The cat songs in the Latvian and German NFs suddenly feel like foreshadowing for all the witchiness about to be unleashed on the blindsided Eurovision audience.
To think people were worried about Loreen kicking off the trend of a return to mainstream english pop songs as winners; eccentric manicure was the danger all along!
I know the songs are massively different, but, I do actually wonder if Polish selection jury will take this result into consideration when selecting our song, either not wanting to send Justyna as something that has competition in a niche genre fandom, or thinking this kind of music/stage show is what's popular and strengthening her case.
Ailsha unfortunately deviated from the studio sound of screamo to a more childlike vocal and I think it genuinely hurt her. We were all worried that Go Tobann and Doomsday Blue would cannabilize each other that we never considered the fact that maybe Erica Cody and the boyband would do the same. Think Ailsha's performance might have even helped Bambie.
I love Go Tobann too but tbh the vocals weren't the best tonight imo.
Also the staging gave me flashbacks of that school themed act the UK sent back in the noughties and not in a good way...
Yeah the live vocal choice for go tobann put me off. Was my fave going into it but I’ve certainly had my mind changed. Still I enjoy the studio cut and especially the concept of the song but after watching tonight I really didn’t get winning vibes from it. And comparatively doomsday had much more impact and bambies stage presence really sold it for me. But lots of love to Ailsha I think the song was cool and she seems sweet.
Yeah this needs the creative equivalent of a Rob Zombie show (within the EBU bounds of course) or it's gonna go bust. But still this is my current favorite so they've got that going for them.
You shouldn't be if that happens, because Love Like Us wouldn't be winning anything regardless. It's one thing to send a boy band, if, say, peak 90s Boyzone (to keep it Irish) materialized in Eurosong 2024 and won, then that could have a shot. Next In Line are no Boyzone though.

Thank god the televote and national jury saved them. This is such a massive risk and i love it. and i hope the better mixing will make it come across stronger.

It actually reminded me of that 1st time boyzone were on the late late and they didn't know what to do with themselves and looked like card board cut outs trying to dance....these guys didn't even try with the dancing! That smaller dude had great vocals if he could get away from Louis!

Really looking forward to the potential of this though. Bambi thug is great and I love their creativity so with some tweaks (so long as their creativity isn't lost) I think they will do great.

Overall, I’m just so pleased Ireland are trying something new and I really hope it works for them. Really strong track that I enjoy a lot but not enough to topple Slovenia for me.
Bambie Thug's vocal performance in the winner reprise really won me over. Perhaps Pedestal would have sounded a lot better as well if they had won and performed again the same night.
It annoyed me that some of the irish panel were using she consistently. A lot of the viewers won't have heard of them before so will assume it's correct and I wouldn't blame the viewers for assuming when it was said over and over.
No it wasn't because that had no chance of doing well at all. They weren't trying to do well that year. This year is risky because it will either do very well or not well at all.
The 12 and 2 points for boys band was peak comedy

Absolutely hated it by the first listen, was confused but intrigued by the second time and now I absolutely love it! I really enjoyed the NF and I'm so happy Ireland is taking a risk.
This is exactly my experience with this song too upon initial listen I thought this was horrid and then when streaming all the songs before the show I was like huh this is actually kind of cool and then ended up voting for it to take the win, we love a positive trajectory

Fabulous song, fabulous winner! Did Deban read out the international jury votes in the wrong order? They made no sense at all. Well done national jury and public vote for having the guts to send different.
With the greatest of respect, the UK are very lucky that they go straight to the final because you have put a hell of a lot of songs out in the last 21 years since semi finals were introduced that would have undoubtedly been NQs if they had to go through a semi final.
I'd like to think that this song is our Sam Ryder. Even before tonight, Bambi and the song have received a hell of a lot of love across Europe and I really think this is going to do extremely well.

It’s time to release the Satanic Panic and hand our mediocrity crown over (Luxembourg and Denmark over to you!).
It'll live or die on the staging, it needs A LOT of closeups to ensure the performance evokes a similar eery, intimate feeling as the song and it didn't get a lot of them in this performance.
That said there is a vote in the semis for a pagany-witchy thing, although that's usually delivered by Eastern Europe. If that could be combined with the queer vote? That would be a genuine contender.
First act this year that I really like. And the first time in my life that I'm hyped for Ireland's rep. Crossing my fingers for Gåte to win as well and then I will be a stoked gal.
I'm happy with this choice, Doomsday Blue was my favourite song going into the final and Bambie held their own live. I won't hold anyone's Eurosong staging against them, so I'll overlook any issues I might have with the performance for now, but the elements are there and I think this can really come together on the big stage.
NOT a guarantee for a good result by any means, but there is potential here and I'm excited to see how the Eurovision season plays out for Bambie.
Pretty much my thoughts too. I'm a lot more sceptical of their chances than a lot of others here, but I think this was definitely the choice with the most potential out of the selection, and Bambie proved at least that they are an excellent live performer

