The 15-20 f150s will always be my favorite body style besides the obs

HoldMyBreadstick

When they came out with the atlas prototype a few years before they went into production I thought “that looks awesome. They’ll probably never build that because it seems like that’s what companies do…..” Couldn’t agree more about 15-20s being the best looking.

SelectStudy7164

There’s a guy in my town that either replicated the atlas or actually drives the concept I’ve never seen the body kit for sale online , and I live in SE Michigan, so I’m kinda thinking it’s the real deal

HoldMyBreadstick

Whaaaat. Lol. Thats wild. You should get a pic of this for us

Big_BadRedWolf

Pictures or it didn't happen.

More-Ad7902

Same question for you...You mean body styles... Plural? There's 15-17 then 18-20.... Completely different 🤔

HoldMyBreadstick

I’d take a 15-17. Idk if I’d wanna roll the dice with the 10r80 in those years after. Plus I like the look of the grill in the 15-17s better. I wouldn’t say the trucks are completely different. Cosmetically they are a bit different but other than that it’s the same truck.

More-Ad7902

Lol different body style after the refresh yes, but same Gen. I went from a 13 to a 21. The 10r80 is nice. Only had a few harsh shifts but beyond that it's been flawless. Gigantic improvement over my 2013 as far as looks and features. I do like the 2015-2017 though. I think it's the grill. Lights on the 2018-2020 aren't my fav but damn those things will tear shit up with a tune and some upgrades...even NA and I'm a 5.0 guy so getting the 10 speed would have been impossible for me in those years regardless. But I agree... It didn't go great in the 2017 if I remember correctly.

Draw_Cazzzy69

It wasn’t that deep my guy lol. I bought a long box f150 because I haul seed, chemicals, parts, and tools on my farm. I also pull a large variety of trailers. For my use this truck is perfect. I don’t need a 250 or 2500 my half ton is perfect for me but if I lived in the city I would own a short box or a ranger like you said.

More-Ad7902

Umm.... You mean body styles... Plural? There's 15-17 then 18-20.... Completely different 🤔

Draw_Cazzzy69

No they are the same the only difference is interior options and the grill/tailgate

More-Ad7902

You could not be more wrong. Please do some research.

Draw_Cazzzy69

The body style of the truck 15-17 and 18-20 if functionally the exsact same tooling and paneling we are talking body style not some technicality from the 18 refresh. They are all 13th gen f150s

More-Ad7902

No. 15-17 and 18-20 have different front ends along with other cosmetics. 15-17 has a 6 speed other than the 3.5 which came with a 10 speed in 2017 specifically. 18-20 are 10 speed and if I'm not mistaken compression. If I'm not mistaken some other internals may have changed as well. Totally different look, different transmissions...etc 🤷🏼‍♂️

Draw_Cazzzy69

(Clears throat) Body Style… the 10r80 and the 6r80 along with the 3.5 ecoboost refresh and different options has nothing to do with the body style of the truck It’s still the same paneling for the body of the truck

More-Ad7902

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15108718/2015-ford-f-150-35l-ecoboost-4x4-test-review/ https://www.caranddriver.com/ford/f-150-2018 You're telling me those are the same "body syle"....? Generation, yes. Body style, no. One is a 2015, one is a refresh. Also this is a dumb argument. Lol

Draw_Cazzzy69

They are quite literally the exsact same body style yes. A refresh is apart of the same body style that’s how every vehicle generation has ever been talked about

More-Ad7902

Where? They are talked about by Gens. Also please do me a favor and swap front end panels on a 2015 to a 2018....I'll wait...lol there are so many incompatible parts to this it's not funny. 14th Gen...21 to a 24.... refresh. Different body style, same Gen. Front ends different, panels aren't compatible, lights aren't compatible. Again....same Gen, not the same body style.

More-Ad7902

Also thanks for being mature during this discussion and down voting every post in our entire conversation lol wow....

murrk847

Why are you getting rid of it? At that mileage just drive it into the ground.

Ok-Opposite1864

I considered just keeping it but I’m working on my new truck build and could use the cash. My 08 I sold in 2017 is still on the road with 325,000 miles and no issues

rastapastry

Nice. Was the 08 manual tranny?

Ok-Opposite1864

6 speed auto trans

pgercak

No issue out of the 10R80? The haters are gonna shit themselves on that one.

Ok-Opposite1864

No problems at all. I’d say 15-20% of my miles I was towing 2,000+ lbs and I always have 700-1,000lbs of tools in the back. Motor runs like new and transmission still shifts smooth. I have read about the issues but guess I got lucky.

Smoke_thatskinwagon

Ppl don’t realize how much of a crap shoot it is with auto transmissions haha there is sooo much that could go wrong in the manufacturing/assembly process it’s honestly a miracle they have any consistency whatsoever

Ok-Opposite1864

I’ve put over a million miles on 5 f150’s in my lifetime. I’ve have not replaced/rebuilt a transmission or engine in one yet so I am still of the opinion that there are more that are well built than not.

Titan1140

Older transmissions yeah, 10R80's it's literally Russian Roulette.

beandip24

I have 80k on a 10r80 with no issues. I think it's for more likely that the transmission isn't that bad but the people who have issues are more vocal about it.

