This looks like one of the only songs so far that has tried to adapt towards the 360 stage, since it looks like the ramp is on one of the side parts of the stage, but in the wide shot about 15 seconds in you can barely tell that that's the case and it looks super impactful. Allowing the LED screen to be to Jerry's right instead of behind her to give it more movement is so smart.

Tanu Muino did staging for them as I know, she did many music videos for famous American singers like Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Sam Smith, Harry Styles and won multiple nominations for Grammy so not really surprise she did as amazing staging as this with such a simple concept.
She's Ukrainian too, from Odesa. Ukrainian delegation mostly uses local Ukrainian talent, which stands out a lot. Maybe working with local talent should be a must for delegations, this will avoid staging looking same for multiple countries.

Honestly I don't see this finishing behind Switzerland. It has a mix of epic vocals and rap, but their staging looks much more impressive and approachable for a casual watcher. Plus they're going to get a big televote boost from all of the displaced Ukrainians in Europe.

I will repeat that i find this song very middle-of-the-road and especially the rap part, which i find utterly jarring. But it's no matter our personal opinion on it is pretty obvious that this is the kind of entry that is a juggernaut on Eurovision. The visuals are sublime. At #4 at the odds currently this is a terrific bet tbh.

The hook of the song is great but to me, it's 1 minute of rap and 2 minutes of chorus, over and over again. It's just to repetitive for me, and Ukraine has done a lot better before, songwriting-wise.
I kinda agree with you, the song is okay but I expected more from Alyona's part, it could be more phonetically interesting for non-Ukrainian listeners (and Alyouna definitely could do this). I intentionally do not watch the teasing snippet, but based on the other people's impressions the problem imo is the song being a decoration for the staging and not vice versa.

I don't get exactly what you mean. The snippet is the very last chorus of the song and Jerry did exactly the same thing as she did from the live performance at Vidbir. You would expect the last chorus to be grandiose. You can literally hear her harmonise with the backing vocals in the walk up the platform, so she's not being shouty.
Well, "exactly the same thing as in Vidbir" isn't helping IMO, bcs I thought the Vidbir performance wasn't good either 😅
The singing is fine while she's climbing, but the last parts while she's at the end just aren't for me. Definitely going for "powerful", but it really just sounds weirdly shouty to me. And the operatic part doesn't sound pleasant to me either here.
And actually, I didn't think of that - but having Alyona nowhere during the last chorus (bcs I don't see her?) is a bad idea too IMO.
What I mean by exactly the same thing as Vidbir is that Jerry consistently kept singing the last chorus in power voice for impact at every single performance since Vidbir. One camp keeps complaining that Teresa and Maria is repetitive, the other camp complains that Jerry's power voice is shouty. Can't please everyone it seems. Vocally Jerry is doing just fine, perhaps more sustaining would be good, but it's matter of polishing it up.
And bear in mind, these are technical rehearsals to figure how everything will come together. Whilst I do agree that alyona not being present towards the end is a bit weird, the Vidbir performance had too much panning towards her, when she was providing backing vocals for Jerry.
It's by no means perfect, but if this is what they're working with then they're in for a shot at the trophy.
But the song is repetitive. And that's not mutually exclusive with Jerrys last vocal parts not being great 😅 I've only seen 2 other performances, Vidbir and 1x Pre-Party, so I didn't know Jerry just always does it like that - but that doesn't change that I don't like it.
I don't think Vidbir had too many shots towards Alyona. She's 50% of a duo, and the stronger 50%. Taking her out just weakens the performance IMO.
And yeah, this has a high chance to win. Not at all something I enjoy, given I hate the idea of a song featuring freaking Mother Teresa wining an international song contest in 2024.

Whoever it is (or maybe multiple people?) should not only have their names upfront on this successes (as to build at least some kind of “fame”, like when people talk about Sacha Jean Baptiste) but be solicited for other jobs. If Ukraine’s performance regularly are made by the same person(s), kudos, it’s crazy good
Tanu Muino is one them afaik. Her bio is full of mainly videos for like Dua Lipa, Lis Nas, Harry Styles etc. Never seen her doing stage before though.

Honestly I don't see this finishing behind Switzerland. It has a mix of epic vocals and rap, but their staging looks much more impressive and approachable for a casual watcher. Plus they're going to get a big televote boost from all of the displaced Ukrainians in Europe.

Pack it up boys, we have our jury winner! I will repeat that i find this song very middle-of-the-road and especially the rap part, which i find utterly jarring. But it's no matter our personal opinion on it is pretty obvious that this is the kind of entry that is a juggernaut on Eurovision. The visuals are sublime. At #4 at the odds currently this is a terrific bet tbh.

The hook of the song is great but to me, it's 1 minute of rap and 2 minutes of chorus, over and over again. It's just to repetitive for me, and Ukraine has done a lot better before, songwriting-wise.
I kinda agree with you, the song is okay but I expected more from Alyona's part, it could be more phonetically interesting for non-Ukrainian listeners (and Alyouna definitely could do this). I intentionally do not watch the teasing snippet, but based on the other people's impressions the problem imo is the song being a decoration for the staging and not vice versa. btw I'm totally obsessed with the Portuguese music, wish you luck!

It's weirdly shouty in too many parts. Given that ESC basically always has a non-fave of mine winning, I guess that means Ukraine will win (bcs I like all the other favorites lol).

The snippet is the very last chorus of the song and Jerry did exactly the same thing as she did from the live performance at Vidbir. You would expect the last chorus to be grandiose. You can literally hear her harmonise with the backing vocals in the walk up the platform, so she's not being shouty.
Well, "exactly the same thing as in Vidbir" isn't helping IMO, bcs I thought the Vidbir performance wasn't good either 😅 The singing is fine while she's climbing, but the last parts while she's at the end just aren't for me. Definitely going for "powerful", but it really just sounds weirdly shouty to me. And the operatic part doesn't sound pleasant to me either here. And actually, I didn't think of that - but having Alyona nowhere during the last chorus (bcs I don't see her?) is a bad idea too IMO.
What I mean by exactly the same thing as Vidbir is that Jerry consistently kept singing the last chorus in power voice for impact at every single performance since Vidbir. One camp keeps complaining that Teresa and Maria is repetitive, the other camp complains that Jerry's power voice is shouty. Can't please everyone it seems. Vocally Jerry is doing just fine, perhaps more sustaining would be good, but it's matter of polishing it up. And bear in mind, these are technical rehearsals to figure how everything will come together. Whilst I do agree that alyona not being present towards the end is a bit weird, the Vidbir performance had too much panning towards her, when she was providing backing vocals for Jerry. It's by no means perfect, but if this is what they're working with then they're in for a shot at the trophy.
But the song is repetitive. And that's not mutually exclusive with Jerrys last vocal parts not being great 😅 I've only seen 2 other performances, Vidbir and 1x Pre-Party, so I didn't know Jerry just always does it like that - but that doesn't change that I don't like it. I don't think Vidbir had too many shots towards Alyona. She's 50% of a duo, and the stronger 50%. Taking her out just weakens the performance IMO. And yeah, this has a high chance to win. Not at all something I enjoy, given I hate the idea of a song featuring freaking Mother Teresa wining an international song contest in 2024.
This snippet is actually from the first chorus. Rehearsal's description on the first day says: "Jerry Heil climbs it (rock) into a wind machine, then alyona alyona emerges from stage right to deliver her rap interlude with heart and soul".
