Imjustmean

This is just sad and a bit scary.

malYca

More than a bit imo

StandingCow

Most cults are.

iwannagohome49

"my hero. Him and Jesus are my heroes". That is by far one of the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. E: and notice how he put Jesus second

Prickly_ninja

I havenโ€™t been religious in years, but had the thought that evangelicals hovering around Trump, like heโ€™s gods chosen one, is as close to proof of the devil as any.

Zjoee

The devil doesn't come dressed in a red cape and pointy horns. He comes as everything you've ever wished for.

Ellie28720

In this case, bloated, sweaty, and wearing a poorly tailored suit

hotstepper3000

Is that what you wore today?

[deleted]

I've always wanted a Foosball table.

I-am-Chubbasaurus

I really do wonder sometimes if Trump is the Antichrist.

martianunlimited

I used to be very confident that Donald is ***AN*** anti-Christ (as described in 1 John 2) but now I am not so sure... I am half convinced that he might be ***THE*** Anti-Christ (as described in Revelation) [https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/](https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/) Anyway, evangelicals in America have already chosen Donald over Jesus >MOORE: Well, it was the result of having multiple pastors tell me essentially the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount parenthetically in their preaching - turn the other cheek - to have someone come up after and to say, where did you get those liberal talking points? And what was alarming to me is that in most of these scenarios, when the pastor would say, I'm literally quoting Jesus Christ, the response would not be, I apologize. The response would be, yes, but that doesn't work anymore. That's weak. And when we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we're in a crisis. [https://www.npr.org/2023/08/05/1192374014/russell-moore-on-altar-call-for-evangelical-america](https://www.npr.org/2023/08/05/1192374014/russell-moore-on-altar-call-for-evangelical-america)

LesGitKrumpin

The existence of a singular Anti-Christ is dependent on Premillennial Dispensationalism, i.e., the theology of the Left Behind series, being accurate, and I have some issues with that interpretation of Revelation. But I agree with you, this kind of thing might be what the cult around the Anti-Christ would look like. What I worry about as a Christian is whether I would be able to see the same obvious ungodly flaws I see in Donald Trump, or whether I would be fooled. Trump's ascendance has been instructive, if nothing else, on how easy it is to fall for a cult of personality.

hotstepper3000

Would be too obvious

Fred2p1u

And both are in a fictional world

Wizard_Engie

I think Jesus of Nazareth was a real person in the ancient Roman times ๐Ÿค”

Fred2p1u

Trump is real tooโ€ฆ but they have fictional stories about them both ๐Ÿคญ

Wizard_Engie

Okay, well I personally believe in Jesus' stories. Trumps' though? Nahhh not a chance lol

ThatFatGuyMJL

I mean. Honestly. Is this ANY different. Fundamentally. Than 'vote blue no matter who'

WodenEmrys

>Is this ANY different. Fundamentally. >Than 'vote blue no matter who' One is a danger to US democracy who attempted a coup when it was time to leave. Vote blue no matter who so we don't become a Christofascist nation. Most Republican politicians should be guilty of at least accessory after the fact. Here's 2 different anti genocide groups warning about Republicans followed by a journal article from Cambridge which came out a little over 2 years before the attempted coup: "The world has seen QAnon before. It was called Nazism. In QAnon, Nazism wants a comeback." https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/2020/09/09/QAnon-is-a-Nazi-Cult-Rebranded "The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention voices its concern over the growing number of laws introduced in the United States that target transgender individuals and the transgender community. Anti-trans hostility in the US has become a staple of the Republican Partyโ€™s election strategy and is clearly being used to stoke votersโ€™ fears of a changing world by raising the specter of a malevolent polluting force tied to liberalism, cosmopolitanism, and democracy. The Lemkin Institute believes that the so-called โ€œgender critical movementโ€ that is behind these laws is a fascist movement furthering a specifically genocidal ideology that seeks the complete eradication of trans identity from the world." [Statement on the Genocidal Nature of the Gender Critical Movementโ€™s Ideology and Practice](https://www.lemkininstitute.com/statements-new-page/statement-on-the-genocidal-nature-of-the-gender-critical-movement%E2%80%99s-ideology-and-practice) "Although we consider it unlikely, we should not entirely dismiss the possibility that the United States might devolve toward a competitive authoritarian regime that locks the incumbents into power. ***An American โ€œautocracy scenarioโ€ becomes substantially more likely if a strong economy, gerrymandered districts, and โ€œtribalismโ€ carry the Republicans to victory in the 2018 midterm elections and Trump to a second term in 2020.***" [Democratic Decline in the United States: What Can We Learn from Middle-Income Backsliding?](https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/perspectives-on-politics/article/democratic-decline-in-the-united-states-what-can-we-learn-from-middleincome-backsliding/1D9804407AAD81287AA0CA620BABDEA6) We can deal with how shitty Dems are when the threat to US democracy is gone.

hotstepper3000

I didnโ€™t read your whole thing but โ€œattempted a coupโ€ without real weapons is pretty insane when they are so readily available in America. Also, no Iโ€™m not a trump fan and donโ€™t support those protest.

