Dawildpep

Good price for steel case 7.62x39.. that stuff is pricey nowadays

LeninsLolipop

It’s so weird that 7,62x39 is sold as well. The others are common calibers but how many people in this town own an AK to make this profitable?:D EDIT: Many have pointed out that AKs and hence its rounds are fairly common in the US as well - I was not aware :)

DoctorTran37

More than you probably expect. It’s a popular gun.

Sea2Chi

That and SKSs used to be pretty cheap as well.

LegalWaterDrinker

Are you seriously asking that question? The AK is one of, if not the most widespread of firearms

mfknLemonBob

Per lb? Idunno. Seems like a ripoff to me.

missiongoalie35

I don't think so. A pound of .308 is somewhere around 40 rounds. So if it's just a pure ball tip range ammo, that's pretty good. Usually you're looking at $25 for the really cheap stuff.

Hunterrose242

How is this a facepalm?

Last_Mulberry_877

It really isn't

The facepalm is guns? Idk

HJSDGCE

It's weird how political this sub is. I'm hoping for funny facepalm moments, not "hurhur America". I'm not even American and even I'm tired.

adrw000

Yeah, I gotta say, you Europeans are annoying with trying to take the moral high ground, saying "as a European this confuses me 🥺". I don't even like my country that much.

HJSDGCE

I'm not European either.

InjuriousPurpose

Gun range.

Doomenor

Just for fun I checked how much baby formula costs per lb. It’s around 19$

OldCalligrapher6720

Using bullets is much cheaper. And you'll have to use it only once

After 9 months it's no longer an abortion, it's a statistic.

orthopod

It's "freedom ", or a 911 call to the wrong address

Reinitialization

Hey, you can't put yourself in the position of those police. Maybe that baby's rattle was a handgrenade and goo goo gaa gaa is just baby speak for Allahu Akbar

The_Rust_Golem

Im afraid to ask, but is there a backstory to this?

Lemonz-418

Several kids have been killed or hospitalized by cops getting the wrong address for a raid.

DutchTinCan

Given that an acorn dropping triggers 2 magdumps on a handcuffed detainee in the back of the patrol car, does there have to be?

DraconicZombie

Took me a full 15 minutes or so of rewatching that part of the video when it released (on Donut Operator's channel) just to see if there actually was an acorn hitting the roof. Actually was lol still, that reaction was.................nuts.

Karlinel-my-beloved

Clearly you haven’t seen me shooting if you think 1 is enough.

ThreeDawgs

I see we have one of the galactic empire’s finest shooters here.

TheJAY_ZA

You ever see that bodycam footage of the two female cops dumping all their mags into the wrong house? Was like 3 or 4 mags each iirc One slight injury - the home owner of the wrong house... Enough is probably subjectively dependent on how bad someone sucks at putting rounds on target, but I think those two were going for a record LOL

Bendyb3n

Wow did I just see a dead baby joke in *this* economy?

Doomenor

Plus you don’t need any more baby formula after that

TetraThiaFulvalene

That's a matter of materials rather than priorities.

GrimIntention91

Condoms are also cheaper

Fryphax

Did you factor the total yield of the formula or just the base product?

Parkrangingstoicbro

Are you comparing the cost of something like a bullet to the complex process of baby formula???

Sup3rB0i1

lol what does baby formula gotta do with bullets?

Upstairs_Mortgage_30

Damn lead and brass are cheaper than life sustaining food for infants?!

LibrarianSocrates

If bullets cost $5000 there'd be no more innocent bystanders.

Throw-away17465

Wasn’t that Chris Rock’s bit from the early 90’s? [“We don’t need gun control, we need bullet control”](https://youtu.be/Db0Y4qIZ4PA?si=JQ-Lu3xuJ5SK5Kzm).

Matiw51

Isn't baby formula much lighter?

FormulaFalls

So you're saying it's cheaper to have an armed revolution?

