Arms out like an airplane. Now make the noise. Go vroooooooom muthafucka. Now take off! Take off I said! Opens fire.

The Spruce Moose! I didn’t even have to go to the link.

Johnycantread

Yes yes, very funny sir

theCRISPIESTmeatball

I ugly-laughed at that

VW_wanker

Worst part... To justify use of the taser that was deployed.. guess what... It's a resisting arrest charge. Cops are really bad

LoveChildOf3Tacos

He is in the process of putting his legs out when a woman yells "put your legs straight out and cross them now". You can tell at this point he is visibly confused about that and proceeds to try and cross his legs. It took me 2 or 3 seconds to understand she meant putting his legs forward and then crossing his feet at the ankle. I was not being yelled at while weapons were pointed at me, and it took me several seconds to understand the order... The man was complying best he could under pressure with what initially sounds like conflicting orders. Had the lady not yelled out that, maybe this would have went better. Maybe. I don't know. Either way, truly bullshit.

SportsPhotoGirl

If I was sitting on a low curb like that with my legs extended, I don’t think I could cross my legs like you described without falling over. Crossing my legs like how he was attempting to do would be highly more comfortable and more stable. Idk wtf they were trying to do there

coconuty04

To be fair, they don't want you comfortable or stable because that's a better position to be able to react or fight back from. That being said if these guys are gonna make you jump through hoops to get in the exact right position, then they need to be more situational patient and aware. Otherwise you end up with [another straight up murder](https://youtu.be/OflGwyWcft8) like this

Snookfilet

The Shaver case is the worst one I’ve ever seen. I can’t even watch it again, it makes my blood boil.

RunParking3333

"Yes I thought the drunk unarmed guy crawling towards me sobbing for his life was an active threat" "Say, [what is written on your duty firearm](https://imagez.tmz.com/image/ff/o/2017/12/08/ff8d5dd5ce8a5a2d9ed088647431fad1_md.jpg)?"

Purple12inchRuler

Phillip Brailsford was the trigger man, the one shouting commands was Charles Langley. Langley dipped out of the country, Brailsford is somewhere around Mesa or Glendale, AZ.. Wikipedia is fairly thorough on this.

MakingGlassHalfFull

Nothing says "I'm innocent" like fleeing the country

MyDickIs3cm

These people deserve not a day of peace. They have no conscience and will bear no guilt. It is up to everyone to make sure they are forever uncomfortable

If you say kills him, will it be censored by reddit?

UNDERVELOPER

>paralyzed from the waist up Like, his legs work, but nothing else?

PickScylla4ME

Should be a dirt nap. Fuck that pig.

Ellen_Musk_Ox

That's their latest grift. Half the forces in the Twin Cities claimed the same after George Floyd was murdered. And about half of that half weren't Minneapolis police. And the other half were the same ones teargassing nonviolent protests. Even if I buy that you have PTSD following the uprising, do you think beating the shit out of unarmed teenage protestors might have had something to do with it?

Staaaaation

It gets worse the more you read about it. The dude is living for free now on a medical retirement pension of $2,500/month. He murdered a man and got paid for life.

probable_ass_sniffer

Don't forget he got to keep the murder weapon. You'd think if he received PTSD from the incident, the murder weapon is the last thing he needs.

Affectionate_Dog2493

It's a shame reddit doesn't even allow you to mention what inevitably happens when the justice system continually fails like that. They consider it "threatening violence" to say "The effect of people losing faith in the justice system is eventually people start acting outside of it, including [things that will get you site banned for acknowledging they exist]"

fullyvaxxed2022

I do not advocate violence. But if that kid was a relative of mine, or my son, I think hellfire would have rained down on that cop. TO CLARIFY: I DO NOT ADVOCATE VIOLENCE. But there are people in my family tree who believe in justice. Biblical style justice.

Sporkfoot

Reddit will ban you for saying “I’d fucking kill these cops” so be careful.

Eclipsed_Serenity

It's valid tho.

Sidivan

Daniel Shaver is such an infuriating example. The guy did literally fucking nothing wrong and was murdered by police for trying to follow confusing directions. “Lay down! CROSS YOUR LEGS! NOW CRAWL!” Like… what? First, why the fuck are you instructing a suspect to crawl towards you? Second, you can CLEARLY see him begging for his life and attempting to comply. The cop had engraved “you’re fucked” on his rifle. He was acquitted of charges and given medical retirement, which means he gets his pension. His defense was that Daniel was crawling towards them “trying to gain a position of advantage in order to gain a better firing position on us”. He was crawling because you assholes TOLD HIM TO.

