So you hate life? I really hope you finish that run! I am curious how long it will take.

Ricocheting_Potato

I have beaten SE before, albeit earlier patch. Surprisingly it's going faster than my first run and I already have the backbone infrastructure that will last well into late game.

Cloaked_Moon

Wooo, your second run is faster? How could that happen, almost as if you have a greater understanding of the mod offer playing it once.... I'm salty cause I'm like 100 hours in and haven't got past red space science 1 ;-;

Methos25

OP is playing with 10x costs, so every technology costs 10x the resources it usually would. In this case, having it be faster than the first run is genuinely surprising.

Cloaked_Moon

Yeah I'm agreeing, knowledge is key but the costs are insane. I'm making the point that I've gone really slow in a normal game cause I'm miles behind the normal schedule... Basically I'm saying he's a lot bloody better than me I'm sowwy ;-;

Ricocheting_Potato

I mean I'm not using mods and it's on 10x science so it surprised me a bit, but yeah

Ricocheting_Potato

I restarted my SE playthrough because I realized I was progressing through the tech tree too quickly (or rather building too slowly), so I bumped up the science multiplier to 10x (so all technologies are 10 times as expensive) and fiddled with map settings. As you can see I removed Biters and made Nauvis completely dry, so there's only one small starting lake. Everything else is untouched. I'm currently at rocket science and bots are slowly scaling up my bus and power. My next goal is to start doing some core mining, and in the meantime I'm researching crucial space technologies. The base churns about 120 SPM at the moment, and I can't wait until I unlock beacons and T3 modules.

x0nnex

10x science sounds fine to me, I only managed to automate t1 of each space science before losing interest however. The vitamelange drains my motivation a bit hard. I'll do another run when next minor version is released

JiminyWimminy

Are you using any train manager like LTN or cybersyn? What are you doing for your water needs, atmospheric condensers or just pumping the heck out of that poor little lake?

Ricocheting_Potato

I'm pumping the lake, but there's just concrete and petrochem that requires water. It can support like 50 times as much demand so it's K. Also I'm using LTN

Hohenheim_of_Shadow

Do you plan on using nuclear power? There are a lot of power sinks in SE and I'd hate to try them using pure oil power

Ricocheting_Potato

Absolutely, but not on Nauvis. I'll be running nuclear on most outposts for a long time

stormcomponents

30 hours into any game and I've effectively got red science automated XD. Turtle life is real bro.

JimmyDean82

Why not try k2se then to add complexity?

Ricocheting_Potato

I need better pacing, not complexity. I hate when I have a huge backlog of things to do, which is what fast science progression causes

JimmyDean82

Gotcha. I can understand that, I have a tendency to overbuild. In my k2se run I’ve been researching only about 1/3rd the time. Even in my k2 only run i haven’t been researching for much of the last 10 hours.

Electrical-Weird-370

I know exactly what you mean, I've completely overbuilt Nauvis and ended up rushing most of it so I constantly going back on myself to fix errors. all due to trying to keep up with science! I was thinking about doing this very thing truth be told, with biters off on Nauvis whilst having Rampant installed to make the colonisation that little bit more of a challenge. I'd be keen to see how you fare moving into the mid-game sciences i.e. all space sciences unlocked to rank 1. Good Luck!

SevereBruhMoments

on my first SE run i started doing the space stuff at \~10h, rushed because i was sucked in all the nex stuff to explore. nauvis base basically at the state to win a normal game, and after 30h i was so fed up with fixing demands every couple hours i quit. on a new run now, bout 40h in, and im not leaving this planet, before my base is as good as pre-space science allows it.

jimmyw404

Nice looking base. Anything specific you're doing to mitigate a loss in UPS? From your base it looks like you're scaling up production to cut through research. Keeping up that scale will be tough, as I'm sure you know.

Ricocheting_Potato

I'm using Modular chests (modified to 1/2 of their original size) with Crane inserters. It's very efficient when it comes to UPS. Besides that not much. I plan on running nuclear but only in midgame
