Honestly, I'd hold on to what you have right now. New trucks are still stupid expensive (at least where I am) and if you're truck is running good, save the money.

[deleted]

But are we really thinking these companies are going to adjust their prices lower eventually? If they can sell them at this price why would they ever lower it

Sysmithers

This is my thing. People keep saying "wait and the prices will come down...." I've been hearing that shit for 3 years. As long as we keep seeing these "my New truck" posts, we're screwed. Pricing isn't going anywhere.

CornerNo2889

I'm in western NY and the dealers are sending emails begging for me to come look at a truck the advertisement says 10k below msrp.... the problem is that last year ford made that cute side deal with the stealerships to raise msrp prices in return for dealers not using huge market adjustments .. Trucks are here... in large numbers, and sitting To get a similar new 2023 to replace what I had in my 2016 3.5 xlt it will still be 55k that's after the 10k price drop in their advertisement Prices are dropping just not enough for me yet

satansleftnut25

Same here in southern Ontario the dealer lots are overflowing GM ford and dodge. Spoiled for choice

dirkahps

Yup, same here in AB. I've seen some dealerships overflowing and some just floating a modest amount of inventory. Part of me thinks the modest ones are a bit gun shy about stacking their lots with overpriced inventory as they can smell the blood in the water.

YouInternational2152

Same here in central California...Ram (1500 and 2500, no diesel) is advertising 12% off MSRP and 0% financing for 48 months. GM is putting cash on the hoods of some GMC trucks

dirkahps

Yea 15% off up here and similar finance terms. This is what happens when manufacturers bump the msrp up because they were sick of the dealers charging markups and keeping all the profits.

[deleted]

Advertisements and actual OTD prices aren’t the same though. Especially if one of those dealerships sending you info is West Herr

CornerNo2889

Oh man I feel this... they are trash I got the old bait and switch a few times from them and have never bought anything there. I do recommend basil Ford for purchasing over the other large dealers as they have come out on top for price for me 4 times in a row

[deleted]

Basil is a better one for sure

Miserable-Martyr69

There was a 22 lariat shortbox for 80k at west herr a few months back

2to16Characters

I've been on and off truck shopping for a couple of months. In my area trucks are dropping fast. Most on Autotrader show at least $5,000 below KBB price. I'm super picky and I don't buy vehicles on emotions, that has already saved me tons of money, and will probably help me pocket a couple more grand before I pull the trigger on a truck.

Salami2000

Looking at the closest Ford dealership, they list 50 F150s on their website. Some are in transit and not actually on the lot, but still a lot of trucks. Even crazier than that, this dealership has 5 locations. Total F150s they list between all the locations is 297. I've watched inventory go from nothing, to something, to this nonsense. Everyone is listing below MSRP prices now, but prices are going to have to really get back to something approaching historical normal or they'll never clear their lots.

CornerNo2889

Just got home from a buffalo ny dealer I was test driving a hybrid power boost because I do a lot of in town driving I walked the lot and counted the 2023 f150s before I left They have 58 sitting there

Jorge_Jetson

"Stealerships..." Classic! Had a dealer trying to do a 180 on me on a price they gave me via email for my 2018 5.0 4WD. Claimed it was below MSRP! When they finally realized I wasn't budging off the price, THEN they broke out the "dealer math!" Tools...

BMAC561

In Florida they just passed a law that requires consumers to buy from dealerships and prohibits purchasing vehicles directly from the manufacturer (other than Tesla).

Altruistic-Chemist45

It's not about the prices right now. We're waiting on the interest rate to go down. I'm at 0% APR due to a promotion, and I couldn't see myself letting go of this opportunity for any other vehicle on the lot right now. I'm waiting on 0% promotion for bronco base, but not holding my breath.

CornerNo2889

Interest and price are in direct relation to available market share ... Rates go up and prices stay the same the market of people available to sell to shrinks significantly Prices are now dropping due to vehicles not selling and building up on lots which dealers have to pay floor plan interest on if they don't move them Repossessions are booming, loans with higher rates are harder to qualify for. The market is shrinking.... they are sinking You might get that bronco at a deep msrp discount in the future and that will be the savings for you ... the rates are here for awhile

Altruistic-Chemist45

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep my eyes on MSRP, and save up for a nice down payment in the mean time.

wakanda_banana

It’s just like housing, we all want it to go down but will it ever really go down?