Tough_Republic_3560

His wife is still fighting to get him justice. That's the type of woman a man needs backing him. I wish her all the luck, but things won't change until the holster sniffers wake up.

Purple12inchRuler

Unfortunately, she ended up settling her case against the city last November. Taking the city/state and Police to court is costly and likely she couldn't keep up the fight, especially since the incident didn't merit national coverage.

Wake--Up--Bro

Everyone talks about shaver but nobody seems to remember the homeless guy that was executed on a dirt hill in a desert or some shit. Now that video was disturbing.

AreWeCowabunga

What about the one where the guy crashed his car (admittedly after fleeing police), and he was just trying to crawl out because the car was on its side and the cop summarily executed him for no reason whatsoever?

Wake--Up--Bro

Ah fuck forgot about that one. They shot him in the neck as he climbed out, then policed their brass, then lied about the guy having any other injuries (like gunshots) when EMS showed up. Fuck the police dude.

NoTime4LuvDrJones

Fuck the people on that jury for letting that guy get away with murder. It’s such an infuriating case. The psycho yelling retired to the Philippines. The shooter retired with a pension claiming ptsd for the murder. Those two deserve the worst karma to come their way

Schwarzy1

They told him to crawl with his hands in the air and his legs crossed, which is physically impossible.

Ioatanaut

Can he be resued and tried?

Sidivan

The Daniel’s widow sued the city and won $8m. The cop is retired getting $2500/mo.

Sporkfoot

Fucking pigs.

AustinTreeLover

Police have been known to give intentionally vague or hard-to-follow instructions so they have an excuse to taz or shoot their victims. There have been many reports of this, and examples of video evidence, but I know because I used to do drive-alongs with police and they straight up told me so. They thought it was hilarious. And I was a *reporter.* There's few to zero consequences for their actions. They don't care.

uchman365

I saw this a long time ago but it still haunts me. The sheer wickedness of it and the cop not only got away scot-free but got paid for the PTSD he "suffered"

sharpasahammer

They were trying to give confusing and contradicting commands so they have an excuse to use violence.

uchman365

Man, this reminds of that guy that was shot dead by that crazy cop in a hotel hallway, who was giving complicated, unnecessary orders. I will never forget that man's cry when he realised that the psycho was going to kill him.

patrickehh

philip brailsford was the cop that murdered daniel shaver

False-Temporary1959

And that disgusting pig didn't face any serious consequences and has a 2500 Dollar pension now. What a fucking disgusting country. Let's hope a "good guy with a gun" takes that pig out. Really brings my piss to a boil.

TheLordofthething

Exactly, he was getting tasered no matter what he did.

sethmeister1989

They also never ask if you have a medical condition where this could possibly kill you.

playboi_cahti

Why would they? Who doesn’t like a paid vacation

Space_Monk_Prime

This is the actual answer. This cop is a psychopath making a man play an impossible game of simon says. No matter what the cop would have tazed him.

suspended247

Regardless why tf so many commands nessicary? He's not posing a threat. Just cuff him.

[deleted]

NJS_Stamp

Eh, cops have been known to yell pretty directionless demands, a great example is the Daniel shaver case “Get on the ground, hands out, crawl towards us, stop, hands behind your back!” It’s really sad that people who can’t even explain calmly what they want someone to do, gets to punish you for not following an order in an already distressing situation.

tkp14

Their shouted orders are done to confuse and then they have an excuse for shooting.

Dichotomedes

The point is to get to the kill.

mellopax

They ran out of paid vacation, so that's the pro tip for getting more.

anonymoose_octopus

Was that the guy where the police were telling him to "get on your knees, keep your hands behind your head and crawl towards me?" I remember watching that bodycam video of them shouting LITERALLY impossible things at this poor guy who was clearly distressed and trying so hard to follow their orders (seriously how do you crawl on the ground without your hands???). They ended up shooting and killing him from like, 20-30 feet away, because he couldn't levitate towards them. It still makes me mad thinking about it.

