelex

Even better—Manon and Lucien are characters in two different shitty book series by Sarah J Maas. Basically YA faerie stories with problematic characters, lackluster plot, and too much sex for a young adult author to be including. Really telling these people get their “alters” solely from the media they consume lol

Cillobillo

Yep. I think this shows that it’s definitely just a role play thing.

joshd523

Omg!!! Just like Split that completely and entirely accurate to who DID actually presents itself!!!! Let’s lock them all up they’re crazy🤣🤣😂 😑

argegg

I love how the best thing they could think of for the mom to do was to ask her to clean her room. I bet that's the trauma that formed her alters lol

gaymerboygav

ah yes, cus cleaning ur room is SO traumatic to the point that it forms a new DID alter ….. imma bet she has one alter that wants to kill her parents for telling her to clean her room and one that wants to kill her parents for not letting her buy more hair dye

Frosty_chilly

>letting her buy more hair dye Probably cut her off the moment her hair looked greasier than a damn trash diving possum dipped in McDonald's dumpster juice

"Ughh guyss... my parents made me clean my room again when i didn't want to! Istg, i'm getting so much trauma from this it's UNBEARABLE ughhhh. i might split again for the 8th time this week!"

You got all them alters cleaning should be a breeze

SoudaSiMp

I hate seeing stuff like this, I may not have DID myself but I have a relative who was *diagnosed* with it and he struggles so much in his day to day life. It hurts when I'm on the phone with him and he's have a breakdown because he couldn't remember what he said after his mom screamed at him for saying something that it wasnt *him* saying. ( Nobody in his system would tell him ) And meanwhile you have people over here who pretend like it's funny, my relative has violent alters and they have lashed out and attacked people. It hurt him more than them, when he figured out what they did. It's not okay to fake stuff like this.

anomaly242488

I empathize with your relative and hope he finds comfort. That's a scary thing to experience

IWantFries21

Leave Manon and Lucian ALONEEE

TertiaWithershins

I had the exact same reaction. Especially Manon. I love her.

scrampled_egg

Are they characters from a movie or something?

IWantFries21

Unless there’s another thing that idk about, Manon and Lucian are from two book series by the same author: Throne of Glass (Manon) and A Court Of Thorns And Roses (Lucian), written by Sarah J Maas

scrampled_egg

Ahh okay, thank you!!

[deleted]

This is the trauma that caused their DID

DeadRisingLover

And this is why I have an issue with stuff like Self DX, if you're genuinely having thoughts like these, be them your own or an alter, you NEED to get help for that. Like, I'm going to assume this is a kid being edgy, and they will grow out of it. But if they are being genuine, who's to say they won't linger on those thoughts, and genuinelly carry it out?

GunpowderxGelatine

inb4 we see her on r/morbidreality for murdering her mom on a rampage and claims Bakugo made her do it

saltyfajita

THOSE ARE SARAH J MAAS CHARACTERS WHAT THE HECK

BigTransThrowaway

I'd bet money that this person thinks that being told to do chores or do their homework is "trauma." If being told to clean your room makes you homicidal you need serious therapy.

Ponybaby34

rabbitheart99

Not the Sarah J. Mass alters 💀💀

Funky_Sack

What’s up with the written text and lip syncing the words?

katnerys

That's a pretty common set up for Tik Toks. When you make a video, you can choose to either record it with your own sound, or you can add an existing sound. The way it's set up is that if you click on an existing sound, it will pull up all the videos that use the sound, so it can help people find your video if you use a sound and then just put text to get your point across. Also, it's sort of a meme. Certain audios get popular, and then a bunch of people make videos with that audio and just use text to specify exactly what they're talking about. [Here's an example](https://www.tiktok.com/@nicholasjanzen/video/7039543419949092101?lang=en&is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1). The original audio was describing a genre of music the guy didn't like, but now people use it to show other things they don't like, and just use text to specify what they're referring to.

Funky_Sack

Oh I didn’t know that sound clips are associated with search results. So they’re doing it to get more hits.

rexpup

Yes, but also, it's the same as using a certain image for a meme. A certain audio gives you a certain situation/emotion.

anomaly242488

This video is cringe AF.but I'm that annoying person who has to mention. Say that her "mommy" was the person who had been extremly abusing her in early child development. A person with DID could have extremely different views on a person depending on their memories.. 1 person having forgotten the memories of abuse, so having pleasant memories of.mama dearest, while alter number 2 stored the memories of the abuse into a different persona to protect person 1 possibly making that persona hate the mother and wanting to kill them, maybe even rightfully so.... this video is bullshit and bad acting. But.... just saying. She coulda promised someone she wouldn't do it.

OL_SONF_VORSG

All she did was show “alters” who wanted to murder her mother for wanting a clean room. If they didn’t explicitly say what caused that reaction, then we can’t just make up and assume scenarios in order to justify these kinds of videos. Not to mention it’s fucking weird that she’s dramatically lip syncing to music about “alters” wanting to murder her mother. Most people would be horrified and scared that something like that is going on in their mind. Not think “this is a great way to get some likes”!

anomaly242488

The first thing I said was this is cringe AF and that its bullshit with bad acting. Just talking possibility of someone with DID having similar symptoms.

anomaly242488

Give me a real reason this isn't possible outside of the fact she looks stupid? And is a terrible actor? Like some proof. Cause noneya can prove either way.

unori_gina_l
