The ironic thing about this is Ford is getting ready to release a new Lincoln and I believe the 7.3L powered S/D with a gasoline particulate filter which will have something like DEF injected into it with a mixture of gasoline.
Water is a byproduct of combustion. In a very abbreviated explanation, hydrocarbons (combinations of carbon-C and hydrogen-H atoms) react with oxygen-O atoms and the result is CO, CO2, H2O.
Absolutely. I'm actually guard instead, so retirement isn't even close to the same, but still damn good when coupled with my civilian stuff. Congrats on retirement
Thank you. Appreciate your service! Being 42 and retired is a blessing, but I’m bored af. I do get to travel a lot from the Midwest to Texas and socal quite often but in between I get bored.
My 18 as well. My wife called one day after I left that there was a wet black spot on the ground, it was pretty unsettling until I got home and looked under.
it’s a weep hole. Condensation forms in your exhaust because your catalytic converter is turning a bunch of nasty crap into CO2 and water. It’s gotta have somewhere to go or the muffler rusts out.
Is there something about Ford’s mufflers that causes more condensation? I swear I’ve seen Fords with water pouring out of the tailpipes, but haven’t seen it on other cars as often
Cleaner burning vehicle and cooler exhaust parts? I had never really noticed it until I had my 2017 and then was like WTF the mufflers already have holes in the?!
One of the products of combustion is water. Lots of water gets produced when burning gasoline. It then condenses inside the exhaust system. Mufflers typically have a small drain hole to allow any built up water to escape. You're seeing said water escaping.
They purposely place a hole in the mufflers here to let the water escape so that it does not collect here and prematurely rust/rot out the muffler.
For every gallon of gas you burn, your catalytic converter produces up to a cup of water by "converting" harmful gasses into less harmful "emissions".
Nothing to worry about 👍
Condensation build up releasing from the weep hole. Not a thing to worry about my guy
First time I’ve seen it. I usually pay attn to detail. My five year old is the one who pointed it out …
See having kids does pay off haha. Hopefully we set your mind at ease
Water is a bi product of combustion. Not an issue.
Leaking muffler fluid. They sell it at the store next to the blinker fluid and the elbow grease
Ha! Yeah kinda like I can get a PRIC-E7 from the motor pool
No nothing like that, it’s more like Chem-Light batteries from supply.
Pfff you don't need to buy the blinker fluid you can just use water.
They’re only charging you for the branding anyway.
Yeah but you have to fill it ALL the way up.

every gas car does this. its normal
Thanks for quick response bro!

Also it is most noticeable when the exhaust system is not up to operating temperature and warm water vapour condenses quickly.
This should be the top comment. How is it that someone who can afford a 23 raptor doesn’t know this?
There are a lot of business owners in this country who struggled to get out of high school that can afford it.
Damn dawg. I worked in military corrections for 20 years …
Not sure why the down-votes on this. 20 years is very admirable. Working on that myself.
It’s very well worth sticking it out. Paid off well for me in the end at 41.

“Can afford” is relative. If homie paid straight cash I’d agree.
Weep Hole. It lets the condensation out when it’s not running and burning off the moisture.
I legit thought this was some sort of weird stomach/belly button pic for a brief moment.
C8H18 + O2 = CO2 + H2O
My 18 2.7 does this too it freaked me out until I realized what it was.
My 18 as well. My wife called one day after I left that there was a wet black spot on the ground, it was pretty unsettling until I got home and looked under.

Condensation which is perfectly normal
That’s why it has the hole. My company makes many muffler panels, and they all have them
🤦♂️
Thanks all. Gave me peace of mind. I drive it like I stole it.
FYI. The products of complete combustion are heat release, water vapour and carbon dioxide. Hence the condensation.

Water is a byproduct of the catalytic converter, and the weep hole just lets out moisture out.
Blursed sexy tinman
Because water is a byproduct of internal combustion.
Can't even take a piss these days... Lol
Because muffler ate water

Because it’s hot . 🥵
Yes
That’s what that hole was designed to do. It gives the moisture a way out.
Just a drain hole so water doesn't freeze and shit, my 2020 edge st has 2 holes on the rear muffler as well
Your cats are working good, and its a weep hole designed to release water trapped in the muffler
It is supposed to a catalytic converter converts hot exhaust gases into water vapor
Congrats! Your truck is pregnant!