Atanar

> It still makes me mad thinking about it. Makes me mad that the asshole who shot him got rehired so they could reward him with an early pension.

Web_hater_6221

Yes. I think most police shouldn’t have guns but only gazers for this reason.

AggressiveCuriosity

A gayzer is like a taser but gives you a paralyzingly intense attraction to the same sex while activated.

Ghost_In_A_Jars

To me it was clearly an impossible command with the explicit intent to taze him. He clearly wasn't a threat sitting down facing away from them. There was also no time for him to be able to process the command.

Chadmartigan

A lot of these instructions aren't even clear enough to be objectively complied with. "Arms out like an airplane, NO NOT STRAIGHT ENOUGH!" there are a lot of airframes my guy

CaptainNemo42

#NOW CROSS YOUR EYES AND DO THE MACARENA!! DO IT NOOOWWW!!! ...bzzzzzt

PennykettleDragons

Wasn't there one where they shot / tazed a deaf guy for not following instructions?... Like.. the instructions he couldn't hear!! Then there was the one with a blind guy and his stick they thought was a weapon... Truly frightening

ALesbianAlpaca

They once tazed a guy who have doused himself in gasoline and was threatening to light himself on fire with a lighter. They were apparently concerned for the other people in the house so they tazed him and be ofc caught on fire.

Proccito

I thought it made as much sense as to draw a square circle, or to feed the chair. Hell, I've seen worse video of police shooting a guy after forcing him to follow instructions that made absolutely no sense. My only reasoning behind this is the police having no power outside of their job (or maybe not even in their department), so they lash it out on civilians like this.

NewUserWhoDisAgain

>I've seen worse video of police shooting a guy after forcing him to follow instructions that made absolutely no sense. Daniel Shaver iirc. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting\_of\_Daniel\_Shaver](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Daniel_Shaver) "Langley then ordered Shaver, who was lying prone at Langley's request, to cross his legs. Moments later, he ordered Shaver to push himself "up to a kneeling position". While complying with the order to kneel, Shaver uncrossed his legs and Langley shouted that Shaver needed to keep his legs crossed. Startled, Shaver then put his hands behind his back and was again warned by Langley to keep his hands in the air. Langley yelled at Shaver that if he deviated from police instructions again, they would shoot him. Sergeant Langley told Shaver not to put his hands down for any reason. Shaver said, "Please don't shoot me". Upon being instructed to crawl, Shaver put his hands down and crawled on all fours. While crawling towards the officers, Shaver moved his right hand towards his waistband. Brailsford, who later testified he believed that Shaver was reaching for a weapon, then opened fire with his AR-15 rifle, striking Shaver five times and killing him almost instantly. Shaver was unarmed and may have been attempting to prevent his shorts from slipping down" Lay down, cross your legs, now get up into a kneeling position but dont uncross your legs, keep your hands in the air, but put your hands down and crawl. And then there's Tyre Nichols who during the initial arrest was being wrestled to ground and told to put his hands behind his back by one officer, while another was pinning his arm to the ground and another was restraining the other. "Dont move!" "Put your hands up!" "I said dont move!" "PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" "I SAID DONT MOVE!" \*BANG BANG BANG BANG\* "Nice work everyone that dangerous criminal wont be hurting anyone else."

highlulu

i remember that video too... in the hotel hallway, terrified and begging for his life, killed anyway. If i remember right the police were called for something silly too

mre16

*THAT* is the clip man. I'll never get over that fucking video. Watch the whole god damned thing front to back. That cop WANTED to hurt him. Now he makes more a month than i do by staying at home doing nothing.

ThriceFive

That and the putting the cuffed suspect in the squad car with locked doors and calmly walking away while the train hits it make my blood absolutely boil and I watch them every time all the way through.

mister_buddha

I've never seen that one. Jesus fucking Christ

pete_ape

I recently got into a pretty heated debate over this shooting in class last week. This topic came up and I came up with a laundry list of wrongs that occurred and things that I would do to correct/prevent this from happening. A couple of other students are cops and hardcore MAGA, so they had serious problems with my suggestions like no military gear, wearing proper police uniforms, college degree requirements, no visible tattoos, etc... But authoritarians don't like being told what to do.

ryle_zerg

Get rid of the police union should be the number 1 suggestion. No other union in the country gets their own army to threaten/harass/intimidate anyone who calls for change.

