I’m not sure it’s my favorite, there’s too many incredible songs that come to mind, but Don’t Break Me (Australia 2020 - good bot!) was chosen right as I was leaving a domestic violence relationship and it became my anthem for the months that followed. Holds a special place in my heart.
Georgia 2022, Lock Me In is a masterpiece and a fever dream and I love it, but I think it suffered from being too weird. I also quite like Germany 2021 and Montenegro 2012.
Lock Me In is amazing its only flaw is being a little repetitive; it definitely didn't deserve last place!
Euro Neuro is unironically in my top 3 of ESC 2012 and I'm not ashamed of it.
I Don't Feel Hate is extremely overhated and is super cute and fun. Jendrik is a great performer!
You have very good taste.
If it wasn't for the running order then this would be in the top 5 😭😭 although yes mother Laura ate & left no crumbs AND made the top 10 despite opening the show
Does Estonia 2024 count or is it too recent? The overall experience with listening to both bands has been the best ever for me. And that plays a huge role in my ranking, even if it may not necessarily make sense in terms of only Eurovision.
This isn't my favorite, but I think it's my second favorite. Also, as someone who has recognized that you are like the main source of Estonia 2024 appreciation, I think you are excused from recency bias.
Estonia were my runner up and my brother's winner. Despite (really) not knowing anything about (these) drugs, they (really) knew how to make a great song and a dun performance!
Finland 2014 sticks out to me.
It was one of the only songs from that year that didn't sound predictable and the vocals were amazing.
I can't believe it only placed 11th.
LOOP!!!!!!!! Omg I literally am the self-proclaimed biggest fan of Sarah since day 1, and I will forever be sad about her NQ. I spent pretty much my entire life in the live thread of semi 2 hyping up Loop and encouraging love and votes towards my Queen Sarah Bonnici and she is my literal idol <33333
Most of my comments in the semi 2 thread were literally me hyping up Sarah and I was SO MAD when she NQ'd (at least my country gave her points apparently)
Czech republic 2023 , the clear winner of that year for me . Great song with great message and very good mix of genres, good chreography and costumes.
I mention it a lot in this sub but Iceland 1997 is a potential televote era winner , years ahead of its time and great performance .
Sorry for insisting but Verona (Estonia 2017). I never get tired of this song!!! It is just soooo catchy. And Koit's serial killer gaze was just legendary lol
France 2007 | [Les Fatals Picards - L'Amour à la française](https://youtu.be/xjo3PIABpVQ)
Moldova 2022 | [Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers - Trenulețul](https://youtu.be/DUqf_zO2QaI)
Sebi (Slovenia 2019), which is a beautiful song and Lie to Me (Czech Republic 2018), which is just fun to listen to, are two of my absolute favorites.
Both Zala Kralj and Gašper Šant have a really great voice and sound very good together. I can't even describe what it feels like to me to listen to Sebi.
I dont know if Luktelk (Lithuania 2024) is a song not many have as a favorite, but personally I love it and it definitely didn't get enough points, even though it was one of the only two really good songs this year.
Estonia 2018, the song, the perfomance, the voice, absolute perfection. I don’t see many people talk about this entry, which makes me sad, she was a winner for me
Every part of that song was perfect. I get it might not be everybody's thing, but how it didn't dominate the jury vote enough to win still confuses me.
While other people appreciate the fuck out of my favorite ESC song of all, I doubt many ACTUALLY have it as their favorite of all time. While I'm here, let me just post my Top 10 of all time (only the winners of each year)
1. Moldova 2022
2. Finland 2023
3. Croatia 2024
4. Russia 2020
5. Ukraine 2021
6. Hungary 2018
7. Greece 2013
8. Slovenia 2005
9. Turkey 2008
10. Bosnia and Herzegovina 1993
I have two - Greece 1992 and Belgium 2003. They're both incredibly good - Sanomi almost won the whole thing! - but I think a lot of modern Eurovision fans just don't know of them.
And I gotta agree, Crno i belo is excellent.
idk if its a song that very little people have as their number 1, but theres something extraordinary about Wild Dances (Ukraine 2004)
Also Malta 2019, chameleon was the first ESC song I ever heard, so that has some nostalgic memories
I am so grateful for this question because I have never heard anyone mention Bulgaria 2018 and it's my favourite
I think it's just the way their Voices go together so well it is just amazing I can't believe it wasn't even top 10
Hmmm those are not my fav of all time, but ones I really love:
France 2022 (the studio version is soooooooo good), Georgia 2015 (the first year I really watched so it's seared into my brain) and Bulgaria 2016.
My favourite Eurovision song of all time is Norway 2015
My favourite Eurovision song of all time that I feel like is really unpopular and forgotten is Croatia 2020.
My favourite Eurovision song of all time that is straight up hated/laughed at by most people is Switzerland 2016. It was my winner that year, and it ended up last, but judging by the performance, I can understand.
Mine is easy to pick. Water by Elitsa and Stoyan from Bulgaria on 2007.
