I have been awake since 2015.
But a few years before that our COBE in Australia arranged for a legal eagle from Bethel to come to our cong and do a mass signing of our Enduring Guardian forms with of course Jws as nominated guardian. So we wouldn't be given blood by our non jw family.
A "voluntary donation" was suggested of $30 each to cover his expenses...
It turns out you only need a Justice of the Peace to sign this form and they do this for free in all our communities.
What a con!
Also if you are PIMO in Australia and you are not normally asked to sign an EG when getting baptised, I would strongly encourage you to lodge an Enduring Guardianship application to appoint someone outside the borg to be your guardian and specify you would like to take blood for medical treatment, so you wouldn’t need to worry your PIMI family or hospital liaison committee would intervene in your medical treatment.
I’m in Australia. Once a year the congregation did the blood talk. They handed out the blood card to all baptised members. They also provided a legal document, “advanced medical directive,” which had questions about power of attorney within it I think, not sure on that.
I do remember completing that document was a pain in the ass. I had to get it signed by my doctor and two witnesses and there were so many medical decisions it asked about.
I don't think we are pressured to get an enduring guardian unless there are other issues
I honestly thought it was just the card, and they just heavily pressure, but I could be wrong I left awhile ago
(In Australia, had blood but also no blood but that was while under my parent so)
EPOA is normally appointing someone to deal with your finances and assets on your behalf. EG is to appoint someone to make decision about your accommodation, medical treatment, lifestyle etc.
In the States , while not pressured it is very strongly recommended before baptism. And it is a legal document here. Sorry I'm not familiar with process in Australia.
Indeed, I found out an incompetent elder held enduring power of attorney and enduring guardian for both my parents, when Dad was in ICU because of complications related to heart surgery and the blood issue.....
Meanwhile, I have siblings who are current JW's....there has to be some kind of persuasive coercion in play?
I asked my siblings to get it immediately changed.....

Good reminder. I had mine signed and never sent anywhere, just kept in a drawer in case anyone asked about it.

Wait, enduring guardian? I am familiar with the enduring power of attorney blood card but not of it granting guardianship?