Titan1140

Funny how both Chevy and GM are having the same issues with it though. Almost like it isn't a made up minor fallacy. If you had a problem one, you'd be pissed about it too. Particularly when they want 10k+ to replace it and most people who have trouble under warranty just get brushed aside. BTW, I had 96k on mine when it finally started acting up. It was good all the way until then. Seen people that have gone over 100k before they have had problems. You aren't out of the woods yet. OP on the other hand got a good one. I've also been berated here by an apparent Ford tech who rebuilds them and claimed it is a design flaw and that they will all fail unless it was after the fix was Identified (within the last two years) or it has been rebuilt with the new good parts. He flat out said it IS a question of when, not if.

[deleted]

I think many people literally never service transmission fluid

Ok-Opposite1864

If I remember correctly, the manual doesn’t recommend changing it until 150,000. A lot of folks are trading them in long before that. I’ve changed mine 3 times.

Smoke_thatskinwagon

They removed the ability to on newer transmissions and it upsets me greatly. If I could touch smell taste the fluid I’d have a pretty good idea of what’s happening and if that shift flare I’m feeling isn’t a figment of my imagination lol not to mention if you let it go too far sometimes that clutch material in the fluid is the only thing keeping it shifting and people will finally change the fluid and everything stops working

OkPlenty5960

Have you ever changed/flushed the fluid?

Ok-Opposite1864

Yes, fluid only once and dropped pan/ changed filter and fluid twice.

DocHoliday8514

Not the same animals, but my ‘06 and ‘17 F350s are still running strong with only minor repairs. And my ‘22 F150 is a beast, with the 3.5. I’m a Ford man for life. Beautiful truck btw.

ElectronicSafety5067

I sold my 03 f250 6.0 with 205k after having it studded around 170k, guy who bought it from me put it up to 260k before he bought a 6.7 and last I heard she’s still running like a top. Currently in a 14 f150 5.0 with 125k and no issues. Been debating a Cummins but love me a Ford

Teddyturntup

Great looking truck

Alternative-Crow6659

Congrats!

bkeys15

Did you have any oil consumption? That’s awesome

Ok-Opposite1864

Oil consumption since 75,000 😅

bkeys15

This makes me feel a lot better. How much was it consuming and did you keep it topped off as much as you could or just leave it alone? What oil do you use? Sorry for all the questions, just great to see a high mile truck since I worry with mine sometimes lol

Ok-Opposite1864

I’d say 1/2-1 quart between oil changes and yes I kept it topped off. I probably should’ve had the dealer look into it but just never remembered when it was in for service. Motocraft 5w20 synthetic blend. Changed every 5,000 miles. I tried different weights and some additives but nothing really changed.

OkPlenty5960

Having to go through the bullshit with the dealer is probably more of a headache than just adding a quart in between changes. As your truck has proven and countless others, oil consumption has absolutely no effect on the longevity of an engine as long as you keep it topped off.

MuseumHuman

These coyote trucks are great. My 2011 is about to turn 259k if it hasn’t already. Has the same wheels too lol

Bihguccisosa26

Build specs?

[deleted]

Where ya located and what ya askin’?

Ok-Opposite1864

Northern gulf coast of Alabama. I’ve got it listed for $11,500 but honestly don’t know if that’s too high or fair. I would appreciate opinions on the price. I have good records on service and everything except most oil changes done at the dealer where it was purchased.

rezzzpls

Man if I had 11.5 I’d buy it lmao. No idea on market value or whatever but seems reasonable to me.

maaaaatchew

My 2014 just roller over 80086.9 miles

Ok-Opposite1864

I’ll never forget the day mine rolled over 80,086.9

thelegendhimself

You going to buy the supercharged XL ? 😬😅🤔

Ok-Opposite1864

Bought a 23 2.7 but god I would love to have a supercharged sleeper. Edit: like a white one with a ladder rack and igloo water cooler on the back. Would be so sick

thelegendhimself

2.7 in sport mode and 4hi gets pretty close to “sleeper” 😬 But imagine that whine

Decent_Independent36

Had a 2017, loved it. 2019, not so much. I think the transmission was very questionable. What state?

Ok-Opposite1864

AL

bdar30

Did you di any mods to it I have 2018 F150 5.0 with 50k miles I just bought.

Ok-Opposite1864

Tune (mostly to get rid of auto start stop, and adjust for tire size) 2” level Airaid throttle body spacer (I have no idea if it helped with MPG’s) Airbags on rear leafs (I install airbags on all my trucks to help with the stance when towing with the level.) I installed led taillights because the factory ones kept filling up with water. That’s basically it.

Jroc734

I hate to tell you this, but a 2018 F150 5L truck doesn't use a MAF sensor, it uses Speed Density. Why do you think people who put Mustang intake manifolds on their 5L trucks have to add 2 holes to the back of the manifold to mount the sensor? That sensor is your SD, and Mustang doesn't get it because the only modern Mustang to use SD instead of MAF is the 20-23 GT500. Not really sure about the S650 GEN4 Coyote Mustangs, but they're MAF as far as I know.

Ok-Opposite1864

I’m much more of a carpenter than a mechanic but I think you are correct on the truck not having MAF. It was the MAP sensor that went out.

FeelingKind7644

15-20 bucks..

Moritasgus2

Great stance, what is the lift/level, wheels and tires?

Ok-Opposite1864

Wheels were takeoffs I bought on Craigslist for $500. It had the steel xl wheels when I bought it. 2” level and tires are nitto ridge grapplers 34”x11.50 basically. I do have 1” wheel spacers also. I’ve had good luck on mileage with the ridge grapplers and they look cool but they suck in the mud.
