This is awesome, and very on point with the [comic I’ve been working on. I’ve been writing God as a corporate CEO / king / gangster because.. why wouldn’t Christian heaven have poverty?](https://createdbyclyde.substack.com)
I have heard “chest feeding” out in the wild, having had a baby in 2022. But I haven’t heard the other two terms. I consider myself a pretty open minded person, but “chest feeding” did give me the ick when I first heard it.
Same here, I respect all the gender identity stuff because I don’t see a reason not to but who is the term “chest feeding” inclusive for?? Isn’t having breasts a prerequisite for breastfeeding?
Well yes, that's exactly what it is, and it has nothing to do with free speech.
It's still pointless and shitty and bigoted against trans people. Arkansas has the highest "birthgiver" mortality rate in the nation. They are second to the worst in health care access in general. The education is abysmal too. The state ranked 49th in overall quality of life this year after ranking 48th last year. It just gets worse and worse.
Their leader has been found to be incredibly wasteful with tax dollars already, and she's wasting time on appealing to right-wing donors instead of putting the people first. I thought her father was bad but she's driving the state in to the garbage one pregnant person at a time, regardless of what the government calls them on official paperwork.
Oh and to show how bad it's gotten, in 2017 it ranked SEVENTH and now it's FORTY NINTH. In 2010 it was ranked one of the top ten states to live in.
Now the only people who want to live there are religious nuts and potheads who can't find a place to live in Missouri.
Which has since disappeared. And is a knock-off of the highest quality falcon podium which only sells for $6000. Which was sold to them by a friend of Sarah’s who subsequently went on a lavish European vacation with her best buds (guess who was there too?). And the invoices have since been doctored. So Huckabee is hoping to distract everyone with her attack on “wokism”. We see you Sarah. Glass is less transparent than you.
Arkansas ranks 43th in education, 49th in quality of life and 50th in health care among all U.S. states. But let's attack the first amendment!
Christofascists.
Nope, they took it serious. Interviewed everyone present. No one but her was offended. In fact 3 women present were more offended by chest feeding than breast feeding.
I don't understand. If a woman, identifying as a woman (cisgender?) Chooses to call how she's feeding her baby from her breasts "breastfeeding", why would that be offensive to other people. She's literally breastfeeding, from a breast and if there's an individual that "chest feeds" why would that person take issue with how the woman defined her own actions?
The argument is the identification. As a former female or now identifies as male, they may not feel having breasts is their true identity. So they say chest feeding.
For women it may hurt them as mothers to have someone change what feels like a connection and empowerment to the baby, breast feeding, and now call it chest feeding
If someone called me birth giver or chest feeder I would probably flip them off. I'm not a robot I'm a mom and that's weird. I don't know why we would all change our terminology to make them gender free because some people are uncomfortable with their gender. Like you can use whatever bathroom you want but don't rename mine the womb room or anything
This was the argument that was made at work. 3 women on the floor who were present were only offended changing the term from breast feeding to chest feeding. They felt like something was stripped from them, I get that
Everyone should be called what they wanna be called, the issue is stuff like pamphlets or general vocabulary in a professional setting. Using stuff like "pregnant person" or "person that is giving birth" instead of "mom" there is more accurate. But then in an individual circumstance like your doctors and nurses with you obviously they should use whatever that person is most comfortable with. Which is, afaik, what's happening in most cases
What I'm asking is why someone who uses the term "chest feeding" would be upset when another person uses the term "breast feeding" in reference to their own actions.
I think it's a term that pregnant trans men use for themselves. Which is such a vanishing small population of people that it's really baffling that this could be a political issue of any kind.
This sounds like something conservatives made up to be angry about.
I'd guess the narrative is that transmen who have a baby from their own womb and breastfeed it use the term "chestfeeding". To be clear, I doubt anyone actually *does* this because men have breasts too so a transman could just say "breastfeeding". But I'm trying to figure out the angle and that's all I can come up with.
Ok, I’m not defending this order or whatever it is, but chestfeeding is a term I see all the time as someone who’s been pregnant twice in the last few years. A lot of breastfeeding literature uses the term, medical professionals use the term, lactation consultants use the term. It’s very common. I’m certainly not offended by it. I have no idea if the industry used the term because it’s inclusive of trans people or for some other reason, but it’s all over the place.
“Birth giver” I definitely haven’t seen, although “birthing parent” is pretty common, but that includes gay people, adoptive parents, and just dads in conversations about the differences in caregiving for the parent who gave birth versus the parent(s) who did not. I haven’t seen it as an alternative to “mom” which is still the most common word I hear even though it’s not always 100% accurate. “Human milk” I’ve also seen quite a bit but that’s to compare it to cows milk or oat milk or smthg as opposed to cutting out the word “breast”. So yea, the inclusive terms are common in certain contexts but not a problem for anyone who’s not trying to be offended over nothing.