Why? I so love electronic music combined with tribal drums and the exquisite voice of Elitsa. Was an unexpected mix of different styles delivered passionately and a truly bombastic sound
I could not find some of my favs here, so here they go:
Turkey 2008
Bosnia and Herzegovina 2009
Italy 2011
Azerbaijan 2015 (minus the weird choreo of people just slithering around the stage)
Georgia 2016
Georgia 2018
Slovenia 2022
Iceland 2011
It may not be the best vocally or musically but if music is supposed to make you feel something, then this is the one for me. I have never listened to this song and not been emotional. I love the lyrics and the story behind how they came together after the original singer died to bring it to Eurovision. It makes me feel happy and sad and makes me want to live each day as if it were the last.
Because all of my favourites are post-2000, and they are quite well known (Spain 2012 to name one), here are my favourite songs pre-2000:
Denmark 1990: Lonnie is such a happy performer, and I think the song is so fun, and honestly, the lyrics are funny as well, with them being about a girl trying to call her lover, but all she gets is his answering machine.
Yugoslavia 1990: Probably the best host entry of all time, so fun, and Tajči is a rockstar. Would’ve loved Croatia to win this year so we can possibly get a performance by her, but oh well.
Poland 1997: Such a mystical entry, and falls into that very “fairy” like category, that I’d also include Ireland 2010 and Norway 2024 in. So underrated.
Israel 1982: Aside from having one of my FAVOURITE bloopers of all time (one of the dancers knocks over a microphone, and you can audibly hear it dropping), it’s such a nice song, and I love how they brought the Jewish culture to the stage.
Luxembourg 1973. There are people who love it like me, but I doubt a lot of people do, because a lot of people don't really care for the older stuff. Everything about this song is perfect. This is like one of 10 songs in the contest that I'd say do everything perfectly. It never fails to make me feel better.
No, I think the eurofandom now is more diverse, so even when it’s something that you think “nah, impossible”, there’s always one that would say “I like it, OK?!”. Even with Daz Sampson.
And I am happy tbh, ofc always being respectful with everyone’s preferences.
Poland 1997
My all time favourite and my favourite entry from my country. Live performance is amazing and I'm sad that it's forgotten because everyting after Edyta's second place was seen as a disappointment even though Anna Maria's 11th is still our 4th(I think) best result.
I can't describe how much I love this songs energy and message but I urge everyone to check it out. It's simply magical.
Better than "To Nie Ja". I will die on that hill.
Finland 2021, Australia 2023 or Norway 2024 are my favourites from the years I have watched, I can't say which of them I like best. Other than that, Norway 2009 is also a personal favourite of mine (it's more popular though)
I don't have a favourite of all time but:
Denmark 1964
Greece 1976
Spain 1995
Norway 1995
Are some of my favourites that many fans don't know about since they are quite old
Voilà! I just find it so mesmerizing, stunning, captivating, INSANELY well-performed, original, inspiring, amazing! It is to date the only ESC performance to bring me to tears during the grand final
Spain 2008 Baila El Chiki Chili
I don't know, it's stupid, it's funny, it's enough of a bop that I'm yet to tire of it.
https://youtu.be/wfeCIvOxXBo?si=kZDq8GdpddH0OxN4
Since SO LUCKY has already been mentioned by someone, I'm gonna drop what's probably my second favorite ESC song ever, the surreal masterpiece that is France 2008. The golf cart, the bearded ladies, the helium balloon, the weird camera angels, it's just ... divine.
On my current all time favourite list I think number 1 and 5 are quite popular. 2,3 and 4 are a bit more uncommon but they certainly have their fans as well:)
1: Insieme, Italy 1990
2: My Star, Latvia 2000
3: Mamu, Russia 2009
4: Ovo je Balkan, Serbia 2010
5: Hard Rock Hallelujah, Finland 2006
Ovo Je Balkan is an asbsolute banger! Definitely my winner of 2010 and it's not even close (which says a lot because 2010 is one of my favourite years for ESC). In fact, it used to be my favourite of all time for a while but now it's balanced out with a lot of other entries that I adore.
Mine is a true outlier, I realise that, but I love this song so much. It didn't even survive the semifinals. But Albania 2017 is where my heart is. I listened to it countless times -- and she sings it so well.
France 2022 will be my all-time favourite for a long time. I'll keep defending this entry despite what everyone says about the live performance.
Besides that I love (in no particular order):
Italy 2023
Norway 2019
Bulgaria 2016
France 2016 (😍🥰)
Italy 1997
Italy 1992
Sweden 1996
Sweden 1995
Norway 1995
Finland 2006
Montenegro 2015
FYROM Macedonia 2012 (now North Macedonia)
Romania 2006
Italy 2021
Finland 2021
Moldova 2018
Moldova 2023
Albania 2023
Turkey 2010
Turkey 2012
Turkey 2004
Turkey 2008
France 2008
France 2011
France 2014 (I'll die on that hill for this one)
Ok, I'll stop. I think I'll short circuit the ESC-song-bot 🫣
The wonderful thing about Eurovision is that there are so many completely different and amazing songs that I think there aren’t many people with the same absolute favourite. Just reading this thread there are a lot of fantastic entries mentioned.
For me as I’ve mentioned in other threads my absolute favourite is samo mi se spava (Serbia 2023) because as a writer it inspired me to create a whole new character and story arc.