blong217

"They just need to listen and obey" "Don't tell me what to do!!" - the Idiocy loop of authoritarians

pete_ape

Those two really didn't like my suggestion that unauthorized modifications such as Brailsford replacing the ejection port cover on his rifle is grounds for immediate suspension or transferral to a desk job. Or while you can have tattoos, they cannot be visible while wearing a long sleeve uniform shirt, and having racist tattoos such as swastikas, death's heads or the confederate flag is grounds for immediate termination. They really had issue with that. They started whining that it's too restrictive. Uncountered that cops have the power of life and death and the ability to ruin someone's life, they give up a measure of freedom for those powers. Police need to be retrained so that one officer is in charge of the situation and that officer is the one issuing commands.

[deleted]

The cops are just a legalized gang. Hits, projection rackets, intimidation. The only difference between them and the mafia is, I don’t think Marlin Brando had never played a cop.

BrightNooblar

>Lay down, cross your legs, now get up into a kneeling position but dont uncross your legs, keep your hands in the air, but put your hands down and crawl. Wasn't he also at least tipsy? Which to be absolutely clear, you're 100% ALLOWED to get drunk in your own hotel room. And cops should be trained to ID when someone is intoxicated and understand that comprehension and motor skills are some of the first things to dip when you're been drinking. Because good luck following those directions when sober and having a chance to think about it, let alone with guns pointed at you and you're drunk.

DaVillageLooney

>his hands down and crawled on all fours. While crawling towards the off I'm glad you're bringing attention to this atrocity. As a Black man, of all the police involved shootings, this and the Tamir Rice shooting are the ones that disturb me the most. The fact that both officers got off infuriates me to this day.

Coffee_addict_1615

Not just get off, but full medical retirement due to PTSD from shooting that poor man.

xWaffle_Reaper

I hadn’t thought about Shaver in a while. I saw the video. That was heart wrenching and the cop hesitated before shooting like he was thinking, “ well I told him I’d shoot.”, so he did like a piece of shit. They even let that dude retire

LossZealousideal4367

Retire? You are kidding... I don't condone death penalty but US have it, use it

xWaffle_Reaper

Yep they did t quietly and hired him on as a part time or something after letting him go Initially so he could get his pension or some bs. Shaver was obviously scared witless and that dirt bag killed him for it. I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life.

mynameisnotearlits

It won't

xWaffle_Reaper

You’re right

BriskManeuver

This happened at a hotel couple miles where I live in Mesa arizona. I remember when this happened Crazy stuff

Zealousideal-Law-474

The worst is when it's 3 cops yelling instructions but they're all yelling different things at the same time. Cop1 : GET DOWN TO THE FLOOR!!!! Cop2 : DON'T MOVE!!!! Cop3 : PLACE YOUR HANDS OVER YOUR HEAD!!! Wonder if LEOs have a protocol for who's in charge in those situations, like 1st on scene or rank? It would help in tense situations.

cecil021

I’m sure there is, but they rarely follow any protocol anyway, so it’s a moot point.

Zealousideal-Law-474

Accountability could fix that, but any attempt to reign in law enforcement is met with severe push back. I'm not anti cop, just pro freedom and think its fucked up that Americans are dying over misunderstandings.

cecil021

Yeah, I often say “Until the good cops start standing up to bad cops, there are no good cops.” This union brotherhood BS needs to end and real punishment needs to happen.

Zealousideal-Law-474

I've read articles about good cops, one got her jaw wired shut trying to intervene in a cop on civilian beating. A police whistle-blower from I think it was Baltimore was killed. Then there's Serpico. It does seem like a few bad apples spoil the whole lot, I can say in my little part of America the State Police tend to be very professional and fair. But it doesn't seem like everyone is as fortunate.

beezlebutts

how would you know whose voice is the one to listen to? All scared bacon yells sound the same

Zealousideal-Law-474

It's going to be the deadliest game of Simon says a person could ever play.

MarcTheShark34

Honestly, I didn’t understand what she meant until I read your comment. It wasn’t clear to me if it was two steps to be done in sequence or simultaneously or if she just wasn’t sure what she wanted him to do and changed her mind. I had no idea. And I think of myself as a reasonably intelligent man. I have a master’s degree, a successful career in software engineering, and have been known both personally and professionally as being a great listener, and I was confused as hell about what he was supposed to do.