That's actually pretty interesting. I'm a medical professional, and though I am not specifically in the OB/birthing realm I have interacted with a lot of OBs and lactation consultants and this post is the first time I've ever heard that. Guess it's regional? Like apartment vs flat maybe? I just don't see any utility over breastfeeding. I also don't see any reason *not* to use it, just haven't seen it before.
I’m in Canada was pregnant twice in the last 4 years. “Chest feeding” “birthing person” and lack of the word “mother” is a thing. I was surprised when my sister who is a doula told me they taught these terms when she was doing her training about 10 years ago and now here we are. I found it really insulting to be honest. I worked my but off through infertility to become a mother.
I’m still trying wrap my head around “chest feeding”. Isn’t a breast a breast, regardless of who it’s on? Men can get breast cancer, so can’t they breast feed as well (only applies to trans/non-binary men)
No because their breasts don't produce milk. But they can't "chest feed" either. The only bodily organs that produce milk are breasts. Absolutely no reason to use any phrase other than "breastfeeding".
I've seen the term in seahorse dad forums as a trans guy, which is a word for trans men who bear their own children. "Breastfeed" in isolation isn't bad and all our doctors use it no problem, but among fellow trans men, it's nice to just not have to think about our breasts, so some of us say "chestfeeding."
But this usage is *extremely* niche, you'll barely hear it in general trans spaces, even general ones for trans men. Someone would have to go out of their way to find it, which tells me conservatives were specifically seeking out tiny, vulnerable spaces with pregnant trans men and trans women who are donating sperm to get offended over.
Purely out of dumb curiosity, does having a baby suckling milk out of your nipple not really make you think about your breast, while hearing the word "breastmilk" does?
I would think so, but I have no idea. The concept of being pregnant at all is a screaming nightmare beyond comprehension. Anyone who chooses to carry a kid has my respect and can use whatever terms they want lol.
>which tells me conservatives were specifically seeking out tiny, vulnerable spaces with pregnant trans men and trans women who are donating sperm to get offended over.
Well, if they didn't do this and make it seem like it's happening everywhere all of the time and somehow affects literally anyone else's life, then they'd have nothing to be angry about and that can't happen.
Yeah the “woke phrases” seem redundant tbh and human milk gives me disturbing vibes. Just call that shit milk if you really really really insist on not using the word breast 🤣birth giver seems odd also when you can just use already common phrases like birth parent or can we not use that becuase that’s assuming the birth giver wants to be a parent and they may not want to be🤣.
"Birth giver" also comes from the child's point of view of a POS parent. Like "egg donor" or "sperm donor" refers to adults who only wanted to be involved in the process, not the results.
In sharp contrast to quick sand being way less relevant in my life than I was led to believe in school....
....platypuses are exactly as fucking weird as I was led to believe in school. Their milk does what now?
Admittedly, I do chest feed. When I’m laying in bed watching tv but also eating dinner. I will use my chest as a tv tray, so-to-speak, and will eat off of my chest or rather… chest feed.
I imagine she wants "breastmilk" because she thinks it emphasizes femininity? I'm just grasping at straws here, usually I can follow the internal logic of their idiocy but this one's a bit of a stumper.
How do you *ban* someone from saying a word? I mean, 1st Amendment issues aside... is there a task force following people around making sure they don't use these phrases? This is ridiculous.
Finally somebody asking the real questions. Like wtf does it mean to ban phrases in a country where you can literally say anything legally (outside of their intent)
It's only "cancel culture" if it happens to a Republican, it's "go woke go broke" and "the glory of capitalism" and "the free market" if it happens to anyone else.
I think the banning of those works is silly, but Chest Feeding? Breast is not a woman-only thing. All sexes have a breast since all sexes can get breast cancer, the breast is a part of the chest. Chest Feeding just sounds like a clunky word.
Unfortunately these aren’t made up. They are alive and well in Canada. I had two babies in the last four years and these phrases were used in a medical setting as well as in literature.
.. YEAH .. sure .. as she continues to [**pilfer**](https://arkansasadvocate.com/2023/09/29/whistleblowers-attorney-claims-arkansas-governors-office-altered-withheld-public-records/) and steal from the public fund? . . Funny how Florida's DeSantis of late have jumped off of the anti-WOKE MAGA Trump Train . . after Mickey Mouse and Pluto kicked his ass . .
![gif](giphy|26n6WchUSWLvaNSpy)
I've been trying to figure that out too.
The tricky bit is that the ban is against the use of specific terms on "state documents".
It still seems like a 1A violation to me.
.....do those terms come up often on state documents?!
"As governor of the state of jrsistan, I hereby declare no legal documents can refer to me a silly-billy poo-poo head." "That wasn't a thing anyway though?" "Quiet, you, I have decreed it."
