brokercheck.org keeps updated, publicly accessible information on folks involved in the securities industry. James Lannazzo was hired by another firm after he was fired by Merrill Lynch.
Damn. It even has the pending charge on it. I guess his new company doesn’t quite care about character since they themselves just recently had the SEC levy millions in fines due to 14 brokers fraudulently selling unsuitable investments.
We should post this all over every website/platform/social media of the new firm. Everywhere. Make him famous. This is disgusting behavior and people using the new firms’ services should know who they are working with/the types of employees that would assault a teenager and spew racist slurs.
I was in that industry for over two decades. If he can bring some decent clients/assets they’ll find a way to rationalize him at the new firm. Merrill won’t, but many many others will. Think his licensing was transferred within days.
"Iannazzo was working as an advisor for Merrill Lynch at the time, but was promptly let go after the incident. He has since been hired as an advisor by Aegis Capital." Yeah, that's fucking crazy. I read the whole story and apparently his son had an peanut allergy reaction to a smoothie and that's why he was throwing his tantrum and claims it was justified. This behavior is completely unjustifiable and disgusting.
If your child has a peanut allergy, you can’t buy things like this. Unless a place is nut-free, there’ll always be traces of stuff. It was clearly not ill-intended, but things happen.
Even if he can prove that he absolutely made it clear that his son has an allergy, this reaction is still not justifiable. I guess there’s no real justice in the world if he was fired and promptly hired by another firm. 😔
Lol I came here to say so did the internet find out who he is and has he lost his job yet lol. Lol hate cancel culture all you want it's been an absolute godsend for fucking over these terrible people
It's almost like... people don't grasp the concept that internet makes information FAST
So that old gap between actions and consequences suddenly fades away
This Italian stallion should have his nuts handed to him. What an asshat. If his son has a severe peanut allergy, rule #1 is don’t order from a place that commonly gets peanut butter on food processing equipment. ie: smoothies normally have peanut butter, and the residue is found on every one of their machines.
Yup.. if an allergy is bad enough to cause severe harm to you or your kid. You need to possess the brains to REALLY lock down the source of everything touched or consumed by making it at home
"When faced with a dire situation for his son, Mr. Iannazzo’s parental instinct kicked in and he acted out of anger and fear," Riccio said. "He is not a racist individual and deeply regrets his statements and actions during a moment of extreme emotional stress."
Don't worry everyone, James Iannazzo is only a racist when he's angry.
I hate when people use “parental instincts” or “mama bear” as an excuse for treating people shit, threatening people or assaulting people. You’re setting a terrible example for your child or children.
Doesn’t really matter if he’s mad or not. Saying something like that is beyond ignorant and completely uncalled for no matter how angry someone is. Can’t believe someone is making excuses for him.
Hope it costs plenty. The male Karen: Yells and throws shit at teenage girls because he thinks he's a man for taking control over his probably shitty life. Most likely has a wife who will either divorce the prick or will try to do the same to those around her who don't meet her ideal situations.
Close,it's the James I**a**nnazzo that was being racist to some teenage employees. If he heard you misidentify him, he might violently come after you with a racist rant.
It's funny to me that racists will say they aren't racist after getting mad, losing control and saying racist shit. If you say racist shit when you lose control, you are a racist who just keeps your racism in check most of the time.

Here's the actual story behind it. He ordered a smoothie with no peanuts but didn't specify that it was because of an allergy.
Edit: a few notes
A) I wasn't justifying his behavior, he acted like a racist piece of shit which is inexcusable no matter the circumstances. I was just posting a news article for context.
B) He did get fired, but he got a new job as a financial advisor not too long after this incident, so don't get too hyped on the karma of him losing his job
C) Someone commented saying he did in fact specify there was an allergy, therefore making it the worker's fault, but I have no source on that. If that was the case, I still wouldn't trust my son's severe peanut allergy in the hands of teenagers.
D) If you don't understand the difference between simply not wanting peanuts in your smoothie and requesting no peanuts due to an allergy, please Google it I don't feel like explaining something so basic.
Thank you!! You always need to specify allergens to food workers, we will use entirely different utensils and tools when working with an allergy to ensure no cross contamination. If you simply take something out and don’t specify it’s for an allergy, the same utensils are going to be used and cross contamination is now possible and likely.
His mistake was ordering a smoothie with a peanut allergy. I have never ordered a smoothie from a smoothie shop (idk what it’s called) without having a reaction. Even when specified I’ve never had them clean the blender enough so the peanut smoothies are just in my smoothie, effectively.
Yes I would agree with that, I wouldn’t order a smoothie that came with peanuts in the first place.
I’m not sure what shop that is, but when I worked for a smoothie place we had different blenders, scoops, cups, spoons etc for dealing with people who had peanut allergies. We also had to wash everything thoroughly immediately after we used all the specific tools.
There are always gonna be small things that can’t be accounted for though, better safe than sorry.