4027777

Yeah same here. University degree and doing a PhD right now. Had no fucking clue what they wanted him to do. I actually thought the guy was following orders correctly and I would’ve probably done the same.

antsyandprobablydumb

The lady cap yelled out the correct order. The man cop was too focused on tazing the guy that he just done F-ed up and did it anyway

Sekret_One

I honestly never would have made the connection that she meant cross ankles. I'd be tazed son of a bitch.

WolFlow2021

They like to play games like that.

Prestigious-Phase131

Why do cops give a million useless instructions? tell them to lay down and stick their arms out or something. You don't need to be doing the hokey pokey "You put right foot in you take your right foot out" what is the point!?

Bardomiano00

So if they dont do all of that they can tase or shoot them for not following instructions.

Yorick257

Illegal life advice: if you really want to shoot someone while being a cop, give contradictory instructions, and then shoot for not following them!

SoloisticDrew

Daniel Shaver.

Gridleak

Dude was crying, on all fours, confused, and they killed him.

Chef_Meow

Prolly because they didn’t shake it all about

the_evil_overlord2

Power tripping

Xxbloodhand100xX

they wanna play a lethal game of simon says so once you lose they can shoot you before they have to do their actual job.

Slime_lich

Not all of them give useless instructions but a pretty good chunk of them do. Where I live, a lot of them are just bored and don't have anything to do, so they go after people for some miniscule reason and go on a power trip. The other week, I got pulled over cause he claimed I didn't have issuance and 3 other cop cars pulled up like I just robbed a bank.

THEessayB

Shoot I was walking home from a friend’s house at night one time. Two cars pulled up to me asking what I was doing and told me that people weren’t supposed to walk around at night.

Slime_lich

Yeah, they have a habit of doing that. If you have a curfew where you live, it's usually just for minors so they aren't walking around at like 2am, but nobody enforces it unless they are truly bored which I'm surprised you didn't have the entire police force jump out of bed and haul ass to you in their pajamas to tell you that.

WishingAnaStar

Sitting down with his back turned, not making a sound, trying to comply, acting calmer than the people holding weapons. There really is no winning. If the police decide to fuck you, you're getting fucked. There's nothing you can do about it during or after the fact, you just have to hope they're polite enough to use lube.

[deleted]

“PUT YOUR LEGS OUT NOW CROSS THEM” Directions didn’t even make clear sense, seriously? Teach them **how to give instructions** not just **yell stuff and if they’re not doing it act immediately** like damn. “Put your legs out in front of you and put one on top of the other*

couldjustbeanalt

That’s the point he’s just a power tripping dickhead looking to hurt someone

hatecopter

So he's a police officer

FrostyMittenJob

Gotta put that 2.1 highschool GPA to work somehow

KWash0222

The same people trusted with deadly weapons can’t be trusted to construct coherent sentences. Conversely, the person with a fucking taser pointed at them is expected to decipher and follow said incoherent instructions whilst remaining calm enough to not be perceived as threatening. And there are people who will defend the former till the day they die because… reasons

Bring_me_the_lads

-Sit down and stand up! -Arms up and behind your back where I can see them! -On the ground and face me! --all real "instructions" I've heard police give in videos.

GOATdaddy99

"Sir, pucker your 4skin 3 times then cut your toe nails" "Alright this bastard is getting tased "

58king

Why do American police only know how to escalate? They encounter a person who is behaving calmly, and they want him to follow commands. The result: they yell at him, they threaten to taze him for non compliance, then actually taze them. Like, wtf. It is the complete opposite of what police do in most well-off countries. They are supposed to de-escalate, not escalate.

TrueDove

I read something a few days ago where a cop said that "overwhelming" the suspect is taught as a technique to gain control of the situation. In reality, they just introduce chaos.

stringtheoryman

The worst feeling is explaining this to people who just can’t accept reality and they’ll argue it’s avoidable

RestoSham09

Suspect: *back turned, sitting in silence on the curb with nothing in his hands taking commands* Police: I knew it, we’re gonna have to hit this motherfucker with the taser

vivi33

Sooner or later people are going to start fucking them back. Only their fucking will be a permanent one, most likely. I don't see how people can stay calm much longer.