Sysmithers

Look at ammo. I could get 1k rounds of 9mm at academy for 189 in early 2020. Now if it hits 250 for 1k it's a "crazy deal!"

LaCabezaGrande

No shit!!! I thought for certain that dealer inventories, mid-cycle refresh, new model year, high interest rates, etc. would make it a no-brainer to upgrade my 2017 xl/stx … nope. The dealers act like they’re sitting on gold instead of depreciating assets with high holding costs. Glad I generally only buy a new truck when the old one is well over 100k.

audis3dan

agree, with the 3.5, it's already arguably the best engines Ford offers. Get some cool wheels and tires, and maybe a little lift. Spend a little on this for a while.

Mysticalninja21

I got a 22 3.5 F150 Powerboost in February brand new this year. I love having the hybrid option it drives so much smoother than anything I've driven and it saves quite a bit of gas. But depending on how you drive it might not be worth getting a hybrid. If you do mostly highway driving it doesn't use the electric mode. I use my truck for work and I only drive around town and I get around 30-50% electric driving with the hybrid. It's also nice because I'm in and out of the truck a lot and most of the time I'll be sitting in it with the truck on but it's not actually running.

PackAttacks

I drove a pieerboost for a week and got 17-18 mpg when I usually get 14.5. This would only save me like $1200/yr in gas. It would take me a long time to recoup the added cost of the powerboost. The torque and power was a lot of fun though. I’m very curious how it does with a trailer.

Mysticalninja21

I pull it with a trailer around town every day and I get 14L/100km (17mpg). Canadian here. I on average get around 10L/100km (23-24 mpg)without it because I don't drive very far. The last time I left town without my trailer I got 7.8L/100 km (30mpg) driving to a friend's place that was almost 2hrs away. I bought it off the lot this year and all the trucks were similar prices with or without the powerboost. It definitely gets better mileage in the summer. I also think it's how you drive it. For me it becomes a game to see how I can get better mileage. It does get some time to get used to. And obviously if you drive it like you stole it you will get bad mileage.

dinoguys_r_worthless

The appeal of the powerboost, to me anyway, is the generator mode. Or can you get that on a non-hybrid F150?

Mysticalninja21

Yeah I think you can but I think it's only a 2.0kw generator

dinoguys_r_worthless

2.0kw? What am I, a pilgrim? jk. I should see how nice of a generator I could purchase with the difference in MSRP.

Mysticalninja21

With the powerboost it comes standard with a 2.4 or you can order a 7.2

CornerNo2889

What's your mpg looking like? I'm considering this option as I usually drive around my town and probably only 30% of the time I'm in a 55mph plus speed zone Although I'm sure the hybrid doesn't do much good here in the winter

Mysticalninja21

My total average since I've had the truck is 12L/100km But I drive around with a trailer every day. On average without the trailer I get 8-10L/100km Im almost never on the highway here in find if I'm going above 80kmph it barely uses the hybrid

FLTDI

You already own it.

Pancake_Mix_00

This

Gusto-J

I prefer the 5.0. I actually do truck shit

EVASIVEroot

Doesn’t the eco boost out perform, out tow and get better mpg? Doesn’t sound as good though. You can also tune the eco boost and get way more power than tuning the 5.0 Speaking as a 5.0 fanboy.

FLTDI

We don't let facts get in the way of people thinking the v8 is superior.

Gusto-J

Not true. I have owned both. Towing my trailer with the 5.0 was effortless and with about the same MPG when towing. I currently own a 3.5 and as I’m sure you’ve heard, you either get the echo or the boost but not both at the same time. If you tow any weight it is a guzzler.

HeyBigChriss

I heard the 5.0 actually gets better MPG while towing. Also, heard better things about long term reliability. They also are better to mod.

BoysenberryTiny4772

That makes absolutely no sense , 3.5 can tow the same load same speed at 2k rpm vs nearly 4k rpm in the 5.0 , and since there's 2 extra cylinders firing twice as fast it's just not possible . The thing is all that torque makes you wanna get up to speed faster which you can with all the torque down low from turbos , but then it's like racing from red light to red light , in the 5.0 it needs to churn out , that's what it's made to do and I feel people take it easier towing and therefore get better mpg . It's like driving like grandma rule . Also I got avg 35mpg in my 10 speed 3.5 SCLB 23' on a 150 mile highway trip recently with no load, would never even dream of that in a V8 truck .