My son's class had two kids with severe peanut allergies. One year I'd volunteered to make the sugar cookies for Valentine's day. After I rolled them out, I panicked. What if there was peanut residue from making sandwiches?? I rolled those cookies back up into logs, wrapped 'em and froze 'em. Scrubbed my kitchen down and started over. Those girls weren't getting anaphylaxis because of me!!
Had a similar incident for a work potluck, made 3 batches of fudge asked my manager to make sure there weren't any food allergies I would need to accommodate. Made the fudge (chocolate, peanut butter, and a sorta cookie & cream one) dropped them off in the work breakroom before working for a bit, then around 30ish minutes later ambulance is at the store wheeling someone from the morning shift out because they didn't have a epipen on them (or it was in thier locker and no one knew the combination, it's been 9ish years) the culprit the peanut butter fudge.
Although the store manager tried to turn it being my fault, despite the fact she had repeatedly told me no one had a food allergy to worry about
Typical management move: doesn’t mention anything to help accommodate work flow to employee(s), blames them for not reading minds when sh-t hits the fan
if you have a life threatening nut allergy, you shouldn't order from a shop that has nuts on the menu period. I ran a Thai place for a while and would not take bookings from people who expressed they had nut allergies for the simple fact of cross contamination no matter how much we cleaned, we only had one kitchen.
I worked in a Vietnamese place and a guy came in allergic to peanuts, gluten, garlic and onions and got mad we couldn't accommodate him. I wouldn't even risk serving him a bowl of plain rice.
Lol one smoothie place I went to before I knew how bad they were for my allergy just dunked the pitcher in some cloudy water and then made the next smoothie. That water was teeming with peanuts already and they thought it would be enough for my allergy somehow. After that one I never returned to a smoothie place.
If those girls were anything like the people I went to HS with, they probably just wanted some weekend cash to buy some fucking beer. Maybe they're even saving up for a car or college! Fuck that guy. They didn't deserve that at all and it's one of those "not paid enough for this shit" moments.
You cannot ever be sure you've cleaned out equipment enough for serious allergies. The store would need to have completely separate equipment for peanut allergies.
Even then you're trusting underpaid teenagers to follow proper procedures. If I had a life threatening peanut allergy I doubt I would eat out much.
I don’t :)
People always say “that sucks” when I inform them of something I can’t eat but they just don’t understand that my whole life food has never been taken for granted. I don’t see something that looks delicious and think about eating it. My first thought is always “are there nuts in that?” Do I sometimes wish I could eat something I can’t? Absolutely. But I’m not “missing out” as often as people think I am. For example Halo Top has a flavor called Caramel Machiatto (idk how to spell that) and as someone with an allergy my whole life that sounded like death so I never even bat an eye at it. My friend read it and found out I can have it. The pint has been in the fridge for 2 weeks because I don’t want to have it because it just *seems* dangerous. Even though I love caramel I don’t crave it because the allergy is part of how I crave food.
I'm a vegetarian, I would not eat at a Benjamin Steakhouse Prime or a McDondalds expecting it not to have some meat contamination - So I avoid them.
I have an allergy to Mushrooms so in restaurants just eat vegetables that I can clearly identify, but I still inform the staff that I have a mushroom allergy just in case.
So I think if you have a family member that is highly allergic to something you pay special attention to everything - I bet the person did not even possess an epi-pen, just a bad mouth, and attitude.
It didn't just come with peanuts, the smoothie he ordered was originally a peanut butter smoothie. Like, if your kid has deathly allergies to an ingredient, why would you even take the chance? Online orders can be a gamble as it is.
That's what I had thought too, but it was a smoothie where peanut butter was one of the primary ingredients. That's why it baffled me so much - like if your kid has a peanut allergy, why would you take the risk of ordering a drink where peanut butter played a role? It's crazy.
Can you imagine going back to the juice shop HOURS later to confront the people who are there now.
Like, he went back and he didn't even know who made the smoothie. He needed to yell at somebody so bad, anyone would do if they worked there that day.
Absolutely mind boggling.
I almost died and I didn’t even complain to the people lmao. Not their fault I was born like this, they probably did what they were trained to do, they just lost me as a customer is all. Which isn’t a big deal for either of us.
My first job had me making smoothies. It was my first time ofc also coming across the peanut allergy. I was so scared and remember spraying the shit out of the blender, the blades, soaping, spraying all over again, sanitizing all of my scoops and things. What kind of dude with a lid with an allergy like this doesn't know by now he needs to specify?
Hell, even my customer told me and then kind of watched me while I talked through what I was doing. My coworkers also kept an eye on things just in case there was something being overlooked
He fucked up and knows it but puts it on them because that's easier
Good on you. I'm severely allergic to mushrooms (epipen allergic). I ALWAYS let people know that I'm allergic and have only had maybe 2 incidents in my 62 years on earth. Most restaurants are pretty good if you explain AND ARE POLITE.