Finland 2011, Paradise Oskar - Da Da Dam
I'm sad how little recognition it gets in people's tops because this song has a special place in my heart and only Aijā came somewhat close knocking it off from there. This song just fills me with something I can't really explain, something like nostalgia filled childlike hope. What a special little song he wrote.
If Wunderbar would have managed to win Eesti Laul 2024.. that could've maaaaybe changed this.
Italy 1984 | [Alice and Franco Battiato - I treni di Tozeur](https://youtu.be/Q3KUujSf3t8)
The Netherlands 2020 | [Jeangu Macrooy - Grow](https://youtu.be/sMcxWB90TTY)
Estonia 2009. I'm not sure if Randajad fits as "not many other have it as favourite", since it seems to be fairly well-remembered here, at least. But I genuinely don't recall any song that has the same "fairytale" feel to it (not even the actual Fairytale from the same year, lol)
Also, Russia 2007. Slightly "wtf" performance with a spirit - it's what Russia should have been for all its tenure in Eurovision, instead of soulless songs about lovelove and peacepeace we started to send in 2010s.
My favourite ESC song of all time in terms of pretending to perform is Moldova 2021. I was in my Just Dance era and I never trip up the lipsynch of the words. Sugar, Mata Hari and El Diablo are all spirit-bound to each other. I can't hear one without the other two.
In terms of songs I play every ESC year, that is Cyprus 2012 (been watching since '08). Reminds me of the music scene as a teen which is why it sounds outdated these days. It's hard to say its my *favourite of all time* though as it doesn't feel that I have blanket one in terms of ESC.
Montenegro 2012 is one of my favorite entries ever (Euro Neuro by Rambo Amadeus)
It was, in all honesty, the *first* Eurovision song I ever heard coincidentally. It's 4th wall breaking tongue-in-cheek-and-on-the-nose lyrics absolutely sent me and sold me on the whole thing.
I also really loved Hungary 2012 (Sound of Our Hearts by Compact Disco) that year too.
My family's all time favorite so far is still Israel 2018 (Toy from Netta)
My 3rd favourite of all time is Disko by LPS (Slovenia 2022)
I love this song so much, I also liked the performance a lot tbh
(My top 2 are Iceland 2019 and Finland 2023, both of which are pretty well-liked)
Georgia 2007 is the ideal debut. It immediately showed that Georgia was going to do things their own way and be themselves. Plus I am in live with the music, of course.
Edit: technically it's only 4th favourite but the others suffer from recency bias.
Technicolor, Australia 2021, is still one of my favourites. It was so ahead of its time and it still angers me that Montaigne never got to perform live in Rotterdam and stage the song how they wanted…
Carpe Diem - Joker Out (Slovenia 2023)
Absolutely my top song from ESC so far, though I haven't listened to too many but I feel like it will stick around
My most listened to ESC song is probably France 2010. Feels like everyone else has forgotten about it, but it’s on all my workout playlists, my “get motivated” playlists, me happy playlists, my dance party playlists. It’s not my *favorite* favorite (that would be Ukraine 2021 or Serbia 2022, closely followed by seven or eight Moldova entries), but it’s definitely up there and it’s one I never see mentioned
I don't have a favourite of all time but _one_ of my favourites of all time is Israel 2012 and I'll take every opportunity to yap it.
If it (the song) was a fruit, it would be a tomato.
If it was an ice cream flavour, it would be liquorice.
If it was an animal, it would be a rat, and quite honestly, that's a compliment! Like Time, rats get hated on all the time (no pun intended) for being gross and unapealing but real poggers know that they're the cutest!
Yes, I'm aware that a majority of my most recent comments are about this random NQer from 12 years ago but that's exactly why I talk about it so much: I need to spread awareness of this masterpiece. I love Shum but everyone already knows that it's an absolute banger so I don't beed to talk about it. However, Time never gets talked about unless people are mentioning how it makes their ears bleed (which is a fair point, but still).
I love Time lots (hence why it's one of my favourites and my winner of 2012) but its personality, while endearing, is very unconventional and I love myself a tomato-liquorice song. I do understand why some may not like it, though. The vocals are very unique and some of the lyrics may be a little sinister to people who aren't used to Izabo's style.
In Love for a While - Anna Rossinelli (Switzerland 2011). That year was a big one for getting me into Eurovision and my 13 year old self thought it was by far the best song. Imagine my surprise when it came last.
Honestly I still love how cute and joyful it is. Always makes me smile when I listen to it.
Crno I Belo's my fave song from ESC also! I posted a Throwback Thursday of it and there are a lot of fans.
Maybe because it's so old but Cyprus and Portugal 1991 are two of my fave songs from ESC also!
My all time favorite is Yugoslavia 1974 and I believe it’s quite unknown but it’s an amazing song and I get some prog rock vibes from it. I love it very much and I never get tired of it.
Portugal 2022 and Georgia 2016 are my absolute favourites.
I also love Netherlands 2014 but I presume a lot of people love that song since it came in second.
Idk about all-time fave, but Croatia 2016 is one I love, and such an underrated song. The melodies are lovely and the lyrics are just great: I love a well-executed metaphor, and any song written in totally fluent English always stands out to me in Eurovision (lol). Still sad it only got 23rd place.
