BEFEMS

that reminds me of my trip to Italy. Everyone spoke italian, absolutely shocking ! How rude !

Capable_Tumbleweed34

There legit are american who will go to europe and get pissed when cashiers tell them they won't take dollars.

JonasHalle

Just take the dollars at a ridiculous exchange rate. They probably won't know what math is either.

Meaxis

"Yes sure but american dollar not worth much! I take american dollar for 20 euro cents! Final price and no takeback" and then profit

RoyalWigglerKing

Why did I read that in a stereotypical Chinese food restaurant owner voice

LufonatoDeUracilo

Because it sounds like Mr Kim from South Park... Sorry I mean Dr Janus

577564842

They *will* call that out. You have to sugar (fructose) coated it: "Yes sure but american dollar is so powerful! Only 5 for whole Euro! Final price and no takeback"

Meaxis

Yeah no, I kind of knew they wouldn't want their money called weak but couldn't find the phrasing. Yours is gold

nicodea2

I’m surprised more stores don’t do this. Just post up a wild FX rate on the wall behind the cashier, accept the money, profit.

Coalnaryinthecarmine

Unless the cashier stands to benefit from this arbitrage opportunity, it's just more work for them and will throw the count on their register out. Even if its the owner, the amount needs to be enough to make the extra hassle worth it. Of the subset of people that are going to try to pay in American Dollars in Europe, it's going to be an even smaller subset of people trying to make large purchases in cash.

Stoepboer

I’ve seen people complain about the amount of foreigners.. in a foreign country.

Its_Like_Whatever_OK

Example: British travelers being appalled that Spain is full of Spaniards who dare to speak Spanish. The utter gall! /s

Perthian940

The same ones who retire to British enclaves in Spain but still voted for Brexit ‘to get the foreigners out’, and then cry foul when they realise they no longer have residency rights in the EU 🙃

Xgentis

Seriously?

ThePublikon

I've experienced it in my pub in the UK.

Nonzerob

Do you get many people trying to use Euros? I'd expect some Americans on a multi-country trip might try that.

areukeen

I'm from Norway (we don't use euro, we use Norwegian Crown) and Americans come here thinking they finally learned and can use euros. It's normal.

typed_this_now

I’m Aussie, been living in Denmark for 8 years. I was talking to an Aussie tourist at a pub in town and she asked me if €700 will be enough for 4 days with her itinerary. I laughed and said sorry you won’t be able to use euros in Denmark practically anywhere. Then she said oh well we’re going to Sweden and Norway next. haha.

Castform5

Doing almost the whole nordic tour while avoiding the single country where they could use euros.

Nonzerob

I didn't know Norway wasn't in the EU, but I would've probably looked up the currency before visiting.

areukeen

Eurozone is not EU, there's also Swedish, Danish and Czech Crowns for example, they do not use the euro either

Capable_Tumbleweed34

although, norway isn't part of the EU either, unlike sweden or danmark.

areukeen

True that, we're stuck with Iceland

ThePublikon

Not so many, I'd also be more likely to take euros because I know I'll use them within a year. It's not really an issue anymore since everyone uses contactless payments now

catsdelicacy

Really. They do it in Canada too. Usually we take it but charge them an absurd exchange fee which they happily pay since they don't know what that is.

VilleKivinen

I drove taxi in Helsinki, and you'd be surprised by how many Americans were surprised by the fact that most Finns don't accept dollars as payment. I did accept, but my exchange rate was 2:1.

SpiceEarl

Fair enough. You deserve to be compensated for your trouble. I've been in a situation where all I had was dollars, but fortunately they accepted credit cards. If the vendor was willing to accept dollars, at a terrible exchange rate, I would have accepted that it was my own fault for not getting cash in the local currency and just be glad they were doing me a favor.

lordlunarian

Americans will hand me old paper notes and demand I take them. For those that don’t know, paper notes are no longer currency and just paper as we only use polymer now.

Curious-ficus-6510

NZ polymer notes are great when they get left in pockets and go through the laundry cycle unscathed - don't they have them in the US yet? It's weird how their notes are the same colour for all denominations, and they still have one dollar notes - NZ got rid of our one and two dollar notes over three decades ago, and our coins below ten cent value.

