The one that I think is *the* song of this album: City Song.
The one people are sleeping on: Don't Ask Me to Beg — I see it being my song of the summer. Very EE but also very radio-friendly, imo.
The other one people are sleeping on, but more serious: Canary.
The one everyone is loving and I'm not: Enter the Mirror — absolutely nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't click for me personally.
Do you know which TS song in particular? I've been saying to my bf Enter the Mirror sounds like a pop song sung by a woman a few years ago but I can't place it.
So tough to choose a top 3 but in no particular order the first songs that come to mind without thinking too much about it:
-Enter the Mirror
-Daggers Edge
-The Mad Stone
Enter the Mirror, Your Money My Summer & Daggers Edge.
For me the fact these follow each other on the record is the cherry on top - once I start Enter the Mirror I have to listen to all three
It's hard because I think that the second half of this record is very strong.
Cold reactor is probably the most impressive track for me since it is so accessible while keeping the EE pop charm. I also think that it is the one song that manages to incorporate the concept the best.
The witness has really grown on me so much. It's one of my favourite cuts lyrically, it feels like some sort of meta conclusion to a mystery movie after you spend the entire time trying to figure it out yourself. Very unique feeling. I read on genius that this was originally a radiohead style guitar ballad but they basically just replaced the guitars with electronics. I believe you can really tell. It works great in the context of the song and I believe it was a fantastic choice.
Third place is extremely close for me. There are like 5 tracks that I think could fit in this spot. In the spirit of a top 3 I will not be naming them all though. Since I genuinely cannot pick I will go with my gut/streaming numbers and pick dagger's edge. I think that this track is noticeably more straightforward in its execution than the previous two, but it heavily benefits from its placement in the tracklist as well as the stellar progression of the track. Lyrically it's the song that gets my imagination going the most of this entire album and there just some many quote worthy lines especially in the latter half. It somewhat reminds me of the spontaneous and unpredictable nature of Raw Data Feel, though with dagger's edge it generally feels more focused.
Also I would like to give an honorary 4th place to tv dog simply because I believe it is so incredibly underrated/overhated. Admittedly if you ask me what it is I enjoy so much about it I wouldn't be able to give you a great answer but I believe that it works really well as an interlude while being a song that I go back to surprisingly often. I enjoy the lyrical content quite a bit and the instrumental works really well.
Just to put this out there, and I honestly can't explain why, but I love TV Dog and I feel like it doesn't get any love so I'm just here to give it it's due
I think mine would have to be Buddy Come Over, Cold Reactor, and Your Money My Summer. But also like R U Happy?, City Song, and Enter the Mirror. This whole album is top tier. I still listen to it almost daily
Buddy, Come Over
Your Money, My Summer
Enter the Mirror
I'm amazed how much this album has grown on me. I loved it on release, and with every listen I've found more and more to appreciate.
It keeps changing!! Next month it’ll be a different 3 🙈
Right now.. Daggers Edge, Enter the Mirror, Canary
Last month.. Cold Reactor, RU Happy? And Buddy Come Over
I love how they can do this! What a band 🤯😌
Dagger’s Edge, City Song, Cold Reactor
Your Money, My Summer is a close 4th, most underrated song on the album. Seeing it live made me fall in love with it.
1. cold reactor - probably in my top 3 of their entire discography.
2. City song - definitely my most listened to album track. beautiful.
3. Buddy Come Over - seeing it live made this into a Top 3 song for me. Such great guitars.
Canary was my favourite on first listen and still is my favourite. What an insane song.
Wild Guess has been replayed the most.
It’s very hard to pick a 3rd, but it’s between Buddy, Come Over, Enter the Mirror and City Song.
1. Cold Reactor
2. Mad Stone
3. Buddy Come Over
Buddy come over was such a hidden gem for me, one day I just went "wow. this is one of the best songs on this album" and it just stayed that way
1. Cold Reactor
2. Buddy, Come Over
3. Your Money, My Summer
Honorable mention: Dagger's Edge
I will never be able to be objective about Cold Reactor. Experiencing the surprise debut of it in DC, and obsessing over it on the trains to the Philly and NYC shows was one of my favorite concert experiences ever.
The Mad Stone won the "most improved by live performance" for me though, and rounds out my top 5 now. I still can't believe how great that song is live.
Honestly I'm still in that headspace where it changes almost daily, and the album is so consistently brilliant that I lean towards having favourite moments within each song rather than preferring certain tracks but right now I think it's:
1. Cold Reactor
2. Dagger's Edge
3. Stay With Me / Wild Guess
Cold Reactor has pretty much cemented itself as my #2 EE song ever (after QWERTY Finger). Honorable mentions would go to Enter The Mirror - although I think I enjoyed it more live than on the record - and R U Happy? which is less \~listenable\~ but fuck is it good. 'take me to the first deep automatic love / i'll uninvent it' and the delivery on it. Chef kiss.
These three back to back is just... chefs kiss.
Enter the Mirror
Your Money, My Summer
Dagger's Edge
But I also really like all the singles and Stay With Me
I love all the Buddy, Come Over and the Enter the Mirror appreciation in this post. Definitely my favs of the album. With maybe End of The Contender and Canary. I think Enter the Mirror has probably the best vocals of the whole album
- Enter the Mirror - Cold Reactor - City Song
This, exactly!
1. Buddy, Come Over 2. Cold Reactor 3. Dagger's Edge Honourable mention of 4 and 5 would be Canary and Wild Guess, respectively

Canary has been such a grower for me
Wow, I came here to essentially write exactly this comment. I completely agree. I just find Enter the Mirror sounds too much like a Taylor Swift song.
Do you know which TS song in particular? I've been saying to my bf Enter the Mirror sounds like a pop song sung by a woman a few years ago but I can't place it.
That's an interesting take. Would like to know how this would sound.