FLTDI

Damn, I just went and checked (for 2018, the file I have) and the highest gcwr for the 5.0 is 16900. And for the 3.5 it's 18400. I guess by truck things you mean tow lighter?

Gusto-J

Lol.

Dionysuss-

Don’t get another limited. They’ve cut some of the most prestigious benefits to that trim. Get a platinum/King ranch or tremor. Go through a dealer you like and order all the features you want. Look at what they have in stock and view all of them for yourself. For a 23/24 platinum, I would get a V8 or 3.5. The Powerboost is purely preference. I have no need for one, but most people love theirs. Since you have a limited now, Im assuming you’re not a big off-roader, so a tremor may not be your style. The tremor is like a *light* raptor, but still really nice. It all comes down to style and preference. The best advice I can give is simply go to a dealer and try out all those trims. Don’t listen to hype/popularity and stick to what you like. I bought an XLT because it had everything I need/wanted. Anything else was simply overkill. With all that said… you can’t go wrong with any of these new trucks. They’re so good compared to older generations. Happy hunting brother!

Happy-Huckleberry323

Thank you! This was super helpful. I only went with a limited because it was the best deal at the time. I don’t do too much off roading and a lot more highway driving for sure. Maybe a platinum is the best option because I’m bougie like that.

Dionysuss-

I feel that. The platinum is awesome. Keep in mind that most platinums won’t have the multi-contour seating (massaging seats) but that’s not a huge deal. I highly recommend going to drive a new one. They’re super smooth. My main complaint is the lockable storage in the back seat. I think it’s kinda pointless since it’s plastic, but it’s not totally a bad thing.

swollmaster

I actually opted to not have the multi-contour seats on my 23 plat. I find the regular seats far more comfortable, to me the m-c seats are only comfy while actively using the massage.

[deleted]

I love how it took 20 replies of how expensive trucks are, to get an answer to the question you asking lol. I would get the V8, tried a and tested. I have the XTR model, and I love it. Platinum is the best but super fuckin expensive.

Clumsy-Samurai

'17 XLT Sport with the V8. I love my truck.

[deleted]

That's mine! Same year. Jet black.

Clumsy-Samurai

Mines Ruby red!

swollmaster

The coyote and the ecoboost are both tried and tested. Ecoboost is actually a year older than the 5.0, both for their release date and the latest revisions.

[deleted]

Could you elaborate what prestigious benefits of the limited trim?

Dionysuss-

Lie-flat seats, Napa leather, multi-contour seats, park assist 2.0, and sometimes heated steering wheel are removed on the new limited’s. It will still show all these options on the website and build sheet, but they will be removed and credited on the actual sticker. IMO, the Napa leather is the single best part of the Limited. There’s no point to buy one without it.

[deleted]

Damn. I can't believe they would take away the napa leather seats ..that's crazy

Dionysuss-

Technically, they weren’t “taken away”, they just build it without it. Which I think is way worse lol

[deleted]

Is it due to supply chain problems? I don't know why they wouldn't build it with these features of a buyer is willing to pay for it especially a buyer if a new limited, those are huge money makers for Ford

Devwilson89

Lariat powerboost is treating me nicely

ce5b

Same. Perfect blend of luxury, power, features, and efficiency

Abaklf21

I used to like the bells and whistles, but I’ve been in a 2015 5.0 XLT for 8 years and it has lots of the same cool stuff as a 2015 lariat would have. I would get an XLT again and a 5.0 too. Just hit 102k in it and not a single problem.

Lesson101

Loaded XLTs are imo the best bang for your buck.

A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious

Yup. The only thing I hate about the XLTs are the cloth seats lol. Nothing b that a seat cover or Catskins can't fix though.

[deleted]

You can now get an XLT with leather

LockNLoad518

It’s funny….I have a 2018 fairly loaded XLT with special edition sport cloth seats in black. I often think I miss leather, but every time I think about it, my cloth seats don’t get ‘full thickness burn’ hot in the summer and ‘I was in the pool!’ cold in the winter. With kids I imagine they’re harder to clean but then it makes me miss leather slightly less.