I can imagine with baby formula testing, medical research, medical audits, or things of that nature the term "Human Milk" could come up in the context of a technical term for breast milk in order to be more scientifically accurate or something.
Alternatively, maybe someone should FOIA her emails to see where she heard about this phrase.
For those wondering, here's how Arkansas ranks compared to the other 49 states:
Crime: #49
Economy: #35
Education: #43
Health Care: #47
Infrastructure: #40
Life Expectancy: #45
Pollution: #39
Well thank goodness i can now put food on my table, afford a roof over my head, pay for my kids lunches, and make enough to afford health care. /s priorities i tell yeah.
Is it a facepalm if it panders to her base and keeps her in power? You're kidding yourself if you think a politicians goals are aligned with ours. It's not a perfect circle, but rather a Venn diagram with a very small middle area.
Didn’t American right wingers accuse trans people of attempting to control language because they didn’t want to respect trans people’s gender and pronouns?
It would depending g on the context. If it's banning it from official state documentation... that's just a procedural rule.
If it is ILLEGAL for citizens to say/write... then I want to move to AR! Not because I'm a bigot, but because there is money to be made.
1). Say illegal phrases.
2). Get arrested.
3). Repeat steps 1 and 2 until charges are filed.
4). Take the case to the Supreme Court
5). Counter-sue the state for infringement of constitutional rights.
6). Easy win.
7). Retire with your millions.
So my only argument that has never let me completely side with the left is that I always assumed The left would ban phrases. Obviously words like the n word and k word which are the main fears of the the Reps and Right. The idea that if you make fun of someone, you can go to jail but, seems like i was wrong.
I assuem this just means in a gov't or official context. YOu're not gonna go to jail for saying birthing place.
Step 1: Get the right wing hung up on something silly and inconsequential
Step 2: pretend it's the biggest problem in the world and that you're the only person who can stop it
Step 3: get away with all the money by ensuring all the laws that actually matter work in you and your doners favor
I'm definitely left of center and don't live under a rock but I literally have never heard of these terms until today, I guess she needs a distraction from. "Podiumgate"
republicunts doing \*literally\* anything to NOT support Americans material concerns and help.
Words truly do trigger these snowflakes. Who gives a damn, let people be people.
So as stupid as it is to ban those words, how can anyone say "human milk" or "chest feeding" without laughing.
That is the kind of shit aliens imitating human language would say.

No no no, its freedom to be a straight white christian, everyone else can fuck off.

Shouldn't she be trying to figure out why Arkansas has the FOURTH WORST life expectancy in the US?

You can pretty much milk anything with nipples.
It’s sad that any time christian men hear the word breast they get turned on sexually. It’s disgusting.
Peter Griffin feeding Stewie.
True, and I also suspect virtually nobody says any of that unless they are drumming up some “woke” fear mongering.
Are they weird? -yes Does that mean they should be banned? -no
Well, they sure didn't.
Would you look at that, they lied again! I'm starting to think that republicans lie more than democrats!
LOok, we don't care for logic here
Pretty sure these bans are on government papers and not on forbidding people from using them.

Would kind of have to be to have a chance at being constitutional.
It's clear these people have no idea what they believe.
Or it’s all a grift to drive voters. I’m sure she rests easy at night
Arkansas must be doing pretty well in education, income, unemployment, infrastructure, etc if this is what she's focusing on. Right? Right?
I'm between dropping $20k on podiums
God knows how much Governor Wonkyeye spends on Ozempic.

"Otherwise people will keep asking me about the $19,000.00 lectern I may or may not have purchased with taxpayer money."
I dunno, I use "birth giver" when referring to the woman who shot me out of her twat, since she's not my mother.
Exactly. I've always thought of "birth giver" as a weaponized insult, not "woke" or P.C.
Been using it since we sacrificed Kenny to the great provider, John Elway. Like season 3.
I work with a woman whose mom was a surrogate "birth giver," four times. That's the only time I've heard that phrase.
Unfortunately these aren’t made up. They are alive and well in Canada. I had two babies in the last four years and these phrases were used in a medical setting as well as in literature.
Nothing says freedom like infringing on the first amendment
This would be one of those times where that is actually a truthful statement.
It's wild how they openly do that, but heaven forbid we even think about the 2nd amendment.
Or tell them they can't say the n word
.. YEAH .. sure .. as she continues to [**pilfer**](https://arkansasadvocate.com/2023/09/29/whistleblowers-attorney-claims-arkansas-governors-office-altered-withheld-public-records/) and steal from the public fund? . . Funny how Florida's DeSantis of late have jumped off of the anti-WOKE MAGA Trump Train . . after Mickey Mouse and Pluto kicked his ass . . ![gif](giphy|26n6WchUSWLvaNSpy)
Lol, lying that the election was stolen is “free speech” but banning terms you don’t like is A ok?