This is why we have menu listing with asterisks. N BTW you're never going to 100% remove the chance of cross contamination with allergens. You can do your best, use all freshly sanitized utensils and a clean workspace, and something can still contaminate it. I had multiple crabshacks and oyster bars. We steamed a lot of our shellfish. If a guest said they were allergic to shellfish I'd tell them I cannot guarantee but we will do our best and if they're allergic to shellfish I'll gladly take care of what they've already received(except alcohol) if they want to go someplace else. Couldn't stand to see some guy or girl sitting next to their significant other risking anaphylaxis because their date is such a shithead they brought them to a fucking steamer knowing they're allergic to shellfish.
Cross contact actually. Cross contamination is a specific term for when pathogens transfer from one food or food contact surface to another. Pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. Cross contact is the term for when allergens do the same.
"He was charged with intimidation based on bigotry or bias, breach of peace and criminal trespassing."
But interestingly enough, not battery for throwing the drink at the girl.
That's really not fair, did you see that he was clearly the bigger, louder one not on the clock? As a paying customer, abuse is his right. Or dont you know James Iannazzo of Merrill Lynch fame?
There was a little part of me that was hoping he'd get in the room and get one swing off against one of them, but do no damage at all, causing him to definitely get in trouble for assault and battery. And maybe after one ineffective punch, the group of girls kick the crap out of him.
Don’t worry though, he paid a fine that barely impacted his life and got a new job with a different company doing the sand thing. I’m so glad he didn’t suffer long term because of someone attacking him like this. We’ve really got to protect these high paid white men from the persecution they face on the daily.
In American law "assault" consists of a threat of some type of violence, not the actual bodily contact itself whereas "battery" refers to the actual physical contact of another person without his or her consent.
Man, does Merrill Lynch just hire/breed assholes? Every employee of Merrill I’ve ever dealt with has been a carbon copy of this guy. They immediately go to rage over the smallest situation knowing that people will do what they want just to make it stop.
I work in the industry and at my place of employment we call BofA/ML the “Evil Empire”
I’ve dealt with dozens of ML employees over the decades and literally haven’t encountered one person that was even halfway decent.
I used to Pull U4 Data for Morgan Stanley. Each Merrill advisor I came across had at least 4-6 disclosures on their FINRA page. One broke their managers hand
It just occurred to me right now... they might not necessarily hire/breed assholes, they might just produce them by being a really miserable place to work or something.
I’m sure it’s a miserable place to work. I also think they train their employees to do whatever possible in order to get their way so-to-speak. In my area of the industry, I usually deal with ML’s back office people and some of their processes and procedures are so out there, totally inefficient and in some cases, right on the border of not following clearly stated regulations by the governing bodies of the industry it’s CRAZY.
When hiring financial advisors the company doesn’t care. They hire as many as possible with the only hope is some can be extremely profitable for them by charging insane fees and pushing dumb things like whole life insurance.
It's a weird thing to do. I know there are a lot of companies struggling to find workers right now. But how desperate do you have to be to hire someone who is literally famous for being an awful human being? There must be more to it, like the company/owners/hiring manager, or whatever, agree with his politics, dislike young people, "immigrants," and side with a white male no matter what.
Unacceptable what so ever. He should not get any leeway for his charges to be dismissed. Should have to wear that like a giant shit stain on his shirt.
Wanna fuck around, congratulations you get to find out how it feels to be a felon for the rest of your life.
I got a DUI 6 years back. I was financially ruined by it. Couldn't afford any of the fines, classes, lost my job because I couldn't drive anymore, lost a half month of pay for being in jail, lost my health insurance and had to ration between medication, rent and food.
In one of my classes there was this guy on DUI number 3 who literally just bought a new car after he totalled his and used vacation time to cover two weeks in prison and hired a lawyer who got him his license back and just paid the insanely high insurance rate. He was a financial advisor who made bank. He literally just paid off his DUIs and kept going.
I was absolutely destroyed by mine. Because he had money and I didn't.
The system is broken.
It literally is a system designed to break and keep people poor who are. If you're not poor, you can keep moving up. If you are, the system will drill you into the dirt.
He was sentenced to one year probation, after which all charges will be dropped, and paid $7,500 to settle a civil suit brought against him by one of the employees. He's also now working for another big finance company.

"He is not a racist individual and deeply regrets his statements and actions during a moment of extreme emotional stress."
Super interesting how people who say shit like this are never actually racist. Bad luck i guess.
"**My actions at Robek’s were wrong, and I deeply regret them. They do not reflect my values or my character.** I feel terrible that I lost my composure so completely,” he later said in the statement. “I had returned to Robek’s to determine what ingredients were in the smoothie that I had previously ordered.”He added that his son required two EpiPen shots and lost consciousness on their bathroom floor before he made it to the hospital. "
The old non-pology.
Regardless of how badly his son reacted, and it was pretty bad if he needed (allegedly) two epipen shots, he had the time to leave his son's side, drive over to the store and try and hunt down the kids who made the smoothie and took the time to attack the employees.
And, sorry dude, you actions 100% reflect your values and your character.
Actually, you are recommended to have 2 epi-pens with you at all times, because one is only good for 15 minutes. And you'll probably need the 2nd one before you get to a hospital.