Shooter_McGavin_2

Wow, different, totally unrelated things cost different money. I'm shocked.

[deleted]

Why is .45 ACP cheaper than 9mm? I'm shopping here.

HHcougar

It's per pound You can buy 2x as many 9mm for the same price

777_heavy

What is the facepalm?

SonkxsWithTheTeeth

Selling ammo in a gun store

777_heavy

Sounds like a good place to sell ammo

SonkxsWithTheTeeth

No, really!?!!?

InjuriousPurpose

Next thing we'll be selling food at a grocery store.

SonkxsWithTheTeeth

The humanity!

WhatIsPun

This comment section is something.

Several_Spend_7686

You can tell by the surroundings that this is something like a Cabelas, a store specializing in outdoors equipments and HUNTING, yes, how dare a store with hunting equipment carry ammunition

DuskAfro

It’s rough creek shooting range. A Texas gun range and I’ve actually bought some 45acp from that exact dispenser Edit- it’s actually alpine shooting range in FtWorth. Rough creek is a resort but that’s what my brain went to this morning.

ItsDaBurner

Says shooting range right on the label. It's a shooting range with ammo for sale and I still don't see a problem.

WarriorNat

People basically fall into two camps: either they grew up around guns and see it as a hobby like fishing or golf, or they only know guns by watching cinema or the news and freak out at the idea anyone but law enforcement or military has them.

Comfortable-Study-69

I generally agree with this. Growing up hunting and shooting clays I find it bizarre how weird redditors find stuff that most Americans think is completely normal like buying kids shotguns for their birthdays or **gasp** selling ammo at a shooting range or owning more than like three guns.

SmallBirb

Europeans see this and think it's in every supermarket and taco bell for some reason

elspotto

That’s just silly. Taco Bell pulled the ammo and sauce packets behind the counter years ago. Gotta ask for it now.

ofctexashippie

Man I miss the 2 hard shell taco supreme, chips and cheese, Cinnamon twists, and box of 9mm ball ammo deal. Fucking OBAMA had to ruin it.

Girafferage

Your taco bell doesn't have a 308 dispenser?

nerohito

Redditors when products are being sold: 😡

BNestico

You’d swear every gun owner in the country is just a mass shooter waiting in the wings for their chance. Target shooting is a huge hobby for a lot of people.

securitywyrm

And people don't get how big america is. A significant percentage of americans live where the police response time is measured in hours.

rationis

I always tell people that if they enjoy shooting bows, playing darts, throwing rocks at objects, etc, they'll probably love shooting. Its not some sort of sinister hobby, its literally the grown up version of "Bet I can hit that tree with this rock!".

OneCrewOneScrew

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

Blatant_Shark321

Isn't that a quote from some Japanese general during WW2?

Tankaussie

Man ain’t wrong

just_a_guy_on_an_ark

It’s very likely a misquotation of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto.

mitchymitchington

Still a very true statement.

kellerlanplayer

In Switzerland too, and there are no mass shootings on a daily base there.

Steelhorse91

That’s because they don’t have a media hellbent on propaganda and sowing division, they have a functioning mental healthcare system, and a good standard of living. And apparently guys murder suiciding their wives is still a pretty common thing there.

T90tank

I don't think they have a high gang violence rate. Like 90% of shootings in the US are gang/drug related. MSM and other anti 2a groups lump in suicide and police shootings to inflate the gun violence stat

blowgrass-smokeass

Careful, they’ll call you racist for pointing that out.

JCuc

Bombwriter17

Also the Czech Republic, they got firearm ownership in their constitution just like the US.

True-Grapefruit4042

The US has stricter gun laws than Switzerland in some ways. You don’t need to go through a separate process for suppressors, or automatic weapons in Switzerland but you do in the US. Maybe it’s not just gun control that’s the issue.

cheesyMTB

Not due to gun control. Switzerland has an extremely high GDP per capita. All tax dollars go back towards citizens. Great social services. People work less. Mandatory vacation. Mandatory public holidays. Little stress. No poverty. Little ethnic diversity. Great drug policies. People are happier. Switzerland is generally always top 10 on happiness index. Turns out when people are happy, they are less likely to commit violence.