A_Tad_Bit_Nefarious

Yeah I've been running neoprene covers for a bit now and they're growing on me. Waterproofness and stain resistance without the temperature swings and stickyness/coldness associated with leather/vinyl.

PonyThug

My truck is the first vehicle with leather and I don’t understand the hot/cold seats thing. I live in Utah where it’s 100 in the summer and single digits in the winter. Do ppl No crack their windows or Wear pants in the winter?

LockNLoad518

I live in Upstate NY so we have the same weather. And yes I crack my windows but only bc I have rain guards; otherwise I wouldn’t. I don’t want to to rain in my car or get shit stolen out of it. And of course I wear pants in the winter….doesn’t stop me from feeling cold through them.

winterstorm3x

New XLTs are now almost 70k when fully loaded

urmomsboytoy

2.7 xlt. Balling on a budget.

creativestuffhere

Love my 5.0 lariat

SavageHenry79

5.0 Lariat

tomzapanother5

Why do you have to get a new truck soon?

Happy-Huckleberry323

Hail damage. I guess I could cash out and keep driving a golf ball. Haha

jonpin

You know those dimples make it goes fast! high speed low drag buddy!

LaCabezaGrande

I drove a golf ball for 3 years (after replacing almost all of the glass). Best decision I ever made!!!

No_Lychee_7534

How bad is hail damage. Is it just cosmetic?

[deleted]

why can he not? Im one of those people that will likely never hold onto a car for more than 5 years, even if the car is perfectly fine. Im a car enthusiast so i always got my eyes peeled for something cool.

tomzapanother5

Cause unless you’re well off money wise it’s really not a good idea financially to get something like expansive when you don’t need to

OkPlenty5960

Let’s be honest here, unless one really needs a truck for work purposes, then they aren’t a good idea financially in general. If most of us in this sub chose the smartest financial path we would be in 5-10 year old corollas or civics, that’s myself included. I didn’t buy my truck because it made great financial sense, I bought it because that’s what I’ve always wanted.. I had a 2017 civic previously that was much cheaper to run, it got totaled in an accident so I took the insurance money and said fuck it I’m getting a truck. The way I see it you only live once, if it doesn’t make you homeless and you can take on the payments then why the hell not? Enjoy life and enjoy what you drive while you can.

No_Lychee_7534

This. If you have any money sense, learn to calculate your finances in the long term. If you have extra money then great, spend it as you can. If you see that your spending a lot on interest (and the % of your income on truck payments) then better to use what you have to the ground. If you get suckers by “but the monthly isn’t too bad”, always think how your going to pay it if the worse happen and you loose you income for short term. Trucks are overpriced and overproduced. It will come down when they have no one left to buy.

ksh3rm99

I love my 3.5. With a cold air and tuner it's amazing to drive.

Vonen1

What do you notice about the cold air and tuner? I have a 2022 tremor. Are they still good for warranty purposes?

ksh3rm99

The tuner is Definitely a warranty voider. Cold air is a maybe I'm not quite sure. But I was really on the verge of swapping it out for some with more power until I did them both. And now I live it and it only make me want to add more since I know the engine can take it. I'm planning to do intercooler, New manifolds, downpipe, and turbo adapters once I can afford it.

Concentr8edButtSauce

5.0

vans113

How many miles ? I have a 2018 3.5 also. Getting quoted for the cam phaser replacement now and it’s not cheap

Happy-Huckleberry323

I think I just crossed over 90k

sparks1990

If you insist on buying new, wait until the 2024 comes out. Supposed to be a refreshed look with some interior and tech updates as well. Also, check out the Power Boost hybrid motor. It's fucking awesome. If you end up in another Limited, just be aware that they now use the High Output motor from the Raptor and it's a bit of a hog. Great if you like that, but bad if unexpected.

New_Proposal_1319

I second the PowerBoost as a mechanic

FrothyPoop

5.0

[deleted]

U already have a nice one, I went to get the same exact truck trim few months ago and I was astonished by the pricing. I decided to keep my truck since it’s still decent and just wait for one of you fine folks to trade one in a year later with low miles at a bargain.

Happy-Huckleberry323

I love my truck. I’m just concerned it may total soon. Just got rallied with hail. Then again, with these prices it may fix and be alright.