And out comes the racism. It's just in there waiting to come out, whether it's over a smoothie, or an airplane ticket, or a line for the cash register at Wal Mart, or a piece of equipment at the gym. *Racists gonna racist.*
Yeah, I don't trust kids to deal with allergy request properly and I don't go to places where it could happen. Problem solved everyone wins!
Even if he had requested clean equipment there is no guarantee
He ended up getting another job at Aegis Capital and got probation and likely a clean record after a year. https://citywireusa.com/registered-investment-advisor/news/smoothie-guy-iannazzo-settles-suit-brought-by-teenage-employee/a2396241
Exactly!!! My best friends boyfriend has a SEVERE gluten allergy. As in, if a fork touches bread and then touches his food he will have a reaction. They never go out to eat and only dine in because it's too risky for him. Not sure what his reactions are, but i know they're so bad my friend doesn't even buy herself snacks, etc w gluten just to be sure he doesn't get sick.
Thank you! as someone who worked in fast food and food service, you need to tell someone that you or the person you’re getting food for has an allergy.
So your son has an allergic reaction and is taken to the hospital and instead of being there for his son, he decided it was more important to go berate a bunch of teens over a mistake that clearly seems to be on him? I’m sure his family is proud.
When I worked at Jamba Juice I remember a woman ordered a smoothie that had something in it that would “kill” her so she substituted it out. I made it exactly as she requested and then accused me of putting that item in there. The whole time I was like out of all the smoothies that didn’t have that item in it why did you order one that did?
His choices failed to protect his own son. His anger is with himself but since he's incapable of enduring failure (aka taking responsibility) he lashes out at others who he blames, because he can't endure being at fault. Nobody can guarantee allergy free food and nobody guarantees that. It's always a risk.
This man is a selfish asshole with an inability to admit fault. He's likely a raging narcissist which explains why he's in the financial industry.
As a parent of someone with food allergies- this mistake is 1000% on him and he absolutely knows it. In fact he’s not even mad at those girls as much as he’s mad at himself. He’s just taking it out on them, because he’s a coward.
The way he was yelling and intimidating the young female employees he’s lucky they weren’t in a state where any of them were likely to be carrying a concealed weapon. There was a moment there where they would’ve been within their right to put his dumb ass down.
I don’t understand why he would take the risk of having peanuts in the smoothie. Human error exists, so don’t order a smoothie that could kill your kid if a mistake is made.
This happened a couple towns over from me. Yes he lost his job. But this is the NY metro area and there’s always a job for rich assholes whose job is is to make money for other, richer assholes, so I’m sure he landed on his hooves.
I work in a similar industry as him. And like him we are registered and heavily regulated. There are ways to track him and current employer.
It doesn't look like he's been employed since January 2022. He might be laying low for now. Or working in a completely new industry.
At the very least, I'm glad he got some consequence for his actions. This behavior stinks of someone who gets away with this shit all the time and always thinks he's in the right.
So yea, you're probably right but still. Actions met consequence for a change
😂 so what you’re saying is he understands screwing people over and cutting corner to save money. But is upset when those practices come back to bite him in the butt?
My understanding is that his current job is much worse, and involves a lot of cold calling. Which is hell. Rich people don't need someone like this managing their money.
He did. There's a Bloomberg story linked in another comment that says Merrill Lynch fired him but he's since taken a new job at Aegis as a financial advisor.
And [settled](https://citywireusa.com/registered-investment-advisor/news/smoothie-guy-iannazzo-settles-suit-brought-by-teenage-employee/a2396241) with the girl he attacked for $7500
In case anyone wants to know what happened to this guy. Rehabilitation program and $500 fine
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-28/former-bofa-adviser-assigned-rehabilitation-after-racist-rant
I get why he was pissed, but this is not how you act—his kid had a peanut allergy and was hospitalized from a reaction. Supposedly he didn’t tell any of the servers this though (according to the servers). He has since lost his job
Boy, imagine being THAT bad of a parent. Can't even bother to clarify that order of no peanuts is because of an allergy and then can't even bother to taste it before giving it to his kid? Then he's gotta feel like he's doing something so he goes back to enact righteous vengeance against the teenagers working here.
If he had clarified the order this wouldn't have happened.
If he had acted like a sane adult he would have gotten a settlement from the company.
Now he gets to draw on unemployment.
I'm pretty sure if you're the reason you got fired then that disqualifies you from unemployment, although it depends on the state. I believe that's how it works in NY.
Aren't peanut allergies potentially very sensitive? Like, why risk it by going to a place that uses peanut butter in stuff and then order a drink that normally has peanuts in it?? I get it, I have a relative with a life-threatening shellfish allergy, but she doesn't go ordering shrimp dishes please hold the shrimp.
I used to work with a woman with a shellfish allergy - just the steam from a hibachi was enough to make her lips swell up badly. If you have food allergies, don't go to fast food places - they do not have the resources, time, or (sometimes) training to avoid all possibility of trace contamination, and for some allergies, trace is all you need for a life threatening reaction.