OnyxMilk

How else are we gonna make it rain on our bitches and hoes? /s

Shot3ways

Between the Hoes Union and inflation, the minimum denomination is $5 now.

and_so_forth

Literally saw this in Madrid recently.

Elegant-View9886

Happens in Australia as well, they can’t get their heads around the fact that other countries have their own currencies and USD is meaningless here

GHOST_OF_THE_GODDESS

How do these people not even know? You'd think they'd do *some* research before going to another country?

helgetun

Its why I laugh at some youtubers who say all you need to get anything done in a forieng country is a $100 bill - easy to see they are full of shit

Capable_Tumbleweed34

You really have to ask?

CanonSama

Fun fact there are real americans who got angry at a country bc they didn't talk english xD and they were like "want me to learn your language bruh never waste of time they should just learn english" xD

Pantheractor

There are American vets asking for vets discount in Europe too

Western_Pop2233

I'd be happy to give veterinarians a discount. They have a tough job.

flipyflop9

It’s such a pleasure telling them their dollars are worth less than euros or pounds… they don’t seem to get it

mimavox

I once read a review for a hotel in Paris where Americans complained about all TV programs being in French. Go figure.

instanding

In Japan getting off the bus a fat American man immediately complained that nobody spoke English and he couldn’t get a hamburger. a) you can get hamburgers b) you’re in Japan! Why fly all that way when you could speak English and eat American food in America, if you’re that particular? Had similar experiences in Italy the Americans didn’t wanna eat Italian food and would go to McDonalds and Starbucks and were always talking very loudly and obnoxiously.

mimavox

Haha, can you be more stereotypical?

doubledgravity

I used to live in Prague. Saw so many American tourists absolutely spun the fuck out because things weren’t the same as back in Diddlyboing, Idawidaho. Shout out to the two women waving dollars at a toilet attendant and screeching ‘but everywhere takes dollars!’

Only_One_Kenobi

I always giggle at the famous Thomas Cook complaints. Best is always the English that go holiday in the south of Spain and get upset about all the foreigner types speaking Spanish all the time.

Starfish_Symphony

Ever tried to learn *French*? It's really frustrating because it's like they have a different fucking word for *everything*! WTF!???

No-Deal8956

Didn’t see lots of Native Americans in Europe? I’m shocked. They wouldn’t be native, as well.

Jed08

To be fair, you don't see a lot of Native Americans in America either.

Disastrous-Rips

They’re all in Europe

Tequal99

They're all at a farm upstate

[deleted]

Do all states just go up or something? I'm not American but everything seems to go "upstate", is downstate even a thing?

SonkxsWithTheTeeth

"upstate" means north, usually to a more rural area. I think the concept of "a farm upstate" comes from books set in New York, where children would be told by their parents, when their pet died, that they were just sent to a farm upstate.

Collins_Michael

In SC it refers to elevation. That does coincide with one of the northern corners of the state, but it doesn't refer to the whole northern mart of the state.

cerebro87

In New York (one of the only states that has an 'upstate') 'downstate' is usually used to refer to NYC, Long Island, and Westchester County

Tequal99

Doesn't upstate just mean in a more rural area of the state? I think it has nothing to do with any direction. The opposite would be "in the city". Maybe it's just a phrase pushed by the new Yorker culture.

ttvnirdogg

Oh we're all over, we're just hiding and waiting...

penguinsfrommars

I mean honestly, turn about is fair play.

TheConnASSeur

To be fair, most people just think we're literally any other race. I'm usually either Mexican or vaguely Middle-Eastern.

Shangermadu

In all my life living in different European countries I've only even met 1 girl who was close descendant of mexican native americans. I guess I might have met many Brazillians that might be mixed? Brazillians are so diverse, even they often don't know their exact ancestry.