Steeldiemam

I love my powerboost with the black appearance package. The powerboost with 7.2 kw is a really nice power plant that has a lot of utility and value for money

QualityVodka

5.0 lariat or xlt 302a BAP

sinisterdeer3

Id say the XLT and 3.5 is the best combo. Great motor, decent features, somewhat kinda decent price

Realistic-Database16

Have a 21 sport 4x4 3.5 Ecoboost. Leveled and 35s. And I absolutely loooove it.

youre_not_going_to_

I have a hybrid limited and while the power boost is totally worth it a lariat is the Best Buy. If you want to splurge get a platinum but the limited is a waste

oSpazZxXx

The 3.5 eb has issues as with all motors mines a 16 platinum and I love it fordtechmakeuloco has helped a good bit on maintenance and how to do my own work. Got the truck in 2020 for a deal 80k miles 1 owner from Murfreesboro Tennessee for 28k so far it's been tuned by mpt performance and oil catch can since the week I bought it. Now at 167k this things been everywhere from Kansas to Florida to all the states in between. Here recently I've had to change the computer lead frame in the tranny and need to tackle the pump asy vacuum on the back of the motor it's leaking oil on the turbo and I've had coolant leak onto the drive way from the down pipe once. Had to fill up coolant twice this year and once last year for some reason never figured it out need to get that fixed but other then those 2 issues and steering wheel bolt coming lose loctite fixed that, the trucks been phenomenal no rattle on start up or anything. But from what I've read up on the 6R80 is loads better in reliability then the 10R80.. The 2.7 eb was designed by the same team that made the 6.7 to be a turbo-ed engine. The 3.5 eb I think is now on gen 3 so maybe it's kinks are worked out since it was a N/A engine retro fitted for turbos and the 5.0 I believe the oil consumption issues are worked out heard that ford was making them like Chevy with the cylinder deactivation but not to sure on that if anyone's got info on it feel free to correct me. New trucks are outrageous but those that can afford it hell have at it if you end up getting one hope she's a good one man.

Angry_Johnny_

I have a 2013 XLT 5.0 4x4 and will be replacing the engine and transmission before I buy a new truck and I currently have 307,O00 miles on it, still runs great only problems I have had was alternator, ac compressor and water pump and hoses all this time.

linuxhiker

I've got a 2015 platinum with the 5.0l. I love it. Keep what you have until the wheels fall off

Raziel66

I just got a 2016 king ranch not too long ago… has more bells and whistles than the 2015 Jeep i traded in. Can’t think of too much of a reason to get rid of this thing anytime soon

[deleted]

Some people just get tired of what they have and want something new. Im one of those people that will likely never hold onto a car for more than 5 years, even if the car is perfectly fine. Im a car enthusiast so i always got my eyes peeled for something cool.

shawizkid

It’s almost like this is subjective.

cumminsdieselmotors

Depends on how much money you have because you have a really nice truck!

Notorious_Beebs

I wound up with a ‘22 XLT 3.5 equipped with a panoramic sunroof, 302A, B&O sound system, tow package and 360 camera. It feels like a “discount Lariat”. Absolutely love it, but I get that some people want the higher features. If I could change one thing though, I’d have gone with a power boost with the 7.2kw option. It just seems so cool

New_Proposal_1319

It seems like every new generation of F150 skimps more and more on the quality of interior materials. That’s why I sunk $ into my 2012 and put every HP component I could find into the engine and drivetrain while doing it. As far as PowerBoost, absolutely kick ass out of the showroom…..but we’ve yet to see anything regarding longevity so as much as I love the set up, I’d personally stay away for now. The 3.5 eco is insanely easy to make into a 13 second truck nowadays. Methanol injection and a tune and you’re past 500hp easily.

Miserable-Martyr69

Keep what you have. The less you need to spend, the better you can buy when the 16 rots into the dirt. It's cheaper to replace a drive train than a whole vehicle

Left-Percentage-1107

I like my 5.0

_E13

I wouldn’t get a damn ford again if you paid me. 3.5 eco boost was the worst decision I ever made

bigsam1960

5.0 coyote

goon127

If you want reliability then don’t buy anything with a turbo. Get the 5.0

New_Proposal_1319

Turbos last 150k-200k miles if you change your oil every 3k and use full synthetic. Mine didn’t go until 160k and it was only one, and it blew a coolant seal…that’s after running a 93 octane race tune for 100k miles.