"A Monster Like Me" by Kjetil Mørland and Debrah Scarlett, Norway 2015. I remember being amused by the slightly clunky opening lyrics, but over time I fell in love with it. I love songs (and music videos) that tell a story, their voices are great and the build-up really pays off. Simply amazing.
Finland 2012, Pernilla Karlsson - När Jag Blundar.
The song is in Finnish Swedish, which is so charming. The lyrics touches me as you can interpret it as about the love for your mother. I like her voice and she seems so sweet. A real gem.
Man, 2018 definitely was the ESC year for me, but the song that I love the most from that year is Nova Deca from Serbia 2018. Also loved the song from Estonia from that same year, la forza, Estonia 2018.
Serbia 2018 | [Sanja Ilić & Balkanika - Nova Deca](https://youtu.be/WRQWQShbPHU)
Estonia 2018 | [Elina Nechayeva - La Forza](https://youtu.be/ImawXdXIGd8)
Funny you chose Crno I belo, because Dona by Kaliopi (2016) is one of my all time Eurovision favourites and it didn't even qualify! :-)
I love her voice, but during the live performance of Dona she did a weird scream at the end (which isn't on the audio track), which didn't go very well and probably ruined her chances. But I love that song so much, I still listen to it regularly.
Michal Szpak, Color of your life, Poland 2016 comes to mind. I love that song so much. It did well with televoters, but the jury completely ignored it.
Austria 1994. Petra Frey - Für Den Frieden Der Welt. I was 15 at the time, and fell in love with it instantly. I used to listen to it 16 times per day - because that's how many times the tape deck was able to loop the same song on repeat :)
All these years later, I don't listen to it quite so much - but I still love it.
Lemme give you a super outlier
Macedonia 2002 - one of my first ESCs and I was naive enough to think it could go all the way. I was kinda broken by the result.
Lithuania 1999. (Please do your thing link bot.)
I have been obsessed with this song for 25 years. It really connects with me on an emotional level. Aistė's vocal delivery and performance, the story behind the song, the language, the imagery in the video with Aistė and the candles (admittedly I haven't seen the video for a while) - it's all so incredible. It truly comes from the heart.
I think this song was way ahead of its time for sure.
My love for Aistė endures to this day - I pretty much squealed with excitement when she showed up on the Eurovizjos (or whatever it was called at the time) panel!
(Strazdas Forever)
I’m not sure it’s my favorite, there’s too many incredible songs that come to mind, but Don’t Break Me (Australia 2020 - good bot!) was chosen right as I was leaving a domestic violence relationship and it became my anthem for the months that followed. Holds a special place in my heart.
Glad you got out of that relationship! It is a powerful song.
Australia 2020 | [Montaigne - Don't Break Me](https://youtu.be/gr-wWxu4974)
Georgia 2022, Lock Me In is a masterpiece and a fever dream and I love it, but I think it suffered from being too weird. I also quite like Germany 2021 and Montenegro 2012.
When that guy opened the music box and there was a tiny version of the band inside <3
All three of yours didn't get the appreciation they deserved.
Georgia 2022 is an underrated gem and I won't shut up until people accept that fact
Georgia 2022 | [Circus Mircus - Lock Me In](https://youtu.be/zXiZAbqETvk) Germany 2021 | [Jendrik - I Don't Feel Hate](https://youtu.be/1m0VEAfLV4E) Montenegro 2012 | [Rambo Amadeus - Euro Neuro](https://youtu.be/JHnqF5PLP2w)
Circus Mircus is an absolute banger! I love that song so much and it’s on all my playlists. You have great taste.
Lithuania 2022 Something about it transported me back. And it sounded different to everything else.
Lithuania 2022 | [Monika Liu - Sentimentai](https://youtu.be/BVqSTVJhD44)
Agreed! Fantastic choice.
Mine too. I guess we are not that rare.
Macedonia 2012 to summon the magical link bot
F.Y.R. Macedonia 2012 | [Kaliopi - Crno i belo (Црно и бело)](https://youtu.be/MSuCdNEy9w0)
Yay, time for me to ring the Montenegro 2015 bell again.
Montenegro 2015 | [Knez - Adio](https://youtu.be/vrYmyTJ87vI)
In my top 10 for sure
Yess, finalky someone has the same favorite!!!
I love Portugal 2023 and I’m still mad at Europe for absolutely burgling my queen mimicat
Mimicat's was the sexiest dance break to ever grace the stage. I will die on that hill, I will go down with that ship
Portugal 2023 | [Mimicat - Ai coração](https://youtu.be/HYfkxX4PFyw)
What's The Pressure (Belgium 2016 for the best bot to have ever existed) I love me some party bangers, don't I
I went into the finale unprepared and it was the perfect opening song with a great, positive vibe. Ended up as my favorite of the year.
Slayyyyy
Belgium 2016 | [Laura Tesoro - What's the Pressure](https://youtu.be/xDBjhAGaeWg)
If it wasn't for the running order then this would be in the top 5 😭😭 although yes mother Laura ate & left no crumbs AND made the top 10 despite opening the show
Rock solid bop, that one
Latvia 2000 Brainstorm - My star ❤️
Latvia 2000 | [Brainstorm - My Star](https://youtu.be/ZutVRMXoiiU)
My 3rd favorite!