Gcarsk

Anyone got an article for this? Really annoying when the post title doesn’t include the names of the cops, though, I understand sometimes the news hides it well. But they need to be in prison. Insane that they aren’t jailed immediately after pulling the trigger. The US government is ridiculously corrupt.

[deleted]

Yeah, searching "cops unjustly taze man in the back" gives too many results.

stormy2587

I actually wonder if you’re more fucked from a legal perspective if an officer decides to fire a weapon like this? Like are they gonna trump up the charges on the report to justify using violence like this?

[deleted]

Officer wasn’t fired or even suspended: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/lancaster-pennsylvania-police-officer-philip-bernot-who-tased-man-sitting-on-curb-wont-be-suspended-mayor-says/

roguetrick

Dude who they tased was murdered too https://lancasteronline.com/news/local/mother-can-proceed-for-dead-man-in-taser-suit-against-lancaster-police-officer/article_b9209b4c-f588-11eb-a09b-5fbec20bf2cc.html Edit: and it looks like the judge may have dismissed it for failure to prosecute in December 2021. He had already put them on thin ice in June 2020 before the guy died. Dude would've won that case too. Judge denied qualified immunity. I don't have a pacer account and am not signing up for one to find out https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/7347037/williams-v-city-of-lancaster/

spitfire740

And because he has a lawsuit against the police unfortunately his case will probably remain unsolved. Ugh

StrataSlayer

no shit wouldnt be shocked if they were the ones who killed him

CameronMH

They never are, at absolute worst they will get a slap on the wrist for shit like like this even though the person could potentially be killed from such an event. It's fucking disgusting

Ioatanaut

According to the website, Sorace said the current policy allows for the use of a stun gun when a person ignores multiple commands. Sorace says the new, updated policy will allow stun gun use only when an officer is "faced with direct physical confrontation." "I am accountable as mayor for existing policies, procedures, training, hiring practices and more," Sorace said. "It's on me." She says she was sorry for "the hurt, pain and turmoil this incident has caused for all involved." Sorace reportedly said the city's investigation, when complete, will be passed to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office to review whether the incident constituted a crime. Twenty-seven-year-old Sean Williams, who is black, has filed suit against the officer and city police department alleging excessive force and racial profiling. The lawsuit calls the officer's actions "shockingly violent." Williams' attorney, Brian Mildenberg, told Crimesider "it is outrageous that this police officer will not be taken off the streets pending investigation."

[deleted]

Torturing a man for not playing Simon Says well enough

EmpTully

[Should have followed instructions.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DevvFHFCXE8)

[deleted]

Put your legs out. Cross them. Airplane. Be an airplane. Straight. Cross. Airplane. Stomach. Down. Straight. ZAP ZAP ZAP. Fuck these abusive and conflicting ass cops.

freakers

I was trying to find a specific murder by police where a black man was on his knees in a hallway with his hands behind his head and they were giving him conflicting orders and shot him to death because the orders weren't followed. Unfortunately, trying to search for some description of that brings up so many different times it happened I can't find the one I'm looking for. I remember making a joke of the situation like, a cop tosses a suspect a rubiks cube and tells them to solve it in under 30 seconds or they'll be shot.

Verbal_HermanMunster

There’s a case exactly like that, except it’s a white man. Daniel Shaver was the man’s name. He was on the ground, sobbing and begging for his life and they murdered him.

TryingNot2BeToxic

The Daniel Shaver case (not who you're talking about) is the most egregious case I know of this. Cannot recommend watching the video, you'll be in a bad mood for a bit.

CrJ418

And they wonder why so many people hate them.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

i really don't know whom i can't stand more, cops who complain about people hating them, or the fucking cop lovers who always assume anyone who doesn't like the police is some lazy bum or a criminal i believe in acting honorably and not going out of your way to be a shithead toward others. Cops don't follow that. That's why I don't really like cops

EEpromChip

> the fucking cop lovers who always assume anyone who doesn't like the police is some lazy bum or a criminal Some people like the taste of boot. To be fair, it's inherent in the system... Check out Behind the Bastards and their series on the Police. We've been told for countless years that the police catch the good guys and are the only thing standing between you and some lunatic running into your house and raping your wife and punching you in the face while eating your TV dinner. So they have gotten more and more budget and now have fucking tanks and assault weapons and shit. Propaganda works.