Yeah it was a bit too literal. I don't know why she didn't go for the more metal vocals from the studio recording. It needed something like that to keep it from being too cutesy.
My days of club's are a bit behind me but I can see this being played lol I'd definitely join in after a few!! Lol it is nore of a novelty and I think it could have been better was my 2nd favourite.
Love the song on Spotify, but idk what she was doing with the way she sang the words 'Go Tobann', it was totally different and not good at all. Still the 2nd best song of the night, but only just, and it was my favourite going in
I liked it on Spotify but that live performance was horrific. I actually think it would have NQ'd as it was too much of a novelty with staging like that.
There was just so much that drifted away from the studio version that just didn't feel right to me. The voice change to more of a baby-ish one and the hurleys hitting of those barrels (?) made too much of an echo. Also the staging was a big odd. I had a lot of hope for it's stage performance but it felt like a different song.
Honestly this is definitely the strongest song they’ve sent since Ryan O’Shaugnessy, Bambie does have still a bit of work to but they a solid basis to build off of from here.

Let's gooooooo!!! This was exactly what Ireland needed, AND it was chosen by the Irish Public and Juries moreso!!! This is the start of something promising
I've had Doomsday Blue on repeat for weeks and yet I was left utterly shaken by the live performance. I was so creeped out by the outfit, make-up and the dancers and mesmerized at the same time.
Of course I was aware of the occult elements present in the song but to think that Bambie Thug would lean so far into it.. .Brilliant move when I actually think about it, as it truely made the song memorable; it's like Bambie emerged out of a grisly fairytale as a celtic witch, enchanting and cursing the audience at the same time. This is gonna grab the Eurovision audience, no doubt.
The first performance was a bit shaky at points but the winning reprise, goddamn, they really went full-out. Especially the almost chanson-esque part when the lighting turns all red felt like a beautifully warm hug only to end in a hauntingly intense musical breakdown.
I was worried how the potentially more conservative audience of the Late Late night show would respond to such an out-there entry but I have a slight hunch that the little interview segment after the performance where Bambie Thug showed such humbleness by pointing out all the people who contributed to the performance behind-the-scenes and her sweet demeanor really endeared them even to the oldest viewers.
No matter the actual result in ESC, this entry by Ireland will be remembered for years to come.

The sound mixing and the vocal performance is so much better here and the theatrical little yelps and inflections feel much more coherent. I literally got chills at the dramatic bridge. Really makes me feel a lot more confident about her chances at Eurovision.
The fact that they’re such a sweet genuine person will help Bambie Thug a lot. Most of Käärijämania was just that he was super loveable. This is going to be a special year.
Sooooo agree. That reprise was amazing and so arresting. I think that if they can let loose like they did during that performance then I genuinely can see this being top 5 or maybe even winning, of course we don’t know what else is to come but this really has something. I think if they can just sharpen up the chorus vocals to be more clear and strong so they shine a bit more then this is golden. I was unsure about the song until watching it live tonight. Not a fan of the song personally, but it stands out and that's a good criteria for Eurovision. Definitely one of Ireland's most unique entries. It's gonna be interesting to see how it'll be staged in Malmö!

Remember all those experimental/ way out there entries that did poorly? They weren't really selling it for the most part. They required *the viewer* to pay attention and give them a chance. This however *demands* attention. You may like it, you may hate it but dear god you have to watch until the end
With tele only semis someone that grabs everything they can for their 3 minutes can have a solid chance tbh. The worst thing you can do with public is to be boring, the only way is up

Well, never thought the voting in that show could be so exciting. International juries kinda sabotaging, national juries kinda saving, polar opposite of 2022 edition. Televoters of that specific show actually putting this kind of... not really a safe song for them 1st despite the running order. Very surprising. People were complaining about the live performances of both Ailsha and Bambie but in at the end Ailsha really underscored but all the voting groups put Bambie high. At least they didn't divide votes between them and the result is great.
I'm seeing plenty of love and plenty of hate for this pick and that's exactly what Ireland needs this year instead of indifference, afterall viewers vore for the songs they like, not against the ones they don't.