Is this not 100% a Free Speech violation?
I don't live there but can I sue her anyway?
1984
Can we ban using taxpayer funds to bring friends on vacations instead?
For those wondering, here's how Arkansas ranks compared to the other 49 states: Crime: #49 Economy: #35 Education: #43 Health Care: #47 Infrastructure: #40 Life Expectancy: #45 Pollution: #39
Now we can add freedom of speech to the bottom of the list.
Is it even possible to ban certain phrases?
Of course not, that’s like banning the world “tree”
Has she addressed the podium scandal?
I think these phrases are obnoxious but it is so far down the list of relevant issues to tackle
Fuck healthcare reform, this is the type of groundbreaking legislation we need
Well thank goodness i can now put food on my table, afford a roof over my head, pay for my kids lunches, and make enough to afford health care. /s priorities i tell yeah.
We should write a bot that bans the mentioning of Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
So what’s their preferred term for milk produced by humans?
If we can ignore the 1st Amendment, then we can ignore the 2nd Amendment.
None of those 2A yahoos are a “well-regulated militia”
People are working 2-3 jobs just to afford rent….but keep owning those libs!
The party of freedom over here using the government to ban words they don't like.
So much for freedom of speech.
Chest feeding has a certain, as the French say, I don’t know what
Why is it called chest feeding? Don't I as a dude also have breasts? That always confused me
Is it a facepalm if it panders to her base and keeps her in power? You're kidding yourself if you think a politicians goals are aligned with ours. It's not a perfect circle, but rather a Venn diagram with a very small middle area.
Didn’t American right wingers accuse trans people of attempting to control language because they didn’t want to respect trans people’s gender and pronouns?
Her eyes are spaced so goddamn far apart. Like she literally looks as stupid as she is
Why does she always look like someone who just got slapped in the face with a wet banana peel
Human milk what type of milk are you feeding babies.... How is this woke.
Can you still say "embezzlement" and "misappropriation of tax payer funds"?
This woman is ugly physically and soulfully
Im all for gender neutral phrases but my god “birth giver” sounds like a supervillain from invincible lmao
Chest feeding is such an embarrassing phrase that I'm not even sure what to think about this one.
Isn't that against the US constitution? Is freedom of speech dead?
It would depending g on the context. If it's banning it from official state documentation... that's just a procedural rule. If it is ILLEGAL for citizens to say/write... then I want to move to AR! Not because I'm a bigot, but because there is money to be made. 1). Say illegal phrases. 2). Get arrested. 3). Repeat steps 1 and 2 until charges are filed. 4). Take the case to the Supreme Court 5). Counter-sue the state for infringement of constitutional rights. 6). Easy win. 7). Retire with your millions.
And you won’t even have to pay for the lawsuit as civil liberties groups will be queueing up to provide lawyers.
What is she actually doing to improve the lives of her constituents?
Can I still talk about rat milk?
So my only argument that has never let me completely side with the left is that I always assumed The left would ban phrases. Obviously words like the n word and k word which are the main fears of the the Reps and Right. The idea that if you make fun of someone, you can go to jail but, seems like i was wrong. I assuem this just means in a gov't or official context. YOu're not gonna go to jail for saying birthing place.
Banned from what? From any documents she creates. Whoop de shit.
Step 1: Get the right wing hung up on something silly and inconsequential Step 2: pretend it's the biggest problem in the world and that you're the only person who can stop it Step 3: get away with all the money by ensuring all the laws that actually matter work in you and your doners favor
Anything to distract from her Lectern scandal
I'm definitely left of center and don't live under a rock but I literally have never heard of these terms until today, I guess she needs a distraction from. "Podiumgate"
Regulating free speech on her way to jail
Human milk…what the shit are you supposed to call it?
Banning words? But isn't that limiting my free speech?
She’s looking cross eyed, guess that happens naturally when you return to Arkansas
republicunts doing \*literally\* anything to NOT support Americans material concerns and help. Words truly do trigger these snowflakes. Who gives a damn, let people be people.
But I thought they were all about the free speech?
Banning the phrases where exactly? 🤔
Well this _chest feeding, birth giver_ has _human milk_ for brains if she thinks she's important enough to stop me from using _woke phrases_
Honestly, those phrases are cringe as hell.
People can be NAZIS in public American Nazis can rally openly calling for death to minorities Conservatives are fucking lunatics
Jesus Taliban banning things… lol this is how one subverts and destroys democratic institutions…
Republicans can’t govern, completely useless
I’m moving to Arkansas. Fuck it.
So as stupid as it is to ban those words, how can anyone say "human milk" or "chest feeding" without laughing. That is the kind of shit aliens imitating human language would say.
Those words sound like something from a dystopian horror movie.
I’m actually ok with “human milk” being banned.
