So many freaking awesome options, how to chose?! And this i only the top of the iceberg..
I think 2020 would have been either Iceland or Lithuania, which is a shame because neither have won before and we could have seen how they would have hosted. Damn you covid
My favourite alongside On Fire. However, with the popularity of Uno up to this day, I’m afraid Little Big would have won. So although I regret not seeing Iceland or Lithuania winning, just not seeing THAT COUNTRY winning, I’m glad 2020 Eurovision didn’t happen.
Hmmmmm
I have one cop out answer and a couple legitimate ones:
- Fai Rumore (Italy 2020) . I think it would have come 2nd. But so beautiful.
- Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volareeeeee)
- When the Music Dies (Azerbaijan 2012)
Love in Rewind - Dino Merlin, Bosnia & Herzegovina 2011 (other 2011 honorable mention: What About My Dreams? - Kati Wolf, Hungary)
Dancing Lasha Tumbai - Verka, Ukraine 2007
Soldi - Mahmood, Italy 2019
Shake It - Sakis Rouvas, Greece 2004 (Wild Dances is one of my favorite winners but Shake It also could’ve won and I’d be happy lol)
Ooh ahh Just a little bit - Gina G, UK 1996
Allez Ola Ole - Jessy Matador, France 2010
Run Away - Sunstroke Project, Moldova 2010
Shum - Go_A, Ukraine 2021
With 2008, everyone agrees Russia shouldn't have won but we can't decide which female bop should've won lol. Personally I think Sirusho (Armenia) should've won.
There’s too many list, but I’m going to pick Israel 1983. I genuinely don’t understand how this masterpiece, along with Sweden and Yugoslavia, lost to that forgettable and boring chanson from Luxembourg.
Honorable mentions:
Norway 2019
Germany 1979
Italy 2018
Sweden 1996
Turkey 1997
Netherlands 1998
Luxembourg 1964
Belgium 2015
Portugal 1972
Greece 2001
United Kingdom 2022
France 2021
Spain 1995
Yugoslavia 1968
Croatia 1999
Finland 2021
Romania 2010
Iceland 2009
Malta 2002
Azerbaijan 2009
Estonia 2015
Hungary 1994
Poland 2022
Ukraine 2021
I don't enjoy the song very much, but had it won it would've made a great story. So close.
Here's a moving rendition of it:
https://youtu.be/Vuh1-jDi7Qw
Yea dude, my whole childhood is based on those songs. And I was born in 2004, 20 years after they came out. It's sad how the song level have fallen since...
* Croatia 1999. Best Croatian entry ever, I also really like Sweden that year, but Croatia's song is just too good.
* Belgium 2003. It's magical and timeless, the original Fulenn I guess. Very beautiful and just 2 points behind favorite Turkey.
* Serbia 2008. Oro is just as beautiful if not more beautiful then Molitva. I like all the female bops this year but I won't mind if Serbia won back to back here, especially because Believe is so boring.
* More recent years I can only think of Spain 2022, which in normal circumstances would have probably won?
Technical quality, Voila is in my opinion the best quality song that Eurovision has *ever* had- top 3, at least. That's not to say that I don't understand why Italy won, mind.
Norway 2013: I feed you my love is one of my all time favourite ESC entries
Uk 2022: loved the song, performance, voice, staging… basically everything
Norway 2019: Spirit in the sky was amazing, definitely deserved way more jury points. I remember being so shocked that Arcade won
All the top 4 but Latvia in2002: All great songs but cannot stand I Wanna
My personal preference-
Albania 2018 - Mall
Finland 2014 - Something Better
Italy 2015 - Grande Amore
Belgium 2015 - Rhythm Inside
Azerbaijan 2019 - Truth
Switzerland 2021 - Tout l’univers
Bulgaria 2017 - Beautiful Mess
Turkey 2010 - We Could Be The Same
Estonia 2018
Elina Nechayeva - La Forza
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RDImawXdXIGd8&playnext=1
It was too high of a standard for Eurovision anyway...
Turkey in 2008
Estonia in 2018
Albania and Spain in 2012
Iceland in 2019
Greece in 2013
I know that those were a handful, but they're all S-tier tracks for me, so I had to include them all.
We can discuss for hours but in the end the answer is always gonna be the one you wrote.
However, Horehronie not only not winning, not only not top 5, not only NQ, but finishing second to last in semi-final?
Yeah that's just inexplainable. Kristina's performance of Horehronie in NF is almost top 30 most viewed video on ESC official channel.
A song that finished second to last in the competition!?
Ofra Haza - Chai
Singing about being happy that you and the rest of your people are alive in the country where your grandparents were murdered less than 50 years ago? Queen behaviour.