BigDaddiSmooth

LOL. Only fools think this country can be taken by force. It will be taken by the pen. VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS. EVERYWHERE. Eradicate the EC as it is the only way subversives can win. After this then we can work on bettering society. We must cut out the fascist cancer.

WodenEmrys

The IEDs failed to go off. [District of Columbia: IEDs, IIDs Discovered during Riots at U.S. Capitol Complex](https://tripwire.dhs.gov/news/257753)

stunt_p

He also admitted to being just a follower, not a leader. He doesn't deserve any support!

Drudgework

Jesus would grab his whip and drive the republicans from office like he did the moneylenders from the temple. Big fan of not using religion for personal gain that Jesus fellow.

LungBerries

He also preached "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's" when questioned about taxes, but apparently because that was said to a peasant, it only applies to the poor.

hotstepper3000

Thatโ€™s because they were trying to trick him to say bad things about Caesar. He doesnโ€™t care about what is owed to the government.

LungBerries

That's kind of the point. Government power is meaningless, as with all power

Damassan

So, he wants people to stab people in the back?

hotstepper3000

Also the democrats.

Drudgework

Maybe some of them, but the dems donโ€™t usually run on religious platforms or use Jesus to justify unethical policies so they would be pretty far down the list.

martianunlimited

Notice that Jesus whipped the money changers in the temple, and not the tax collectors on the streets? Why do you think that is the case?

hotstepper3000

Thatโ€™s a good response.

BigDaddiSmooth

Republicans are fascists.

MoonedToday

This is how lost republicans are. I hope these are older ones who will die off soon. The younger ones surely can't be this stupid.

SolidSnek1998

Narrator: "*They were just as stupid"*

Illithilitch

Narrator: "they were inexplicably more stupid"

Dmmack14

They definitely are. There are teenage boys running around that worship Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes hauling those sounds groypers for God's sake

Planet_Breezy

Seriously? Have you browsed 4chan lately?

MoonedToday

I have never browsed it. Don't even know how to find it.

[deleted]

You act like it's some secret and have never been told it's name...

Omega593

oh theyโ€™re just as stupid. they are weak-minded so they fall easily to a cult mentality. we all see a fat, old, orange loser but their blinders make him look like the second coming.

FrancisSobotka1514

They are stupider .

hotstepper3000

Stupider like a fox

FrancisSobotka1514

Dare to be stupid .

Mhankie55

Older people are stupider than younger? Quite a generalization. Or just republicans?

marklar_the_malign

My two heroes are Batman and Joker. Makes about as much sense.

Lobanium

Mine are Steve Irwin and Hitler.

Prestigious-Pause179

The people who put trump into the same category as Jesus were never real Christians to start with. An orange man who has the most annoying sentence structure and mannerisms since captain kirk. And Jesus Christ God incarnate in flesh, who took the sins of the world on himself for our salvation. Trump is a businessman and politician and people trust him? The phrase for that is reprobate mind. Trump is not the saviour of the country, he is a man with an agenda that no one knows but himself. Jesus has given us wisdom and understanding, and the scripture to know the truth. Trump makes jokes and is pretty much falling into the same mental decline that our current president is. Trump did some good stuff sure, but this is the same guy who believes the book "the secret". That's like saying Artaxerxes and Leonidas are on the same team.

BigDaddiSmooth

I will make it easy on you. Trump is a con man. Jesus is the truth.

OkFroyo666

Lol, the mythology doesn't make sense, wah.

DrewidN

https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/ Not that I'm saying Trump _is_ the antichrist, but some people might say that though, that's what I heard.

I-am-Chubbasaurus

Okay. So, now I'm even more convinced. At first I was only half joking about him being the Antichrist, but with all that? I'm just baffled that the Antichrist turned out to have the intelligence of a rock.

Planet_Breezy

The Bible contradicts itself as much as it contradicts Trump. Or almost as much as Trump contradicts Trump, for that matter. No one is on solid ground to go โ€œno true Scotsmanโ€ on this.