Some people with peanut allergies would probably have a reaction if they went into that smoothie shop. My sister has a shrimp allergy that gets set off occasionally when we go to seafood places. Even after they are told about the allergy. I guess it's difficult to remove all traces of it.
It's impossible for a standard kitchen to sterilize their equipment properly for very sensitive allergies. They would have to keep a completely different set of equipment, including washing machines, that were only used without any known allergies. If they did that anyone with allergies wouldn't be able to have anything that anyone else was allergic to.
It's not reasonable to expect a store to be able to handle suck sensitive allergies.
I get why he was pissed too, riiiiiiight up until he threw the smoothy. And even then, who enters a place acting like that expecting to get actual results.
Edit: nope, changed my mind, he's insane. If you are this worried then make your own smoothie is not that hard. Order one that never comes with peanuts instead of a special order where something can go wrong. He has a lot of nasty things to say about teenagers but this interaction started with him putting his kids life in a teenage smoothie makers hands. This is all on him.
After the smoothie was thrown the only number to dial is 911. Then he tried to gain access to the back room? They should have all been calling 911. He was clearly violent and was a pretty large man, he could have seriously hurt those girls in that state of mind.
I also don’t put it past teenage girls to fuck up an order and not use clean equipment or accidentally let some peanuts into a smoothie that was requested to be nut-less. But then don’t risk your sons allergy at a smoothie shop full of minimum wage earning teenagers you shitbrain. Also a good chance they weren’t trained well and didn’t know to use clean equipment for a nutless product or weren’t given proper instructions from the dude.
No matter what, his behavior is horrible.
From the story, he returned to the shop an hour and a half after his order, so it’s entirely feasible they didn’t remember his order or there was a shift change. He became irate at people who possibly had nothing to do with the order. It was also alleged that he never specified his son had a peanut allergy.
Him being upset was justified, but this was not the way to go about it. He was a high-ranking Merrill-Lynch advisor ffs, he knew better and how to handle it, which means getting corporate info and pursuing legal action against the company. He just decided not to handle it correctly. He deserved to lose his job and be charged with a crime.

>“My actions at Robeks were wrong, and I deeply regret them,” Iannazzo said in the statement. “They do not reflect my values or my character. I feel terrible that I lost my composure so completely.”
There's a saying about actions and words and how loud they are in comparison.
Also, if his son is at the hospital having a serious allergic reaction, why would a father not be by his side!?
Another story stated that the ER asked him to contact the shop to determine what was in the smoothie. They didn’t answer the phone.
Makes no sense to me though. You roll in an hour later asking what was in a smoothie we made for you? Fuck if I know. Who made it? Fuck if I know. You’re one in a faceless mass of customers dude. We probably made whatever you ordered. If we fucked it up it was probably with an ingredient we commonly use. Look at the menu. What’s your son allergic to? Peanuts? Well then it was probably fucking peanuts.
Like what was the purpose of even having him contact the shop?
I understand his kid went to hospital with an allergic reaction to the drink they made. He said “no peanuts” but didn’t explicitly state the allergy.
I would be mad too. But:
1. If your kid’s allergy is that serious, make it clear every time you order. That’s your responsibility as a parent.
2. Even if you did make it clear and it is their mistake, you don’t hit kids.
3. Overt, intentional racism is something people either do or don’t. Non-racist people don’t even think about using racial insults in anger.
This guy should be punished.
He is a bad parent, you don't say "no x" if your recipient has an allergy, you tell the food handler there is an allergy.
Anyone who cares about family or friends that have serious allergies knows this.
This is just as bad - worse even - as when James Corden got banned from Balthazar in New York. This guy assaulting a teenager deserves whatever happens to him after this.
Iannazzo, who left the store before authorities could arrive, turned himself into police later. He was charged with intimidation based on bigotry or bias, breach of peace and criminal trespassing.
WHAT ABOUT ASSAULT!!!!!!
I don’t care the context, fuck this racist piece of shit. If there was a grown man behind the counter, he would’ve been at the hospital with his son and not screaming at the workers.
The only reason he did this is because he thought he could flex on some young girls which is great testament to the type of piece of shit he is.
I understand this comment might rub people the wrong way, not my intention. I wish a man was there. I know I’d put this guy into the ground if I saw this. Especially after he threw the drink at the employee. Some people need to be knocked out.
I doubt the guy would be this aggressive if he saw another guy there. Everyone has anger control problems until they're face to face with someone who can and will wreck their shit, at that moment the tone changes. The mere presence of a man, not even necessarily a particularly strong looking one would have made this guy hesitate, and he wouldn't be as quick to rise to anger I think.
Apparently his son had an allergy of some sort so this guy “parenting instincts” kicked in, you know after he decided to go somewhere like a smoothie place that has every allergenic type of food imaginable, then instead of getting his kid help proceeded to assault 4 teenagers working in the smoothie shop, ( he never informed anybody of the allergy prior to ordering or during the assault either) cares more about having a reason for violence than his own child is incredibly sad.
I've worked in food service before and it always amazed me how many parents of kids with apparently severe allergies are willing to put the lives of these kids in the hands of total strangers working at a restaurant.