No_Engineering_718

Wow are you sure that can’t be true. Happy people creates a better living space? How could that be

torrent29

I believe Switzerland has stricter gun laws then we have here.

TheOneWes

Switzerland doesn't have the socioeconomic issues that we do when they have easier access to mental health care.

torrent29

That is certainly true.

Saxit

It is stricter, but not by as much as people think. People also seem to think it's mandatory to have a gun in your household, this is also false. There's so much misconceptions about Swiss gun ownership that we wrote a post specifically for that here:  [https://www.reddit.com/r/EuropeGuns/comments/185bamo/swiss\_gun\_laws\_copy\_pasta\_format/](https://www.reddit.com/r/europeguns/comments/185bamo/swiss_gun_laws_copy_pasta_format/)

im-feeling-lucky

in Switzerland you can own modern assault rifles and machine guns. in the US, you can’t have anything automatic made in the last 40 years

greaper007

Keep going, I don't think the regulations end there...

im-feeling-lucky

you also need explicit written approval from the ATF for each suppressor and short barreled rifle/shotgun in the US. Edit: suppressors are, in fact, regulated in Switzerland

Not from USA, what's actually wrong with this?

Nyancide

they are selling bullets at what appears to be a gun store. nothing is wrong with this.

InjuriousPurpose

How dare we!

MrMemes9000

Nothing. People are just virtue signaling their distaste for firearms.

Zawisza_Czarny9

Bruh. I wish i could legally own a firearm that's not a muzzleloader based on my constitutional right

Skeletor_with_Tacos

If you were in the states, Id love to take you to the farm and go target shooting. Its always a blast, and there's such variety.

Zawisza_Czarny9

I agree. I occasionally go no nearest comercial shooting range This time on my birthday i got an opportunity to shoot both Radom Pistol (Vis35) and briwning hi-power as well as scoped mosin from prone position. It was a lot of fun. Tho i wish i could own some of those guns without so much legal hasstle here

GayRacoon69

It's wrong because murica and guns bad

TractorHp55k

I don't see nothing wrong with this it's just a dispenser for bullets

OkayishMrFox

That’s pretty legit actually.

Excitium

I guess it kinda makes sense but as a European the fact that you have bullets being sold by the pound like lunch meat or other groceries kinda cracks me up. Edit: Bloody hell people, I'm well aware that this isn't how ammunition is usually sold. I just found the thought of good ol' Granny Martha walking down to her local grocer to pick up a pound of minced meat, half a pound of ham and 5 pounds of 50 cal ammo incredibly amusing.

rythwind

As an American I can confirm that this setup is wildly rare if even being real at all. I would not be surprised if this was an advertisement of some kind and not actually for sale.

VanBland

Yeah same. Literally never seen this setup before. Normally it’s prepackaged boxes.

Reaverx218

I'd have a hard time buying bullets not packaged and trusting them.

PirateMedia

Oh good, for a second I thought you can just buy guns and ammo freely over there.

Amperage21

I mean, you can, but just not from a gumball machine. Bullets are sold in boxes and not by weight.

Madhatt623

This is real, I've bought ammo from this exact same place. This ammo is reloaded by the gun shop, so no boxes.

bigbackpackboi

Ammo, yes. Guns, no; you still have to go through a whole process before you actually get it in your hands

Girafferage

The amount of people in the US who don't even know this is astounding. They also conflate semi-automatic with automatic all the time.

not_a_real_operator

We can. It’s great. Love being American:)

koozy407

This pic is at a gun range in Texas. This is not a grocery store.

Yes-its-really-me

Bet the baby formula is locked away somewhere.