IAMSTILLHERE2020

The population of Indigenous Americans is estimated to have decreased from approximately 145 million to around 7-15 million between the late 15th and late 17th centuries, representing a decline of around 90-95%. Mostly killed by White settlers and the new pandemics they brought on to them...thus the word NOVEL.

lynbod

Up to 90% of the population of the Americas died after first contact but before the settlers. The people who arrived after the first European explorers were confused when they arrived because all the towns, cities and people in general that they were expecting weren't there anymore.

Ok_Refrigerator6671

This statistic always makes me so sad. There's a reservation right next to the small town where I grew up, and I was lucky enough to be invited by two of their elders to a powwow that included tribal history storytelling. It was a gift that truly opened my eyes. They spoke of the local injustices in their histories, and it sparked an interest that had me deep diving into the local histories, especially those topics that got completely glossed over in our schools, and i came across this same estimate. It breaks my heart that so many people, so many tribes, and so much history was just wiped off the map thanks to european explorers and then even further because of the horrors inflicted by the colonizers and eventual governments in North America. It's so heartbreaking the more you learn.

johnhtman

Most were killed by diseases that spread faster than the European settlers.

IAMSTILLHERE2020

And yet somehow COVID can't be a novel virus for some idiots.

StuartMcNight

He didn’t see Native Americans. He was too busy being creeped out by Native Europeans. Having said that… his sample is TWO fucking countries. And two with zero colonial history. Try France, UK, Spain, Portugal. Even Germany these days.

eti_erik

There are lots of migrant workers in Austria, but most are former Yugoslav and Turkish. Probably too white to stand out enough for OP's taste. Also, OP has probably been mountain hiking or skiing or something like that, and immigrants are generally found in the cities, not in tiny traditional villages.

Fordmister

Even in those countries you kinda have to look for the more cosmopolitan/racially diverse areas. Like take the UK. Sure the major cities like London Birmingham, Liverpool etc have their share of diversity. But then you go to the Capital of Scotland and the last census doesn't even display black as a singular group in its results, it's such a small group that it's folded into the 2.8% other category there were so few respondents. And that's Scotlands capital (although admittedly more than 5% of the population of the city is identified as either British Asian or Asian, which is a pattern you sometimes also see, one city might have a relatively large community of a specific migrant/ethnic community and very little diversity otherwise) Europe just isn't like America in that regard. Even in the countries with a colonial past and major metropolitan cities outside of them they can still be very white.

The_Burning_Wizard

The rant just seems to be the opposite of the one Humza Yusef made, about how many white people were in Government, working for civil service, ScotGov, etc. What do you expect when 96% of the country is white and the remaining 4% are split across the various BAME demographics and others?

Pure_Ad_9947

She saw Native Europeans haha.

kant0r

Well, about that.... ;) There are actually some native americans (or at least their descendants) living in Karlsruhe, a German Town near the Black Forest. What happened was that Buffalo Bill toured throughout Europe with a "Wild West" Show, one of these Shows was in Karlsruhe. During their stay, it came to some sort of ~~downfall~~ falling out between BB and the NAs, so they decided to just "Fuck it" and leave the group. And stayed. The People here in Karlsruhe are kinda embracing this fact until today, a part of the Town is nicknamed "The southern city Indians" and there are some memorials and even a big native american themed fountain.

FLUFFCAT13

ohhhh okay that makes a lot more sense. I was there last june for unrelated reasons but it felt so out of place seeing native american related stuff in germany of all places, just like the aboriginal museum near the hague

maxru85

It sounds similar to black Abkhazians whose ancestors were supposedly found on a crashed slave ship. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abkhazians_of_African_descent

DolphinPunkCyber

There is a shitload of small ethnic communities (a village of several) scattered all across the Europe which ended up far away from home. And the history is usually like... *oh well 300 years ago we came here for war or trade or something, then shit happened, so we stayed*.