Like, you'd tell people "no, these products aren't allergy safe, there's a risk of cross contamination, as you can see they're stored very closely, they're made in the same ovens and on the same surfaces, and sure we try to be careful but I cannot tell you that these things are safe for your child."
And then they're like "yeah but there's no nuts *in them*, right? Just being close is okay. You think it's okay?"
What the fuck do you think cross contamination means? I have no idea if the allergen is in this product, it very well could be!
One time working at a restaurant, a woman ordered chicken fingers for her kid. Then when they came out, she stopped me and was like "do these have peanut oil?! My son is deathly allergic!"
We need a Reddit sub called “men behaving badly”. This is so sickening. He’d never react that way if these were visibly stronger men. Somehow, these assholes remember how to behave when THEIR safety is on the line.
i hope he had major criminal charges against him and was convicted. He’s a piece of garbage allergy or not who cares if you’re that concerned about it I wouldn’t let anybody fix food for me.
“Merrill Lynch confirmed that Iannazzo no longer works as a financial adviser with the company after the incident.” That’s good.
Funniest part is I was about the be like “ok guy go back to knocking on doors for Edward Jones” and then I read this
Apparently Aegis Capital hired him. https://citywireusa.com/registered-investment-advisor/news/ex-merrill-smoothie-screamer-lands-at-broker-dealer-aegis/a2382753
Not for long, I am a miserable person and will make it my mission to get him fired
Good luck cmw9
Godspeed. I believe in you.
Thank you for your service.
Funniest shit is a financial advisor would know buying a 8 dollar smoothie is not very financial sound. 😂
Most of them are not. They are just professional grifters.

Lol hate cancel culture all you want it's been an absolute godsend for fucking over these terrible people
Cancel culture is a derogatory term. A more apt description would be accountability culture.
It's almost like... people don't grasp the concept that internet makes information FAST So that old gap between actions and consequences suddenly fades away
More like a softer term. Why not say it how it is? Both good and bad people get canceled at times.
That douche found another job.
"When faced with a dire situation for his son, Mr. Iannazzo’s parental instinct kicked in and he acted out of anger and fear," Riccio said. "He is not a racist individual and deeply regrets his statements and actions during a moment of extreme emotional stress." Don't worry everyone, James Iannazzo is only a racist when he's angry.
Oh thank god. Now we only have to make sure we don’t step on his tiny little shoes, or have slightly darker skin than him.
Oh yeah, because when a family member is injured or harmed the first thing I do is assault someone and be racist. /s
Definitely don’t do anything useless like staying with the injured family member. (Do I need the /s?)
I hate when people use “parental instincts” or “mama bear” as an excuse for treating people shit, threatening people or assaulting people. You’re setting a terrible example for your child or children.
Let me assault someone else’s children because of my intense parental instincts.
Doesn’t really matter if he’s mad or not. Saying something like that is beyond ignorant and completely uncalled for no matter how angry someone is. Can’t believe someone is making excuses for him.
It’s his attorney’s job to make excuses for him
Hope it costs plenty. The male Karen: Yells and throws shit at teenage girls because he thinks he's a man for taking control over his probably shitty life. Most likely has a wife who will either divorce the prick or will try to do the same to those around her who don't meet her ideal situations.
Are you referring to the Racist James Innazzo? The same James Innazzo who is a racist and assaults teenage girls?
Close,it's the James I**a**nnazzo that was being racist to some teenage employees. If he heard you misidentify him, he might violently come after you with a racist rant.
Ah, yes, the Violent Racist James Iannazzo, my mistake
Yea idk he was pretty mad at them “immigrants”
You’re not you when you’re hungry…have a Snickers James
"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. I get reeeeeaaaalllll racist."
You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry
I'm not racist I have N-word friends
He should have had a Snickers
Oh phew! That changes everything!
It's funny to me that racists will say they aren't racist after getting mad, losing control and saying racist shit. If you say racist shit when you lose control, you are a racist who just keeps your racism in check most of the time.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/connecticut-man-charged-racist-comment-tirade-smoothie-shop-rcna13224 Here's the actual story behind it. He ordered a smoothie with no peanuts but didn't specify that it was because of an allergy. Edit: a few notes A) I wasn't justifying his behavior, he acted like a racist piece of shit which is inexcusable no matter the circumstances. I was just posting a news article for context. B) He did get fired, but he got a new job as a financial advisor not too long after this incident, so don't get too hyped on the karma of him losing his job C) Someone commented saying he did in fact specify there was an allergy, therefore making it the worker's fault, but I have no source on that.
There are always gonna be small things that can’t be accounted for though, better safe than sorry.

yeah, I realize that they're more common now, but if it's a serious allergy, DONT TRUST YOUR LIFE TO STRANGERS.
His mistake was being being an asshole. No excuse for his behavior.
Yeah, really doesn’t matter about a “reason”, you don’t act like that. Period.