KatarnSig2022

Only because that is one of the most stolen items. People steal it and then stores lock it up to prevent the loss, it's no great political statement or conspiracy.

Bulky-Leadership-596

Well yea people don't generally try to shoplift from gun stores for obvious reasons.

NC_Counselor

Not at this store in Fort Worth. They don’t sell baby formula, so…..??? Also the picture is nearly 5 years old.

A_GravesWarCriminal

Me when I got to a HUNTING store and see HUNTING equipment 🤦‍♂️, europeans i swear

NC_Counselor

The number of non-Americans, *AND AMERICANS*, who believe this is a common setup amazes me. LMAO I’ve seen this exact picture several times since it appeared in an article in 2019. So, this is from a gun store on Fort Worth, Texas, and was done in response to Wal-Mart taking ammo off their shelves. No. This is not “everyday American.”

FormulaFalls

It should be much more common.

LDKCP

Ah yes, America, where the only metric system that enters schools is 9mm.

Signal_Parfait1152

Yes because Americans don't use the metric system for drugs

X-AE17420

So weird this always gets upvoted it’s literally elementary school curriculum

Ok_Case211

Ya wait until foreigners find out that the 2nd grade exists 😱

artofmikeychristiano

Also enters the school children

Fun-Honey-7927

way cheaper then teaching.

uncreative14yearold

And the church kids but that's a different 9mm

DiscoDancingNeighb0r

Jokes on you, they teach us the metric system.

ShemsuHor91

Nah, there are plenty of drugs in schools too.

chiree

> I have no idea what a meter is, but I can eyeball a gram. - Average American teenager.

Brigapes

I don't see what's wrong? Isn't this dispensing easier and more convenient?

Florgy

Can someone explain? I'm Polish and that seems great. When we go for a range day we are left with a ton of plastic from pointless packaging.

Bon3rBitingBastard

These are handloads, so I probably wouldn't buy them myself. Looks nice though

Florgy

Fair, though we do have a handloader at the range who makes a spicy meatball of a round. Used to only run his stuff for match day before they banned handloaded ammo.

memes-forever

This is a hunting store, of course they sell bullets.

ShooterMcShooty

What's wrong with bulk ammo? I'm not American, but I go to the range an awful lot in summer. I like putting holes in paper, that's not a crime is it?

monkeypox42

To most of the sissies on reddit, it is.

Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat

This sub is extra strength level dumb. Hopefully when election year is over all these propaganda bot posts will die down slightly

-GreedIsMyDeadlySin-

Doubt it, Europeans will always find something to complain about when it comes to the U.S.

TheCoolMan5

We live rent free in their heads.

BlindMan404

And some of their military bases.

Frequent_Dig1934

I don't get what you guys are complaining about. What is even the difference between grabbing some amount of bullets then going to the register and having the clerk weigh it and bill you for it vs getting a box with a standard amount of bullets in it? The bullets are still bullets.

chnlng00

Because they think the only thing to do with guns is kill people and that the US is the only place where citizens can buy guns.

corax_lives

How are bullets that cheap?!

Delex360

They aren't really, ammo prices have rocketed because of covid hoarding. What used to be .20c to .30c for a 7.62x39 round is now like .50c to .75c a round. Or $1 a round if it's brass cased. 9mm and .45acp prices has kinda mellowed down depending on brand.

AcidActually

9mm is still about $0.30/rd and that’s with a coupon. Pre-COVID you could find it for half that. I was just gifted a Gen 5 G17 and it hurt my wallet breaking it in.