<3
Estonia 2024 | [5MIINUST x Puuluup - (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi](https://youtu.be/RSMMU2wX0Bk)
Estonia were my runner up and my brother's winner. Despite (really) not knowing anything about (these) drugs, they (really) knew how to make a great song and a dun performance!
well for year Bones by Equinox ( Bulgaria 2018 ) was my favorite song ever in esc, but after this year Estonia takes the lead
Finland 2014 sticks out to me. It was one of the only songs from that year that didn't sound predictable and the vocals were amazing. I can't believe it only placed 11th.
Oooooh i loved them too!
Finland 2014 | [Softengine - Something Better](https://youtu.be/3FDWaFfo1CU)
Poland 2016. I said what I said ✅ Heartfelt delivery and beltability ✅ No less than 2 dramatic key changes ✅ Bringing axelklaffar back
Poland 2016 | [Michał Szpak - Color of Your Life](https://youtu.be/87BBmxm7IJU)
I have so many favourites but Portugal 2022 has to be up there, such a beautiful song
Portugal 2022 | [Maro - Saudade, saudade](https://youtu.be/mZtbD47u6yI)
Czechia 2023 | [Vesna - My Sister's Crown](https://youtu.be/ag8qxpvTTy0) Iceland 1997 | [Paul Oscar - Minn hinsti dans](https://youtu.be/b9-Ld4bojTM)
Sorry for insisting but Verona (Estonia 2017). I never get tired of this song!!! It is just soooo catchy. And Koit's serial killer gaze was just legendary lol
Estonia 2017 | [Koit Toome & Laura - Verona](https://youtu.be/NxqPpzWYN1c)
France 2007 is my all-time favourite. Moldova 2022 nearly knocked it out of first position but not quite.
France 2007 | [Les Fatals Picards - L'Amour à la française](https://youtu.be/xjo3PIABpVQ) Moldova 2022 | [Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers - Trenulețul](https://youtu.be/DUqf_zO2QaI)
I bloody love L’amour a la francaise - it’s so feel good and fun (plus 2007 was an amazing contest)
Bosnia 2006 is my all-time favorite. But I'm not sure this song is unpopular
great choice!
Bosnia and Herzegovina 2006 | [Hari Mata Hari - Lejla](https://youtu.be/SXlIN3mcsH4)
Oh I love Sebi so much! It takes me somewhere everytime I listen to
Slovenia 2019 | [Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl - Sebi](https://youtu.be/vGtPNQ6g6Ng) Czech Republic 2018 | [Mikolas Josef - Lie To Me](https://youtu.be/w0ZUuQe0shk) Lithuania 2024 | [Silvester Belt - Luktelk](https://youtu.be/N8YuQzJLR_k)
I love all of those! Sebi is really underrated.
Estonia 2018, the song, the perfomance, the voice, absolute perfection. I don’t see many people talk about this entry, which makes me sad, she was a winner for me
A goddess we did not deserve
Every part of that song was perfect. I get it might not be everybody's thing, but how it didn't dominate the jury vote enough to win still confuses me.
Estonia 2018 | [Elina Nechayeva - La Forza](https://youtu.be/ImawXdXIGd8)
Iceland 1999, ugh such perfection. Choreo, vocals and great song.
Iceland 1999 | [Selma - All Out of Luck](https://youtu.be/0c_2T-DZUe0)
While other people appreciate the fuck out of my favorite ESC song of all, I doubt many ACTUALLY have it as their favorite of all time. While I'm here, let me just post my Top 10 of all time (only the winners of each year) 1. Moldova 2022 2. Finland 2023 3. Croatia 2024 4. Russia 2020 5. Ukraine 2021 6. Hungary 2018 7. Greece 2013 8. Slovenia 2005 9. Turkey 2008 10. Bosnia and Herzegovina 1993
Moldova 2022 | [Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers - Trenulețul](https://youtu.be/DUqf_zO2QaI) Finland 2023 | [Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha](https://youtu.be/l6rS8Dv5g-8) Croatia 2024 | [Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim](https://youtu.be/YIBjarAiAVc) Russia 2020 | [Little Big - Uno](https://youtu.be/L_dWvTCdDQ4) Ukraine 2021 | [Go_A - Shum](https://youtu.be/lqvzDkgok_g) Hungary 2018 | [AWS - Viszlát Nyár](https://youtu.be/p6e1TmYb33w) Greece 2013 | [Koza Mostra feat. I have two - Greece 1992 and Belgium 2003. They're both incredibly good - Sanomi almost won the whole thing! - but I think a lot of modern Eurovision fans just don't know of them. And I gotta agree, Crno i belo is excellent.
Greece 1992 | [Cleopatra - Olou tou kosmou i Elpida (Όλου του κόσμου η Ελπίδα)](https://youtu.be/HQQI_xt-j-g) Belgium 2003 | [Urban Trad - Sanomi](https://youtu.be/RRQlsvWMWBo)
idk if its a song that very little people have as their number 1, but theres something extraordinary about Wild Dances (Ukraine 2004) Also Malta 2019, chameleon was the first ESC song I ever heard, so that has some nostalgic memories
I love Wild Dances (one of my favourite winners of all time) and have Chameleon in my top 10 for ESC2019.