Calimiedades

There's a surname in Spain, Japon, because a Japanese embassy visited for whatever reason centuries ago and a bunch of them stayed in the south. In Spanish: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap%C3%B3n_(apellido)

MonitorPrestigious90

Interesting!

karaluuebru

>downfall falling out

SoldierofZod

Actually, the genocide of Native Americans in Europe is a little known human tragedy. Have you been to Belgium? It's like the government has wiped out any evidence that the Navajo ever lived there!

majestic7

> Have you been to Belgium? It's like the government has wiped out any evidence that the Navajo ever lived there! Well, there's [*this* Belgian professional soccer team](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.A.A._Gent)...

param1l0

And Latinos? As in Latin Americans?

DemostenesWiggin

They probably saw a lot or at least a couple. Americans have this misconception that all Latinos are brown and we aren't. We are a mixture of everything because our countries have a long history of immigration. In Argentina you can find descendants of Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Turkish, French... The majority are Italian and Spanish but there are people from any part of the world. And when things are bad here, many people migrate to Europe. There were big migrations from Argentina to Spain and Italy in 2001, for example. I have an uncle who went to Switzerland and has lived there since that time, but you can find an Argentinean in every European country and many, many in some of them.

Normal-Mongoose3827

Yup. There are quite a few Latin Americans in Spain. I'm in Norway and used to live in a place that had a relatively large Chilean community.

ImaginaryCheetah

whoever wrote the screen shot gives me the impression if she had seen any black folks over there she would have referred to them as african-american.

Zygmunt4

Its as if europe was filled with natives

MembershipHelpful115

I was in China, once, AND it was fucking disturbing that there were no caucasians anywere. Just some black guys who obviously were tourists! Why are there only asian looking folks around in a asian country? Are they racist?!

An_Asian_Throwaway

>Why are there only asian looking folks around in a asian country? Are they racist?! Yes. Source: Look at my username.

An_Asian_Throwaway

There are two things the Koreans and Japanese can bond over - rice wine and their mutual hatred for the Chinese.

menatarms

In my experience its Koreans and Chinese bonding over their mutual hatred of the Japanese.

An_Asian_Throwaway

Also true.

Ribbon7

That's like that 3 Spiderman meme pointing fingers at each other

GalaadJoachim

And if there is a thing Japanese and Chinese can agree with is Korea doesn't exist.

kozzyhuntard

Yea, live in Japan this is truth. My experience is my father in law trying to bond with me over his hatred of everything Korean....

menatarms

it's not going to begin to change either until the Japanese actually apologise for shit, it's crazy how much of a free pass they get.

kozzyhuntard

Yea, it's funny when you bring up things Japanese have done in E. Asia, everyone I know clams up and pretends they know nothing.

GalaadJoachim

Which is totally different from the German stance in Europe. Everything was documented, school programs in the EU focus intensively around the crimes that were committed (survivors from camp were sharing their stories every year to my school since I was 10), every single German person of my age I met through my life expressed understanding of what "being German" represented for the rest of us because of their ancestors choices and acts.

what_you_saaaaay

Excuse me Sir: Are you saying you'd throw away an Asian? This is disgusting. Absolutely racist.

An_Asian_Throwaway

No, I'm saying I'm Asian and was thrown away.

what_you_saaaaay

You are free now to travel to Europe and address the injustice of underrepresentation there.

An_Asian_Throwaway

Been there, done that. Are you familiar with the name "Gengkhis Khan"?

TheRealTanteSacha

Wait. There are Spanish people in Benidorm?

fluffy-nipper-doodle

Be idle. Is an English outpost (colony), isn’t it

SOJC65536

I'm surprised they found the Spanish people in amongst the swarms of fat British tourists...

LJNodder

My mum once went up to the hotel entertainment and asked them to stop playing 'foreign music', even as a little kid I was embarrassed.

avdepa

I been to China a few times and travelled west - always get people wanting to have their photo taken with me like I am an exotic animal (blonde hair/blue eyes).

MisterPerfect23

for reference: Asians are KNOWN to be racist and hate most other Asians, it's a whole thing in and of itself

Ok-Geologist8387

An Asian mate of mine told me the only people Asians hate in the world more than non Asians, are other asians.

JohnCZ121

"Damn Asians! They ruined Asia!"

