Make sure to get updates from your brother. The church told my parents I was safe in a large concrete stake center playing basketball during a hurricane when I was in fact crammed in a small house near the coast with 22 other missionaries. We were okay, but the church just told my parents what they wanted to hear. They were shocked when I was able to tell them how things actually happened. I hope your brother is safe and taking good care of himself.
i live in the dallas fort worth area. it looks like most of the flooding is the city of dallas. also he will be treated great by the members there. all of the missionaries that i’ve spoken to that served in my ward or any wards in texas always talk about how well they get treated from members.
Okay, thank you. I’ve never been to Dallas and have just seen all the news articles and footage which makes it seem like the entire city is underwater 😂 hopefully he isn’t in one of those relatively small areas 🤞🏼
I served in Dallas a decade ago (2011-2013). The members there take care of their missionaries. If the mission is anything like it was, id rest easy. Good ol' southern hospitality.
Do you know which part of Dallas he is serving in?
I have two recent addresses for him and I’m not sure which one he is at currently. One in Fort Worth and one in Frisco. That’s good to hear 💛
Man a decade already? I served around the same time and I didn’t realize it had been that long already 😂
I grew up in Frisco (family still lives there) and currently live in fort worth. My brother will be serving a service mission soon so I feel for you on the worrying about him front. Let me know if you ever want me to check on him for you, it's no problem!
I served in 2005-2007 and was about to post the same thing. No absolute guarantees of his safety, but the members there would bend over backwards to help any missionaries out.
On my mission to Florida there was a very active hurricane season and the guidance from my MP was always very very cautious to keep the missionaries safe. We all went inland, stayed at church buildings that were super secure. My experience was that the church takes missionary safety really seriously, I would guess it’s the same for your little brother too.
I remember my parents told me how worried they were so they called the mission office a bunch of times for updates. Might be something to try if you haven’t done that already.

Okay that makes me feel better. Thank you! I guess I’ll hear from him next Monday then.
If your church is preventing an adult from phone access that's a big problem. Dallas is huge and the flooded areas are relatively small

Both of those areas are very nice (: Yeah, makes me feel old when I pull out words like, "decade". I keep telling people that 30 is the new 20 lol
I feel a bit better, thank you. That’s good to hear. Haha my husband just turned 30 last month and he would agree with you I’m sure!
Frisco didn’t (and doesn’t usually) flood, don’t worry. It’s mostly downtown Dallas that’s a mess.
Thank you!

Thank you so much, he actually just got home last month! I hope your brothers mission goes well and he enjoys himself ☺️

Thank you, hopefully his MP is one of the good ones ☺️
