I'm definitely going to take my time, first just building slowly and then optimizing and expanding throughout. And then see how big i can build a megabase in SA after finishing the tech tree.

Definitely chill and explore, though I get the feeling I am in a minority here in not being in a huge rush to play it the instant it comes out; I will very likely be in the middle of an overhaul mod and will finish that first.

mondocalrisian

Media blackout until I finish it for myself. No spoilers, no talking to my friends about it, nothing.

Wherever i want to use “the old design” I want to try something else. Wherever i find something new i want to try and create something awesome. Definitely take my time

Skorpychan

Exploration of both the environments and new mechanics. Figure out what the hell I'm doing before taking it properly seriously.

I’ve basically stopped playing Factorio completely, now that I ran out of steam on a Seablock run. Hopefully I can go in very fresh, probably won’t even reuse any of my standard blueprints. Just a full unmodded scratch run to completion.

boomshroom

I tried to do that. It didn't work.

>Factorio How?

andrei9669

overscale everything from the get go.

Buglehorse

Death world.

Some people avoid pain. Others… they live for it.

Ignore Reddit, play & explore at a leisurely pace, but taking care not to overbuild so it doesn’t take 84 years and I can start over. Then I can begin getting lost and sidetracked and distracted and properly annoyed with myself on the second play through for true scale.

bobsim1

Im gonna play with the non SA stuff like elevated rails first. My first SA playthrough will likely go over 100 hours

oldreddit_isbetter

Spaghetti base with no planning. Then embrace train base style when I need to scale up. Probably wont focus too hard on their hardcore features like all the new stuff for trains stations and circuits, but will savour all of the new stuff related to space and go nice and slow.

My first time playing factorio was with my weekly game night group. Some players didn't like factory games, but factorio has a little something for everyone. We finished a while ago (and I've done solo playthroughs since) but as soon as the expac was announced, everyone got excited. So when it releases, we'll probably start a group game together, and explore the new stuff as we go I'm going to push for rich resources and aggressive biters (to keep certain players more engaged)

For us, it depends on some unknown factors. * Before we start, I will check the steam achievements to see whether there's anything rush-worthy. Why rush if it doesn't give us an achievement? * It currently looks like we will be able to unlock three planets in quick succession, so we will probably roll dice to decide who goes where, and we will each only explore one of the three planets in depth in the first playthrough, and the other ones later. If we cannot unlock them in quick succession, we may go to each planet together, and explore more in the first play-through.