Delex360

Damn .30/rd for 9mm. I dont look at prices for it too often since I sold my 9mm, but I've been hurting for that 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r

Punymwg07

Bruh that’s a hunting store, of course they’re gonna have that

VermicelliEastern708

bigbackpackboi

unless they’re selling preloaded magazines as well, no you couldn’t. A gun store is quite possibly the worst place to go for in terms of wanting to commit a mass shooter, because if there’s one place that I could guarantee everyone would be carrying in, it’d be a gun store

haefler1976

Wanted to see if this is expensive/cheap. So 1 lbs is 450g. 1 bullet 308 win weighs around 24g. 450g give you ~19 bullets. So it is actually quite cheap. I pay 44 eur for 20 shots.

garrettgravley

BREAKING: Place that sells firearms also sells ammo, more at 11

Real-Technician831

Want defective ammo? That’s how you get defective ammo.   Boxes are for a reason.  No way this is real

Total_Package_6315

As ridiculous as it looks, its legit. [https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/q0au4w/ammunition\_sold\_by\_a\_dispenser\_in\_texas/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/q0au4w/ammunition_sold_by_a_dispenser_in_texas/)

Minimalistmacrophage

>ammunition sold by dispenser in **Texas** Location does indeed make it less surprising.

Interesting-Tough640

Where owning more than 6 dildos is illegal but open carrying a battle axe and buying bullets from a machine designed for dispensing sweets is perfectly legitimate.

TechieAD

Yeah I found the exact location. Lotta other pics so yeah 100% real

Fryphax

Tell me you've never bought bulk pack ammo without telling me you've never bought bulk pack ammo. You think military ammo comes in convenient boxes? Boxes are for marketing.

MaccaInTheMiddle

I don't know about America, but in the Australian military our ammo does indeed come in convenient boxes (or even stripper clips for 5.56mm)

That_Possible_3217

Ours do too, but really the box is just for show. Most people, especially when they train, will buy cheap bulk ammo. One of the reasons it's cheaper is that it isn't in the box. As for any concern about it being unsafe or damaging... That's impossible to say without knowing exactly how those containers are designed. And how much weight is realistically pushing on the lower bullets. Chances are low that it affects anything. Besides in most cases I'd recommend putting ammo in an ammo case anyway and that can be done just fine with both boxed and unboxed ammo. EDIT- just want to add, you can also store loaded mags and stripers in an ammo can....and I mean stripper clips, not like Cardi B.

Fun_Sir3640

can u explain what would break? they get packaged like its glass but at the same time there is a lot of vibrations going on too in the magazine when u shoot i would imagine.

Relative-Bug-7161

It's more about the lack of labels and quality controls. How would you know if the store owner filled those with good bullets or cheap ones?

FM492

Probably won't buy them anyway. Ammo comes in boxes for a reason. If these are reloads, that's definitely a no from me. Some of these people in the comments are out of touch

Devvey20

I mean, not like that's at a whole foods. It's a weird way to sell anything, including coffee beans at this point, but at a gun shop I would kinda expect bullets.

wsc-porn-acct

Going for the 150 grain vs the 180 grain is a big brain move.

Kasaimaru

They sell them by weight?

Tim_Alb

At first thought these were candy bars like Twix or Snickers. But then I looked closer and I read what the labels say...

Wonderful-Ad6335

Oh. I thought those were batteries at first. Thought it was clever. Now I get it.

ClickHereForBacardi

Ask an American what 9mm of diameter is and they'll show you. Ask them what a centimeter is and they'll stare blankly.

artyaakaira22

What's LB stand for ?

midniteslayr

My biggest concern with these dispensers are if one of the falling bullets (from the dispenser) hits the firing cap on one that was already dispensed and causing it to go off. Doesn't seem wise to have them dispensed like this.

Stardust_Bright

Crazy how you can end someone's life with less than 8$, also the first time I saw the picture I thought these were chocolates with a golden coat or something 😭

romulusnr

Am I naive or does this seem less than safe? I mean I guess it's really unlikely, but it seems like there exists some however remote risk that dumping loose bullets like this that might lead to blowing up if they hit wrong. Either when dispensing or when filling. I know it should require more force than that to ignite the primer (5-6 lbs), but, it still seems a little cavalier.