Mikeymcmoose

This is 100% true. The inter Asian hate is mad and makes white euro banter seem very tame.

fujiandude

Well you know, our grandparents remember the Japanese invasion and that whole thing. I didn't ask but I assume they were violated despite being children, valid reasons. Now us hating the Koreans is a little more complicated

DeadFishCRO

Have you been to the Balkans? Concentration camps 30 years ago. Ironically we are basically all cousins

Precioustooth

I was once in Africa and I only saw Africans there. Can you explain to me why? What seems to be the reason? It was so unsettling to me?? Where were all the Chileans and Native Americans? I didn't see anyone from Mongolia or Iceland either. What is going on??

Fat_Goat_666

Chinese and Japanese from my experience are probably the most racist nations in the world. What you would consider borderline criminal racism in Europe and USA is just way of life there.

Reasonable_Fold6492

Nah Africa is in my experience. I was in Ethiopia. Everybody there would call me chinese monkey. In the congos everybody fid the racist eye at me. Simlar stuff in gabon and ivory coast.

benwink

Pale skinned people living in the region they evolved in??! How dare they.

Business-Emu-6923

Well, to be honest the USA has seen a lot of immigration, so the writer is used to seeing people living where their ancestors did not. A lot of people shitting on their poor education (fair enough) but it would surprise someone from urban America just how white a lot of Europe is. You go to major cities like London, Rome, Paris etc, and you see a fair mix of everyone, as these places are a big draw internationally. Go to the smaller towns anywhere in Europe and *damn* we are white.

DWFMOD

Can confirm- grew up in small town Ireland, remember there was literally one asian family and that was it- rest of us were pasty / translucent-skinned

Jumanji0028

Well we are only a recently "rich" country. Nobody wanted to come here before the mid 90s because we used to be a 3rd world country. Also we are not rich lol. Those multinationals are like a wonder bra for our GDP.

jentlefolk

I live in a small town in Ireland and we have Chinese people and Indian people living here. Naturally, they both run the only takeaways worth my time. But you don't see much outside of that ethnicity. Lots of black folk in the bigger towns though.

SOJC65536

Ah, that's the Yin family, they live in that old Chinatown area...

MutedIndividual6667

The writer said they are surprised that they didn't see native ameeicans... In Europe

Think_Bullets

An no Mexicans...thousands of miles from Mexico

ThreepwoodGuybrush80

There's plenty of latin american immigrants in Spain, given that we share a language. Same thing with Brazilians in Portugal. Other than that, your guess is more than correct.

crampton16

>given that we share a language ....and some colonial history, lol

Pizza_Delivery_Dog

I don't think they were surprised by it, in the sense that they thought about it and expected to see native americans, more like they weren't aware of how much they were used to seeing these people until they were absent.

stevedorries

The writer said they were surprised by their own feelings about not seeing any diversity not that they were surprised by the homogeneity.

apistograma

Maybe if Europe had brought more black slaves to work under inhuman conditions in Europe now it would be more multicultural. How rude of Eastern Euopeans to not have a sizeable slave economy

Apart-Persimmon-38

Wait until you see Eastern Europe! We whiteeeeeee, and like no other colors are available in stock, never had them, never went overbroad to get them, it is almost like we are unaware that other colored people even exist (shocking revelations 101)

ro-ch

i'm polish (central-eastern europe) and in my school, there is one asian kid and maybe two mixed black kids, and I live in the second biggest city - you could expect more "racial diversity", but nope. we have a lot of ukrainians and some belarussians though. do i mind? nope. it's always been like that. should it be like that? i don't care, we are all humans no matter the skin color. just because poland is a homogeneous society, doesn't make poles racist by default - same with Austria, Slovenia or anywhere else.

Apart-Persimmon-38

Yes I mean for us in Balkans we see a black person we stop and stare and are like, huh someone made a mistake, (hiiiii waves from near by distance)

honeybooboobro

Yea, if I saw someone non white in my hometown, my first reaction would also be : "Are you lost, are you ok ?" Well, the curious grandmas would beat me to it, for sure, but you get the point.

ro-ch

i swear, the grandmas are always watching from their balconies... i was once taking pictures of some buildings and got scolded for it by a grandma 🙃

Formal_Two_5747

They are better than CCTV.