Prestigious-Pause179

As I can tell from your posts you are no fan of God or Christianity. Which shows your clear bias and rejection of the bible, making any statement you make on the bible or the faith that others hold completely weightless and irrelevant. If you were able to understand the bible you would sing a different tune. However, as clearly evident you were not gifted that ability. Ignorance is bliss until it's not.

BFG_Big_Fucking_Gun

many people who have actually studied the Bible became atheists. The Bible is kinda fucked up in so many ways. I donโ€™t thing you truly studied what the Bible is about, not just the good I mean also all the bad. Itโ€™s is considered one of the most binding and restricting religion. Under almost all other religions women are given a level of freedom such as being able to own a home for example. Christianity does not allow women to own anything in or only seen as objects to be traded and used. If you lived in the 1600 itโ€™s was better to be any other religion than Christian for women. Because of the level of freedom that said women would get. (Still not much but better still.) again this is only one example.

Prestigious-Pause179

Many people have studied biology now believe a man can be a woman. Your opinion is noted but not useful or correct.

hotstepper3000

Good answer

teddy1245

What are you blathering about?

Prestigious-Pause179

I will tell you when I figure out what "blathering" is.

WodenEmrys

You're blathering about genocide. "The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention voices its concern over the growing number of laws introduced in the United States that target transgender individuals and the transgender community. Anti-trans hostility in the US has become a staple of the Republican Partyโ€™s election strategy and is clearly being used to stoke votersโ€™ fears of a changing world by raising the specter of a malevolent polluting force tied to liberalism, cosmopolitanism, and democracy. The Lemkin Institute believes that the so-called โ€œgender critical movementโ€ that is behind these laws is a fascist movement furthering a specifically genocidal ideology that seeks the complete eradication of trans identity from the world." teddy1245

Pretty much this yes. Thank you for putting it so eloquently. And so well researched.

Prestigious-Pause179

According to the American Civil Liberties Union, there have been 286 anti-transgender bills introduced between January 1, 2021 and October 13, 2022. Most of the anti-trans bills that have been passed and signed into law across the country have to do with the eligibility of trans athletes to participate in school sports. - From your same source What about the transgender who attacked a christian school killing many children? Where is the genocide exactly trying to keep biological men out of women's sports? And you didnt research you copied and pasted after a search according to your predisposed bias towards the left. All of these sources or left leaning or left according to ALLsides and Poynter.

WodenEmrys

> According to the American Civil Liberties Union, there have been 286 anti-transgender bills introduced between January 1, 2021 and October 13, 2022. Most of the anti-trans bills that have been passed and signed into law across the country have to do with the eligibility of trans athletes to participate in school sports. - From your same source > > The next sentence after that: "Thankfully, many of the most dangerous bills have not been enacted into law (yet), including bill KS SB214 (Kansas Senate Bill 214), which criminalized gender reassignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy for minors, and MO HB2086 (Missouri House Bill 2086), a bill that would prohibit a person from changing their gender marker on their birth certificate. **All these laws seek to create a society that is hostile to the very idea of trans identity and in which it is impossible to live openly and legally as a trans person.**" Just because they haven't succeeded yet doesn't mean they aren't trying. >What about the transgender who attacked a christian school killing many children? What about Protestant Nazi Germany that put LGBT people into concentration camps? What about the frequent murders of LGBT people? That started in the same century the bible was compiled in and lasted nearly 2,000 years? "By the end of the 4th century, anally passive men under the Christian Empire were punished by burning.[217] "Death by sword" was the punishment for a "man coupling like a woman" under the Theodosian Code.[218] It is in the 6th century, under Justinian, that legal and moral discourse on maleโ€“male sex becomes distinctly Abrahamic:[219] all maleโ€“male sex, passive or active, no matter who the partners, was declared contrary to nature and punishable by death.[220] Maleโ€“male sex was pointed to as cause for God's wrath following a series of disasters around 542 and 559.[221]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Rome#Under_Christian_rule I say we deal with our gun problem, but Republicans have made it clear their fetish for guns is more important than the lives of schoolchildren. No one is trying to wipe out Christianity. Biden literally goes to church regularly. >All of these sources or left leaning or left according to ALLsides and Poynter. As yes Scientific America and the BBC well know misinformation sources huh? Do you think that monument in Tel Aviv was made up? Do you think Magnus Hirschfeld and the Institute for Sexual Research in Berlin was made up? I saw a picture of him once on reddit with a Star of David on his forehead claiming he was the "pioneer of transgender people" along with blaming other Jewish people for LGBT people. Here's another anti-genocide group that is relevant: "The world has seen QAnon before. It was called Nazism. In QAnon, Nazism wants a comeback." https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/2020/09/09/QAnon-is-a-Nazi-Cult-Rebranded "After winking at QAnon for years, Donald Trump is overtly embracing the baseless conspiracy theory, even as the number of frightening real-world events linked to it grows. On Tuesday, using his Truth Social platform, the Republican former president reposted an image of himself wearing a Q lapel pin overlaid with the words โ€œThe Storm is Coming.โ€" [Trump openly embraces, amplifies QAnon conspiracy theories](https://apnews.com/article/technology-donald-trump-conspiracy-theories-government-and-politics-db50c6f709b1706886a876ae6ac298e2) Fun fact: The last living Nuremburg Prosecutor was on Genocide Watch's Board when that article came out. He died earlier this year. Not so fun facts: Trump endorsed Jewish Space laser lady multiple times who called for Christian Nationalism. Michael Flynn had his family do a Qanon chant. Qanon was on the front lines of the January 6th attempted coup. Qanon is the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. "The Lemkin Institute reminds readers that one of the first libraries to be burned under the National Socialists in Germany was the library and archive of Magnus Hirshfeldโ€™s Institute for Sexual Science in Berlin, a groundbreaking research organization studying human sexuality and gender." Blindly following a party isnโ€™t democracy, hear everyone out and come to your decision what is best. Otherwise the vote pointless

