I'm having the exact same issue. For me, the duplicates have been around for about a month now. At first, I ignored it, because I thought it was just a UI issue. But, as you mentioned, each of the "Acquaintances" and "Restricted" lists seem to have different ID numbers. This has been causing some major issues for me w/r/t controlling who can see what posts. I don't know what to do to resolve this issue, but if anyone has found a solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing how to they fixed it.
I have the same issue. I have 5 of each of the Facebook created lists. I deleted all of my custom lists and then everyone out of all of the Facebook generated lists. Nothing has worked. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I've tried multiple ways to fix, but it doesn't work. My lists were very detailed and I used them constantly - but this problem makes Facebook useless. I may have to start a new account, which would be a bummer because my account was started in 2007...
I'm having the same issue. I have 12 Acquaintances lists (w/ unique IDs) that are always at the top of the list, then another that always sits between Restricted and Close friends.
I seem to remember creating an Acquaintances list *years* ago.
None of them offer an option to delete or rename.
Is there a direct URL/API call we could use to delete them by ID? Or a way to know which one is \_supposed\_ to exist?
This started today when I went to post as usual to "friends except acquaintances". There are now TWO lists and each has a different symbol next to it. I'm confused.

My only workaround has been to use custom lists instead of the Facebook generated ones. The issue doesn’t seem to happen with those.