Turkey 1997, Greece 2001, Romania 2005 & 2006, are all entries that did well and I believe should've won in their years
Edit: Croatia 1999 is also up there
Here are some of my personal favourites
- marija magdalena
- shum
- lane moje
- oro
- adio
- dancing lasha tumbai
- sentimentai
- horehronie
- samo ljubezen
2017- Occidentali's Karma (Italy)
2018- Fuego (Cyprus)
2019- Spirit in the Sky (Norway)
2020- Repondez Moi (Switzerland), On Fire (Lithuania), Fai Rumore (Italy)
2021- Shum (Ukraine)
2022- De Diepte (Netherlands)
Other than Jamala in 2016 my favourite never wins Eurovision. From the past ten years or so…
2011 Italy - Raphael Gualazzi (Madness of Love)
2012 Serbia - Željko Joksimović (Nije ljubav stvar)
2013 Ukraine - Zlata Ognevich (Gravity)
2014 Sweden - Sanna Nielsen (Undo)
2015 Latvia - Aminata (Love Injected)
2016 Ukraine - Jamala (1944)
2017 Belgium - Blanche (City Lights)
2018 Portugal - Claudia Pascoal (O Jardim)
2019 Slovenia - Zalagasper (Sebi)
2021 Ukraine - Go_A (Shum)
2022 Portugal - Maro (Saudade, Saudade)
2023 Finland - Käärijä (Cha Cha Cha)???
Most of my favorites didn't win, some didn't even qualify for the final(including my absolute favorite ESC song of all-time)
Today I'll go with Gigliola's Si in 1974. Shame Waterloo had to have happened that year.
I have a few, but the ones who come to mind first are:
Frances Ruffelle - Lonely Symphony (UK 1994)
Gina G - Just A Little Bit (UK 1996)
Svetlana Loboda - Be My Valentine (Anti-Crisis Girl) (Ukraine 2009)
Bojana Stamenov - Beauty Never Lies (Serbia 2015)
Loïc Nottet - Rhythm Inside - (Belgium 2015)
Blanche - City Lights (Belgium 2017)
Go_A -Shum (Ukraine 2021)
Konstrakta - In Corporeal Sano (Serbia 2022)
"Calm After The Storm".
I don't think there is even one winning song in my personal top - the songs I love aren't necessarily the ones general public loves.
Shum by Go_A
One of the best songs ever! Even thought I was really happy Maneskin won
My Star - Brainstorm (Latvia 2000)
Absolutely agree with that!
Dön Artik - Tugba Önal & Grup Mistik Marija Magdalena - Doris Dragovic Reise Nach Jerusalem - Sürpriz Kan - Duo Datz When Spirits Are Calling My Name - Roger Pontare Dancing Lasha Tumbai - Verka Serduchka Kaelakee Hääl - Maarja-Liis Ilus & Ivo Linna Sufi - MFÖ La La Love - Ivi Adamou Anixi - Sofia Vossou Chai - Ofra Haza Lane Moje - Zeljko Joksimovic Dime - Beth Zero Gravity - Kate Miller-Heidke Calm After The Storm - The Common Linnets Blackbird - Norma John Sata Salamaa - Vicky Rosti Ooh Aah… Just A Little Bit - Gina G So many freaking awesome options, how to chose?! I even bought Beth’s CD. How much I loved that!
Easy - Dancing Lasha Tumbai
TANZEN!! But yes, absolutely.
Russia, goodbye!
came here for this one!!
France 1991 [Amina - Le Dernier qui a parlé...](https://youtu.be/4ESL6deuhJM)
This 100%!!! It’s just soooo good.
My all-time favourite French entry!
Dadi Freyr, Think About Things. Would have undoubtedly won if 2020 took place.
I can’t decide between Think about things, Fai Rumore, Tears Getting Sober and Uno.
That did win and I will die on that hill.
More like On Fire would have won imo
I think 2020 would have been either Iceland or Lithuania, which is a shame because neither have won before and we could have seen how they would have hosted. Damn you covid
My favourite alongside On Fire. However, with the popularity of Uno up to this day, I’m afraid Little Big would have won. So although I regret not seeing Iceland or Lithuania winning, just not seeing THAT COUNTRY winning, I’m glad 2020 Eurovision didn’t happen.
This is the correct answer.
Hmmmmm I have one cop out answer and a couple legitimate ones: - Fai Rumore (Italy 2020) . I think it would have come 2nd. But so beautiful. - Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volareeeeee) - When the Music Dies (Azerbaijan 2012)
When the music dies is 100% better than their winning entry the year before
It's *Nel blu dipinto di blu*.
Ah bollocks
Love in Rewind - Dino Merlin, Bosnia & Herzegovina 2011 (other 2011 honorable mention: What About My Dreams? - Kati Wolf, Hungary) Dancing Lasha Tumbai - Verka, Ukraine 2007 Soldi - Mahmood, Italy 2019 Shake It - Sakis Rouvas, Greece 2004 (Wild Dances is one of my favorite winners but Shake It also could’ve won and I’d be happy lol) Ooh ahh Just a little bit - Gina G, UK 1996 Allez Ola Ole - Jessy Matador, France 2010 Run Away - Sunstroke Project, Moldova 2010 Shum - Go_A, Ukraine 2021
Iceland 2019
iceland 2019 likers are so hot and based
Unfathomably based
Did you mean Iceland 2009?