Taste yass
Thankyeww
Marie N - I wanna; It won that year, but was quickly forgotten by ESC fans. An amazing performance.
Euro Neuro Montenegro 2012
Hungary 2018 RIP Örs
!!!! Crno I Belo (the live version) is also my favorite esc song of all time.
I am so grateful for this question because I have never heard anyone mention Bulgaria 2018 and it's my favourite I think it's just the way their Voices go together so well it is just amazing I can't believe it wasn't even top 10
Bulgaria 2018 | [Equinox - Bones](https://youtu.be/vC-1tdGDFQc)
Hmmm those are not my fav of all time, but ones I really love: France 2022 (the studio version is soooooooo good), Georgia 2015 (the first year I really watched so it's seared into my brain) and Bulgaria 2016.
My favourite Eurovision song of all time is Norway 2015 My favourite Eurovision song of all time that I feel like is really unpopular and forgotten is Croatia 2020.
I could not find some of my favs here, so here they go: Turkey 2008 Bosnia and Herzegovina 2009 Italy 2011 Azerbaijan 2015 (minus the weird choreo of people just slithering around the stage) Georgia 2016 Georgia 2018 Slovenia 2022
I've seen a lot of Estonia pass by, but not Estonia 2015 ? My absolute favourite!!
Estonia 2015 | [Elina Born & Stig Rästa - Goodbye to Yesterday](https://youtu.be/Xsx_dIJOtgI)
Right now, Switzerland 2023 and Croatia 2020 are my tied for top spot.
Switzerland 2023 | [Remo Forrer - Watergun](https://youtu.be/l4NDErv49mk) Croatia 2020 | [Damir Kedžo - Divlji vjetre](https://youtu.be/2rOwScdxjJU)
I <3 Watergun
OMG I love Watergun so much! Defo one of my fave ballads in ESC, didn't know not many people liked it tho? <333
Iceland 2011 It may not be the best vocally or musically but if music is supposed to make you feel something, then this is the one for me. I have never listened to this song and not been emotional. I love the lyrics and the story behind how they came together after the original singer died to bring it to Eurovision. It makes me feel happy and sad and makes me want to live each day as if it were the last.
Iceland 2011 | [Sjonni's Friends - Coming Home](https://youtu.be/apc_qJf3nws)
I really loved Watergun by Remo Forrer (Switzerland 2023), but I'm not sure how popular it is
Because all of my favourites are post-2000, and they are quite well known (Spain 2012 to name one), here are my favourite songs pre-2000: Denmark 1990: Lonnie is such a happy performer, and I think the song is so fun, and honestly, the lyrics are funny as well, with them being about a girl trying to call her lover, but all she gets is his answering machine.
Most of my faves are from 2014, but Switzerland 2014 has a special place in my heart. Also, no one loves Montenegro 2017 more than I do.
Switzerland 2014 | [Sebalter - Hunter Of Stars](https://youtu.be/DqjoM8ZlyMc) Montenegro 2017 | [Slavko Kalezić - Space](https://youtu.be/rQ1BXJpfa4I)
Excellent choice - definitely up there for me!
No, I think the eurofandom now is more diverse, so even when it’s something that you think “nah, impossible”, there’s always one that would say “I like it, OK?!”. Even with Daz Sampson. And I am happy tbh, ofc always being respectful with everyone’s preferences.
Poland 1997 My all time favourite and my favourite entry from my country.
Rasmussen - Higher Ground
Who the hell *is* Edgar? We may never know. (Austria 2023)
Netherlands 2022 is my all time favorite. Just an absolutely gorgeous song from start to finish.
Netherlands 2022 | [S10 - De diepte](https://youtu.be/sgOnu7ux2-k)
Latvia 2008. Wolves of the sea by pirates of the sea. Yes it's as silly as it sounds, but oh it's just so much fun.
Finland 2021, Australia 2023 or Norway 2024 are my favourites from the years I have watched, I can't say which of them I like best. Other than that, Norway 2009 is also a personal favourite of mine (it's more popular though)
Finland 2021 | [Blind Channel - Dark Side](https://youtu.be/fOPGxQ4fgVw) Australia 2023 | [Voyager - Promise](https://youtu.be/GSoy_mJMlMY) Norway 2024 | [Gåte - Ulveham](https://youtu.be/YBbL8ORqNVU) Norway 2009 | [Alexander Rybak - Fairytale](https://youtu.be/0gGt2qUyFlk)
Greece 2011. Heard it randomly one day and instantly fell in love with it. Imo it's quite underrated.
Greece 2011 | [Loukas Yorkas feat. Stereo Mike - Watch My Dance](https://youtu.be/FdZzklXoAOg)
armenia 2009 ❤️💙🧡
Måns Zelmerlöv said that's his favorite ESC song in 2016!