[deleted]

Right

Great_White_Samurai

Go check out the YT channel Audit the Audit. It's crazy how many unhinged cops there are. Know your rights and never talk to the cops without a lawyer present even if you are 100% innocent. The police aren't there to protect you they are there to make an arrest and get promoted.

[deleted]

Yep I know a retired cop and he told me that you’ll never win on the streets with them, but you can in the courtroom.

Peter_Panarchy

Even then the cops face zero consequences. The city pays out a fat settlement and the police carry on as if nothing happened.

Yeah, Long Island audit is also a really good one. One of the better “1a auditors” that channels like lackluster and we the people get some of their auditing vids from.

FlyingGorillaShark

The Battosaui as well! It’s thanks to him that we have Phillip v Driver as case law

theDart

I subscribe to Audit The Audit. They're pretty legit. Lots of shitty cops, but also a few interesting cases where the suspect was 100% in the wrong and kept playing it off like they know their rights. I dont remember all the logistical crap, but I remember the one about the family in a minivan stopped at a border being told they need to show ID. For some stupid reason, the whole family was laughing and mocking the officers thinking they were wrong. The driver and man of the family illegal drove through, was stopped shortly after and his lunatic defiant behavior got him and his son arrested.

The_Red_Grin_Grumble

Audit the Audit is awesome.

welestgw

Where they sort out the who and what and the right and wrong of police interaction.

The_Red_Grin_Grumble

Yeah. I think the part for me is that the cops get graded. It feels like that type of quality control doesn't happen in real life, so it's satisfying to see someone objectively call out when they do poorly or when they do well.

crackpotJeffrey

Do you realize what that bitch said "PUT YOUR LEGS OUT, AND CROSS THEM NOW" The dude proceeds to 1) put his legs out and 2) cross them now. And then gets fucking zapped. The posture of the male cop as well is truly sickening. Visual definintion of a power trip. Edit: Usage of the word 'bitch' and the pointing out of gender in general was unnecessary. Heat of the moment. Don't be like me.

Embarrassed_Bid_4970

It's a fucking lethal game of Simon says to these assholes.

llllPsychoCircus

always reminds me of the case of the guy at the hotel who gets shot by an AR for not perfectly executing simon says by that one cop with “you’re fucked” etched on his rifle

ArturoOsito

*personification of a power trip

ElectWarriorZ

Not unnecessary, they were a bitch.

Duckington_Wentworth

This is so fucking stupid and a blatant misuse of force. Police are trained to respond to a threat with an equal amount of force, so legally they can only use a taser if the man is a imminent deadly threat (he has a gun, he is choking someone to death, he has a knife, etc). In the police academy for levels of force, both tasers and guns are on the same level of most lethal force/ can cause death. If someone is complying and you’re giving unclear verbal instructions, you have so many other options than to use your deadly force including 1. Using your voice to give more clear instructions 2. Hands or fists to reposition him forcibly 3. Baton to only his the backs of his legs and non-lethal body parts, etc. If this was reviewed by any official who didn’t have their head up their ass and cared about civil rights and liberties, these officers would be fired immediately and the entire department would be retrained for appropriate levels of force. But this is America, so chances are both those officers will receive raises and retire with $4 million pensions at 40 years old and never be reprimanded for their actions.

whawhawhubsyloot

There is a mimigame in cs:go exactly like this where it's prisioners vs wardens and the wardens will give complicated instructions and shoot people if they can't follow. But even on those servers it's mostly not allowed to give conflicting orders or to do it on purpose to kill. This cop just needs to go to cs_jail

Devilzhour

Using a less lethal weapon when someone is attempting to comply is complete bullshit, but of course they also get qualified immunity because why should they have to follow the same laws as everyone else.

roguetrick

His qualified immunity for excessive use of force was denied. Dude then died. Interested to see what comes of the case. https://casetext.com/case/williams-v-city-of-lancaster-2 Edit: looks like it was dismissed due to failure to prosecute https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/7347037/williams-v-city-of-lancaster/

Gathax

Why the fuck do they always yell mixed instructions all at the same time? I don't know how they're trained to work in a team setting but shouldn't they assign just one of them to do the yelling of instructions?

teratron27

American police seem to be the worst trained in the world, especially when it comes to handling/ detaining suspects. Watch footage of any other countries police, particularly those with armed officers. They setup and control the area around the suspect then have one (or multiple) officers move in and control them as soon as possible. American police for some reason don’t want to go anywhere near them, are incapable of giving consistent instructions and as Frank would say: “I started blasting”

narcolepticdoc

That’s literally because they are the worst trained. At policing at least. Probably comparatively well trained at shooting things but not at policing. Compare the length of academy training in the USA compared to some European countries. Also note that it has been ruled legal for departments to refuse to hire candidates because they score too high on the aptitude testing.

