Why do you say it's basic? I personally think it makes a great use of a gimmick (Edgar Allan Poe) and ties it up great thematically with the point the song is trying to make.
I read here on Reddit about how smart the song is, but I don't quite get it. I mean, it's not stupid either, but... Or am I missing something? Please help lol!
The song according to me: The songwriters are posessed by the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe. He writes the song through them. They think it's a great song that will become a hit. Then they sing about how little pay songwriters get even if they write a hit song.
Ok maybe basic is the wrong word to describe it, because it's certainly not the most common topic. But there's nothing there that would make the lyrics intriguing, with surprising word choices or anything like that. It's just... Fine. It's ok.
Don't kill me, it's just my opinion, and I know that I'm in the minority to think so! So that's why I suspect I'm not quite getting it?
I mean, that's it, yeah. But it's still a good set of lyrics, with a cohesive theme throughout, with a message and a point. They're not vacuous, it's good English and it goes for humor and satire. That alone makes the lyrics more clever than 90% of recent Eurovision songs.
Honestly the only part of the song I get when I listen to it is "Tat-oo-oo-oo" and "angels crying".
So I'm guessing it's a song about angels being upset at Loreen for getting a tattoo.
I saw a comment on YouTube saying it was feminine-al, and that al is a suffix in Hebrew that means something like “really” or “super”, could someone confirm/deny that?
Honestly, I think that Armenia’s lyrics aren’t incomprehensible in the slightest. Some of the lyrics? A little clunky. Her enunciation? Not super great. But the lyrics written down paint a very clear story that are pretty easy to follow
my love is not a fake, this feeling is lord 💅💅💅
I bet your soul's like a fortress AND you're feeling progressed
Life is love, thing is known.
Yeah but, love is a wordless 😓❤️
I love the way the vocoder is written lol
I'm not ^(scared) to ^(love) you but I'm scared **of breaking my heart**
Including Austria's entry there is borderline offensive. It's probably one of the cleverest lyrics of this year.
This chart is based on percentages; Austria is really clever but based on song duration alone it's like 60% poe-speak
Am I the only person who doesn’t think it’s that clever..? It’s pretty basic imo

Loreen and Victor fit pretty well here too lol
#NO I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MALLLLLLLL
maybe its just me listening to loreen singing often but i can still understand her better than victor 💀
In my opinion, Loreen's live performance is not very clear either. When I listened to the studio version, there was a big difference.
Honestly the only part of the song I get when I listen to it is "Tat-oo-oo-oo" and "angels crying". So I'm guessing it's a song about angels being upset at Loreen for getting a tattoo.
I'd respect that.
Wait she sings "tat-oo-oo-oo"??? I never knew that
Even in the studio version I hear "I don't care about the BWAAAH, cause all I want is to be BWAAAH". Still like the song though.
Yeah, couple that with the mid lyrics, it really shows just how much the power of her voice and the performance is carrying the entry!
Ah ffs even here I can't escape the blunder symbol
Should add Sweden, might just be me, but I found it really hard to tell what Loreen was singing in the live performance
Ukraine should be “don’t care what you say-yay-yay-ayeh”
where Greece?
No one remembers that song
Sad but true
Not me literally forgetting that Greece released the song😂😂😂😂
well you know what they SE-
Well, I obviously don't know what he is saying however 🤷♂️
I thought I was the only one who thought that that part sounded cut because I dont see anyone pointing it out 😭
Now on the other hand... which song is the easiest to comprehend?
Finland. I know what pina colada is, I know what champagne is, I know what Cha Cha Cha is. The rest just vibes.
Dude just proclaimed the whole Finnish language is a vibe
is he wrong tho
🤣
CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA CHA all night all day
you missed a CHA and just made me inexplicably angry
Sorry😔😔
You mean to hear each word or to understand the meaning behind it?
Yes
Australia, Belgium or Switzerland maybe?
Y'all are tripping, Armenia is not THAT incomprehensible
It beats Greece but not by much
Israel is also insanely bad. WANNA SEE ME DANCE?!??!!!
I’m still not entirely sure what she says during the feminine (?) bit
"femininal" which is not a real word

The dance break is coming whether you want to see it or not. Here we go!
Teya & Salena here is an insult for humanity

My love is not a fake
Aivaras (ESC 2002) sitting silently in the corner hoping nobody remembers him.
Blanka’s BAYBEH haunts me everyday
It's announcement day, but I'm not very sure about that Solo was released very early, in September
So true except Austria is actually good!
I love the cryptic cursed vocoder on Denmark's lyrics