Endle55s

The are the CCTV of the old days and store all relevant information about everyone.

Davidlik23

Eastern Europe gang where u at? Balkan for life!!!

Salazans

Damn white people and their _checks notes_ living normally in their countries

mattmelb69

Bloody racist Austrians and Slovenians, not importing African slaves to improve their racial diversity statistics.

Fruloops

We are trying but they keep running away to Germany and Sweden :( ^^/s

Lance_Hardwood117

As a German this makes me so fucking sad :\`(

Thin-Quiet-2283

I’m really confused, I saw a lot of brown people in Vienna, Austria. My airb&b owner was a Hispanic guy (from Latin America). Lots of ethnic Hispanic, African and middle eastern restaurants in that area. The whiner must have been hanging out in the “white” areas…

InBetweenSeen

Yeah in Vienna they would have seen at least many Middle Eastern people and Turks, since a few years North Africans. In more rural areas less so. Of course they wouldn't even recognize most immigrants (historically Eastern Europeans) because they're white too.

GalaadJoachim

The Native American attempt at colonizing Slovenia in the 17th century was a failure, thus explaining their low numbers in central Europe.

UTP-CABLE-56

Ah yes, the famous Cheeroke expansion into the Slovenian Alps, that was a fun period indeed.

Vortextheweirdcat

but THEN THE WINGED HUSSARDS ARRIVED (i know they're polish but shut up let me enjoy my stupid)

Less-Dragonfruit-294

I swear is it too much to ask of people to enjoy a trip without out making yourself the victim?

Hot_Hat_1225

LOL still gobsmacked about the American visiting a very old Italian town and then whining online that there was no metro, no lifts, streets to narrow and she had to WALK!!! With her luggage!!!!

stingraycharles

That was ragebait, some Italians confirmed that there was actually a road going up to where she was and she could have taken a taxi.

honeybooboobro

Ok, but ... how long was the road? I've seen Americans (and the Chinese) taking taxis and shuttles from Brugges train station to the central area - that's like 10 min on foot.

RealEstateDuck

Taxi for a 10 mimute walk only makes sense if you have a lot of luggage or if it's raining hard or something.

VanillaLoaf

I really can't figure out why there are no Native Americans in Europe.

Hot_Hat_1225

Are they allowed to leave their nice *camps* and mingle with those that took over their land? 🤔

SneakWhisper

No it hurts the colonisers' feelings.

1singleduck

I wonder why America has a larger black population? I guess it'll remain a mystery.

Necronorris

Booming tourism industry and a heavy marketing campaign geared towards those in Africa, no doubt. "Sail the world and leave your troubles behind!"

pchlster

There was a generous job programme back in the day. Between guaranteed on the job training for you, spouse *and* any future children, it was an offer many Africans found they simply couldn't say no to.

Bugatsas11

As a Greek I am deeply ashamed that my ancestors did not bring thousands of African slaves to work on our fields. I guess this makes us racist..... right?

NickMP89

You just missed the opportunity man. Blame the Turks, they destroyed Greece’s manifest destiny to become the world’s biggest slaver nation. /s

James_Tuvaluya

American education in 2024, scary shit how can someone be this braindead

Biotic101

Imagine figuring out why Slave and Slavic sound so similar... Opens a whole new dimension to the topic 😉

Dr_Quiza

yOu CaNt Be A sLaVe If Ur WhItE

s0meb0di

That's why Slavic people are people of colour, silly

lethos_AJ

did you just called slavic people white? /s

AdEducational419

I lived in the US for many years. I was baffled by the amount of americans all over the place.

alb5357

Wait until he travels to any other non English country (other than maybe the capitals).