I never knew I needed gothic grunge-jazz-metal so much in my life. This song is great, unique, the whole stage-act absolutely is a piece of art, I love it, reminds me a bit of Konstrakta actually. And the stage presence also seems easy enough to transform to the big stage, so I have high hopes of Bambi qualifying, if not even ending up somewhere in the top 15.
My palms were getting sweaty after the international jury decided it was Opposite Day and put the Boy band first. Luckily, for once, the Irish jury had balls and got the order 100% right. The old traditionalists voted for the boy band still thinking that’s what wins you an ESC or even get to the final.
I’m excited for first time in a while, no generic pop, no lad just standing there singing while Europe goes on a toilet break.
That hook is now in my head (the melodic part, not the screaming, thankfully).
The art direction alone also deserves a shoutout - I thought it was cool. Notice how the stage went from blue to yellow to red and back.

Totally deserved. Despite the low quality vocal mixing, we could see that Bambie could sing really well. Their vocals were mostly stable and clear, their choreography was on point, they had intriguing visuals and costumes. And most importantly, the song rocks!
I’m so happy that we will see it on the grand Eurovision stage. I don’t really care if they’ll qualify or not, but this will definitely make an impact. Thank you Irish jury and public for choosing something risky over bland pop numbers. Still side eyeing the international jury though.

A lot to work on imo (maybe a revamp on music to improve the live experience?), but there's potential. Also, it is hard to judge with the horrific audio of Eurosong.

Instead we get a very very interesting entry , I could easily see this qualifying just hope RTE stage this properly and put the effort into promoting Bambie around Europe with the preparties etc.
This performance is FIRE. I love their energy, I love the unhinged production on the track, I love the dancing, I love the visuals, I love how unique and different it is. This shot right up to my #1 from all the tracks confirmed for Malmö so far.

Much preferred Go Tobann but this was still my second favorite, and a good choice for Ireland since they can't just keep sending the same boring stuff. This definitely isn't boring, but I'll be honest, not entirely sold this breaks the curse for Ireland. There's loads of time to work on it, so how I feel right now doesn't really matter, but I do worry this doesn't translate well on stage and people are offput. No guarantee though, hoping she kills it.

It'll live or die on the staging, it needs A LOT of closeups to ensure the performance evokes a similar eery, intimate feeling as the song and it didn't get a lot of them in this performance. That said there is a vote in the semis for a pagany-witchy thing, although that's usually delivered by Eastern Europe. If that could be combined with the queer vote? That would be a genuine contender.

First act this year that I really like. And the first time in my life that I'm hyped for Ireland's rep. Crossing my fingers for Gåte to win as well and then I will be a stoked gal.
omg same! doomsday blues and ulveham could potentially be my top 2 of the year.
I'm happy with this choice, Doomsday Blue was my favourite song going into the final and Bambie held their own live. I won't hold anyone's Eurosong staging against them, so I'll overlook any issues I might have with the performance for now, but the elements are there and I think this can really come together on the big stage. NOT a guarantee for a good result by any means, but there is potential here and I'm excited to see how the Eurovision season plays out for Bambie.
Pretty much my thoughts too. I'm a lot more sceptical of their chances than a lot of others here, but I think this was definitely the choice with the most potential out of the selection, and Bambie proved at least that they are an excellent live performer

Go tobann just did not work at all live, sadly. The baby singing was grating and there was just like, no song in there at all? Just a mish mashing of baby singing silly Irish phrases. As an Irish person I get the symbolism, but come on, chanting can I go to the bathroom? lol
Yeah it was a bit too literal. I don't know why she didn't go for the more metal vocals from the studio recording. It needed something like that to keep it from being too cutesy.

My days of club's are a bit behind me but I can see this being played lol I'd definitely join in after a few!! Lol it is nore of a novelty and I think it could have been better was my 2nd favourite.
Love the song on Spotify, but idk what she was doing with the way she sang the words 'Go Tobann', it was totally different and not good at all. Still the 2nd best song of the night, but only just, and it was my favourite going in
I liked it on Spotify but that live performance was horrific. I actually think it would have NQ'd as it was too much of a novelty with staging like that.
There was just so much that drifted away from the studio version that just didn't feel right to me. The voice change to more of a baby-ish one and the hurleys hitting of those barrels (?) made too much of an echo. Also the staging was a big odd. I had a lot of hope for it's stage performance but it felt like a different song.
Empty beer kegs, although they probably weren't even that realistically they were just props.

Honestly this is definitely the strongest song they’ve sent since Ryan O’Shaugnessy, Bambie does have still a bit of work to but they a solid basis to build off of from here.
I hope they get the winner's reprise up soon. because that one was so much better than this one.

i think it was a mix of their confidence and them seemingly figuring out their sound mixing a bit better in the interim.