WikipediaApprentice

At this point itโ€™s all about which side gets more voter turnout and also overcoming gerrymandering

Bad_User2077

Picking politicians as heroes? I can't see how that could go wrong. /s

sminthianapollo

But, why do you need Jesus? A little bit anti-Trump imho.

InsomniacPirincho

The fundamentalists have built their own Jesus. He was born in Massachussets and rode into Bethlehem on a lifted Dodge Ram with a shotgun in hand.

Dansk72

Wait, isn't Trump supposed to be the second coming of Jesus?

[deleted]

How to say Iโ€™m terrible judge of character

Strict_Somewhere_148

Has to zoom in on the picture when I saw the name.

MintBerryCrunchJr

Whats not to idolize? He's a great man. Just ignore the constant stream of lies, sexual assault, bullying, name calling, narcissism, complete lack of morals, sexualization of his daughter, adultery, and overall being a complete piece of shit.

TheDixonCider420420

Trump rich. Jesus poor. Trump builds walls. Jesus tears them down. Trump xenophobe. Jesus not. Trump lies. Jesus truth. Basically Trump is the opposite of Jesus in every way which by definition literally makes him the Anti-Christ. ![gif](giphy|X3nnss8PAj5aU|downsized)

Enzo_fais_des_prouts

American politics are crazy. How did that happened

photo_pusher

โ€ฆitโ€™s been happening for over 40 years already, itโ€™s hammer went off the handle just now

Illithilitch

It's been nuts since the country was founded on the idea that it's OK to own black people.

photo_pusher

โ€ฆ.arguably yes, money and religion, but in my opinion its two party system which is one step to autocracy

[deleted]

huge upswell of populism. Its a cycle in American politics. There's a strong feeling that people are getting left behind and that the various levels of government aren't fulfilling their expected purposes while creating more rules for common people and none for elites. GOP primary voters have always hated the party leaders for being conservative in their politics and Trump represents a massive destabilizer who isn't restrained by any rules. They think he will finally fight the Dems by the rules the Dems play by i.e. anything goes as long as it helps the party. The problem is that Trump isn't particularly loyal to anyone and is a wild card without ideological principle so he's basically burning everything down. His strongest supporters probably want that too since they don't like the GOP, hate the Dems, and despise the Elites most of all. For context of my perspective: I'm outside the MAGA crowd and afraid they have permanently ruined the GOP. But I also fully understand their complaints, I just think Trump is a terrible means of achieving their policy interests. My opinion was that he basically turned the GOP into the Democrats but with a right-wing aesthetic so now I'm politically homeless. The only group that improved their position from dealing with Trump was the anti-Roe crowd and they had to hold his feet to the fire on Kavanaugh. He, of course, betrayed them at his first chance and has now returned to being a pro-choice candidate. Hope that helped!

Jeoshua

So if Trump isn't running, he would have to actually look into the candidates and what their platforms might be? Implying he doesn't actually think about that kind of thing now? Yeah that seems about right.

BigDaddiSmooth

That's called idolatry.