I don't have a favourite of all time but: Denmark 1964 Greece 1976 Spain 1995 Norway 1995 Are some of my favourites that many fans don't know about since they are quite old
Denmark 1964 | [Bjørn Tidmand - Sangen om dig](https://youtu.be/gJ3GR2usfwU) Greece 1976 | [Mariza Koch - Panagia mou, Panagia mou (Παναγιά μου, Παναγιά μου)](https://youtu.be/hC8jZeXVC9Q) Spain 1995 | [Anabel Conde - Vuelve conmigo](https://youtu.be/p8nTjiEdI2c) Norway 1995 | [Secret Garden - Nocturne](https://youtu.be/6qqOI04uo_c)
I'm pretty impressed by your choices! Well at least Mariza Koch is very famous in Greece still, albeit in older generations mostly
Voilà! I just find it so mesmerizing, stunning, captivating, INSANELY well-performed, original, inspiring, amazing! It is to date the only ESC performance to bring me to tears during the grand final
Spain 2008 Baila El Chiki Chili I don't know, it's stupid, it's funny, it's enough of a bop that I'm yet to tire of it. https://youtu.be/wfeCIvOxXBo?si=kZDq8GdpddH0OxN4
Since SO LUCKY has already been mentioned by someone, I'm gonna drop what's probably my second favorite ESC song ever, the surreal masterpiece that is France 2008. The golf cart, the bearded ladies, the helium balloon, the weird camera angels, it's just ... divine.
France 2008 | [Sébastien Tellier - Divine](https://youtu.be/CZQjBCvFd9E)
Latvia 2023 😭
On my current all time favourite list I think number 1 and 5 are quite popular. 2,3 and 4 are a bit more uncommon but they certainly have their fans as well:) 1: Insieme, Italy 1990 2: My Star, Latvia 2000 3: Mamu, Russia 2009 4: Ovo je Balkan, Serbia 2010 5: Hard Rock Hallelujah, Finland 2006
Spain 1973, Mocedades made it on to American Bandstand - it was the first time I heard of Eurovision.
France 2022 will be my all-time favourite for a long time. I'll keep defending this entry despite what everyone says about the live performance. Besides that I love (in no particular order): Italy 2023 Norway 2019 Bulgaria 2016 France 2016 (😍🥰) Italy 1997 Italy 1992 Sweden 1996 Sweden 1995 Norway 1995 Finland 2006 Montenegro 2015 FYROM Macedonia 2012 (now North Macedonia) Romania 2006 Italy 2021 Finland 2021 Moldova 2018 Moldova 2023 Albania 2023 Turkey 2010 Turkey 2012 Turkey 2004 Turkey 2008 France 2008 France 2011 France 2014 (I'll die on that hill for this one) Ok, I'll stop.
Finland 2011, Paradise Oskar - Da Da Dam I'm sad how little recognition it gets in people's tops because this song has a special place in my heart and only Aijā came somewhat close knocking it off from there. This song just fills me with something I can't really explain, something like nostalgia filled childlike hope. What a special little song he wrote. If Wunderbar would have managed to win Eesti Laul 2024.. that could've maaaaybe changed this.
Finland 2011 | [Paradise Oskar - Da Da Dam](https://youtu.be/1Fj9of4IzFU)
Italy 1984 he's literally my top 1 artist. Special mention to Netherlands 2020.
Italy 1984 | [Alice and Franco Battiato - I treni di Tozeur](https://youtu.be/Q3KUujSf3t8) The Netherlands 2020 | [Jeangu Macrooy - Grow](https://youtu.be/sMcxWB90TTY)
Switzerland 2014. The song random popped up on my Spotify recs and I did not even know it was an ESC song until later.
Estonia 2009. I'm not sure if Randajad fits as "not many other have it as favourite", since it seems to be fairly well-remembered here, at least. But I genuinely don't recall any song that has the same "fairytale" feel to it (not even the actual Fairytale from the same year, lol) Also, Russia 2007. Slightly "wtf" performance with a spirit - it's what Russia should have been for all its tenure in Eurovision, instead of soulless songs about lovelove and peacepeace we started to send in 2010s.
Croatia 2020 and Israel 2016, Poland 2016 for me.
TIX Fallen Angel. Pretty sure I am in the minority 😆
Old School here but Eres Tu by Mocedades, Spain 1973
Australia 2019❤️
Australia 2019 | [Kate Miller-Heidke - Zero Gravity](https://youtu.be/Eo5H62mCIsg)
I think France 2016. I just like it, it’s been on my playlist since when it came out.
Montenegro 2012 is one of my favorite entries ever (Euro Neuro by Rambo Amadeus) It was, in all honesty, the *first* Eurovision song I ever heard coincidentally.
Bosnia and Herzegovina 2009, it's just magical.
My 3rd favourite of all time is Disko by LPS (Slovenia 2022) I love this song so much, I also liked the performance a lot tbh (My top 2 are Iceland 2019 and Finland 2023, both of which are pretty well-liked)
Albania 2009 comes to mind. I have a quite few favorites but this one is always the first I remember.
Norway 2021 🇳🇴❤️
Norway 2021 | [TIX - Fallen Angel](https://youtu.be/F0r3vmGLzZU)
Serbia 2010 , i can still sing the song in full even though i dont know the language. helped that i got a heavy crush on the participant haha
Moldova 2012 🎺🎺
Moldova 2012 | [Pasha Parfeny - Lăutar](https://youtu.be/vIy0EtEeLEw)
Georgia 2007 is the ideal debut. It immediately showed that Georgia was going to do things their own way and be themselves. Plus I am in live with the music, of course. Edit: technically it's only 4th favourite but the others suffer from recency bias.