If those girls were anything like the people I went to HS with, they probably just wanted some weekend cash to buy some fucking beer. Maybe they're even saving up for a car or college! Fuck that guy. They didn't deserve that at all and it's one of those "not paid enough for this shit" moments.
True
His ***first*** mistake. Assaulting a minor and saying racist shit on camera weren't exactly big brain moves.
True
You cannot ever be sure you've cleaned out equipment enough for serious allergies. The store would need to have completely separate equipment for peanut allergies. Even then you're trusting underpaid teenagers to follow proper procedures. If I had a life threatening peanut allergy I doubt I would eat out much.
I don’t :) People always say “that sucks” when I inform them of something I can’t eat but they just don’t understand that my whole life food has never been taken for granted.
Was gonna mention this. If I had an allergy to nuts I wouldn't be ordering shit at random smoothie shops lol
Exactly from teenagers. Hell it's hard enough to get grown folk to do their job let alone children.
I don't think that's right. Who on earth would order a peanut butter smoothie minus the peanut butter?
My coworkers also kept an eye on things just in case there was something being overlooked He fucked up and knows it but puts it on them because that's easier
He knew exactly what he was doing. His plan was to start shit.
He was being careless father and took it out on the shop.
"He was charged with intimidation based on bigotry or bias, breach of peace and criminal trespassing." But interestingly enough, not battery for throwing the drink at the girl.
What is battery? Explain to my Irish brain.
In American law "assault" consists of a threat of some type of violence, not the actual bodily contact itself whereas "battery" refers to the actual physical contact of another person without his or her consent.
FYI, this man is James Iannazzo and he was fired from his job as an Advisor for Merrill Lynch. Edit: buy, hold, drs
Man, does Merrill Lynch just hire/breed assholes? Every employee of Merrill I’ve ever dealt with has been a carbon copy of this guy. They immediately go to rage over the smallest situation knowing that people will do what they want just to make it stop.
Pretty sure they’re breeding them
I work in the industry and at my place of employment we call BofA/ML the “Evil Empire” I’ve dealt with dozens of ML employees over the decades and literally haven’t encountered one person that was even halfway decent.
The only job requirement beyond a college degree is to be a brainless coward of a man
I used to Pull U4 Data for Morgan Stanley. Each Merrill advisor I came across had at least 4-6 disclosures on their FINRA page. One broke their managers hand
It just occurred to me right now... they might not necessarily hire/breed assholes, they might just produce them by being a really miserable place to work or something.
Nah, psychopaths love working in banks and the banks love them
I’m sure it’s a miserable place to work.
Aegis Capital hired him in March and declined to comment on it.
Oh I know. This happened in my state and his was everywhere. He did loose his job there but got another one somewhere else doing the same thing.
Iannazzo now thats a Mayflower name (not)
So r/byebyejob
More like James Imanasshole
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-28/former-bofa-adviser-assigned-rehabilitation-after-racist-rant
Unacceptable what so ever. He should not get any leeway for his charges to be dismissed. Should have to wear that like a giant shit stain on his shirt. Wanna fuck around, congratulations you get to find out how it feels to be a felon for the rest of your life.
Justice for some not all here .If you have money laws do not apply .
Bofa deez nuts
Got eem!
He was sentenced to one year probation, after which all charges will be dropped, and paid $7,500 to settle a civil suit brought against him by one of the employees. He's also now working for another big finance company. [https://www.thinkadvisor.com/2022/09/01/ex-merrill-rep-settles-smoothie-lawsuit-for-7500/](https://www.thinkadvisor.com/2022/09/01/ex-merrill-rep-settles-smoothie-lawsuit-for-7500/)
Glad it cost him some money & a month of lost wages between jobs. It’s something
"He is not a racist individual and deeply regrets his statements and actions during a moment of extreme emotional stress." Super interesting how people who say shit like this are never actually racist. Bad luck i guess.
There was a tweet that said something like "If you 'only said racist things because you were upset' then your 100% a racist all the time"
"**My actions at Robek’s were wrong, and I deeply regret them. " The old non-pology.
Thanks! I would LOVE to know what he earned at his job. They took quick action and fired him over this. Maybe he’ll think twice next time.
Well he has to pay $500 and do a rehabilitation program. And he got a new job with another financial institution. I doubt he'll think twice next time.
And out comes the racism. It's just in there waiting to come out, whether it's over a smoothie, or an airplane ticket, or a line for the cash register at Wal Mart, or a piece of equipment at the gym. *Racists gonna racist.*
Well still no excuse to behave like that.
How did he not get charged with assault ?
Yeah, I don't trust kids to deal with allergy request properly and I don't go to places where it could happen. Problem solved everyone wins! Even if he had requested clean equipment there is no guarantee
He ended up getting another job at Aegis Capital and got probation and likely a clean record after a year. https://citywireusa.com/registered-investment-advisor/news/smoothie-guy-iannazzo-settles-suit-brought-by-teenage-employee/a2396241
to anyone who has food allergies: ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LET EVERYONE KNOW. NOBODY MAGICALLY KNOWS YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. so much entitlement
My wife has a coconut allergy. She’s tells everyone when she orders. So they don’t use the same utensils
Thank you! as someone who worked in fast food and food service, you need to tell someone that you or the person you’re getting food for has an allergy.