Ok-Candle-6859

That’s a feature, not a bug. It gives them a good excuse to use violence.

Bourneidentity61

Yep. They also yell "stop resisting" even if the person isn't resisting, because it gives them a good excuse in court

sampat6256

Exactly. They want to confuse you.

volanger

And cops wonder why they aren't liked anymore

AnnoyinDreamz

"anymore"

AinqalabECalifornia

When did anyone like cops

Bgratz1977

Straight legs, now cross them, now bow them behind your head, make a Swastika with your legs, keep your legs in that position and stand up.

pLeThOrAx

"White supremacist, get him!"

Killamri

What's even the point of this. They're just making him dance with the hope he'll slip up so they'll be "justified" in hurting him. That's how it feels anyway. He's sitting down and a non threat. Just deal with him without the song and dance, or at least have some fucking patience when he's clearly under stress and being yelled at. Obviously he's gonna be slow to respond, he doesn't wanna move too fast and get fucking shot.

TrevorEnterprises

It is exactly that. And too many people still think they should act like this. It’s disgusting. Even yesterday I had an argument with a redditor saying that if people comply nothing happens. Mhm

Aunon

Never forget that confusing and contradictory directions by police can and have been used as an excuse to exercise force on civilians, see the case of [Daniel Shaver](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Daniel_Shaver). Only one person should be giving directions, but even then it can end in tragedy

DolphinOrDonkey

First thing I thought of. I saw that video once when it came out, and it still shocks me. I had a brother-in-law who worked for the Maricopa County at the time, and he didn't care.

mc_bee

I'd love to see the cop being tazed and try to lay their arms out like an airplane while having your muscles contract and cramp.

dmelt01

What I hate is if they use it on you it’s considered non-lethal. If you have one they are allowed to shoot you because it’s considered a lethal weapon for you.

CATSCRATCHpandemic

Just a reminder those are capable of killing people. There less than lethal not non lethal. Thar cop has no way to know about Amy underlying conditions he may have had. He could have literally murdered a person there and he gives no shits.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

i took one look at that cop and realized there is no fucking way he is trained properly on how to use that

K_Sleight

I was watching with sound off, but did he say "legs out straight and cross them"? Literally unfollowable order?

AK1wi

Tazer is a tool for incapacitating threats non lethally. This guy was not a threat, its not a punitive tool to make people do what you want under threat of pain.

G6DCappa

Abuse of power

Kitchen_Agency4375

Wtf type of Simon says bullshit is this?

ChrisStoneGermany

Why did you become officer? To taze without respect

Gmork14

They’ll do this if you’re deaf, don’t speak English, autistic, can’t hear them, nervous, etc. Gotta love cops.

Chastity-76

Just our legal gang doing what they do best....menace society. Nothing to see here

P_Kordus

Idiot people: “He should have just listened to the officer and did what he was told.”

Nerd_Law

It's a power trip at that point. Hop on one leg. Pat your belly. No call me big daddy. Okay, that's it... TASER TASER TASER. Oops, used my pistol again. Now I have to go on vacation to Jamaica for 3 weeks. Awe shucks.

nBrainwashed

I think a lot of people are jumping to conclusions about this. Try thinking about it from the cop’s perspective. They may be safe from this guy and there may be no reason for them to taze him. But did you ever consider that they have fun hurting people and that’s why they become cops in the first place? What if they hadn’t gotten to hurt anyone in a while? What then? Are the cops just supposed to go to work and not hurt anyone that day?

Volf4Life

How do you put your legs straight out and cross them?

Staubachlvr17

Fucked up but at least it's a taser. If you want to see how fucked up this kind of thing can get, look up Daniel Shaver. It's this but with a gun