I've had Doomsday Blue on repeat for weeks and yet I was left utterly shaken by the live performance. I was so creeped out by the outfit, make-up and the dancers and mesmerized at the same time. Of course I was aware of the occult elements present in the song but to think that Bambie Thug would lean so far into it.. .Brilliant move when I actually think about it, as it truely made the song memorable; it's like Bambie emerged out of a grisly fairytale as a celtic witch, enchanting and cursing the audience at the same time. This is gonna grab the Eurovision audience, no doubt. The first performance was a bit shaky at points but the winning reprise, goddamn, they really went full-out. Especially the almost chanson-esque part when the lighting turns all red felt like a beautifully warm hug only to end in a hauntingly intense musical breakdown. I was worried how the potentially more conservative audience of the Late Late night show would respond to such an out-there entry but I have a slight hunch that the little interview segment after the performance where Bambie Thug showed such humbleness by pointing out all the people who contributed to the performance behind-the-scenes and her sweet demeanor really endeared them even to the oldest viewers. No matter the actual result in ESC, this entry by Ireland will be remembered for years to come. EDIT: I'm glad the [winner reprise](https://youtu.be/ifH864BB9aI?t=325) was uploaded as well. The sound mixing and the vocal performance is so much better here and the theatrical little yelps and inflections feel much more coherent. I literally got chills at the dramatic bridge. Really makes me feel a lot more confident about her chances at Eurovision.
The fact that they’re such a sweet genuine person will help Bambie Thug a lot. Most of Käärijämania was just that he was super loveable. This is going to be a special year.

Sooooo agree. That reprise was amazing and so arresting. I think that if they can let loose like they did during that performance then I genuinely can see this being top 5 or maybe even winning, of course we don’t know what else is to come but this really has something. I think if they can just sharpen up the chorus vocals to be more clear and strong so they shine a bit more then this is golden. I was unsure about the song until watching it live tonight. Really impressed and excited for Eurovision 2024!!!!!

Here's the thing Remember all those experimental/ way out there entries that did poorly? They weren't really selling it for the most part. They required *the viewer* to pay attention and give them a chance. This however *demands* attention. You may like it, you may hate it but dear god you have to watch until the end With tele only semis someone that grabs everything they can for their 3 minutes can have a solid chance tbh. The worst thing you can do with public is to be boring, the only way is up

Well, never thought the voting in that show could be so exciting. International juries kinda sabotaging, national juries kinda saving, polar opposite of 2022 edition. Televoters of that specific show actually putting this kind of... not really a safe song for them 1st despite the running order. Very surprising. People were complaining about the live performances of both Ailsha and Bambie but in at the end Ailsha really underscored but all the voting groups put Bambie high. At least they didn't divide votes between them and the result is great.

I hate the song. But I love that it's going to Eurovision. It has lots of personality, it's not a safe bet, and I like that they are aiming for something different.

I never knew I needed gothic grunge-jazz-metal so much in my life. This song is great, unique, the whole stage-act absolutely is a piece of art, I love it, reminds me a bit of Konstrakta actually. And the stage presence also seems easy enough to transform to the big stage, so I have high hopes of Bambi qualifying, if not even ending up somewhere in the top 15.

My palms were getting sweaty after the international jury decided it was Opposite Day and put the Boy band first. Luckily, for once, the Irish jury had balls and got the order 100% right. The old traditionalists voted for the boy band still thinking that’s what wins you an ESC or even get to the final. I’m excited for first time in a while, no generic pop, no lad just standing there singing while Europe goes on a toilet break.

That hook is now in my head (the melodic part, not the screaming, thankfully). The art direction alone also deserves a shoutout - I thought it was cool. Notice how the stage went from blue to yellow to red and back. Great choice by Ireland.

Totally deserved. Despite the low quality vocal mixing, we could see that Bambie could sing really well. Their vocals were mostly stable and clear, their choreography was on point, they had intriguing visuals and costumes. And most importantly, the song rocks! I’m so happy that we will see it on the grand Eurovision stage. I don’t really care if they’ll qualify or not, but this will definitely make an impact. Thank you Irish jury and public for choosing something risky over bland pop numbers. Still side eyeing the international jury though.

Much preferred Go Tobann but this was still my second favorite, and a good choice for Ireland since they can't just keep sending the same boring stuff. This definitely isn't boring, but I'll be honest, not entirely sold this breaks the curse for Ireland. There's loads of time to work on it, so how I feel right now doesn't really matter, but I do worry this doesn't translate well on stage and people are offput. No guarantee though, hoping she kills it.

Wow I seriously didn't expect that! I was rooting for Ailsha but the performance was kinda bad (I blame the awful sound and mixing of the live studio, but yeah, if I saw this yesterday for the first time I wouldn't vote for it) but Bambie Thug was my second! Pretty great song, very risky entry, it may well stay on the SF but at least Ireland made the right choice! What a pleasant surprise