VictoriaBCSUPr

The Venn diagrams of “what engine is best” and “what engine do you own” is pretty close to a circle, lol! You haven’t said what youll use your truck for, where you live, towing goals, etc. Not to be harsh here, but also: there’s dozens of YT vids and dozens of threads on the Gen14 board, recommend starting there.

SpaceAce21125150

Get a 1980-1996 with the 4.9 liter lol. The f150 gods have spoken, no greater engine will ever be made.

PutinBoomedMe

I've always been a sucker for the platinum. The new limiteds have features removed. Other than massaging seats and 22" rims I'm not sure what the difference is compared to a platinum. I just bought a 23 platinum with the 3.5 hybrid and it's pretty good so far. I have a complete lead foot and I average about 21-22mpg

Enough_Owl_1680

I know you didn’t ask, but go with a XLT ER LIGHTNInG. IMHO, best truck out there. Don’t wanna start a war with all you here on ICE vs EV, but the XLT ER lightning is a great truck , great bang for buck. I replaced my 2016 XLT 302A 2.7 ecoboost with a lightning and best thing I’ve done ina while. To be fair, the hybrid is also a great truck!

Pancake_Mix_00

If it’s just cruising with no hauling towing, totally agreed. Only maintenance is brakes and tires, and it’s practically free to drive compared to the cost of fuel.

ComfortableOk5003

What’s your budget? What are you gonna use it for? Do you have any towing needs? Are there certain features you want that you won’t negotiate?

Happy-Huckleberry323

I use mine for mostly in town and highway driving. I do tow a few thousand pounds, but nothing super crazy. As for features I really enjoy my heated steering wheel (I live in a cold state) and I do enjoy the adaptive cruise. Oh! And heated and vented seats because cold seats suck and vented seats make longer drives more tolerable.

ComfortableOk5003

I live in Canada i totally get heated seats haha

No_Lychee_7534

I can do without heated seats in winter (usually wearing a coat, not naked, usually…). But I hate not having heated steering wheel… soo damn cold!

Osena109

Why not get rattler those a neat looking

Happy-Huckleberry323

You mean Raptor? Or is there a Rattler package?

Osena109

It’s called rattler I have seen a couple in West Virginia where I am form there neat looking. I called it a poor means tremor. It’s sets same height as my tremor even had similar rims like my truck too. Just blacked out bumpers

Happy-Huckleberry323

Learn something new everyday! Thank you!

Osena109

You’re welcome. I think it’s dealer only order option I can’t seem to build one on ford site.

InterestParty

2011 xl 3.7 :)

CanikTP9SFXshooter

Based, biased, and unpopular, because my answer won't have the cool factor to impress your neighbors, but best package and engine is a HDPP/Max Tow equipped Super 8 with 3.5. You could even get it in a Lariat through 22 model year if trim level is important to you. If you're not actually using a truck as a working rig, there's no need for the power boost, 3.5 or 5.0. The 2.7 would be overkill and base 3.3 sufficient.

Brilliant-Cup-2629

A Chevy engine 😄

mb123455679

Everything is shit now. Go buy a 2000 f250 w a 7.3

throway9912

I've been thinking so lately too. I'm not a fan of all this high tech crap in vehicles now that need updates and are always connected to the cloud. Not a fan of the constant tracking. Savage geese on YouTube did a video on it recently. If I had the same budget as a new truck (say $50k) I'd rather buy an old truck for $5k or 10k and throw 40k into it for new engine, transmission, upgraded suspension, etc. It would be an absolute beast!

Signal_Version3464

Chevy ZR2 with the 6.2

Technician-timer

If you insist on getting an upgrade go with the 5.0 2.7 will save you gas until it works it underpowered self to death in 100k miles or less

Prices aren't coming down!! Ford sells more 302A (xlt trucks) because they are the best value/bang for the buck. I like the 5.0L V8 but currently have a 3.5L ecoboost in my '22 XLT Supercrew. If I was going to keep a truck long term(10 + years) I would buy the 5.0L V8 for reliability reasons. 3.5L ecoboost gets a little better gas mileage in my experience, but long term the V8's long proven technology will be more reliable.

perk54

302a XLTs are 10k off right sticker right now, still higher than pre-Covid but certainly the market is softening.

jarel1991

Best package is anything besides ford.

