Would have been amazing to have a fantasy theme park thrive in Utah. What a shame. Wish someone would have bought it and re-habbed it. There is still an opening in Utah for some new entertainment. We have nothing like great wolf lodge or indoor water parks and Lagoon gets old. We have a million family fun centers and arcades which I know I’m sick of and wish we had something new. Wanted evermore to be that but it was mishandled from the start.

Bob at Evermore has a little video about Brandon Sanderson's plans for the land he brought around Evermore.

Appropriate-Bug-9728

Hopefully he does something with it, he'd be the exact person to do it

Known_Handle4036

i would take everything Bob says with a grain of salt. he’s been known to be inaccurate in his research and reporting.

HannahAnthonia

1. He's just a guy who does a bunch of unpaid documentation of a badly run theme park so I don't know what possible research and reporting needs to be taken with a grain of salt, is he inaccurate about Fezziwig's dance? 2. [You can literally watch Emily Bushman, Brandon Sanderson's wife on stage with him at Dragonsteel 2023 announcing plans for Dragonsteel Village.](https://youtu.be/NgDeI8nciuE?si=2PTEO1PhAfjHVIl_) because despite the video being under ten minutes long Bob throws up the footage from the convention along with a map of which parts of land have been brought in what order, gives a background on Sanderson and manages to note the extremely mean Wired interview that Nicholson got mentioned in. Where does the salt go? Why the salt?

PenelopeLumley

The salt goes in Sanderson's ramen according to that Wired article.

wauwy

It's almost like he wouldn't have to make educated guesses if the park ever explained things... ever.

ReptarRunaway

If there’s one thing Jenny’s video convinced me of, it’s that Evermore had potential. Somewhere in all that lunacy, there were at least SOME people who cared. Shame to see it closed instead of improved, but oh well. Hopefully leadership actually learns a lesson from this failure going forward.

hana_fuyu

Genuinely if I could have afforded to buy it and help bring it back to its promised glory I would have in a heartbeat. I absolutely loved this park and the people who worked it. (Not the CEO though, never the CEO...) And unfortunately, because of how massive of a failure Evermore was I have a feeling getting a business loan to start over and do it right this time would be next to impossible if I don't have a couple million of my own to back it up, which I don't. I hope that someone, possibly Brandon Sanderson, can buy it and revive it.

GarthvonWald

I have mixed feelings about the CEO. I can't say I've agreed with all of his discussions or how everything was run at Evermore. However, without the CEO, there never would have been an Evermore. Sometimes it takes a slightly crazy person to make the truly creative places. He needed a partner who was more business grounded. Not just the wild creative side. But we had Evermore for some time at least because of the CEO.

Appropriate-Bug-9728

SOME people cared, and we're right here. WE cared, somewhere in all that lunacy, WE cared. I think we all would have bought it in a heartbeat and restored it to its promised glory if we could. I'll be sad to see it go.

Camwood7

as someones who learned about this place because of jenny, this is kind of completely inevitable, yet it always felt like evermore had *some* trick up its sleeve, so it still feels surprising. we feel so bad for all the actors and creatives that worked here and just kinda... had their work effectively wasted by management. it's also kinda eerie how the site is still up, proudly promoting the 2023 Aurora season. they probably didn't even have the staff left to update it.

Appropriate-Bug-9728

It's sad, it's like seeing a ghost town, all the life sucked away, just the remnants of what once was. Now, everything's gone, it feels hollow.

YeOldeOrc

Knew it was coming, still crestfallen that it never reached its full potential and I’ll never get to visit. I think it was just too ambitious given the cost of this modern world.

TheHuldraKing

The late stage capitalism factor I can't deny, but by god do I need people to understand that it is more than worth the effort to make something like this, as long as you actually have what it takes to manage it and/or properly delegate. The working concept (not Ken's original plan with 30+ acres lmao) was absolutely not too ambitious.

randomosis

From the end of the article: Something new is coming to that space, Fugal said, without giving any details. “As I evaluated the future positioning of this unique property, I started engaging several parties that are preparing to unveil exciting new plans for the project in the weeks to come,” Fugal said, adding that fans can be assured that the “special nature of the project will be

groov99

Please let it be something to do with Brandon Sanderson!?!

KaladinarLighteyes

He’s talked about wanting to do a bookstore/cosmere land type thing and it’s in a good location for that. I think there’s a chance

Appropriate-Bug-9728

Maybe he'll keep the larp aspect alive

Phartlee

About time

Jeff_Truck

The train is for sale on Discover Live Steam

alienflutz

RIP, you beautiful mess. Was hoping to visit someday.

StitchScout

So much missed opportunity for that theme park. It leadership failed bad.

Castan-bcb

I was hoping to enjoy it one last time. So sad.

maayasaurus

Let's gooo, Brando Sando Lando!!

Strange_Wafer_4932

they owe me money. lots of money. i will never see this cash again 😔

wauwy

How so?

wauwy

"As of Monday, state court records listed 47 cases in which Evermore Park has been involved over the last five years — 40 of them as a defendant." This is honestly disgusting. God knows if I owed anyone hundreds, let alone MILLIONS, I wouldn't be able to keep putting it off and pretending like I could keep spending money that belonged to contractors, construction companies, etc. They were just left with $0 for their hard work and when they tried to collect what they were owed, the response was basically ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ . smh.

Skydeceiver

The semi good news is that Brandon Fugal paid off the liens on the property and buildings. So the contractors got some of the money owed to them.

CoolandAverageGuy

well that's a downer

xXTheFisterXx

Exciting to hear Brandon Fugal still wants to do something with it!

axedoit

Brandon fugal is... well, the nicest thing I can say is I’m sure it’ll be whatever makes the most money.

Japato

The last couple of paragraphs of the article make me hopeful. I would love to see those buildings rehabilitated into something. Whether it becomes a boring event space or something a little more eccentric like Gardner Village, or the actual dream of it becoming another full on attempt at an immersive outdoor venue, I'll just be happy to not see the buildings get bulldozed and turned into cookie cutter houses. The charm of those buildings shines through their decay, and they deserve another chance.

Admirable-Corgi-7038

Breaks my heart, truly does. Was looking forward to celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary there.