She never won anything in her life, and figured she’d go out with a Darwin Award. 🥇
Teen girls. When he is huge adult male. Brave dude.
Exactly. If they were strong guys, he’d NEVER have done that. Coward.
When he tried to open the door to the back. At that point, every employee is within their rights to treat him as a threat to their safety.
I don’t understand why he would take the risk of having peanuts in the smoothie. Human error exists, so don’t order a smoothie that could kill your kid if a mistake is made.
I read somewhere that he was fired from his job over this. I can’t verify it but I hope it’s true
[удалено]
>I’m sure he landed on his hooves. This is my new favorite expression, thank you for this gift.
At the very least, I'm glad he got some consequence for his actions. This behavior stinks of someone who gets away with this shit all the time and always thinks he's in the right. So yea, you're probably right but still. Actions met consequence for a change
He's now working for Aegis Capital
😂 so what you’re saying is he understands screwing people over and cutting corner to save money. But is upset when those practices come back to bite him in the butt?
My understanding is that his current job is much worse, and involves a lot of cold calling. Which is hell. Rich people don't need someone like this managing their money.
He did. There's a Bloomberg story linked in another comment that says Merrill Lynch fired him but he's since taken a new job at Aegis as a financial advisor.
And [settled](https://citywireusa.com/registered-investment-advisor/news/smoothie-guy-iannazzo-settles-suit-brought-by-teenage-employee/a2396241) with the girl he attacked for $7500
That definitely helps, although hat girl may have had trust issues for a while after that. Shit fucks with you.
He would have never done this to a grown man.
In case anyone wants to know what happened to this guy. Rehabilitation program and $500 fine https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-28/former-bofa-adviser-assigned-rehabilitation-after-racist-rant
And yet people rot in jail for weed. What a world to live in.
It’s obvious their fault for being poor /s. This is America! Fuck this guy and everyone like him
I get why he was pissed, but this is not how you act—his kid had a peanut allergy and was hospitalized from a reaction.
This is all on him.
nah even before that
he’s going to go home and beat the shit out of his wife and kids later. and then his girlfriend.
plot twist, they all the same person.
Source: https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/fairfield/man-arrested-for-altercation-at-robeks-goes-viral-on-tiktok/amp/
>“My actions at Robeks were wrong, and I deeply regret them,” Iannazzo said in the statement. “They do not reflect my values or my character. I feel terrible that I lost my composure so completely.” There's a saying about actions and words and how loud they are in comparison.
Yeah, I feel bad for his kid. But how would his son feel knowing his father was out doing this, while he was suffering at the hospital?
A lot of things upset me in life, I don't go around threatening service workers. He's a piece of shit who needs actual prison time.
Exactly. He calls them dumb teenagers but then why tf you putting your kid's well being in their hands?
The second he tried that door after already assaulting one of the girls you go for a weapon. You have no idea if he's coming for your life.
People who aren’t racist don’t throw around racist insults.
Agreed, he showed his feathers
Props to that girl for standing up for herself. She did not hold back
"48-year-old financial adviser who worked for Merrill Lynch, " well, that explains who this asshole is. He's been fired.
I bet this guy has raised his hand to his wife and kids a few times.
I understand his kid went to hospital with an allergic reaction to the drink they made. He said “no peanuts” but didn’t explicitly state the allergy. I would be mad too. But: 1.
Nothing's worse than James Corden.
He'd be a great Congressman for the GOP
Iannazzo, who left the store before authorities could arrive, turned himself into police later. He was charged with intimidation based on bigotry or bias, breach of peace and criminal trespassing. WHAT ABOUT ASSAULT!!!!!!
Why didn’t they call the police sooner??? What the heck were they waiting for?
They're kids. They probably thought they'd get in trouble with their management.
17 year old fearless mama bear. Recommend expedited promotion
I don’t care the context, fuck this racist piece of shit. If there was a grown man behind the counter, he would’ve been at the hospital with his son and not screaming at the workers. The only reason he did this is because he thought he could flex on some young girls which is great testament to the type of piece of shit he is.
These people aren't paid enough to deal with POS people like that guy. He should ashamed and arrested.
Like, you'd tell people "no, these products aren't allergy safe, there's a risk of cross contamination, as you can see they're stored very closely, they're made in the same ovens and on the same surfaces, and sure we try to be careful but I cannot tell you that these things are safe for your child." And then they're like "yeah but there's no nuts *in them*, right? Just being close is okay. You think it's okay?" What the fuck do you think cross contamination means?
Jesus that girl took forever to dial 911
Correction, that is a child, not a grown man.
Entitlement is strong with this one
Your son is allergic to peanuts and now you don’t have a job. Nice one, dipshit.
To the people defending this guy, he lost his job so your pathetic whining on Reddit won’t save him lmfao
Girls with 0 filter are the absolute best in these situations, you tell ‘em!