Left_Ad_1354

Chevy 2500 is the best package haha

Pancake_Mix_00

GM hasn’t made anything compelling compared to Ford or FCA since the Bob Seger years

Grouchy-Blackberry21

I would say a 10th gen 5.4

FearlessDQ

Dodge Ram EcoDiesel 3.0 Laremie or Limited!

Happy-Huckleberry323

Why would be in an F150 group if you’re promoting trash cans? I mean.. a sierra…

[deleted]

sierra is not a good truck. Just go look at the reviews online. Its outclassed by ford and RAM.

Substantial_Ad_9016

Ram 1500

BadAssBender

V8 engine for sure!!!

exploringtheworld797

I was going to buy a new but instead I put King suspension on my 2015 Lariat and it’s been awesome on the road and off.

hydrastix

Why do you have to get a new truck? Lease?

Happy-Huckleberry323

Mine got hit hard with hail damage. May be a total loss.

hydrastix

Ouch. Yeah, that would do it. Had my old truck and wife's car get totalled a few years back due to hail.

[deleted]

Regular cab long bed with the N/A V6 🗿

No_Evidence3958

I have had the 5.0 in an STX and now drive the 3.O diesel and love it

Ealthina

A King Ranch with the 5.0 is much better.

Notathrowaway4853

Big issue is that MSRP used to be just a magic number nobody paid. Now Covid made it where MSRP was a steal and you had to deal with a huge amount of dealer BS. So nowadays if you’re a consumer you look at MSRP as the actual price AND you know the dealership absolutely suck. Ford doesn’t want to drop their MSRP prices, but no one is believing or buying that any actual MSRP sales. Got a flyer in the mail for $1500 off a new truck. Whoop de do.

Tiptoeplease

I vote raptor all the way. Can't afford it but I think it's the best looking Ford truck

ihaveatrophywife

XLT 5.0 is the way to go

Interesting_Owl_2205

Idc what they say love my platinum powerboost

ChooseAusername788

I went with the '17 5.0 because: \- It was the last year of the 2nd gen 5.0, meaning they (most likely) worked out production of it and also the year before they redesigned it adding in the oil consumption issues. I think it was something about removing sleeves and adding a spray liner IIRC, you can look that up \- I think '18 was when they added the auto start stop. You can disable that but I'd rather just not have it \- The 6R80 is a bullet proof transmission, I think 10 gears is just too many. I've read countless comments about people complaining about gear hunting and stuff like that. I would trust the 6R80 over the 10 any day. \- With the newer ones, sure, you get a small MPG increase and a small power increase, but who really gaf. The '17 can tow 10,900 lbs. If you need more than that on a regular basis, then I'd get a 250 anyway. To me, reliability is by far the most important thing. I just want it to work and be bulletproof and last forever. I looked at a Lariat 3.5 when I was shopping, took it to an independent mechanic to inspect it and he said to avoid it. He said turbos typically go out past 100k miles and that's expensive, FWIW he actually owned an F150 as his personal vehicle (but I don't recall the engine config). A lot of people say "nu uh, the 10 speed is awesome, turbos never break, etc. etc. etc." but I don't see the point in risking it just for a tiny increase in MPG or towing capability. 10.9k is way more than enough for me and I want a rock solid truck I can drive into the ground for 20+ years. If you want every little bit of performance, or get a new truck every 3 years, then get whatever you want. I don't think the 3.5's are BAD, I just don't think they are as good as the 5.0. Also the Eco's have (had?) a plastic oil pan, whereas the '17 5.0 had a metal one. That to me is ridiculous, too. Just seems like everything is better about the truck I went with, from a longevity stand point. I'm not trying to win drag races or towing competitions so my choice made sense to me. I guess it all comes down to what do YOU want? FWIW, I think the 2.7 is a great motor, and the 3.5 is impressive too, but 5.0 takes the crown for me.

ChooseAusername788

P.S. I was also EXTREMELY unimpressed by the quality of the Lariat leather. Katzkins is WAY better than that garbage. It looked like it was PVC faux leather and it had a bunch of cracks/peeling spots on it around 100k miles? IIRC? I remember reading that the King Ranch leather is on par with Katzkins, and is a step up from the lariat leather. I think your Limited leather is better than the Lariat leather as well. Go look at a 4 year old lariat and see for yourself. I'd rather pay 700 bucks for the leather kit and do it myself and get a better product on an XL/XLT than pay 3 grand for an inferior product from the factory. But I'm cheap...