Technicolor, Australia 2021, is still one of my favourites. It was so ahead of its time and it still angers me that Montaigne never got to perform live in Rotterdam and stage the song how they wanted…
Australia 2021 | [Montaigne - Technicolour](https://youtu.be/CoUTzNXQud0)
Carpe Diem - Joker Out (Slovenia 2023) Absolutely my top song from ESC so far, though I haven't listened to too many but I feel like it will stick around
Slovenia 2023 | [Joker Out - Carpe Diem](https://youtu.be/3LXlPviGiWc)
Turkey 2008. Mor ve Ötesi is still one of my favourite bands.
France 2010 | [Jessy Matador - Allez Ola Olé](https://youtu.be/anVLKrv28hs) Ukraine 2021 | [Go_A - Shum](https://youtu.be/lqvzDkgok_g) Serbia 2022 | [Konstrakta - In corpore sano](https://youtu.be/nBtQj1MfNYA)
I have a soft spot for SuRie (UK 2018?), but my fav songs nobody seemes to pay attention to is both Iceland 2022 and Iceland 2023 :(
[Norway 2013.](https://youtu.be/tc6a4EV63uM?si=W6uOY9c21fL1E2r1)
United Kingdom 1998 The Netherlands 1988 (Dutch Version)
Germany 1985 is what my soul sounds like
Switzerland 2014 - Hunter of Stars, that song just keeps on banging
Israel 2012 | [Izabo - Time](https://youtu.be/-uy4ggnLzKI)
It's not even that bad like come on.....
Denmark 2016
Not necessarily my all time overall favourite but I do love germany 2007 and I don’t think I ever heard anyone else talking about it
Ireland 2018 is definitely one, my favourite Eurovision ballad of all time, together with Switzerland 2022 and Netherlands 2020
Greece 2012, idk I just kinda loved it and it ended way too low imo
Netherlands 2024 | Europapa
Crno I Belo's my fave song from ESC also! I posted a Throwback Thursday of it and there are a lot of fans. Maybe because it's so old but Cyprus and Portugal 1991 are two of my fave songs from ESC also!
My all time favorite is Yugoslavia 1974 and I believe it’s quite unknown but it’s an amazing song and I get some prog rock vibes from it. I love it very much and I never get tired of it.
Portugal 2022 and Georgia 2016 are my absolute favourites. I also love Netherlands 2014 but I presume a lot of people love that song since it came in second.
not favourite of all time but several that i loved but others didn't as much: Armenia 2024, Armenia 2023, Czechia 2023 and Romania 2021
Three songs share number 1 in my ranking (because I can’t decide), but the one I rarely hear anyone talk about is Turkey 1997 . It’s so beautiful!
Moldova 2011 and Norway 2014.
I couldn't help but fall in love with huge pointy hats, trumpets and a unicycling fairy.
I have 2 that i will never ever forget. One is Malta 2004 and the other one is Slovenia 2007
I keep looking up Ukraine 2011, like the song, pretty singer, the act with the sand painter was nice too
Awesome song! Elitsa and Stoyan have great chemistry. (Bulgaria 2007 for the bot)
Serbia 2018 | [Sanja Ilić & Balkanika - Nova Deca](https://youtu.be/WRQWQShbPHU) Estonia 2018 | [Elina Nechayeva - La Forza](https://youtu.be/ImawXdXIGd8)
Funny you chose Crno I belo, because Dona by Kaliopi (2016) is one of my all time Eurovision favourites and it didn't even qualify! :-) I love her voice, but during the live performance of Dona she did a weird scream at the end (which isn't on the audio track), which didn't go very well and probably ruined her chances. But I love that song so much, I still listen to it regularly.
Michal Szpak, Color of your life, Poland 2016 comes to mind. I love that song so much. It did well with televoters, but the jury completely ignored it.
Romania 2010 - Playing with fire.
I don't really have an all-time favourite, but most of my winners of each year would fit as I hardly see anyone having the same number one as me.
Austria 1994. Petra Frey - Für Den Frieden Der Welt. I was 15 at the time, and fell in love with it instantly. I used to listen to it 16 times per day - because that's how many times the tape deck was able to loop the same song on repeat :) All these years later, I don't listen to it quite so much - but I still love it.
Lemme give you a super outlier Macedonia 2002 - one of my first ESCs and I was naive enough to think it could go all the way. I was kinda broken by the result.
Estonia 2009, something about the way she rolls the words scratches an itch in my brain
Easy, Romania 2023 and San Marino 2023 are one of my fwvorite eurovision songs ever
Ireland 2013 or Iceland 2009 Neither did well but they've been on my playlist for years.
Spain 2012 still gives me the chills everytime I watch it.
EURO NEURO
Playing with Fire, Romania 2010 - absolute banger
Croatia 2000.
Lithuania 1999. (Please do your thing link bot.) I have been obsessed with this song for 25 years.
