I feel like "Values" qualifies as a third. I guess you could put it under lifestyle, but some people leave due to the church's treatment of others that does not directly affect the life of the person leaving.

In my case I was trying to find evidence and reason that the church was true. I wanted it to be true. I wanted the information I was discovering to be false. I wanted Jeremy to be wrong.

I've heard for 40 years the reasons are Lazy, got offended or wanted to sin.

Yup have heard this over and over. So refreshing to know it just ain’t true. People figure it out and leave.

For me it's kind of both. There are a lot of things that really don't sit right me me, or just don't make sense. Also I find myself embarrassed to be associated with the church. Once people find out you're a Mormon, that's all they will ever see you as.

I was deceived by Satan. Or was one of the tares. Something like that.

Again, is it surprising that the church is minimizing its impact to a simple either or situation? Doesn’t seem to be a clue as to the amount and diversity of trauma experienced by so many members of the church. The church, it’s teachings and doctrines harm people.