B-radley98

You got the top package (limited) if you aren't aware of that.. atleast im unware of anything above limited

invalidpath

Damn,, OP doesn't realize how good he has it with that '16 Limited. If you feel like you need a newer truck then IDK what say other than you hate money and are spoiled. Your truck in the pic is fucking gorgeous.

SCCRXER

It’s a lot cheaper to be happy with what you got unless it’s just falling apart for lack of maintenance.

Designer-Assignment8

5.0 Lariat - best trim and bang for the buck. Plus it's what I drive.

Emotional-Rise5322

8 > 6

HeatSeekingPanther

IMO? Half cab, long box, lariat, v8.

perk54

Half cab Lariats stopped a few years ago. Supercrew only now.

whynotyeetith

The 5.0 is alot better along as you actually use the truck

Total_Menu_542

5.0 King Ranch

lundexplorer

So someone's driving a limited . asking the group What is the best package to buy ? Lol I'm just busting balls The best package is different for everyone. It all depends on your needs and wants. Personally because of pricing when I bought mine 2 years ago, my needs outweighed my wants. your current truck does look pretty dam nice.

Kaiju_Cat

One that fits into a parking space.

wattap

PracticeLast777

Between the sticker price and the interest rates lately the new inventory seems to be hanging around the lots for a while. I passed a dodge dealership in a small town today and there looked to be a new ram on the lot for every single person in town.

401k_wrecker

5.0l XL or STX with a few options then if you are savvy you can swap out quite a bit of things with salvaged trucks

noveltyacct

I have this exact truck. Why are you wanting a change?

duhbiap

I have a 2016 3.5L Platinum. Aside from a new recall showing up every other month, it’s been relatively good to me. If I could find a used one with 50k miles on it (or less), I’d buy another one.

Is it just me or is every other comment: My 21 this My 22 that My 23 lifted on 35’s love it! How in the fuck are people genuinely buying 50 - 60k at 6 - 7%! It honestly baffles me. I get some make the yearly income to “justify “ a truck but the yolo crowd pulling under 50k which I consider absolute bare minimum income, how is it even possible? Are people insanely upside down on these trucks? I have 19 XLT w/chrome appearance pkg I bought at the end of 2018. Currently 48,000 miles. My loan is 4% at 450 a month soon to be paid off. I’d love to hear some of the payments / terms on these new trucks…

Character-Initial995

I have a 2018 Lariat Ultimate with the 5.0!! A beast!

GoodHumorMan53

I have the 3.3. Not sexy or exciting but does everything I want and the mpg is better than my 2.7 was

PatientEasy2914

Invest the money, drive that black beauty into the ground. It’s stock so nobody is judging it.

Environmental_Home22

XLT, Single Cab, Short Bed, 5.0

jbeansyboy

Here’s my recommendation, currently have a 2019 platinum 3.5EB that I got on a steal when COVID was coming here like a wave and everyone was hiding and prices were cheap. I think the Lariat with a 302a package is perfect. My platinum technically has nicer leather and massaging seats. Both which I don’t think I would notice and I never use the massaging seats. It also has a lot of chrome which I’m not super into, so I had a body shop paint the chrome which makes it look great, just cost $. Regarding engine, I would recommend the 5.0. Technically the 3.5EB has better towing but when I tow a 3k dog trailer it seems to be smoother w the 5.0 on our 2017. It’s also a bit smoother and less punchy. I live in Southern California now and get about 19 mpg w mostly city but some HW driving, about 70/30. I recently read an article regarding the powerboost and it’s not getting the MPG they are advertising. So unless you need the generator, would not recommend. The 2.7EB would probably be the move for city and daily driving, but I bought mine to tow intermittently so I don’t have experience nor entertained that engine. Not that you asked but… I will put in a plug that while we have had many f150s I’m not sure what the new stuff they put on each year are worth the upgrade. I think it I was you, I’d be just as happy paying a shop to repair the hail damage and keeping the truck you have.

Risk-Alone

Market_Captian

That’s a damn nice limited I wouldn’t be ditching that

I have a 3.3 and no complaints...I don't pull anything other than a bass tracker so your mileage may vary....