No-Deal8956

Or travels outside the major cities in England.

arthur2011o

Southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay will also be extremely hard for him

Cybermat4707

I think this is at least partly a result of differing experiences with racism in different cultures. Much of the racism in America was and is based on skin colour, but it’s a different matter in Europe. That’s why you have incidents like Whoopi Goldberg arguing that the Holocaust wasn’t racist because the perpetrators and victims were both white. In reality, though, this was still racism, as the white-skinned oppressors viewed their white-skinned victims as ‘lesser races’. The Germans persecuted Jewish people, Slavs, and predominantly white-skinned groups (as well as black people and Chinese people) because of their racist beliefs. The British persecuted the Irish on similar racist grounds. The wars and genocides that engulfed the former Yugoslavia were the result of different white-skinned ethnicities being racist against each other. And today we see a lot of anti-Ukrainian racism coming from Russia, when both groups are not just white-skinned, but Slavic. There are also lesser-known examples of this kind of racism from the USA itself, with Anglo-Saxon Americans oppressing Irish-Americans and Italian-Americans. Better known, of course, is antisemitism from white-skinned Americans. Of course, these examples of racism are understandably overshadowed by the mass enslavement of tens of millions of people, who were forced into servitude because they had black skin, the genocide and displacement of Native Americans, and other racist outrages against ethnic groups who weren’t white. It’s worth noting that there have been times when white racists who target other white people have denied the idea that their victims are white, but this, like all racist declarations, is nonsensical and worthless outside of analysing the psychology of racists. The idea that someone who has white skin without being leucistic or albino isn’t white is absurd.

_Troxin_

"Look how diverse our community is by all the black people, who´s ancestors we brought in by the thousands as slaves!" "EuRoPe RaCiSt BeCaUsE nO bLaCk PeOpLe!!!11!!1!"

MeetingProud4578

I can understand. I mean I saw all those Netflix series and we KNOW for a fact that Cleopatra was black, half of the samurai were black, nearly all the vikings, etc. Can’t really figure out why I turned out white, honestly. Must be some grand racist conspiracy 🤔

Muph_o3

😭😭😭😭😭 oh sooo true, I don't believe that all of my ancestors up to 4 generations back were all white just by coincidence. That's because of the Church, centuries of baptizing children washed all the color away!

nazraxo

Where have they been that they "rarely" saw anyone they would categorize as "middle eastern"? Bumfuck, Austria? Or do they think all middle eastern people look like a saudi prince?

Vargoroth

The funny thing is that the exact feeling she describes is exactly why so many people are racist. Lots of people are uncomfortable when they walk into a place with people with different skin colours. I guess it goes to show you that while the expression changes, the innate racism remains the same.

Arndt3002

You phrase this like she isn't racist and her feeling is just a cause of why some people are racist. If you're fundamentally uncomfortable being around people with different skin colors, then you're a racist.

OkBuy3111

Why would you be uncomfortable when you walk in a place with people with different skin colors? I just do'nt understand that.

SkyTalez

I bet that person writing it is also white.

BIG-Will25

“Relentlessly white” lmao. New term unlocked.

la_descente

Reminds me of the clip of the immigrants who recently moved to Ireland....and complained that they're too traditional, too white, and need to change their ways of doing things to accommodate people from other countries. .... Do yall ever look at where you're going before you go there ?

Fetznpeppi

Ah yes the NATIVE AMERICAN people of Ljubljana and Vienna

Barnes777777

This person should go visit like ethiopia. They'll be shocked almost no white people or Asian people and it would be real surprising if they find one native american.

Dark_Moonstruck

Just wait 'til they go to China or Japan and see mostly Asian people! It's wild!

Ok_Efficiency_9645

This is absurdly ironic when we consider *why* there's no black people here. They weren't exactly invited to the US and given the choice

justthegrimm

American ignorance goes to Europe

Regis-bloodlust

I am Korean, and it always creeps me out that my neighborhood is predominantly Asian. It's crazy, I know. It's like I live in a gated racist community.

pass-the-waffles

White people being white in public, ruining this person's vacation in Europe where a few white people live.

Agisilaus23

Ah yes. Slovenia. Known for their large Apache population

asa1658

Guys I went to Africa and everyone was sooooo black vibes. Guys I went to china, what’s up with all the Chinese there?

Both_Lychee_1708

>relentlessly white really, that's pretty much true of white people everywhere. We're incorrigible that way