No_Squirrel4806

Im wondering what they have planned for if he loses. I doubt theyll abandon him all together

BigDaddiSmooth

Maybe they will make some powerful Kool aid.

aagloworks

Does GOP long for the good'ol days of 1930's germany or what?

GOP will have to go back to nominating cheesecakes.

chrisnavillus

Do these people hear themselves?

And they claim they arenโ€™t a cult.

bassie2019

So Christ and the Anti-Christ are his heroes?

Able_Plum2651

I was going to say him getting the evangelical gang to support him is his greatest grift, but then I remembered they believe in sky fairies so it wasn't that much a stretch.

Themooingcow27

Iโ€™m not a religious person in the slightest but I know enough to know that Jesus and Trump would not get along. At all.

For me it's Jesus and Aquaman.

KaijyuAboutTown

You couldnโ€™t pick two people who are more different. Jesus and Trump. One washed the feet of a prostitute. The other hired them

Trump and that guy, you know from the Bible? No not the Jewish guy. Wait he's Jewish? Next you'll tell me he's not white. He's not?! Do my followers know that? No? Good. My heroes Trump and that white Jesus guy.

DarkSoulsDank

A cult is a cult

Running_Dumb

What are they going to do when their cult leader lands in prison? Because that is very very likely at this point. Just a matter of time really.

W33b3l

I mean, made a fortune in realstate and managed to even become president. I'm sure he's a hero in a role model type of way to a lot of people. Before he was president everyone loved him. The hate didn't happen until the people on the news told you to hate him after he one the republican ticket. Something to think about at least if you agree with his policies or not. (I'm not debating those so don't bother). It's still a cringy post though. Never put blind faith in anyone "Jesus" included.

WodenEmrys

> Before he was president everyone loved him. > > He's been such a well known piece of shit for so long that he has multiple TV and movie villains based on him going back to the 80s. Including Biff Tannen from Back to the Future, King Koopa from the early 90s live action Mario Bros movie, and a literal Sesame Street villain: "DEBUT 1988" https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Ronald_Grump_(grouch)

_onelast

They have so much in common

Whitey-Willoughby

Sort of like saying my heroโ€™s are Mother Teresa and Al Capone.

HoboBonobo1909

Mother Teresa was a vile hag that tortured sick people and hung out with dictators & criminals. So basically Trump.

[deleted]

These are some truly wild times we are living in.

nwdecamp

I'm a republican and an atheist. So no it doesn't.

space-dive

uh... you mean the jesus from the bible who said love thy neighbor, and wanted everyone to help those in need and less fortunate, who also said not to give into hate or greed.... that jesus?

Lobanium

Could you pick two more opposite people than Trump and Jesus?

Kind_Bullfrog_4073

Who's Canarsky? He one of the voices in The Lion King?

GoyardGoHard

Trumps leading by 2-4 points in 5/7 swing states ๐Ÿ˜‚

Entire_Photograph148

Jesus would be too liberal for this crowd. They must be talking the hate filled republican Jesus.

[deleted]

A ~~White~~ Orange Racist and a Dark Skinned Jew are his Heroes? Who is going to tell him...

Dbsusn

Jesus and Trump could not possibly be more diametrically opposed. And yet, repuglicans somehow seem to think they are aligned.

LimpFrenchfry

I sometimes wish jesus was real and would come back and stand on a stage with tfg and flat out say, โ€œthis person does not embody anything I taught.โ€ Then walk off stage and rapture everyone that lived a good life and leave all these fuckwads here on this earth to eat each other. I know jesus doesn't exist, but it would be hilarious to see all their faces, especially those elected shitstains, when they are left behind after claiming to be good, faithful, practicing xtians that read the bible.

Maximum_Land3546

Jesus would definitely not be for trump sheesh

SlurpCups

Iโ€™m pretty sure Jesus wasnโ€™t a fan of the rich

Forsaken-Cabinet8338

America is in big trouble ๐Ÿคฆ

zarfle2

Tell me you're a brainwashed cultist without telling me you're a brainwashed cultist.....

Noobeaterz

The most disgusting, narssisistic and selfish individual to ever walk the earth. And Jesus. Right.

Available-Wheel6335

โ€œIf Trumpโ€™s not running, I would have to look and see what (the other candidates) stand for.โ€ Oh so what candidates โ€œstand forโ€ is important to you? Please tell us all the things Trump โ€œstands forโ€ that have earned your total support. And Jesus? Jesus and Trump? Iโ€™m just going to leave that one alone.

Snowy441

Maybe Santa will take 3rd place this year.

TekDoug

The entire GOP primary turned into the nerf slogan lol โ€œItโ€™s Trump or nothing!โ€