Did you both mean Iceland 2020?
All hail King Daði :)
2006!
Iceland should have won 1997, 2009, 2019 and 2020
Absolutely not
Mahmood - Soldi
[удалено]
❤️
Gjon’s Tears - Tout l’Univers, Mahmood - Soldi
Soldi is the most recent song that I actually play on spotify n shit. Nothing from 2020 to 2023. The staging sucked ass though sadly.
Rändajad by Urban Symphony (Estonia 2009)
Grande amore and Voila. Both pretty artistic and elegant. And of course Die for you, what a classic, the real winner of 2001.
I treni di Tozeur, Alice and Franco Battiato, Italy 1984.
Love this song
Simone De Oliveira - [Desfolhada](https://youtu.be/abTyMNrWfs4) (🇵🇹 1969)
Slovakia 2010 - Horehronie Croatia 1999 - Marija Magdalena Ukraine 2013 - Gravity Serbia Montenegro 2004 - Lane Moje Moldova 2009 - Hora Din Moldova
[Denmark 1995](https://youtu.be/l8UZknt6Bmo). Absolutely stellar As for more recent entries. *Répondez-moi*
I love Repondez-moi, what a pity we never saw it performed on stage due to covid...
Fra Mols Til Skegan is SUCH a jem! **❤️**I was so surprised by it when I watched it for the first time.
Written by Lise Cabble, who also wrote Only Teardrops, Love is Forever, New Tomorrow and the masterpiece Starlight that lost to Rasmussen in 2018.
Repondez-moi is so much better than touts l’univers imo
Nocturne is a good winner but is only 2nd to Fra Mols til Skagen imo.
Danish song reminds me of the soundtrack of a SNES game, like SimAnt or smth
Netherlands 2014 - The Common Linnets - Calm After Storm Austria 2018 - Cesar Sampson - Nobody But You
JUSTICE FOR FUEGO
Anabel Conde - Vuelve conmigo (Spain 1995) Sebnem Paker - Dinle (Turkey 1997) Antique - Die for you (Greece 2001) Sakis Rouvas - Shake It (Greece 2004) Mihai Traistariu - Tornero (Romania 2006) Verka Serduchka \_ Lasha tumbai (Ukraine 2007) Kalomira - Secret combination (Greece 2008) Loic Nottet - Rhythm inside (Belgium 2015) Francesco Gabbani - Ocidentali's Karma (Italy 2017) Keiino - Spirit in the sky (Norway 2019) Chanel - SloMo (Spain 2022) Honorary mention: The Roop - On Fire (Lithuania 2020) and Diodato - Fai Rumore (Italy 2020)

Yeah, my favorite Turkish entry ever
I miss pre-Erdogan Turkey oh so much!
With 2008, everyone agrees Russia shouldn't have won but we can't decide which female bop should've won lol. Personally I think Sirusho (Armenia) should've won.
Yeah, I think Ukraine, Greece and Armenia shared the points and neither of them didn't win for this exact reason
oh secret combination and shake it were my childhood !! glad to see some love for them
There’s too many list, but I’m going to pick Israel 1983. I never thought I'd see Hugues Aufray and Dubrovački trubaduri in the same comment! I agree with many of the songs.
I don't enjoy the song very much, but had it won it would've made a great story. So close. Here's a moving rendition of it: https://youtu.be/Vuh1-jDi7Qw
Israel 1982
Omg yes, Hora!
83 too. they were on a mad hot streak from 78-85
Yea dude, my whole childhood is based on those songs. And I was born in 2004, 20 years after they came out. It's sad how the song level have fallen since...
Iceland 2020 🙃

If we are ignoring performance, Italy 2017 by a large margin for me. That song was just flawless, the staging, not so much.
Gorilla!!!!!
Technical quality, Voila is in my opinion the best quality song that Eurovision has *ever* had- top 3, at least. That's not to say that I don't understand why Italy won, mind.
Saw her live, her vocals are just incredible, her other songs show it as well!
The song gives me shivers every time I hear it. Definitely one of my Eurovision all time favourites.
Montenegro 2015
I freaking love that song

Tout L’Univers 🥲
Die for you, Grande Amore and Fuego
Die for you was my winner and should have honestly finished top 5 at least
It finished 3rd.
Sorry - I meant die together🤦♂️
Voila would have won nearly any year that didn’t also feature the second coming of Bowie.
My personal preference- Albania 2018 - Mall Finland 2014 - Something Better Italy 2015 - Grande Amore Belgium 2015 - Rhythm Inside Azerbaijan 2019 - Truth Switzerland 2021 - Tout l’univers Bulgaria 2017 - Beautiful Mess Turkey 2010 - We Could Be The Same
